When is the Flash Player end-of-life (EOL)?

As previously announced in July 2017, Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player after December 31, 2020 (“EOL Date”). We made this announcement in collaboration with several of our technology partners – including Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla – which issued complementary announcements with more technical detail on what the Flash Player EOL will mean for developers, enterprises, and consumers using their specific OS environments or browsers. 


There will be NO update after December 2020, NO download will remain available.


Users will be prompted by Adobe to uninstall Flash Player on their machines later this year and Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date.

This is the end of a 20 years experience, started with Macromedia Flash player and then continued under Adobe. Until now.

Motorola does extensive testing to make sure that our phones can withstand everyday use and last for years. Razr went through this testing in machines built specifically to simulate real-life use and we are confident in its durability.

And well, CNET robot is different, it doesn't completely close the phone, because it's an adaption of the same robot used to test Samsung Fold.
So the RAZR 2020 died soon 'cause the machine wasn't able to emulate properly real life conditions (open completely and close completely).

Furthermore there's a difference to open and close N times the fold in a 4 - 10 hours set or doing the same thing in months or years. The first thing is more stressful.

On the day it came out, we bought it, brought it in to our studio, and folded it with our foldbot. The foldable phone survived only 27,000 of the 100,000 folds we set out to do in our full-day stress test.

To have an idea, Samsung Galaxy fold went up to 100k.

We'll see when and where this will end.
As far as we are concerned, we have also RSS and mail to receive news. Social media didn't exist back in 2004 and people managed to get informed without them.
Social media might disappear in 2034 and by then people will likely find another way to reach the news they want.

Game developer EA has announced via app updates that they will be ‘retiring’, or pulling Tetris apps in the App Store on the 21st of April this year. Support will be ended for Tetris Blitz, Tetris 2011 and Tetris Premium.

In the updates section, EA mentioned that players will still be able to run the apps and use in-game items until April of 2020. Keep in mind that you’ll need to consume all in-app purchases before the Tetris apps are officially gone.

Like in all things on Wikipedia, consensus should reign supreme and consensus determined that Rosiestep's article deserved recognition."

What about browsers?
  • Firefox removed its core support since version 64.0 (December 11th, 2018)
  • Chrome removed its RSS add-on few weeks after Google reader shutdown
  • Opera removed Opera mail (containing also RSS reader) with Opera 15, back in February 2013
  • Safari removed its built in RSS reader back in June 10th, 2013
  • Samsung Internet is a Chromium fork. But Chromium has less features than Google Chrome
  • Yabrowser (Yandex browser) is a Chromium based one

The only major browser to support RSS is Internet Explorer.

It happened with Nokia Symbian, it will happen with win 10 mobile.

Maintenance updates



Shortly after WordPress 5.3.1 was released, a couple of high severity Trac tickets were opened. The Core team scheduled this quick maintenance release to resolve these issues.

Main issues addressed in 5.3.2:

  • Date/Time: Ensure that get_feed_build_date() correctly handles a modified post object with invalid date.
  • Uploads: Fix file name collision in wp_unique_filename() when uploading a file with upper case extension on non case-sensitive file systems.
  • Media: Fix PHP warnings in wp_unique_filename() when the destination directory is unreadable.
  • Administration: Fix the colors in all color schemes for buttons with the .active class.
  • Tests/build tools: In wp_insert_post(), when checking the post date to set future or publish status, use a proper delta comparison
