A Prayer for 2026
O God, may your family experience reconciliation and share that reconciliation with others.
¡Hola! from Team Arequipa! In 2026, we’re one family living and working in Arequipa, Peru, a developing city of 1.2 million people. Some friends of ours moved here in 2008. They shared faith as a church meeting in homes and founded CUDA, the Christian Urban Development Association. We (the Daggetts) have been here working with house churches, sharing faith in our neighborhoods, and planting seed of God’s reign through community development since 2014.
We believe the good news that God is rescuing, healing, and transforming the world. God acted through Jesus of Nazareth’s life, death, and resurrection and invites everyone to participate in new creation. This new reality looks like hope, joy, peace, grace, salvation, reconciliation, and justice. It’s what we believe Jesus meant when he talked about God's reign coming near.
Since God is on a mission to rescue the world, we work alongside Peruvian followers of Jesus to learn, serve, and share faith, hope, and love of neighbor. When we get together as a church we share a meal, bread and wine, we sing, pray, and read the Bible together. We share faith with friends, neighbors, and family and invite them to experience reconciliation in community as we love God by loving our neighbors. This has led us to work with children’s homes, the women’s prison, marriage mentoring, and families.
When God is reigning in the city, people experience justice, joy, and wellbeing. We work with CUDA (a non-profit, faith-based NGO) to empower vulnerable communities to overcome cycles of poverty. Our small team is working with several elementary schools to improve reading comprehension. Since 2013 we have worked with 200+ teachers and principals in 20 different schools and have impacted over 10,000 kids! We also build community with individuals from vulnerable communities, especially former sex workers and Arequipa’s marginalized transgender community. We do this all because of Jesus.

CUDA is a non-governmental, non-profit, faith-based organization that empowers vulnerable communities in urban Peru to overcome cycles of poverty. Team Arequipa works alongside Peruvians to participate in the kingdom breaking into the city. Our vision of justice, wellbeing, and joy in the city leads us to promote physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing through projects in the areas of education, health, finance, and the environment.
