Over the last few years, podcasting has been growing by leaps and bounds. With more people joining the podcasting ranks, the number of pod hosting sites and software programs have grown as well.

Recently I was asked if I knew of a podcast host which would allow shows to be pre-recorded or made onsite but scheduled for a later air time. I do know of one that would probably fit the bill and that one is TalkShoe.

TalkShoe has a variety of options available to meet the needs of podcasters. The free recording, storage, and bandwidth options are especially appealing. TalkShoe allows you to host live episodes and record as you go. You may also choose to record and schedule shows for a later time. Do you have a show you’d like to upload? That is an available option too.

When it comes to listeners and participants, there are some great options. For instance, an episode can be open to the public or you can mark it for private use only. This might be useful to you if you want to invite or allow only specific people.

Depending on your recording and access choices, listeners may be able to call into the live show using a phone or VoIP, join in an open chat while they listen, or download the cast to their computers. Of course, with these listener options, you also have quite a few controls at your disposal to make things easy.

You can find out more by checking out the helpful TalkShoe videos and FAQ.

Here are a few other hosts you may want to check out:

I love giving out special reports. They help establish your expertise and more importantly bring free traffic that is not dependent upon search engines. In fact, they can help reach audiences I don’t normally get to reach. For example, I’ve had reports that others have asked if they can be given away on their blogs, web sites or membership sites. What’s more, because reports are more or less evergreen, they will continue to send me traffic for years to come. Pretty sweet.

Trouble is, I don’t necessarily like writing them. When you’re not exactly ‘born to write’ writing reports that are 2000 words or so can be like pulling teeth. You’d rather be doing anything but that. Why can’t reports magically write themselves?

The good news, there is a way they can be magically written every month. Sort of. With private label special reports. Yup. They do those at Special Reports Club. It is only $1 for the first month. Too hard to pass up. Think of it as $1 of perpetual advertising.

My stumbling block, is not the blog but writing emails. There are ghostly whispers in my head every time I sit to write an email. How to write clearly, simply and not get caught in spam filters? I’m often looking for substitutes to words that commonly trigger these filters.

Which is why Visual Thesaurus is such a heaven sent. It really helps when you can see the different relationships of each word. You can explore any branch by clicking on it and return in one click. This is one tool that is a must for my business. You should try it yourself.

This is so disturbing. I don’t have any concrete data to say definitely something is going on. But two reports of website hacking in less than 3 days by two different people is not a coincident.

One of my clients (and friend) also reported that the hacking cost her more than inconvenience. She’s restored her site. But now, when someone clicks on her website from Google search results, they get a big, awful notice that her site contains malicious code. The other person has some weird foreign forum on her site now. I feel outraged for them.

What you can and should do:

Backup, backup, backup your websites. Don’t know how? Here’s a video. Don’t want to do it yourself and want to keep a copy somewhere other than your office? Outsource your backup.

If you have no need for FrontPage extensions, don’t install it.

Update all your scripts including blogs.

Change your webhost control panel logins regularly.

Use RoboForm to keep up with your logins and share them securely. If your assistants and webmasters don’t have RoboForm, buy them a copy. That’s what I did last Christmas. As a gift, I gave everyone I was working with a copy of RoboForm. Now, I assign a special passcode to them and when I need to send them login details, I package it up through RoboForm and email it as an attachment.

It’s encrypted and even if the email is intercepted, they’ll have the additional task of cracking the passcode. You can download a free trial here.

I can’t guarantee you these action steps will keep your website in a vault and you’ll never ever be hacked. However, you will minimize your vulnerabilities and put stumbling blocks in their path to slow them down. That could make all the difference.

For a few weeks now, I’ve been keeping up with my fellow home business pals and motivating each other with Twitter. Problem with Twitter, if you want to keep up with what everyone else is doing, you need to keep that page open and refresh it periodically. That’s such a pain.

So, we were ecstatic when we found Twitbin. It is a nifty Firefox Add-on that loads in your sidebar. You login through it, post your tweets and it’ll fetch new tweets from your friends automatically too. All was good in TweetLand until today when Twitbin quit working. Won’t let you log in period. I am having Twitter withdrawals and judging by the tweets so are my peeps. I needed to find a backup solution.

So I got to thinking, why not load Twitter directly in Firefox sidebar? Here’s how.

Go to the mobile version of Twitter http://m.twitter.com

Bookmark it. I put it in my Bookmark Toolbar Folder so I can quickly find and click on it without searching through bookmarks. Tip, a quick and easy way to do this, just drag and drop the tab into one of your toolbars.

Now, right click on the bookmark you just made, click Properties

Check the box that says “Load this bookmark in the sidebar”, OK and you’re done.

All you have to do now is click that bookmark and voila. Twitter in your sidebar. It’s not as slick as Twitbin since it won’t auto refresh but all you need to do is click the bookmark again to reload the page. Have fun Twittering and if you want to follow me, I’m here.

It irks me to no end whenever someone asks for tech assistance but provides absolutely nothing for me to work with. Tickets like “My X software is broke. How do I fix it?” or “My web site is all messed up. Please do something.” drive me nuts. It is like telling your doctor you’re sick.

If you want tech support to help you, you first need to help yourself and get as much information as possible so they can arrive at the most possible conclusions quickly. Yes, I understand sometimes we don’t have the technical understanding or vocabulary to express our problems clearly. But at least try.

Back to the doctor analogy. We aren’t all physicians but yet we can always describe and give our doctors more information so they can properly diagnose us.

Have a problem getting something to work on your page? Let tech support know what you’ve already tried, what are the specific errors if any, grab a screen shot and send them a URL of the problem page. It’ll help tech support resolve your problems quickly and save you lots of time going back and forth.

P/S: Screen shots are so very valuable. All you need to do is to hit the Print Screen key, open up your image editor or a program like Paint that comes with your computer. Paste and save.
