I’m not going to lie, three hours of sleep is pushing it. I knew this would happen, because I slept a full eleven hours the day before, and thus I wasn’t tired last night. Had beers with the always pleasant Matt Forbeck, and then the night escalated, as it sometimes does. In the end I was hanging out at one of my favorite bars, Ambar, enjoying funky wine, sparkling sake, and Swedish whisky, as well as interesting conversation with the owner. All in all, a nice evening, that I can sort of feel this morning. A quick nap might not be such a bad idea…

Oh, and I had to walk to my morning meeting, after giving up on the traffic jam (due to an accident). That’s a pretty good way to wake up, I guess, but it felt very much like Monday at the time.

Fitting

Two things my fellow Swedes hopefully haven’t missed today: It’s Mother’s Day, and it’s your last chance to vote in the EU election. The first of the two can be a joyous occasion, or a painful reminder. The second is your democratic duty, and not all people have that opportunity, so make the most of it and vote, preferably for something that isn’t evil and dripping of fascism. The duality of the day is showing itself by showering us with rain, and bathing us in sunshine too. Fitting.

My downfall

I’m usually not a big fan of weekends. Days be days, you know, and I happen to enjoy hanging out in the studio. That said, I’m really looking forward to wrapping another manuscript this weekend. I should pick up a bottle of celebratory whisky, I think. Yes, that’s how confident I am, and yes, that’ll be my downfall for sure.

Powder with a version number

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Huel, usually having a shake for lunch. Today I was reminded of how far the product has come, because I got a bag of the original Vanilla Huel powder. It’s not particularly tasty, nothing that adding some coffee won’t fix, but still. Compared to the current 2.3 version (yes, Huel has version numbers), the original was horrible. Nice product development, that.

Team building

It’s getting hot in Stockholm, there’s no need to bring a jacket when heading out. I’m not a big fan of the heat, nor being in a city when the temperatures go up, but it’s fine for now. Last summer was horrible though, the studio was ridiculously warm. There are photos of me shooting for the Divide & Conquer website in… scant clothing. I guess that’s some kind of team buiding right there.

Writing hangover

I wrote a lot of words yesterday, over 7,000 of them in fact. A manuscript got wrapped, brain degraded into mush, and I took the evening off. Today has been slow, as expected, nurturing a writing hangover if you will. It take a lot out of you when you dive down the hole and decide to finish something like that, and you can’t expect to be fully functional for some time after.

A nice weekend ritual

It’s been a while, but today I’ve managed to spend the morning reading, nurturing a cup of coffee. It’s a nice weekend ritual that I’ve had to neglect the past couple of weeks. I’ve missed it. Over and done with now though, the rest of the day is dedicated to writing and editing words. Enjoy your Saturday.
