How many times have you heard yourself say “What? It’s lunch time already? I haven’t prepared anything yet!”

We get lost in reading about the latest breaking news and watching the most-talked about viral video.

I for one just watched the video of the girl who threw pups in the river and I felt strong emotions. I just read a while ago about the nursing student who got expelled because she was blogging about her clinical experiences. Yesterday it was about medicare supplement plants because a friend asked me to research on that topic.

I don’t open my Twitter account on a daily basis for if I do, I would probably click the links here and there and accomplish nothing. I “listen” to my favorite tv series online when I have to meet online deadlines. No time to watch.

If there’s nothing good going on in my favorite series (like the channel is blocked, lol) I switch on the internet radio and get to choose the music that will play. Cool huh?

One common term we say when we need info on something? i-Google mo.

On the other hand, students learn a lot from studying science concepts through observation, experimentation, following instructions, and other learning skills necessary to understand what is being talked about.

One of the topics that was discussed for Science first trimester with my youngest daughter was ANIMALS which fell under the category of living things.

They studied about different kinds of animals which include movements, food eaten, habitat, body covering, baby animals and even taking care of these animals. What we did to learn a variety of concepts is to read varied books, watch DVDs and re-visit old photos from trips to the zoo.

Two of the educational DVDs we watched again and again even if the lessons have been discussed already were Wink to Learn Jungle Feathers and Wink to Learn African Safari.

Wink to Learn Jungle Feathers presented colorful birds from the Jurong Bird Park which is the world’s largest bird park.

Wink to Learn African Safari showed big animals from the Singapore Zoo which is considered as one of the world’s best zoos.

The children loved the flashcard videos because they watched it again and again. They even asked when we were coming over to Singapore to be able to see these animals in the flesh

The trip to my parents home started with the day getting hot. No problem with this since the children are doing their own things: the eldest child is tuned in to her MP3 players while the two younger ones are fast asleep. The day was not that bright but we can feel that the air was dry.

See the mirage?

Halfway through the trip we experienced heavy rains. I was a bit afraid about it because there is a part of the highway that we have to go through that has been severely damaged last year. Many houses have been washed away and there is a river where it is not supposed to be, under the road.

I fear for the safety of these people that they may be delivered from more suffering, especially now that the rainy season is here to stay.

I don’t know which is better, hot days or rainy days.  Why not a moderation of both?

Am I ready to go have a vacation after that wonderful weekend spent with the hubby last month? Yes,  I think I need another one after this month. Hmmm… what about somewhere where I can use snow boots perhaps? (in my dreams)

Wait, I forgot, this week is the week all three children take their trimestral exams and that means burning the midnight oil to make reviewers for this procrastinating mom.

Argh! On to making more reviewers. Check out some unfinished reviewers (well these have been finished for MY kids and unfinished for publication) that need to be transferred in Adobe Reader for those who are in need.

So, I’m making myself almost invisible in my blogs this week. Can’t wait for the tests to be done and give rewards to those who did good (post to be written about this, I hope).

I know it is a simple photo but this represented a wonderful weekend getaway I had with the hubby (and his family, my in-laws). We missed the children all right but with my mom staying with them at that time, we know we need not worry a thing.

If only we could do this more often and with the children in tow, now that would be even better.
