&amp;quot;Basecamp is a fantastic project management solution that is well-deserved of the attention it gets, but at the end of the day, we use Teamwork PM in our company.&amp;quot;

For all of you who are new to TeamworkPM (TWPM) I want to over the next few weeks to share some top tips on using TWPM and also to show off some of the features that we have.

Today I&amp;rsquo;m going to show you one of our most powerful and useful features that we have which is the multiple files uploader.&amp;nbsp; Once in the file section within a project you can upload as many files as you want in one go into the project that you are working on.

This is a very fast an easy way to upload files into a project and it&amp;rsquo;s something that is often missing from other online Project management s.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/iFVZYuWRFSM" height="1" width="1"/>

I thought I would write this quick blog post on the subject of &amp;ldquo;task templates&amp;rdquo; as we have gotten a lot of feedback from you all asking where and how do we setup task Templates.
Because of all this feedback we are looking at another way to access these as well as an easier way to find/create them, but in the mean time I wanted to write this quick tutorial to help you all out with task templates.
Step 1:
Go to the setting tab at the top right on the dashboard view

Step 2:
In the settings page you will see the Task List Templates section, click on the blue Edit button to go th.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/2YE17mVmL90" height="1" width="1"/>

One area that we feel has been letting us down and getting under our skin is the email messages which relate to files when they are uploaded into a project.

New servers for TeamworkPM

Some of you may have noticed a few small moments over the past few weeks where TeamworkPM has been responding a bit slower than normal, this has been due to our growing number of users putting extra strain on our current servers. This has been both a good and bad thing for us. The good side is we have learned a lot about optimising TeamworkPM.
The bad side to this increase in users is, there is only so much optimising one can do, so to combat this we are now weeks away from moving TeamworkPM over to our new cluster of high-performance servers. These servers will provide all the power and perf.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/px0S4rIbZOc" height="1" width="1"/>

Just a quick note to let you know that over the last weekend, we stayed up very late to find the best possible window to update the underlying application server.

This is something more akin changing the engine in your car than just an oil change.

At 3am on Saturday night, when the worldwide network traffic was at it lowest ebb, we put up a message to say that we were going to be down for a little while and started to feverishly update our servers.

After an amazingly short downtime of only 30 minutes, Teamwork was back up and running with the new engine, ahem, new application server r.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/Uqu3KANFjA4" height="1" width="1"/>

The new Resources feature is similar in layout and functionality to the Files tab. Resources can be grouped into Folders for categorization and listed grouped by date.

Over the last 2 weeks we have received 56 requests for a Gantt chart view of projects or a graphical way of seeing at a glance how your projects are shaping up.
We have always been cautious of adding Gantt charts but we feel the time has come to introduce a basic graphical gantt chart view of your projects&apos; progress.
One of the hardest part of scheduling projects is finding a free time slot. To accomodate this new graphical view, 2 new fields have been added to projects

    Project Start Date
    Project End Date

The fields are of course optional but if they are used, you can view.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/n5HR54k8coM" height="1" width="1"/>

Now when you click on a page that you have visited before, the only thing that will load is the page HTML ie. just your data. All the images and code will be loaded already.

Check out how much faster the Project Overview page loads now:

Items that show in the feed include:

This update requires a re-import of the calendar address.
Information on how to do this is available here : index.cfm/page/tutorials

Today we rolled out an update that allows people to quickly see tasks due on particular days from the Calender View. You can quickly see the number of tasks per day with late tasks highlighted in red. Clicking on the Tasks will bring you to a new page listing all tasks for that particular day.

This update also bring the following changes:

New Feature: File View Thumbnails

At Digital Crew, we eat our own dogfood as they say in the software business; this means we use our own software on a daily basis and it helps us spot the flaws and identify ways to make the product continually better.
Today I needed to find a particular image on the files page of a project and it was difficult to do so without thumbnails. This spurred me into action and an hour later, we rolled out an update that allows you to see previews of all your image files.

There&apos;s been a lot of subtle updates lately that we haven&apos;t been blogging about.
For example, on the settings page, you&apos;d fin.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/FDrag1enWE4" height="1" width="1"/>

The custom site address feature we advertised on this blog and has really taken off for us with lots of customers now using their own custom sub-domain names for TeamworkPM while still hosting their projects on our servers.

We think it&apos;s really nice for our customers to really make Teamwork their own by using their own domain name. As far as we know, no other similar product such as BaseCamp or GoPlan offers this ability to their customers.

2 days ago a customer in Texas had actually registered a completely new domain for use with his teamwork account (something like www.companyNameProje.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/IKB9LK4Iftw" height="1" width="1"/>

Company Calendar iCal Feed

We have just released an update that allows you to subscribe to your company calendar from your favourite calendar application such as Outlook, Google Calendar, iCalendar, Sunbird etc
When you view your calendar you will see a link Calendar iCal Feed in the calendar sidebar which will allow you to subscribe to events you or your co-workers add.

Useful Tips
To get the most out of the calendar it is good to use the categories associated with each iCal entry to color code your events in your calendar application. To help, we have automatically created some categories in the feed.

By popular request, we have now added the ability for you to change the URL at which you access your TeamworkPM site to another web address.

What does that mean?
Well, if your site address was something like http://mycompany.teamworkpm.net/, you can now change it to something like http://projects.mycompany.com or http://pm.mycompany.com etc.. Or even a full new domain name such as www.mycompanysprojects.com.

That&apos;s cool, I&apos;d like to use http://pm.mycompany.net/ - how do I set it up?

This is a fantastic way to quickly see exactly what tasks you need to be working on today across all your projects or for a specific project.

More great UI features coming soon. Keep the feedback rolling in!

Thanks to the growing demand from some of our customers who have been&amp;nbsp;requesting more storage space within their current plans, and the fact that we have just purchased some spanking new servers, we now have more storage space to go round for everyone.
So whats changed in the plans, well to start off we&amp;nbsp;have increased our Business 1 plan from 500MB to 4GB.
We have&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;increased the Business 2 plan as well, up&amp;nbsp;from 5GB up to 10GB and we have also increased our Corporate plan from 10GB up to 25GB.

New Feature : Date Entry Format Options

One of the most frequent requests from users is the ability to enter a date in a format other than dd/mm/yyyy
Last night we rolled out an update to allow users to set the format they wish to use for date entry through-out the application.
You can choose:

    dd/mm/yyyy
    mm/dd/yyyy

Existing users can edit this from their My Account page. This option can be set while editing and adding users to your installation. The default remains dd/mm/yyyy but a future update may tie the default to the installation timezone.

As always, we love hearing your feedback to drop us a line!.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/2iNZVeRn-XI" height="1" width="1"/>

Speed Improvements

Last week, we quitely rolled out some improvements to the speed of Teamwork Project Manager.

The speed that the application loads should now be noticably faster for the following reasons:

We now load 2 medium sized files instead of 20 or so assorted stylesheet and javascript files.
We compact the code and remove all whitespace from the files to make the download as small as possible.
We use something called e-tags to instruct your browser not to download a file again if it has it already.

We are working on some other measures to make TeamworkPM even faster... stay tuned......<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/uLz_WDyFXcI" height="1" width="1"/>

Everyone's Calendar

The calendar is working out great for a whole load of people but another common request is to have an Everybody&apos;s Calendar option in the calendar chooser drop down.
Todays enhancement to the calendar&amp;nbsp;allows you to view a full calendar of all peoples scheduled events on the same page.
No longer do you have to choose their specific calendar to see what they are up to. We also added in the persons name next to the event to make it easier to see who scheduled what.
Its a small change with a big benefit to usability!<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/WK62OJ4G6KI" height="1" width="1"/>

Finally the big permission architecture change is in place and working well, so its back to fine tuning various aspects of the existing features.
One of the areas that alot of people requested changes is the calendar view and we couldnt agree more. We have just rolled out a small but important change in how you edit events.
Before you had to select the day and edit the events from the days events list on the left hand side.
This was unintuitive and cumbersome so its been enhanced.
We got a great suggestion regarding the size of the new message content area&amp;nbsp;from one of our new users last night and as its the Bank Holiday weekend over here, I said I would add it to Teamwork Project Manager today.
Choosing text area dimensions is a juggling act; make them too small and the user has to scroll constantly to establish context and make revisions; make them too big and you risk wasting valuable screen real-estate!
To enable the best of both worlds, I have implemented a feature that grows and shrinks the message writing area depending on the length&amp;nbsp;of your message p.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/PHp_180-Ilc" height="1" width="1"/>

The one thing I get finding myself doing was replying to the notification emails to reply to the comment....I was so used to the reply by email functionality of project messages!
Tonight, I added the ability to reply to comments via emails too. Any email notifications for&amp;nbsp;comments placed on Tasks, Files&amp;nbsp;or Notebooks can now be replied to and your new comment added to Teamwork Project Manager!

One of the most requested feature from customers and our own staff is the ability to add a comment to an item. While the messages serve as a good discussion ground, there are times where you want to add a comment on a notebook, task or file.
This weekend we implmented a generic commenting system on the following:

    Tasks
    Notebooks
    Files

We are debating on whether there is merit in being able to comment on milestones.
The comments are fast to add and even faster to view. Notifications can be sent via email and also show up on the Dashboard and Project Overview page.

New Feature : Task List Templates

One item that has been on our roadmap for quite some time and a feature lots of people have asked us for is the ability to create Task List Templates.

Task List Templates are groups of tasks that can used to create new task lists across all your projects. As you projects grow in number, you will find yourself creating the same tasks over and over again.

New Feature : Quick Add Multiple Tasks

Adding tasks to Teamwork Project Manager is fast and easy but there are times where I find myself adding multiple tasks and wished it was easier. Most of the time, the task particulars are the same with the actual task being different.
There are loads of ideas flying around in here on how we can extend the functionality of the tasks section such as:

Import from Ms Project, CSV etc
    Task Templates
Copy tasks from an existing project
    etc

While all these items are on the road map, I wanted something quick and dirty so last night I took the time to allow you add tasks .....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/lr5llM4ayko" height="1" width="1"/>

While it is nice to see absolutely everything thats going on across your organisations projects, sometimes the shear amount of data is over whelming. At any given time, the most important items that I need information on are items assigned to me.
To help make Teamwork Project Manager more flexible, easier to use and more efficient, we have added a new feature that allows you to set if you want to see late and upcoming items from everyone or just you.

Its as simple as clicking a link to change the view and is persistant across sessions.
This Settings Bar is available on the following pages.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/aeI_j9NnhI4" height="1" width="1"/>

New Feature : Send Task Reminder Email

While looking through&amp;nbsp;the late tasks on one particular project, I found myself wishing I could nudge or alert one of my colleagues that they had a late task that really should be complete or I felt they were neglecting.
Today (as the St. Patricks Day Parade passes by my office window) I added a new option on the task tool bar called Alert.
The Alert option is only available on tasks that are assigned to somebody and sends a friendly reminder email to the person assigned the task.
To use this option, simply click on a task and choose Alert from the task toolbar that loads in......<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/WRrArF4H6a4" height="1" width="1"/>

Using Teamwork Project Manager every day to manage over 100 projects gives me a good idea of what is required to make somebody more productive. One of the questions I find myself asking everytime I log in is &amp;quot;What do I need to do next?&amp;quot;
To answer this question automatically, I have added a new feature and tab on the Dashboard called Upcoming Tasks. This works in the same way as Late Tasks and is signified by the blue badge notification icon.

This will bring you to the Upcoming tasks due in the next 7 days screen which allows you to work with the tasks directly.

New Feature - All Late Tasks Over All Projects

One of the primary functions of Teamwork Project Manager is the ability to set tasks for a project. We recently added the Task Due Date option and worked hard at integrating this new functionality across the software.
Sometimes though you may not set a date on an individual task but instead tie the task list to a milestone which has a due date. What happens when this date has passed and the milestone is late? You miss some tasks.
As its St Patricks Weekend (Irelands most famous holiday)&amp;nbsp;, I figured I&apos;d get some solid work done on Teamwork Project Manager and add a feature I have wanted .....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/9SMDUu47Bqs" height="1" width="1"/>

Bug Fix : Reply by email not working for some emails

First off, I must apologise to some people for the amount of emails and comments from messages that may have come flooding in.
We had a slight issue with the reply to message&amp;nbsp;by email functionality which caused a bit of a clog up of emails that should have been parsed and attached to your messages. This issue was specific to only a few installations and is fully resolved now.
Again, I apologise for the inconvenience, the only good thing is that no message has been lost but the dates may be out of sync with the time they were really sent.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/UasJ7gg_ueY" height="1" width="1"/>

March 2008 Roadmap

We are rolling out improvements and updates almost daily .

Much of the work is under-the-hood stuff that goes unseen. We recently added an automatic database update facility that will ensure database updates are rolled out easily (allowing us to provide improvements that much faster).

More work involves making critical interface improvements - for example, we had noticed that Internet Explorer got a little slow when there were loads of files on a project so last night we rolled out an update that allows the files pages to render more quickly. And Dan added the option to mark milestones a.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/Tl-8uRpPUYY" height="1" width="1"/>

Since we added the feature to set dates on tasks, we are steadily integrating the addition with many areas of the application.
While we have lots of notifications through email and RSS, there was one major report I really wanted to help fine tune my day : Daily Late Items Report
Basically, the Daily Late Items Report is an email sent at 4am GMT to every user that has outstanding Milestones or Tasks. Like the All&amp;nbsp;Tasks PDF Report, the data is nicely grouped by Project with any late milestones showing first and then all the tasks grouped under the task lists.
This report has one more spe.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/cdhra7i7uSg" height="1" width="1"/>

Update : Private Notebook Pages and Private Milestones

I have been wanting to implement this for ages and while we are implementing the ability to mark any object as private, I said I would start with Notebooks and then move on to Milestones.
It makes sense that we allow not only messages and files to be private (accessible to members of your company only) but also Notebooks, Milestones and Tasks.
You can now edit a Notebook or Milestone and set it as Private.
The Private Tasks section will be here in a few days.
Another quick update while I was working on the Notebooks section is the ability to rename notebook pages. A bit too long overdue :-.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/ma004JCbUto" height="1" width="1"/>

Thank you to everyone for their very valuable feedback and suggestions.
We have taken quite a bit of this on board and worked on introducing a few of them this week.
The main area to get a much needed addition/update was the All Items - All Tasks page. Since we introduced Task Due Dates we have been slowly integrating this feature with other areas of Teamwork Project Manager.
One of the areas crying out for this data was the All Tasks page. We have now a specific Report for all tasks with the following features:

Featuring a nice clean interface, efficient time and task tracking (including due dates on individual tasks), and really nice collaboration options, I&amp;rsquo;m really impressed by all of the available features.
Support has been prompt and excellent, updates are frequent, and communication from the developers via their blog is outstanding.

Again, we&apos;ve listened to your feedback and we committed ourselves to getting one of the most requested features implemented for you. Today we put live changes that allow you to specify the Due Date on individual tasks!

Before we uploaded this change, the only way a date could be associated with a task was if that task was related to a milestone. But that was very limiting.

Now, when you add or edit any task you have the ability to optionally set the due date for that task.

One of the problems we faced on various projects was the shear amount of task lists. On one particular project, we have over 30 task lists i.e: Suggestions, Must Do ASAP, Nice Additions etc
As a result, the Tasks page was taking quite a while to render and it was difficult to see the particular task list you were currently working on. A lot of people wanted a way of expanding and collapsing task lists so we weren&apos;t the only ones having the issue.
I decided to implement this feature over the weekend. The state (Expanded / Collapsed) is persistant on your machine using tiny cookies and makes t.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/Q3vx1gnM4g8" height="1" width="1"/>

Today, I added categories. A new button is available that will allow you create a new category and provide a brief description. This little update also makes it easier to view notebooks and follows the style through the application.
Existing notebook pages are not affected and are displayed first followed by the new categories.

We worked very hard to present the files sections with an uncluttered and intuitive interface. When you access your list of files, we tried to keep the visual impact at a minimum to provide the user with just what he/she needs. Advanced features are kept a click away to reduce to noise on-screen. So no training manuals should be needed here.

Hey all! Since I have access to my email on a mobile device, I always thought it would be cool to be able to reply to a message via email.
I am delighted to announce that this functionality has been implemented. Perfect for users who receive their email via a Blackberry, iPhone or PDA.
In the next few days expect this functionality to be further enhanced to include:

Ability to attach files to your email that will be attached to the message post
Notify all users talking in a conversation that a new reply has been added

Hope you enjoy this feature and find is as useful as I do!.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/FvQEbgayjDU" height="1" width="1"/>

November / December Updates

We have been busy for the last few weeks making vital changes to Teamwork Project Manager.
Not only has the interface been redesigned, alot of functionality has gone through the ringer and we are extremely happy with the results.
Some of the major improvements made include:

New interface for Task Lists. Clicking a task will now load in a toolbar with the following options

Edit - Allows you to edit the task
Log Time - Allows you to log time spent on the task
Move Task - Allows you to move the task to a different task list

Complete Interface Redesign

I have spent the last 2 days under house-arrest redoing the interface for Teamwork Project Manager. I called up Adam, our graphic designer mystro on Friday night and asked him to meet me at 1pm on Saturday.

Adam duly turned up and we got stuck into the redesign. Roll on 7pm and we had a much improved interface design worked-out.

What&apos;s new? In a word - curves. In 3 words - curves and simplicity.

This is the before screenshot:

And now the after screenshot:

I put the changes live at about 8pm. No doubt some customers will be surprised when they log in tomorrow morning!

We received thousands of hits and hundreds of sign-ups in 24 hours. So thanks and welcome to anybody who found us through CSSMania. We are delighted that our website and product has got so much exposure.

Now, apart from this blog, so far, we&apos;ve kept the launch of TeamworkPM pretty hush hush but this was our first major annoucement - we have arrived!<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/HMLVyxEmpvM" height="1" width="1"/>

Ask and ye shall received - I put aside 30 minutes to add in this ability just now.

In the coming days, I&apos;ll add in the ability to generate invoices from these items. Stay tuned.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/Ybfoo2ws7tE" height="1" width="1"/>

Project Risk Analysis and Register

An important component of project management is for your whole team to understand the aspects that may impact a projects cost, schedule and performance.
We have now added a new project section that allows the project manager define risk sources and define the probabiliy and impact these sources may have on a project.
The theory is simple. Add a risk source (e.g : Data migration issues) and gauge the probability of the risk happening on a scale of 1 - 9, gauge the impact on the project using a scale of 1 - 9 and define the areas of the project which are impacted if the source is realised.
New Feature - Tasks - Long description Support

It&apos;s one of these things that was easy to implement but makes a massive difference - I added the ability to attach a longer description to any task item. It took about 30 minutes but it&apos;s so much neater and helps ours users keep organised.

As always, I tried to keep the visual impact on the application to a minimum. The new feature shouldn&apos;t clutter the interface or get in your way......<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/fBFu76cBcmU" height="1" width="1"/>

Project Milestones Mini Calendar

While working on a project yesterday which has many many milestones, I decided it was high time we added the ability to quickly look ahead at the next 3 months.
I added a 3 month mini calendar view on the Project Milestones page which color codes the days of the month that certain milestones fall due.
I had one small issue where a late and an upcoming milestone were on the same day. After some thinking I came up with a nice way of displaying days with different types of milestones. Play around to see the effect ;-)
The way it works is that the 3 month view starts at the month that the longe.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/Y57e9kg8U3g" height="1" width="1"/>

Project Management is only as good as the information that is both supplied and generated.
We realise that there are many aspects to good project management and sit down meetings&amp;nbsp;are an integrated process in organising your team.
Our latest addition to Teamwork Project Manager allows you to get a PDF report of each particular project. On the project overview, there is a new button Project Report which gives a structured breakdown of your milestones, task lists and tasks.

Click the Download PDF button and make your offline meetings more productive!

Tabs & Header Improvement (I think)

I&apos;m not a graphic artist by any stretch of the imagination. But tonight when I sat down to force myself to work on the new and long awaited file section, I decided instead to work on improving the page title header.

I played with all sorts of shades and effects before finally settling on the simple plain color you see below.

Once I was happy with that improvement, it suddenly struck me that the rounded edges of the tabs were slightly too much. I also adjusted the selected tab so that it has a slight gradient from white to grey and is a little taller than the other tabs.

Today I upgraded TeamworkPM so that from now on all passwords will be stored as hashes with an additional seed value - a technique called a Salted Hash. Tonight I&apos;ve added in the ability to remove an existing time log entry. When you delete an item -

We confirm you want to delete it (I may change this later to match the rest of the applications Do-It-and-provide-an-undo style later).

Before I outline today&apos;s improvements, let me first explain the dashboard custom view.

Dashboard Custom View
On the dashboard you have 2 views modes - the full view and the custom view. The full view shows the latest activity in all your projects. The custom view only shows the latest activity in the projects you have currently starred.

To &amp;quot;star&amp;quot; or &amp;quot;un-star&amp;quot; a project you simply click the star icon beside a project&apos;s name. After a second (we have a slight delay to give you time to star several items) the view changes from the full view to the custom view.

Quick Add Links Per Project On Dashboard Added

One thing I found after months of using Teamwork Project Manager is that there is no easy way of creating items from the dashboard apart from a new project.
This evening, it bugged me so much I went away and added it.
On the dashboard now where the projects are listed, I added 3 links per project to create:

    A New Milestone
A New Task List and ability to add tasks right away
    A New Message

The change looks like the following:

IE6 Support Finally Added! Phew!

I finally got the last of the IE6 show stopping&amp;nbsp;issues ironed out and&amp;nbsp;Teamwork Project Manager is now updated to allow IE6 users!
There is one little quirk on the task page which I am still working on but it is more an annoyance in the UI than actually stopping tasks from being added/edited etc
If you find anything strange, let me know and I&apos;ll have it sorted! On a side note, according to Google Analytics&amp;nbsp;59% of our visitors are currently running IE6! That was far more than either Peter or myself imagined......<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/qgLpiO72blw" height="1" width="1"/>

Your password is secure

That feedback feature I added has worked out great so far. We&apos;ve got some great suggestions and enquiries in.

One customer used to feedback option to contact us. He had used the option to retrieve a lost password and wondered why the password we emailed him was different to the password he originally provided.

The answer, I replied, is security.
We do not store your passwords!

Instead we store a HASH of the passwords.

Today's New Feature: Feedback Added

So 1 day down and we&apos;ve had a monkey-load of installations!
Just about everybody is using the free account... so I guess we&apos;ll have our work cut out convincing people to upgrade but that&apos;s OK... I relish the challenge.

OK, I&apos;ve decided that i&apos;m going to try to add at least one feature, bug fix or enhancement everyday. Today I added something that really should have been there from the start... the ability to um, well, cancel one&apos;s account if you must.

Cancel Account

Not a feature I relished in adding but it had to be done. Before we cancel the account, we try to encourage the user to.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/6QZ6VMLSRnI" height="1" width="1"/>

We have launched!

We have finally launched!!
And what a wild ride it has been getting everything ready.

The Website - Final Days
About a 5 days ago we had this marketing website almost complete. We stood back and looked at what we had created... and we decided... it sucked. Against the pressure of the looming launch date chiseled in stone on the preview website, we started again. We threw away the old website and said to our designer, Adam, &amp;quot;Hey Buddy, um... we don&apos;t like the site. Can you cook us up something prettier?&amp;quot;.

Lo and behold, he disappeared off the face of the Earth for 2 days and r.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/9Q46plGhEPY" height="1" width="1"/>

Teamwork Project Manager Launches

We got there!
After a gruelling few days hard work and an extremely long day yesterday, Topper and myself finally hit our launch milestone and Teamwork Project Manager went live
Already the feedback has been excellent and a roadmap of features will be defined and uploaded today sometime. People really really like the UI and the Teamwork PM approach to Project Management
Some of the features I cant wait for myself, such as:

Project Notebooks - Like a mini version comparing word processor without the crap
Windows App (My Baby) - A tabbed multiple project installation host for Te.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/CEjfBXPsg1U" height="1" width="1"/>

Location / Timezones detection added

Its 3.24am - I&apos;m been Working on detecting where the user is from so that I display the correct timezone for him. It&apos;s not as easy as you might think. For example, if a user is in Djiion, France, the timezoneId should be 56 , an index into the timezones table which says this is GMT+1.

12 Sept
I have messages finished with about a week now. The flash uploading is working nicely but I&apos;d better do some testing with older browsers.

I just had an idea - we did some research a while back on a project for .net one click install and we now can&apos;t remember where the code is or the steps to enable.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/VacNRbuuK34" height="1" width="1"/>

TeamworkPM is really coming along nicely now. We are using it daily to manage our 50 or so active projects at Digital Crew - so we really are &amp;quot;eating our own dogfood&amp;quot;, as they say. Because we are using this so-much, we have come up with a fist-load of useful features and optimizations that will really benefit our customers when we release.

Which reminds me, after some debate, we have finally set the launch date - as you should be able to see in the countdown above if viewing this post on the Preview site. So 51 days left!

Why are we taking so long when we already have this whol.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/0Zr6akE_AmI" height="1" width="1"/>

Weekend Programming

Working on the weekend just fixed a few bugs on TW. Nothing too stressful.
I finally marked today in the date picker calendar with a slightly different style.
When fixing the bug &amp;quot;Todo list can be created with no name&amp;quot;... I just decided that
it would be nice to not force the user to put in the list name and to give them
it a good default name - something better than &amp;quot;Untitled To-do list&amp;quot;...
How about &amp;quot;To-do List - Wednesday January 20&amp;quot;.
Dan has been working on the RSS feeds so I just added the overall RSS feed to the home page.
I really must stop playing ar.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/CkyU8Zt8jJk" height="1" width="1"/>

Sexual New Tabs

Today Dan added sexual new tabs to the header. A major improvement over the old blocky tabs our competitors use.
Unfortunately I had checked-in my work-in-progress on the messages section last week and
when Dan updated the live copy with the latest version from source control - it installed my half-done work.
We&apos;ll have to be very careful making updates when this goes live.
I should mention we have a mechanism in place for displaying an &amp;quot;Upgrade in progress&amp;quot; message on the screen
while we make major changes.
ASIDE: Last night I dreamt up a way to prevent javascript files from c.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/wr6iQs6GgWY" height="1" width="1"/>

Project Quick Dropdown Upgrade

I have loads of work to do but while using Teamwork, I had to enter a new project. I found it annoying to
have to click to the dashboard and then click new project to quickly add a new project. I had been checking
the project dropdomn menu to see if the project I needed already existed.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Then I thought, I should really be able to add a new project from the drop down. It makes sense: the
user scans the drop-down, can&apos;t see the required project and should be then able to quickly add it.
So that&apos;s just what I&apos;ve done - the dropdown now had an OPTIONS sections at the bottom .....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/PdDJQ_so_-M" height="1" width="1"/>

Messages are tougher than they look

Message categories are a cause for thought so excuse this braindump.

If I just copy the installation categories to the projectMessageCategories table, I will end up with a massive database with the same categories repeating again and again for each project. This is easy to manage but swells the database with records.

I want each project to be able to have it&apos;s own categories so I suppose I just have to bite
the bullet and do it this way.

The other way was to allow multiple project to reference the same categoryId... but this
would cause management headaches - what if project 1 remov.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/x_77bgCOFhs" height="1" width="1"/>

Coming soon: Messages

In the office on Sunday at 7.30pm - I want to get the messages section done tonight if possible.
Been busy all weekend. Hopefully Dan will have found to put the initial teaser website live.
I&apos;m starting to put &amp;lt;!--- TODO: Change Text ---&amp;gt; in the code everywhere I want to copywriter
to modify text.

I&apos;ve just finished designing the messages and message files tables.
I have a idea for the messages page - I&apos;m going to list just the titles and switch to
full message view when a user clicks on a message. Updated and new messages will be in bold......<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/aCdQ5BbOYuQ" height="1" width="1"/>

Improved Email Quality

Some testers had said the emails looked like spam on first glance so I have just improved the format emails are sent.

The from address is now much neater and from signup onwards, it uses the installation name like no-reply@InstallationDomain.com

Also all email subjects are now prepended with the installation name.

I also added the ability to resend welcome emails at Sam&apos;s requst yesterday - the dummy had entered some emails incorrectly for an installation
and wanted to be able to easily resend the emails without having to delete/recreate the users.

Looking forward to adding the Me.....<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TeamworkProjectManager/~4/RW_CSJxS7_s" height="1" width="1"/>
