I believe the potato should replace the rose as the symbol of love and affection.
Roses only last a couple weeks, and that’s if you leave them in water.
They really only exist to be pretty. That’s like telling your loved one,
“My love for you is transitory and based solely on your appearance.”
Roses are already dying when you give them, and they will soon wilt and die.
That’s like saying, “My love for you is passionate now, but will fade over time.”
But a potato! Potatoes last for weeks, months, or even longer.
In fact, not only will they not soon wilt and die, they will actually grow,
even if you just leave them in the sack. That part alone makes it a good symbol.
But wait, there’s more! First of all you can eat it:
baked, mashed, fried, roasted, chips, fries, salad, soup, and more.
Have you ever tried eating a rose? Yuck.
You can make a battery with a potato.
What can you make with a dead rose? Potpourri, the smell of dying love.
Potatoes may be ugly, but they’re still awesome.
So that’s like saying, “It doesn’t matter at all what you look like, I’ll still love you.”
There are so many ways to enjoy a potato,
and that’s like saying, “I have so many ways in which I show my love for you.”

I received this cool retro phone handset from Exact Target in the mail today. It plugs into a cell phone and you can talk retro style. You can hold it between your head and shoulder for hands-free use too. Thanks Exact Target for sending me this neat toy.

For those unfamiliar, LastPass is a free password manager that stores your passwords and login information for any website you choose. Your information is encrypted locally and synchronized to your choice of other browsers. LastPass also offers a premium subscription that includes Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, and more (with no advertisements).

Now LassPass has announced a new FREE Credit Card Monitoring Service.

In a June 18 blog post they wrote:

We now offer free credit monitoring alerts for users in the United States to help you more proactively protect your identity and personal data. Without impacting your credit scores, you can create a form fill profile and enable the free credit monitoring option.

If any changes are detected that could affect your credit report, such as suspected fraud or changes to your personal account information, you will receive a notification issued from TransUnion that something has happened.

The service features a free and a Premium version, the latter offering additional features for $9.95 per month.

Un-paid search results are also referred to as “organic” or “natural” search results. Un-paid search results are based on the search engine’s algorithm which determines the most relevant web pages related to the keyword, or keyword phrase, that was searched.

Search engines don’t reveal how their algorithms work. However, there are some general techniques that can be applied to help improve the ranking of a website or web page.

What is SEO? SEO is an initialism that stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is pronounced by saying each individual letter, not as a word as in an acronym.

Another question I’m often asked along with “What is SEO?” is “What is search engine ranking?”, or “What does it mean for a site to rank in Google?”.

A site’s ranking in a search engine refers to the first position that a website or web page appears in the un-paid search results for a specific keyword or keyword phrase. A simple example would be if your web page appeared in the forth position of the un-paid results for a given keyword or keyword phrase, then you would consider that your ranking for that keyword phase. However, that ranking can fluctuate based on a number of factors such as browser settings, account settings, keyword or keyword phrase, location, etc.

When trying to determine how well your website or web page ranks for a specific keyword or keyword phrase I strongly recommend using a “clean browser”. By clean browser I mean web browser where there is no history, cache, and temporary Internet files, not signed in to any sites, and your location set to “United States” (or your current country). If possible, designate one web browser for testing, only use it for testing, and delete all data between searches. Then, verify using another browser. You go even further and use a proxy and test from a different location.

But, going back to our original question, What is SEO? Let’s re-cap: SEO is an initialism that stands for Search Engine Optimization, and SEO is process of optimizing a website or web page to appear in the highest position possible of the un-paid search results of a search engine, such as Google or Bing, for a specific keyword or keyword phrase.
