Where has the year gone? Did I keep the faith this year? Did I accomplish anything for God this year? Are these some of the questions you ask yourself at the end of another year? One of the traditional things to do at New Years is to review the past year and try to acknowledge our mistakes and set our minds to not making them again this year. This is a celebrated time a reflection and renewal. This is a good opportunity to examine your soul and have a determined mind and heart to move closer to God this year. David said “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (ps 51:10) Paul gives us good advice in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We set aside certain events as a time of remembrance, examination and renewal. Israel celebrated the Passover for remembrance. We partake of the Lord Supper which has a purpose for us to examine and renew our souls. Paul further admonishes us, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Eph 4:22-24) What a wonderful feeling of renewal. We may think there is nothing to renew if we still walk in Christ. I feel renewed every time I go to church. Every blessing I receive is a renewal. Reading the Word of God is a renewal. Truth of the matter, we should strive for renewal. Renewing is nothing more the maintaining the best. Do you want the best? Renew today!
We need to continue to raise money for the Digital Duplicators. Alabama’s goal is to raise $4000. Send all offerings to Sis. Mason and mark “reaching the nations through publications”
The race is still on for the banner programs for Outreach literature offerings. Will Alabama be able to defend our title? Which local church will take home the banner at the State convention?
Let’s not forget about our Gleaners. We need to be working with our “YOUNG RACERS” to train them for Christ and the Church!
January Quiz!
$75.00 award to be given to VLB or Gleaner at Youth convention. May 1 -2, 2009
1. What did Bartimaeus do after Jesus healed his blindness?
2. What did the Prodigal son eat to stay alive during the famine?

Victory Leaders Band

As you ride downtown you see each lamp post decorated with lighted ornaments. Store fronts are full of flashing strings of light that catch your attention with its beauty. As you ride toward home the neighborhoods all have twinkling lights and sparkling decorations that illuminate street after after street. Why so much light at this time of year? Are we celebrating electricity? No! It is much greater than that. Does the world realize what all the "light" is about? If we reflect back to the beginning, Genesis 1:1-4, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness"

Okay, so God created light, is that why we wrap every post, tree, rail and bush with flashing lights? Again, No! It is a celebration of the birth of "LIGHT" into this world, Jesus Christ! 1 John 2:8, "Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth." Jesus said, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46)

Jesus brought true light into this world. The LIGHT of Jesus Christ is the separation of Darkness (SIN), just as God separated light from darkness in the very beginning. 1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." So with all the enjoyment of this season we realize that without LIGHT it would just be a tree instead of a CHRISTmas tree, and we would just be people instead of CHRISTians.

We must be "...the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." (Matthew 5:14).
So, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee." (Isa. 60:1)

Testing the VLB Message

This section will display the VLB message from the State VLB Coordinator.
