How To Minimize Google Chrome To System Tray

While I was checking out different methods to minimize your most used applications in Windows I confronted an excellent Chrome extension which saves up your desktop space by minimizing your browser to system tray. This extension is called “Minimize Chrome To Tray“.

The Minimize Chrome To Tray extension also won’t occupy any space in the browser’s tool bar. Once your done installing, simply minimize Chrome and it will jump in your system tray. To restore Chrome double click this icon and enjoy browsing =)

If you like to save space and keep minimum windows visible at a time then “Minimize Chrome To Tray” is what you need.

How To Add Favicon To Your Wordpress Blog in 5 Minutes

Adding Favicon to your website/blog is one of the most important things a blogger should keep in mind. There are thousands of blogs out there who are actually trying to make a living out of their content writing abilities but they neglect small useful tasks such as making a website logo, doing a little bit of SEO or adding a favicon like I just mentioned.

Anyways, it’s better late than never so for those of you who are looking for a way to add a favicon to their blog can follow the steps below. It took me hardly 3 minutes to add a new favicon to my blog.

1. Create a Favicon. I simply typed the letter “T” and added some shades to it. This is how it looked

2. Visit this Favicon Generator website, upload your image and download the favicon package;

3. This package will be downloaded in a zip format. Once you extract it, copy the 3 files and upload them in your ftp account in “Public HTML” folder.

4. Final step is to login to your Wordpress dashboard and edit your Header.php. Once your at this page paste ” ” and click “Update”. Refresh the page and your new Favicon should be there for the world to see.

How To Upload/Download Files To FTP Accounts In Firefox

Using Smartftp has always been a big headache for me. Sometimes I would get so lazy and stop uploading files even if they are important for my blog and it is only because I had been using trial versions of FTP clients out there and they kinda bug me a lot. But recently I have confronted an excellent Firefox add on that allows me to access my FTP accounts within my browser. This Firefox extension is called FireFTP.

Once FireFTP is installed you can enter multiple accounts information and access them whenever you want with just a click of a button. FireFTP supports authenticated TSL, authenticated SSL, and implicit SSL for secure transfers, drag and drop, and CHMOD changes. There is an even FireFTP extension that works within Portable Firefox as well.

You can access FireFTP by clicking Tools > FireFTP.

This will open a new tab for you where you can view exactly what you see in a regular Ftp client. One the left side you will notice your computer’s files and programs and on the right hand side you will notice your server’s files and folder.

The whole process is quiet simple actually. All you have to do is simply drag and drop the files you want to upload/download.

FireFTP includes advanced features such as directory comparison, syncing directories while navigating, SFTP, SSL encryption, search/filtering, integrity checks, remote editing, drag & drop, and file hashing.

FireFTP is definitely a must have FTP client for Bloggers/Webmasters.

Avalanche Will Kill Your Boredom

Sooner or later, while working on your computer for long periods of time means, you will find yourself getting bored. I, for example, sometimes end up working long hours blogging and sitting in front of my monitor for so long becomes monotonous at times. If I ignore the boredom and simply focus on getting the job done, I might meet the deadline but the end result would not be as satisfactory. This is why I consider it best to deal with the boredom first and then with the task at hand.

My cure for boredom includes a number of things. I might visit one my favorite webcomics Questionable Content, or one of my favorite comedy websites Cracked. But if I have woken up just recently and need to activate my mind, then nothing serves better than a quick browser based game. I like to play Flash based games available on many websites which are free and easy to get our hands on.

Today I was looking for another game to play when I came across Avalanche.

Avalanche is game packed into an extension for the Chrome browser. This means that it installs itself into Chrome so each time I start the game, I do not have to wait for any loading times unlike the Flash based browser games. Here’s how the icon looks like in your toolbar;

The game places an icon in Chrome’s address bar which when clicked, presents a dropdown window which includes the game.

The objective of the game is quite simple: our character is on the ground and we have to save him from getting hit by the icicles falling from the sky. The buttons we can use are the left and right arrow keys.

Our current and high scores are recorded in the extension and we can even submit them to Avalanche’s site to compare with other players’ scores.

I found Avalanche to be the perfect solution for boredom that creeps into our mood. The fast falling icicles get more difficult to dodge as time passes and great attention is required to keep our character safe. Try out the game yourself and see how quickly it activates your mind.
