An update for Gran Turismo Sport has been released. The following is a list of the main features introduced:
Main Features Implemented

Lobby
– Fixed a bug wherein if you switched from a track where the “Select Conditions” were set to “Wet” to a different track, then the new track would have “Wet” conditions too despite not originally featuring rain.

As for update 1.47 it is always a good update when we get new cars. This update came out about a week ago now, but if you haven’t tried it yet you are missing out. There are a few really cool new cars and one major track added to the game.

Cars

• Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG ’71

Not a ton of cars, but definitely all great ones. Even the tiny Mazda is fun to drive. Of course, the super cool Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Lamborghini Aventador SV are gonna be tons of fun. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG ’71 (also known as the “Red Pig”) is not something I expected, but racing fans will be very happy to be able to actually drive it around the track. It finished 2nd in 24 Hours of Spa, which is perfect as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps has also been added to the game.

Tracks

It is a great day as, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, has been added to the game. This has got to be one of my favourite tracks in all previous Gran Turismo games. It has tons of technical corners, but also huge straights. It is perfect for high hp cars as you can really stretch their legs there.

GT League

Beginner League – There are 2 new rounds added to the Group 4 Cup
Amateur League – Real Circuit Tours has 2 new rounds
Professional League – Nostalgic 1979 also has 2 new rounds
Endurance League – Only 1 new round for X2019 Competition Endurance Series

Spec II

Gran Turismo Sport Spec II doesn’t add too much over the original copy, but it does come with a few bonuses. Firstly, this new game comes with all the updates. This makes the initial downloading process a bit easier. It also has all the cars and newly added tracks included as well.

As a bonus to buying the Spec II version you will receive a few bonus cars and cash to help get you started. You are given access to 10 cars and 2.5 million credits. The cars included are:

If you are interested in the Spec II version it is available in Europe, Japan, North America, and South America. It is also available as a digital download or an actual disk.

Update 1.46

If you already have a copy of GT Sport than you will be happy to find out there is a new update. This update doesn’t feature too much, but changes a few things. For example, there is a new intro, small changes to the menu, and other minor changes to showcase Spec II is here.

Ironically, the Spec II copy that is supposed to have all the latest updates actually doesn’t ship with the current update. That means it will come with the Spec I intro and only once updated will players see the actual Spec II intro and other changes.

Even though there aren’t as many cars as in previous updates there are some pretty good ones. Mostly US cars, but one very nice Italian car.

Rain Tracks

Tracks that offer rain have only recently been added, but there aren’t that many of them. However, good news for people who love them as even more have been added.

There is actually four layouts of Tokyo Expressway — Central and East Loop track (forward and reverse).

GT League

A lot has been added in this section. A total of seven rounds, actually.

• Beginner League:
  “Stars & Stripes” has two additional rounds
• Amateur League:
  “Group 3 Cup” has two additional rounds
• Professional League:
  “La Festa Cavallino” has two additional rounds
• Endurance League:
  “Gr.1 Prototype Endurance Series” has one additional round

Scapes and Michelin

Michelin is a new GT Sport partner and with that will come a lot more sponsorship imagery. Their mascot the “Michelin Man” will be added throughout the game and so will their official blue and yellow colours.

Scapes gets additional rain locations. Driving in the rain is not always ideal for the fastest times, but it does make for some really cool shots.

The Porsche Taycan is the first Porsche that is all electric. It is basically the only real Tesla Model S competitor. It has been talked about for years and years, but is finally actually coming to production. There will currently be two versions. The Taycan Turbo S and the Taycan Turbo. I assume later on they will make a regular Taycan and a Taycan GTS. That is the standard range of Porsche models.

The Taycan Turbo S is all electric and has 751hp with a 0-60mph time of 2.6 seconds, which is crazy fast. However, the top range Tesla Model S can do it in 2.4 seconds. The Taycan Turbo S also starts at $185,000, which is much more than the fully loaded Tesla Model S. It is interesting to see the Porsche Taycan Turbo S not beating the Tesla in stats and still costing more. I assume they are going on brand and interior materials. With Tesla you basically get what they give you while Porsche has always offered much better interiors with better materials.

More Porsche Models Coming

Not only is the Taycan Turbo S coming to Gran Turismo Sport, but also the Taycan Turbo and the “917 Living Legend” race car. Also, a new Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, which is insanely cool. It, however, won’t be here for a while. Porsche is saying probably at the start of next year.

I am very excited to see more cars, especially Porsches being added. The Taycan has been a very anticipated car. Probably out of most people’s price range, but at least we get the opportunity to drive it in game. It recently set the record at the Nurburgring for the fastest four-door, all-electric vehicle with a time of 7:42. The current non electric four-door record holder is the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 ’18 with a time of 7:21.23. The Porsche Panamera Turbo ’17 did it in 7:38. Finally, to put it into perspective the Porsche 918 did it in 6:57. About 4 seconds slower than the Panamera, but also much heavier at over 5000lbs. That makes it about as heavy as the Tesla Model X, which is their SUV. Pretty impressive time considering that.

The biggest change in these updates is a ton of cars. There is usually a lot of car updates, but these updates give a lot of them, and they are pretty great ones.

As you can see from above, there are some awesome new cars added to the game. JDM fans are gonna be super happy with this selection as they are almost all Japanese cars. Of course, the two non Japanese cars, Porsche 911 Turbo (930) ’81 and Jaguar D-type ’54, are nothing to be upset about. They are both super awesome cars that I am sure everyone is excited to see.

GT Sport has been out for a while now and it is still weird to see a Porsche being added to the game. I keep expecting it to say “RUF” since Porsche has never been in any other Gran Turismo games.

GT League Events

Update 1.41 brings:

• “X2019 Competition Endurance Series”: Round 2

Update 1.43 brings:

• “Beetle & Samba Bus Fest” Rounds 4 and 5

Additional Updates

GT Sport fans will be excited to learn that update 1.43 brings wet conditions, which are now available at the Red Bull Ring and Red Bull Ring Short Track. You can find them in the time-of-day menu. There are various times you can race at while having wet conditions too.

New Scapes collection have been added in update 1.41 that players can take pictures of their cars at.

Other updates are minor physics changes to certain cars as well as other minor changes.

There are some really cool cars in this update. A huge range from small compacts to large trucks. Even the insane Red Bull X2019 race car has been added. There is definitely something everyone will enjoy.

Tracks

What’s the point of new cars if we have no place to drive them on? Don’t worry, as there are new and exciting tracks added in this update too. A new track called “Sardegna” has just been added. You might be thinking, but wait, they already have that track in the game? Yes, they do, but as a rally location. Now you can drive it as a road location.

Another interesting thing about this track is they also added not one, but three new layouts for it. A large, medium, and small. Also, you can drive forward or backwards on them technically making it six new layouts. I don’t think there are any other tracks that have that many layouts and a rally version, which is pretty cool.

GT League

With the new Red Bull Race Car brings a new endurance event for it as well as other events. The Red Bull endurance event is 30 laps, which I am sure will fly by since that car is so crazy fast.

• Beginner League: Light Weight K Cup received two more events
• Amateur League: Gr.B Rallycross received two more events
• Professional League: Group 1 Cup received two more events
• Endurance League: Gr.1 Prototype Endurance Series received one event

Scapes/More

A new “Low-Angle – Ground Up” has been added to the special featured section. This is basically as the name implies, a very low angle that looks up to make your car look bigger and meaner.

Other minor changes are transmission fixes for various cars. A lot of other transmission changes for people using wheels. Timing of the gears when shifting etc. Also, other small bug fixes and minor changes have been added.

New Track

Of course, Goodwood is a very well known circuit that hosts Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is a short hill climb in the UK that usually races historic race cars, but more recently modern cars as well. There is always a very unique collection of cars that turn up at this event. However, now you too can drive your favourite car up the famous track without even leaving the couch.

Amateur League

• Two rounds added to the Nostalgic Car Festival.
• Two rounds added to the Supra Legend.
• Two rounds added to the Super Formula Championships.

Professional League

• Two rounds added to the F1500 Championship.

Endurance League

• One round added to the Porsche Cup.

Scapes and More

The special featured section now has Editor’s Choice II. That means Polyphony employees have picked their favourite places to make it easier for players to choose epic spots to take pictures of their cars.

Also, there are other smaller bugs and fixes that have been changed.

Drift fans get excited. They have brought the Toyota Sprinter Trueno 3door 1600GT APEX (AE86) ’83 to GT Sport! This is a classic JDM drift car that I am sure everyone in the drift community was waiting for and is excited to see. The other cars are pretty cool too. Definitely something for everyone.

GT League

This update brings a total of six new events. Two for each level. Beginner (Compétition de France), Amateur (Tourist Trophy), and Pro (Group 1 Cup).

Scapes/Other

A New Zealand location has been added to scapes. New Zealand is a very beautiful place and I am sure a picture of your favourite car there will make it look extra special.

Players can now check their Global Manufacturer Ranking in the FIA-certified Manufacturers Series. This will give them a better perspective on where they are against others in the world.

Basically, in update 1.36 they changed the way F1 style cars drive. This didn’t go to well for players using H-pattern shifters. It slowed down gears changes a ton and anyone using one was obviously frustrated. However, Polyphony Digital realized this pretty quickly and this update reverts back to how H-pattern shifters used to work.

Also, “the clutch pedal and full manual mode are not allowed in ‘Sport’ mode” is the other change. They also list other minor changes, but nothing you will notice.

Other than those two minor changes that is all for this update. Not a big one for the majority of people, but definitely a good one if you were one of the people affected by the H-pattern issue.
