An Android-app has been released in Japan, this Android application allows your significant other to keep tabs on you – without your knowledge. The app is called Karelog that is basically a piece of spyware than when downloaded can be installed onto your partner’s Android handset. It will run in the background, and unless your partner is tech savvy enough, they will probably not know that it is running.

Upon installation an ID and password will be given to you, and you can login via a website. Through the website, it appears that you will be able to track their movements through GPS, so you can always be sure that he/she is where they told you they would be. The app will be free for the first 3 days after which you will be required to pay a subscription fee of ¥525 a month (or ¥840 for 3 months or ¥1,980 for a year). This is the regular membership which will allow you to track your partner via GPS but also to check the battery status of their Android device.

There’s even a platinum membership that will set you back ¥1,980 a month, ¥4,980 for 3 months or ¥8,980 a year. This gives you even more access to your partner’s phone and you will be able to access call logs and see what sort of apps he/she has downloaded. It’s a little creepy and despite the “Boyfriend Log” moniker, we don’t see why possessive and jealous boyfriends can’t install this on their girlfriend’s Android handsets either.

DROID Incredible and ThunderBolt will receive an Update to Gingerbread in September

HTC Thunderbolt and Droid Incredible, if you have any of these Smartphones then get ready for some good news and possibly some bad news. HTC's Facebook page has a post about the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be rolling out for the Verizon Android handsets in September. What could possibly be the bad news then. Well, we need to check the official HTC Facebook page and the post about the Gingerbread update seems to be missing.

However, it’s not a false report, as evident by the screenshot captured by the folks at Droid Matters. Here’s what the message had to say:

We’re pleased to announce that both DROID Incredible and ThunderBolt at Verizon will be receiving an update to Gingerbread in September. Thanks for your support!

This leads us to believe that it was a premature announcement. But as to whether or not it was an accurate release time frame – we can only hope so. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted. How many of you are still running Froyo on your Thunderbolt or Incredible. Update (2.43PM PT): HTC’s Twitter account seems to corroborate with reports about the Facebook statement, so the September time frame should be accurate. Rejoice.

We've come up with iPhone 5 top story on the internet and that's 'Apple may have lost an next-gen iPhone' in a San Francisco bar, again! Is that really possible, though it seems unbelievable, but this story is published by CNET has published. Apparently, an iPhone 5 has gone missing in the San Francisco Mission district sometime in late July and the event has sent a wave of urgency at Apple Security whose mission was to find and extract the device ASAP.

The device was reportedly lost at Cava 22, a bar sin the Mission. From there, Apple used the phone location capability, or the cellular network, to trace it to a single-family home in Bernal Heights, a residential and family friendly neighborhood. The occupant denied having the phone, and a police search did not bring anything up. Apple has even offered a reward for the return of the phone -no questions asked-, but the person still denied having the device.If you have missed last year’s drama, tech site Gizmodo purchased a lost iPhone 4 from a man who said to have found it in a bar.

Gizmodo then published a lengthy series of articles detailing pretty much anything that the eye can see. In turn, it sparked Apple’s anger, and Gizmodo reporters were (and stil are) banned from Apple events since, but Gizmodo’s editor in chief’s home was search by the police and his computers were confiscated. Charges were eventually dropped. If this happens again, iPhone hunting season will officially start in July of 2012. Frankly, if this is true, that’s completely silly. Maybe Apple should add a “bar” challenge in their interview process, or build a field testing team that can drink and not drop a 140g phone.

Google just has released new versions of GMail, Calendar and Google Docs that can work even when there is no internet connection actually is pursuing its “everything web” endeavor. This is really cool that Google has realised it and is addressing this issue because networks are simply not always available, and this is the reason why “old” productivity apps like Microsoft Office or Open Office are still so popular.

GMail offline is found as a Chrome Store App (it is free) while Google Calendar and Google Docs are to be used from the usual website, although will work in read-only mode when no network is available. On the contrary, GMail users will be able to create new messages and have them queued until a network access is available. At the moment, this seems to work only with Google’s Chrome web browser, but Google is looking into making it available to other browsers. However, Google does not say why these “web apps” don’t work from the get go on other browsers, like Firefox.

It's time for German DOOM Game's Fans to become happy, great news comes for them - the mature rating for the two games are no longer rated as Restricted and have been replaced with USK 16+, this means that kids 16 and above will be allowed to purchase the game legally. While in this day and age who really plays those games anymore, and kids who really wanted to play the game would have probably found the means to obtain it through alternative outlets.

But it’s good to know that such a vital piece of PC gaming history can now be enjoyed by all. The game was previously restricted to adults only due to violent graphical content available in the game, but I guess compared to other titles available today – it’s just not that violent anymore. No word on when it’ll go on sale yet, but German gamers tired of the whole COD/BF scene will have something refreshing albeit old school to look forward to.

Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 [Full Steam Integration]

At this time in the World of Games perhaps the Steam is the most successful Online Video Game Store/Service at the moment, so it comes as no surprise that the upcoming Call of Duty installment, Modern Warfare 3, will be sold on Steam and will feature full integration with Steamworks. This means that achievements, auto-updating, Steam Cloud integration, and all the usual features of Steam will be available for the game.

Not sure if this means we’ll be seeing funny hats, but Steam fans won’t be disappointed. COD: MW3 now has a Steam product page and is up for pre-order at $59.99. There’s no telling when it’ll start receiving price cuts (a usual occurrence for Steam games) but something tells me it won’t be anytime soon. Pre-order customers will get to play the game as soon as it launches on November 8th, thanks to Steam’s instant content delivery platform. Anybody planning to fork out money for the game before it releases.

LG to reveal 3D Game Conversion Engine at IFA

LG has a very good news for the Game Developers and Mobile Game Players, If you’ve always wanted to develop 3D games for devices such as the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC EVO 3D, at IFA 2011 which will be happening in Berlin come 2nd of September until the 7th of September, LG will be unveiling what they’re claiming to be the “world’s first” 3D game conversion engine for smartphones. Making 3D games sounds pretty good and especially if 3D does not turn out to be a fad and becomes widely adopted.

3D games will definitely help set games apart from their 2D competitors although gameplay and other factors are taken into account. Unfortunately not all developers are blessed with the tools, resources or the know-how to go about creating 3D games, which is why LG’s 3D game conversion engine seems like there may be a sudden flood of 3D games in the Android Market. The convertor is expected to be released in the first Maintenance Release for the Optimus 3D, which is scheduled for October. Unfortunately as to when exactly, that all depends on the carriers. How this works on the user’s end is that they have to enable the convertor, which will then scan the game to see if it has been optimized for 3D. If it has then the user should be able to play 2D games in 3D, if not the settings will have to be adjusted manually.

Unfortunately as we do not have any developer experience or knowledge, we can’t speak on what needs to be done on the developer’s end of things, and we’re not sure if this will be able to work on the EVO 3D, although by right it should. Either way for those who enjoy 3D games should be able to look out for about 50 optimized 2D games come October.

Everyone hates to face the traffic lights, me personally really hate this when headed owards a traffic light, brake, only to have the lights turn green 2 seconds later. As we all know that unnecessary and excessive braking will result in car wasting energy and fuel due to the amount of fuel required to get your car moving again. The good news is that a group of researchers from MIT and Princeton University are currently researching when is the best time to stop and restart your cars when at a traffic light.

This is accomplished with an iPhone mounted on the dashboard of the car, and through the use of the iPhone’s camera and a GPS system called SignalGuru, it will be able to tell the driver when is the best time to slow the car down in order to help save fuel. In the US it appears that the system works just fine, and when they tested it out in Cambridge, MA, it was reported that fuel consumption was cut down by 20%. However in other countries such as Singapore, it did not work as well as the researchers hope as the length of traffic lights in Singapore are determined by the amount of traffic in that particular area. Given that fuel efficiency is the current buzzword, let’s hope that this system becomes more widespread and find its way to standalone devices or other smartphone platforms.

HTC Sense 3.5 Review [Video]

A treat to some screenshots of HTC’s latest overlay for Android – Sense 3.5 was given last week. And now today we have leaked screenshots and some video footage done by the same folk. While it’s not very clear, it is detailed enough to see how Sense 3.5 looks like, and some of the fancy new features it brings.

The video shows Sense 3.5 demonstrated on the female-targeted HTC Bliss, and while the specs of the phone aren’t very impressive, HTC Sense runs pretty smooth on the device which hopefully means we’ll be seeing it released for older HTC phones as well. An Algerian Auction Website displays HTC Omega

This is quiet amazing that just after a first few renders of the upcoming HTC Omega was leaked out, the handset has already appeared in the wild, and of all places, on an Algerian auction site, According to French blog Mon Windows Phone, the HTC Omega is a rumored Mango device that might just feature run along to a Snapdragon MSM8255 1.5GHz processor, not to mention receiving the good company of 512MB worth of RAM and a 3.8″ LCD display. Blurry images that are seen on the auction site fail to deliver further information the device, but we do know that there is an 8-megapixel camera located at the back, while a front-facing video camera is perfect for video calls.

You can stash away up to 8GB of information inside, and whispers have it that the HTC Omega that comes in a white-and-gray configuration will make its long awaited debut at an HTC event in London this week. No idea on pricing and availability as at press time, but currently, the highest online bid stands at around $540.

HTC Holiday comes to AT&T this Fall

This coming Fall, AT&T will be delivering the HTC Holiday and we aren’t talking about just the HSPA+ models only, as it does seem as though the HTC Holiday will also be one of the “pioneers” of smartphones to roll out while playing nice with AT&T’s LTE markets. What will your eyes be able to experience with this particular model? How about a really, really generous 4.5″ qHD touchscreen display to deliver interesting visuals to keep a 1.2GHz dual-core processor company in addition to 1GB RAM.

It packs an 8-megapixel camera at the back with flash, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera that ought to do its video calls just nice, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity alongside a quartet of capacitive touch buttons located right under the display. Xperia's Series is being expand by Sony Ericsson with the launch of the XPERIA NEO V. Here I must clear that the ‘V’ here does not translate to the Roman numeral equivalent of ’5′, but rather it is an alphabet – since there are no XPERIA neo 2, 3, or 4 models out there. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA neo V will continue where the neo left off, powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, in addition to a 3.7″ LCD TFT display with Mobile Bravia Engine, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus as well as 720p HD video recording capability, HDMI-out connectivity as well as a front-facing camera if you love making video calls over the phone.

Similar to the XPERIA neo where the ‘human curvature’ design is concerned, the neo V will arrive in white, silver and blue gradient variants. All the Smartphone manufacturers are trying their best to have some sort of flagship model with which it could be use to differentiate the company’s direction from another. Sony Ericsson hasn’t exactly been churning out awe-inspiring designs, but on average, their phones do look pretty easy on the eyes. Word has gone around that Sony Ericsson’s Nozomi will be the next flagship model, where it will be powered by a 1.4GHz processor and accompanied by a 4.3″ display at 720p resolution, sporting the model number LT26i/LT26a.

Nice to know that this phone will not be limited to a Japan-only release, as the world’s the phone’s oyster. No idea on how much will it cost, nor when will it be released, but sooner is always better than later, don’t you think so. As for the Sony Ericsson SK19i that we mentioned earlier, being caught in a benchmark test, that model is said to have been shelved – for good. Originally meant to be a slider handset that has a QWERTY keyboard thrown into the mix, the phone will no longer be worked upon. Of course, this is still very preliminary – and such a rumor could eventually be proven right or otherwise – all it needs is time.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Series Smartphones goin to get Android Gingerbread

Good news comes for those who are fan and fond of Sony Ericsson Xperia Series Smartphones, seems like Sony Ericsson has not given up on making smartphones and the company has just announced something that should please owners of its Xperia range of phones, as those models will be getting the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update in October – better late than never, we say. Too bad this upgrade is limited to just Xperia handsets that were released this year – including the Play, Arc and Neo, and the timing will depend on the individual mobile operators. Just what will Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread bring to the table.

For starters, it will boast of a 3D sweep panorama camera mode, letting you enjoy whatever 3D shots you captured with the handset over on a 3D-capable TV or LCD monitor. Since Sony Ericsson’s phones do not come with dual cameras for true blue 3D image capture, it should be safe to assume that 3D images conjured are due to a conversion process. Other features will comprise of the updated Facebook Inside software, Google Talk with video chat capability, screenshot capture, Swype text input as well as USB support via the Sony Ericsson Live Dock.

Septemberx uploaded a video on February 11, 2010 reveals the Apple vs. Samsung legal case. The film lasts for one minute and it shows two astronauts are eating and at the same time using personal tablet computers. Samsung’s argument is that what Apple calls the “iPad design” - a rectangular, flat computer, to simplify – check the patent has been seen in prior art, and that Apple did not “invent” the notion of tablet computers.Now, it will be interesting to see if the court sides with Samsung, or not. Clearly people are very divided on this topic. Those who agree with Apple say that without the iPad, the competitors would not have created their devices, and those who disagree with Apple say that patenting the tablet format is simply ludicrous.

So far, Apple has had some success in blocking Samsung tablets here and there. Although there are many tablet manufacturers, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the only design that is a clear danger for the iPad, both in terms of design and specifications. It is lighter, movies play in widescreen and it is great-looking.

Quartet of Galaxy Smartphones will be Announced by Samsung at IFA 2011

IFA 2011 is expected to bring 4 New Galaxy Smartphonesby Samsung, the Galaxy W, Galaxy M Pro, Galaxy Y and Galaxy Y Pro. This is quite a wonder when are they going to start naming future phones from the beginning of the alphabet, isn't it? Well, for starters, the Galaxy W is a mid-range smartphone with a 1.4GHz single-core processor, accompanied by a 3.7″ display, Samsung’s very own TouchWiz interface, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and 3G support. As for the Galaxy M Pro, this will mark Samsung’s foray into the world of candybar QWERTY phones, similar to how the Blackjack series worked.

Measuring 9.97mm thin, it will feature the TouchWiz user interface, while boasting support for Cisco’s Mobile, WebEx and Sybase Afaria. Not only that, the Galaxy Y will feature a smaller touchscreen display, a relatively modest 832MHz processor, TouchWiz support and Swype’s custom keyboard. Coming in a bunch of colors, it should be able to appeal to a bunch of yonuger smartphone users. Last but not least would be the Galaxy Y Pro that sports a keyboard in the same vein as that of the M Pro.

Hopefully they will all be decently priced when they hit the market – anyone heading towards IFA 2011 should look forward to Samsung’s booth!

Samsung I9220 [might pack] Android 2.3.4, 5.29" 720p Super AMOLED Plus Display, 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB RAM & 16GB Memory [Internal]

Suggests, assumptions and leaks in the World of Technology do not involve any form of water, but rather, they are juicy bits and snippets, that's why Samsung’s i9220 handset has plenty of rumors to go along with it. It is said that this particular make will feature a 5.29″ Super AMOLED Plus display at 1,280 x 720 resolution. This certainly contradicts what earlier reports point to – which is a less than stellar 4.5″ size, albeit at the same 720p level resolution. Will it be 5.29″ or 4.5″? Granted, 4.5″ is already pretty generous in this day and age, but if we can get away with a larger screen, why not.

There are also rumors going around which were based on a leaked roadmap that pointed towards a separate device, otherwise known as the i9210, which would carry similar hardware albeit targeting different markets or carriers. No idea on whether the i9210 is a regional variant or it is based on different hardware, but we guess that time will reveal all. It is also tipped that both handsets will run on dual-core 1.5GHz processors which hail from Qualcomm, sporting 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory, coupled with an 8-megapixel camera at the back and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. It will be powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread so you need not wait for an update after purchasing it.

Motorola's Super-phone DROID Bionic headed to Verizon [Official Images]

After the arrival of the DROID Bionic shirts, the launch of the video teaser, and leaked photographs of the phone all we’re missing is the official announcement/press release and shots of the phone. Well it looks like we can cross one of those off the list. The Pop Herald has managed to land itself exclusive shots of the upcoming super phone from Motorola that’s headed to Verizon’s network.

Although the images are low-res (apparently they were intended for an online store), they’re large enough for us to feast our eyes on. If you’ve been waiting to get a clear look at the phone from every angle – today’s your lucky day. The phone that’s speculated to arrive in a week or two is almost here. And judging by the pictures of the device, a lot of people should be pleased.

The DROID Bionic looks pretty slim (not Galaxy S 2-sli though) and reminds me of the DROID X2, except for the four Android buttons on the bottom of the phone. iPhone 5 Prototype - Back Cover, Audio and Volume Parts [Leaked]

As we draw closer to the rumored announce date of the next generation iPhone, the inevitable leaks start appearing much more frequently. Case in point, the folks over at macpost.net have received a bunch of photographs showing off what is said to an early prototype version iPhone 5. The phone carries the marking “N94″ on the back of the phone, and is marked with the date 07-June-2011 and a label EVT2 Engineering Verification Testing on the front cover.

The phone’s form factor is reminiscent of the iPhone 4, which corroborates with previous rumors about the iPhone 5 looking just like the iPhone 4 except that it will feature improved internals. But since this is an early prototype model, things might have changed along the way as the recently leaked iPhone 5 cases would show. Or this could also be the iPhone 4S – the cheaper version of the iPhone that is said to be released along with the iPhone 5. More leaked pictures at macpost.net.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 [Unveiled in the Wild]

Not many days are left behind til Samsung’s Unpacked event at IFA 2011 and rumors are already everywhere on the internet about what Samsung will be revealing on that day. One of the products that have been discovered through snooping around of the Unpacked app’s .APK file is the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 that’s slightly larger than the original Galaxy Tab. The folks over at Android-Life think that they might have gotten their hands on the first actual photograph of the tablet, but there’s no way to be certain. From the photograph, we can see that the tablet makes use of the 30-pin connector similar to the one found on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

There’s also no way to tell if it’s actually smaller, but in relation to the other objects around the tablet and the charging connector itself – the tablet does look pretty small. Not much is known about the tablet itself, except rumors about Samsung using its 7″ Super AMOLED Plus displays for the tablet. I guess we’ll be finding out next week. Stay tuned for more details. It's being heard that Amazon is making plans to launch several new Android tablets, perhaps in a bid to compete against other Android tablets, but perhaps a bigger fish is in Amazon’s sights with Apple’s very own iPad 2, which many consider to be the tablet to beat. The New York Post's report reveals, they claim that according to a source, it seems that Amazon will be launching their upcoming tablet for a much cheaper price compared to Apple’s iPad. They claim that it will sell for “hundreds less” than the iPad 2, although exactly how much less we can’t say for certain.

While the HP TouchPad did not manage to do well when it was priced normally, the fire sale which saw prices drop to a mere $99 for the 16GB version of the tablet has turned it from a flop to critical success, although given that HP has stated they will be discontinuing webOS for tablets and smartphones, we have to wonder if they are now regretting their decision. Perhaps Amazon will be taking a leaf from HP’s book and are hoping that by pricing their tablets much cheaper than the iPad 2, it will encourage many to adopt their products based purely on price alone. We can’t confirm the validity of these rumors for now, so I guess we will have to wait and see if the rumors hold true when Amazon’s tablet launches either next month or October - rumored.
