Director Hari keen on retaining original cast for ‘Singam 2′

Its no longer news that Suriya – Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani will be coming together for ‘Singam 2′, a sequel to the 2010 super hit, ‘Singam’. However it looks like Hari is hell bent in retaining the original cast from the film for the sequel.
The director who knows commercial cinema like the back of his hand has reportedly convinced ‘Aachi’ Manorama to be a part of the sequel as well. The ace actress was ill and underwent treatment recently, for various reasons. This film will now mark her comeback on big screen as she was last seen in ‘Ponnar Shankar’.
The sequel will go on floors once Suriya wraps ‘Maatraan’ with KV Anand, the film is nearing its completion with just a couple of songs pending to be canned.
‘Singam 2′ will boast off the same cast and crew but will see a few additions like Hansika Motwani and Santhanam. Buzz is that Hansika will play a school tot in this film.

There was much speculation about who the heroine would be with Bollywood names being tossed around. Finally, it seems that Samantha has become the chosen one.

After the stupendous success of 'Mankatha' Venkat Prabhu will be teaming up with Karthi Sivakumar for 'Biriyani'! The film will feature Karthi in the lead role along with a host of stars including Premgi Amaren and several others.

While 'Chennai 28' dealt about cricket, 'Saroja' about the kidnap of a school tot and 'Mankatha' on heist of cricket betting money, this film will deal with a whole new issue, an unexplored plot line.

'Biriyani' will go on floors come August and will bear the tagline, 'A Venkat Prabhu Diet'.

With music by Yuvan Shankar Raja the film will have Venkat Prabhu's usual technical team including Sakthi Saravanan for cinematography, Stunt Silva and editing by Praveen KL.

A special screening of Billa 2 was arranged for director Shankar recently. Distributed by Aascar Films, Billa 2 is close to completion and will be ready to be released in the month of September. The special screening also was attended by director Chakri Toleti and Aascar Ravichandran.
A clearly impressed Shankar was seen congratulating Chakri for his feat after the movie’s screening. He also extolled Ravichandran for making the right choice, according to sources present at the event. With Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah in the lead, Billa 2′s audio release is expected soon.

For Sneha who got married last week to Prasanna, it was back to work under the arc lights. No honeymoon for her, as she has to complete work for her Haridas, a film close to her heart. The film is directed by GNR Kumaravelan of Ninaithale Inikkum fame and has Kishore and Sneha in the lead with music by Vijay Antony.
Sneha is very happy with the role she plays in the film. The movie is about an eight-year-old boy’s view on life and his father. Sneha plays a pivotal role, which is crucial to the film. A couple of days of her shoot and the Haridas shoot will be over.
It is being made as a quickie as the shooting started only this year March and the film will be ready for release by July.
Remember that Sneha had opted out of Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan for Haridas, as she was extremely excited upon hearing the script and accepted the role immediately. She had reportedly said that out of the 80 odd scripts she had heard, none had excited her more.

Post-production work for Billa 2 in full swing

The eagerly awaited Ajit starrer Billa 2 is in post-production work in Mumbai.
The producer of the film In Entertainment`s Sunir Kheterpal and director Chakri Toleti are more comfortable and at home working from their home base in Mumbai. The post-production work is going on in full swing so that it can be censored before May 31.
Chakri Toleti is working round the clock with the post production and is giving utmost care to the DI, sound, design, VFX and the editing of the film. The buzz is that the music director of the film, Yuvan Shankar Raja is also present in Mumbai and is doing the re-recording work. A new trailer including song clippings are also getting ready to be unveiled a week before release.
With the buzz around Billa 2 only increasing each day, the unit is bent on putting their best foot forward. The film which was initially slated for release on June 1 has now been tentatively postponed to June 8.
The final date will be announced once the film gets censored, which the producers are trying their best to do before end of this month.

Priyamani has dismissed reports that her mother visits Mumbai often to hunt Bollywood projects for her. “We will never go behind offers. And there is no necessity for us to do that,” says the National Award winning actress.
“My relatives reside in Mumbai. So my mother goes there to visit them. Other than this, there is no professional reason attached to her frequent trips to Mumbai,” the ‘Paruthi Veeran’ girl says further.
She adds, “I am at present busy with two Kannada films, two Malayalam movies and one Telugu project. Even two Hindi offers came my way. Official announcements will be made very soon by the people concerned.”

The Settai team had an unexpected visitor on the sets yesterday. The shooting of this film is fast progressing and out of the blue dropped in Suriya, who was shooting for the KV Anand directed Matraan at the sets erected nearby.

The entire Settai team including Arya, director Kannan, and PG Muthiah were happy to meet Suriya who spent some time talking to the cast and crew of Settai. The Settai team then visited the Matraan sets and were awed by the huge set built there for the shooting.

UTV’s Dhananjayan said that the Settai team was happy with the interaction with Suriya and loved every minute of it.

Acotr Shah Rukh Khan Banned for Life

The Mumbai Cricket Association has banned Shah Rukh Khan from entering the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for life. The King Khan reportedly assaulted the security personnel at the stadium for not allowing him and his entourage to enter the cricket ground. The situation turned ugly with the star and his supporters hurling abuses at the security personnel who were doing their job.

However, Shah Rukh’s version is that the security personnel manhandled his daughter and this irked him which led to the altercation. The MCA has not taken this issue lightly and apart from banning the star from entering the Wankhede Stadium also filed a complaint at the Marine Drive police station.

It may be mentioned here that the King Khan is one of the co-owners of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.

Four Films at the German Film Festival

Four Tamil films Vazhakku En 18/9, Raattinam, Vaagai Sooda Vaa, and Mouna Guru have made it to the German International Film Festival this year. Of these four films, Raatinam is yet to be released. Vazhakku En 18/9, which hit the screens recently, has received rave reviews and is critically acclaimed throughout. The film has been directed by Balaji Shakthivel and produced by N Lingusamy.

Vaagai Soodava is directed by Sargunam and had Vimal and Iniya playing the lead pair. The film was set in 1960s era and director had portrayed the story very realistically. Mouna Guru was directed by newbie Shantha Kumar and had Arulinidhi and Oviya in the lead roles. Raattinam is directed by KS Thangasami and the film will make it to the theatres on May 18th.

The post production works of Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 are in full swing.. The Tamil movie, which has shaped up well so far, will have a June release.

If the reports are to be believed, the makers of the film are planning to release on June 8. They are trying their best to bring the film before the audience on the above said date. Even if it fails, it might be pushed just for a week.

Prior to the release, Aascar Ravichandran, who has acquired the distribution rights of the film for record Rs 26.05 crore, is gearing to release a trailer through a grand function on June 1. He is also planning to start the publicity campaign in the last week of May.

Actor-producer-director Satish Kaushik has purchased the Hindi remake rights of the Tamil film Pithamagan directed by Bala and starring Vikram and Surya. Satish has completed the script for the Hindi version and wants Salman Khan to reprise the role played by Vikram, which won him a National Film Award.
In fact, earlier, Satish Kaushik officially remade another of Bala’s Tamil film Sethu in Hindi with the title Tere Naam in 1999 with Salman Khan playing the lead.

I’m on top of the world. At the audio launch itself, Pawan Kalyan sir told me that every song in the album is mindblowing. Now I’m happy that his words have come true and the film is turning out to be a blockbuster and music is being appreciated. My special thanks to director Harish Shankar for making it a success.
Q. The song you wrote, Pillaa.. is turning out to be the chartbuster.
I had written for five or six films earlier but nothing like Pillaa.. song.Harish wanted a mass song, and I tweaked it a bit and made it classy, at the same time with a mass touch. The whole song has been written keeping in mind the smile of a girl. A folk singer Vaddepalli Srinivas rendered it well and Pawan Kalyan’s dialogue interlude in the song blended beautifully along with Harish Shankar’s picturisation using drummers in the background worked with the audiences.
Q. Is writing in your blood as your dad was a school teacher and a writer?
Yes, I have imbibed writing from my dad, and have written lyrics for a few Telugu movies earlier(Shankar Dada). But Pillaa was different as every lyricist like Chandrabose garu,Ramajogayya garu, Sahiti garu,Bhaskarabatla garu appreciated me for the lyrics. I became very emotional when the legendary Sitarama Shastry garu called me and praised me for my Pillaa lyrics. It was as good as getting an award.
Q. You seem to be doing more Telugu films than Tamil?
It just happened that I’m doing about 7 films in Telugu with top stars at the moment. In Tamil I’m doing Karthi’s Alex Pandian and all the songs have come out well. Karthi just loves my music and he remembers all my Telugu numbers. I’m also doing Hari sir’s Singam 2 with Suriya sir. We have already recorded two songs for the album.
Q. What’s happening on your Bollywood front especially after Salman’s Ready song Dhinka Chinka an adaptation of Ring a Ringa became rage?
At the moment I’m doing the title song for Kabeer Kaushik’s Maximum which has Naseeruddin Shah and Sonu Sood. They have picked my Aa Ante song from Arya. I should be doing a film for Salman Khan soon, as he has told me that he loves my music.
