Jordy Berson, Director of Product Management, at BitTorrent said that the premium services in form of uTorrent Plus are not going to affect the free uTorrent client in any way and users will receive the same level of commitment and development resources as it does now; as an assurance to 100 million active users of the most used BitTorrent client.

Expected to release later this year, BitTorrent hasn’t released major details related to the project, except the following:

µTorrent Plus is designed for people who are looking for a single solution to find, get and play content anywhere, on any device. Hassles with codec and conversion issues, struggles with device shifting, and more will be a thing of the past.

Invitation to uTorrent Plus

With scarce details provided for the upcoming project, BitTorrent announced that uTorrent Plus will be available as invite-only beta prior to its public release.

Although it’s strange that a client which most of the people use to download free and pirated versions of paid softwares will itself be available as a paid version as well. Sooner or later, it will be ripped on torrents as well like any other paid software.

Features of Mac OS X Lion

The final version of Mac OS X Lion will have 250 new features, of which 10 were discussed and previewed yesterday at the Developer Conference. Here’s a walkthrough of the same:

– Multitouch Gestures

With Mac OS X Lion, all the multi-touch gestures of iOS will work on the desktop and laptop based operating system as well. The new set of multitouch gestures include Rubber-band scrolling, Tap to zoom in Safari & Preview and Swiping.

– Full screen applications

OS X Lion will have built-in support for full screen Applications, to take advantage of the entire screen. Apart from this, OS X will have multiple full-screen Apps running at the same time, which can be switched from one App to another. Users can navigate between Apps using built-in gestures as well.

– Mission Control

Mission Control allows users to visualize everything they’re running on their Mac, in a single view. Mission Control brings open windows, full-screen apps, spaces and Dashboard altogether in one-view. Users can swipe  left or right, to move across Mission Control items.

Also, with Exposé, users can group windows of the same application. With OS X Lion, users can add and remove desktop spaces fron Mission Control or bind an application to particular space by making the selection from contextual menu.

– Auto Save

With Auto Save, users need not worry about manually saving their documents after making changes in them. The document will be automatically updated for the changes made, and all this goes on in the background so that there’s no distraction of pauses or progress bar for the users.

Also, users can lock a document at any time to prevent changes or revert the documents to the last saved version; that is, it allows users to easily undo the changes made to the document.

– Launchpad

Apple has now made it easier for the Mac users to browse across Apps installed on their desktop or laptop with Launchpad. Apps are added to full-screen Launchpad pages, which makes it easy to access, without going through the Applications folder. Mac OS X Lion users can quickly access these applications, re-arrange them, delete them, organize Apps into folders and add favorite apps to dock.

Navigation through the Application in Launchpad pages is made easier with gestures as three-finger swipe to move across Launchpad pages.

– Auto Resume Apps

– Mac App Store with In-app Purchase

Mac App Store is now available with Mac OS X from quiet sometime. Providing OS X users, one place to purchase & download Applications and update them as well, OS X Lion brings additional feature of in-app purchases to Mac App Store, allowing developers to offer additional content for purchase within their applications.

Developers can also using Apple’s push-notifications to deliver updates to app users even when they’re not using the application.

– AirDrop

AirDrop provides OS X users, a simple way to send files wirelessly to any other OS X user around. It uses Peer-to-Peer Wi-Fi between Macs, without any initial settings or wireless network requirement. The nearby Macs are discovered automatically and files can be shared by simple dragging and dropping onto person’s contact photo.

The files transfer is secure & Firewall protected and to verify the sender’s identity, while sharing files through AirDrop, Apple ID can be used, making it a completely safe file sharing technique.

– Re-designed Apple Mail

Apple has redesigned it’s Mail app so as to take advantage of widescreen display on Mac. Full-screen mode allows users to compose emails without distractions. Additional features include; Favorites bar for one-click access to mail folders, Message Preview for a quick preview of messages which also previews contact photo and two lines of email, Conversations providing a better way to read emails as the related ones are grouped.
