At first I thought it would be easy to do for even if I don’t get out of the house for a year, I’m  sure I am going to find  365 things to take photos of. Turned out this 2010 project 365 is quite difficult, hrhrhrhr.

This early I have to think of ways on how to take photos of sunset in various strategic locations and of food served arranged for aesthetic purposes. When I am out, I look for interesting things to take photos of, discreetly of course, lest I be branded as voyeur. People, couples, flowers, trees, food, even exit signs and buildings.

Not that I am complaining, I am not

Hmmm… as I have said, the real challenge is how I “see” with my eyes and with my camera the things I want to capture. I must say my 2010 Project 365 is like my photodiary.

I wrote in my about Pixie Pixels Photo Stories page that:

I am not concerned with highfalutin photography terms nor do I aim to take a picture perfect photo, I just want to have fun capturing images and telling the stories behind such images.

Susie Salmon said exactly what my thoughts were when I decided to do 2010 Project 365 in the book and movie “The Lovely Bones”:

“I had rescued the moment by using my camera and in that way had found a way to stop time and hold it. No one could take that image away from me because I owned it.”

Welcome to my not-so-new Photoblog, Pixie Pixels.

I am a bit tired of the usual (read: average) pasta dishes. When I went to watch Dona Elena Cuisinera Club cooking class last Saturday, I made the dish they presented, Almond Crusted Tilapia Fillets and Pasta, with a few tweaking to suit what I have at home.

Here are the adjustments I made.

We had this last Wednesday night because we celebrated a special family occasion. When hubby arrived, he told me to get a package. I thought it was a Nintendo Wii, turned out it was a cake

I went out of the house do something in the *dirty kitchen when I spotted the second full moon of this month hiding behind fast moving clouds.

Aha! I see you moon! I grabbed my camera and didn’t bother getting the tripod. I know the photo will not come out clear like some of these moon photos I have online but I like the way the clouds look.

You want to know what I make?

I make kids wonder,
I make them question.
I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them write, write, write.
And then I make them read.

either one of those words again.
I make them show all their work in math.
And hide it on their final drafts in English.
I make them understand that if you got this (brains)
then you follow this (heart) and if someone ever tries to judge you
by what you make, you give them this (the finger).

Since this is an event happening on Valentine’s Day, Thrill of the Trail NUVALI decided to add twist to the fun of doing trail running! What is it? There is an 11k Couples category where the couples participating in the trail run need to cross the finish line together while holding each other’s hand. No gender restrictions for the running couples.

Sweeeet! Talk about HHWW (holding hands while walking or in this case, while finishing a trail run).

This trail run seems so much more fun than doing a run on paved road.

Now this got me reminiscing the good old days

When I was younger, I’d join friends from church for long walks along unpaved, tree-lined streets with uphills and downhills roads to be able to go to the beach. We could have easily taken the tricycle but the thrill of walking to the beach and back along these (non)roads were definitely more fun than the other alternative.

We’d talk about stories of old, about “Hukbo” people lurking behind the trees, waiting for their Japanese enemies as we walk. Yes, we’d let our imaginations run wild. We’d stop by and gather flowers to take home. We’d chase butterflies and catch dragonflies too! We’d rest only when we feel our legs can’t take a step anymore.

I’m wishing my children would be would be able to do these things if not now, then maybe in the ear future. Too bad those trails I trekked before became a major highway. Sigh.

So I am just glad that trail running is gaining popularity here in the country because it makes people more appreciative of the beauty of nature. They also develop a respect for nature too.
