Google Wave is a product that helps users communicate and collaborate on the web. A "wave" is equal parts conversation and document, where users can almost instantly communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more. Google Wave is also a platform with a rich set of open APIs that allow developers to embed waves in other web services and to build extensions that work inside waves.

What is the Google Wave API?

The Google Wave API allows developers to use and enhance Google Wave through two primary types of development:

* Extensions: Build robot extensions to automate common tasks or build gadget extensions to provide a new way for users to interact
* Embed: Make your site more collaborative by dropping in a Wave

Google Wave is currently available in a developer preview as the APIs and product continue to evolve. Accounts on the developer sandbox will be given out to people intending to build with the Google Wave APIs prior to the public release.

Internet to speed up by 60 times, claims research

Scientists at the University of Sydney have developed a switch that would allow the internet to become 60 times faster than current networks. Taking four years to complete, the switch is created using a small scratch on a piece of glass. The scratch will mean almost instantaneous error free access to the internet anywhere in the world, announced by Centre for Ultra-high bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) at the Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC) held in Sydney.

"This is a critical building block and a fundamental advance on what is already out there. We are talking about networks that are potentially up to 100 times faster without costing the consumer any more," says Federation Fellow Professor Ben Eggleton, Director of CUDOS which is based within the School of Physics at the University of Sydney. The scratched glass is actually a photonic integrated circuit that has the capacity to increase the slow rate of information carried by optical fibres.

Using photonic technology that has terabit per second speed, the circuit uses the scratch as a guide or a switching path for information. Similar to when trains are switched from one track to another, this switch takes only one picosecond to change tracks. Therefore in one second the switch is turning on and off about one million times.

With the current prototype proving to achieve speeds 60 times faster than current Australian networks, the development team is confident that with further work the future of the technology looks promising. As we move towards faster and faster networking there will be ever higher demand for instant web gratification and photonic technology might be the way towards delivering those needs.

TFOT has previously covered P4P – next generation P2P, an advancement to file sharing technology. The system has the ability to make internet service providers (ISPs) and peer-to-peer (P2P) software providers work together in order to deliver data in a more efficient manner. TFOT also recently covered the world's smallest transistor, where graphene is carved into tiny electronic circuits with individual transistors not much larger than that of a molecule.

Everytime I click on my external hardrive, I get this error message;

Tho I can access the hardrive by right click>explore

I was having this same error message when i clicked on my local C:drive but I have just restored my computer with the start up disk and am only getting it on my external hardrive.

Don't worry if you have deleted any mails permanently from your outlook inbox. Here is a way you can retrieve your permanently deleted mails.
1. Go to Run by clicking on Start and type in regedit.

2. Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand Software.

3. You will find Microsoft there. Expand Microsoft.

4. Expand exchange and then client.

5. You will find Options there. Right click on Options, choose New and click on D Word Value.

6. Now right click the new Dword Value and rename it toDumpsterAlwaysOn.
Note: This is case sensitive.

7. Right click on the DumpsterAlwaysOn and modify the Value data to 1and click on OK.
When you type 1, this means the Recovery deleted Item is on. Also 0 to turn it off.

8. Now open Outlook and click on Tools.
9. Choose 'Recovery Deleted Items'.

Pidgin is an all in one instant messenger. Formerly known as Gaim but because AOL’s instant messenger (AIM) has similar name, they’d to change the name and they chose Pidgin. By all in one instant messenger, I mean that it supports and allows you to login to multiple networks, i.e. using Pidgin only you can access and chat with your friends on Yahoo messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk and lot others. Lets look at the PROS and CONS of Pidgin. We know that it has got one huge benefit, that it is a all in one messenger but is it good or not, lets find that out :

PROS of Pidgin :

1. All in one instant messenger : This is the best feature of Pidgin as you can log in to multiple networks at one go. This not only saves you from installing multiple softwares but saves memory too. As you just have to run one software instead of all the messengers. It supports Yahoo, Windows Live Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Jabber, Gadu Gadu, IRC (these being the popular ones) and many more.

2. Less Memory Usage : Pidgin uses around 24 Mb of memory and considering the fact that it is the only software which you’ve to run for chat and not multiple softwares. This saves lots and lots of memory and people like me will certainly find it very useful.

3. Extend-able through plugins : Pidgin gets better with the help of various plugins and that gives boost to this program’s profile too. Any program which can be extended is always better than the ones which can’t have plugins. So, if you are missing a feature in Pidgin, then you can always look for a plugin for it (although you may not find the one, which you want but chances are you’ll find one or there will be one under development…always think positive).

CONS of Pidgin :

1. Not so impressive interface : The interface of the software is really not impressive. Developers have tried to keep it as simple as they could but it is not the easiest of all too. One has to spend some time with this software, in order to ensure that the person can access all its features.

2. No support for audio or video : Pidgin doesn’t have any functionality where one can make use of VoIP features of the networks or the video conferencing of the networks. This is a real big negative of pidgin. Even there is no plugin for the same.

Overall rating & views :

Pidgin is a multiple network supporting messenger with the basic functionalities and a product which heavily depends on its plugins. Pidgin can be useful for those users who are not into all those frills and who are not interested in the audio and video functionalities but want a messenger which can support many networks. If that’s your requirement then its definitely worth a try but you may not like the interface too.

Review:
Opera@USB attempts to make the Opera browser fully portable with pretty good results in my opinion. All of Opera features along with it's trademark speed are packed into a zip file which can be placed into a pen drive and launched normally. Opera@USB supports a wide variety of languages so if your an international person the chances that your language is supported are very high. The only drawback with this program is that it only works with Windows that sucks when you think the original Opera browser works with Windows, Linux and MacOSX.
In conclusion Opera@USB is a pretty good way of running Opera from your pendrive oh and if you are looking for a more anonymising alternative then try OperaTor. Available for all Windows versions.

Many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network). You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below. It won't take much time.

Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer.

Now dialogue windows will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure. Don't choose any of them, just simply click Cancel.
*Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window
*Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive . (E.g. If it is written Kingston (I :), then I: will be the drive letter.)
*In the Command Window (cmd), type the drive letter: and Hit Enter.
*Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter
*You will get a list of files. In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist
Autorun.inf
Newfolder.exe
Bha.vbs
Iexplore.vbs
Info.exe
New_Folder.exe
Ravmon.exe
RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension.
If you find any one of the files above, Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.
Now delete each File using the following Commanddel filename (E.g del autorun.inf) .
That's it. Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus.

The main difference between http:// and https:// is, It's all about keeping you secure

HTTP stands for HyperText Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

The important thing is the letter S which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure".
If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecure' language.

In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website.

If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.

This is why you never ever ever enter your credit card number in an http website!

But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://.

If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number!
