The latest smartwatch in the planet comes from Agent that boasts of wireless charging support. See other specs and price details.

Watches are becoming all the rage again, especially after the success of endeavors like the Pebble smart watch. News that big companies like Apple and Samsung are also working on their own smart watches has shown that there’s a market for this product. Now, the AGENT, a new device that claims to be the smartest among the smart watches is on its way. A trending Kickstarter project and the brainchild of Secret Labs and House of Horology, AGENT is touted as being a fashionable timepiece that syncs with your smart phone and has an impressive battery life.

The Agent smartwatch has a 1.28-inch display with anti-glare glass, motion and light sensors and is powered by an ARM Cortex-M4 processor. One of its most valued features is its Qi wireless charging parts that can be used on any Qi-backed charging pad, making powering your watch easy and effortless.

As expected from a product of the House of Horology, this nifty smart watch is very fashion forward. It’s designed to be water-resistant and comes with changeable wrist straps. Users can easily change their Agent’s watch face by simply pressing a button and looking for a style that would suit your wardrobe. Other watch faces will also be designed and will be available for download.

Agent still has around 28 days to go on Kickstarter and so far, the reception to the device has been nothing short of amazing. Production will be in full swing by December 2013 and the smart watch is pegged to have a SRP of $249 or $299 for a model that includes a Qi charger. Those who make a pledge on its Kickstarter page can get the device for even less.

Microsoft's flagship game console Xbox One is now ready for pre-order. See price details.

Xbox gaming consoles have been around for more than a decade and a number of gamers were hooked to its modern gaming and entertainment features. From the first Xbox and its predecessor, the Xbox 360, Microsoft developed another revolutionary game console, the Xbox One.

Xbox One is a streamlined version of the Xbox 360. It bears a rectangular, liquid black tinted console which has a solid and glossy panel on the left and a vented matte panel on the right. The front panel is devoid of any embellishment with the optical disc drive slot blending on the box. With the closest competitor boasting of its multimedia features, Xbox One promises an all-in-one entertainment with its capability to play music, movies, live TV, and sports apart from the primary feature of advanced gaming experience. Obviously, Microsoft gave their all to develop the freshest gaming console in the market.

Avid gamers and Microsoft aficionados can already reserve Xbox One from the company’s online store with its projected release date later this year. Being an incredible device, it is expected to have a price tag between £399 and £499 but the number of pre- orders is already growing at an incredibly fast rate.

It is worth saying that many people expect a lot from the all-new Xbox One and are obviously on the edge of their seats while waiting for its official launch in the world of gaming. See more details on sites offering pre-orders for Microsoft’s gaming console.

Recon Instruments presented its Recon Jet HUD eyewear at the Google I/O conference. See specs and demo.

At the recent Google I/O developers conference, Recon Instruments proudly unveiled its latest product under the Heads-up Display (HUD), the Recon Jet.

The company, who was behind the development of high-performance HUDs for sports comes with a new and advanced eyewear that is comparable with Google Glass. The Recon Jet looks like your ordinary pair of sunglasses, but the difference starts with mounted display capable of delivering instant information to users.

First off, the wearable tech has a number of advanced hardware including a dual-core processor, HD camera, WiFi, ANT+, GPS, Bluetooth and embedded sensors such as altimeter, thermometer, gyroscope, accelerometer and so on.

Information are projected instantly on a high-resolution widescreen display while on the go. Its durable and water resistant body is perfect for different outdoor activities like hiking, running and even off-road biking.

Recon Instruments also introduced its open platform for developers to develop native apps for the Recon Jet. FYI, some of the pre-loaded apps are video streaming, activity tracking, smartphone connectivity and Facebook. There is also a possibility for fitness apps to be introduced in the platform so health buffs can use this eyewear even at the gym.

No price details for now but you might want to check the product video for more details about the Recon Jet.

PayPal believes that fingerprint scanners will soon replace traditional passwords. See details.

Passwords have always been considered the vanguard for all our online activities, guarding our accounts and ensuring that they’re safe. However, most of us are juggling around a dozen accounts or more. More often than not, instead of memorizing different strong passwords, we use one password for everything – our email account, bank account, Instagram, Facebook, online store account – and greatly increases the risks that our personal information will be compromised.

The speed that technology advances and the recent, alarming spate of hacking activities has prompted one prime mover in the industry to say that we should do away with passwords. During the recently concluded Interop Security Conference, PayPal’s CISO Michael Barrett talked about his vision of coming up with a system that would negate our need for passwords. He definitely knows what he’s talking about too since he’s also the president of the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance, an organization that comes up with methods to help netizens with their passwords.

During his speech at the security conference, Barrett admitted that his company’s aim is to do away with passwords and PINs and they aim to do that via a device that will connect to different websites and authenticate one’s identity. And to verify the identity, there should be an interaction with the user like eye scanning, finger scanning or swiping a card. These devices will probably be small and your authenticated credentials are stored in them and can’t be stolen. Some devices being considered are USB keys and finger scanners.

This two-step authorization process will undoubtedly make accounts more secure. Barrett mentioned the Apple ID accounts as a prime example and implied that Apple’s next iPhone might be the first device to make use of this verification system. There have been reports that the iPhone 5S will have a fingerprint sensor feature. This feature can actually make or break the iPhone 5S. On one hand, the fingerprint sensor would replace password authentication used on iTunes. On the other, integrating the feature can cause massive delays on the handset’s release date.

Realistically speaking, even if we do start using scanners and other biometrics for verifying our accounts, we would still be using passwords in the next couple of years. It will take some time for FIDO and PayPal’s vision to become the standard security feature.

Leaked images for the Huawei P6-U06 went live recently with initial specs list. See details.

China’s TENAA has proved the existence of a Huawei smartphone which is super slim at 6.18mm, and it could be the P series model that had been teased for a considerable period of time. The sexy P6-U06 handset comes in black and with specs comparable to a high-end device despite the limited space availability. It has a quad-core processor at 1.5Ghz, a RAM at 2Gb and a 4.7-inch display at 720P and a metal band-filled perimeter.

A French site has gotten hold of some wild shots of the device which show some resemblance of TENAA-provided picture of the P6-U06 but it can’t confirm their legitimacy because of the absence of the company logo and their failure to show the back of the device. The specs also include an Android 4.1.2 inside and they all point to a possible Chinese-only launch anytime. However, Huawei remains mum on other details such as the price and the actual release date so for now, it’s good to adopt a wait-and-see attitude.

The leaked images prove only one thing – that Huawei P6-U06 exist and will soon hit the market. TENAA is the Chinese equivalent of FCC of U.S. and it has listed P6-U06 as a forthcoming device of China-based Huawei Technologies.

The famous Leap Motion 3D controller is not coming on scheduled date. See reasons why.

The Leap Motion 3D controller, a small-sized device with USB connectivity that can turn any computer device (PC or laptop) into a gesture-controlled unit similar to Kinect, is not coming earlier than expected. The company that made it announced a two-month delay in the delivery of the pre-orders made to July 22 instead of May 13.

It’s a decision that is based on high expectations, as company executives want to be sure about effectiveness and reliability, or in short quality, by doing a second round of testing which should be completed by June. CEO Michael Buckwald has made an assurance that it will be the only delay for the product even hinting that thousands of such devices have already made their way to developers, who will be given access to OS interaction in addition to SDK as part of the beta test. The comprehensive testing will also be made to people outside of the developer community.

Leap Motion has partnered with Hewlett-Packard to bring the technology to HP devices in the near future. The controller itself allows users to control gestures or objects on screens with 8 cubic feet of virtual space between the user and the computer, a kind of introductory feature to the future of desktop computing. The pre-order price had been set at $79.99 with 600,000 units ready to be shipped before this announcement was released.

LG will release the first-ever Curved 3D OLED TV set this year. See details.

Unveiled at CES 2013 was yet another vanguard technology from the Korea-based company, LG. Touted as the world’s first curved 3D OLED TV in the display market, the said cutting edge product is announced to come later this year according to the company’s executives.

The tech manufacturer believes that the Curved OLED TVs will be a hit among households when released. LG Europe’s VP for Home Entertainment, Thomas Lee, said that the new generation TV displays will be a “major trend coming in the second half of this year”. Back at CES, we’ve seen LG demoed a 55-inch prototype so it’s highly possible that similar models will be introduced in the market. Larger versions will also be available in the future said by the company’s Hung W.K. Shin.

There is no exact release date for these curved LG displays or price details but we’re pretty sure that it will be offered at a premium price. Last year, LG unveiled its 55-inch flatscreen OLED TV at CES and retailed the product locally after more than a year for a whopping $12,000. The flatscreen OLED display also has a larger 65-inch variant that will be offered in the US and UK (in July this year).

LG’s Curved 3D OLED display will certainly provide new and immersive viewing experience to its users but is the price justified? Hit the comments below for your opinion.

The researchers are using Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 and EEG technology to test how subjects can perform the usual mobile tasks like choosing a contact, launching an app, launching a playlist and choosing a song or powering the device on or off using their minds. The fundamental concept at work here are the EEG electrodes. The test subject puts on a skull cap with various electrodes attached to it. The cap basically detects and identifies brain activity or patterns that allow users to control the device. And it appears that the technology is more than feasible. Researchers from Samsung and the University of Texas have successfully demonstrated the concept with an application that was launched by a test subject focusing on a particular icon.

It’s a given that this technology will still take several years before it becomes ready for the market, but you have to give props to Samsung and the University of Texas for trying to come up with something that can help people overcome their disabilities and live a normal life.

Nokia is rumored to release a phablet and a super lumia phone by July of this year. See details.

Rumors are everywhere and here is one that might interest you. Finland tech giant Nokia is rumored to release a phablet and a super Lumia phone with an amazing camera sensor.

While Microsoft is upgrading its Windows Phone 8 OS to support 1080p HD displays, its partner Nokia is busy building a smartphone/tablet that could rival Samsung’s flagship tablet, the Galaxy Note. The supersized Lumia is rumored to have a somewhat similar size as the Galaxy Note but with better overall specifications. If the reports were right, then a five-inch or a six-inch device is underway.

Likewise, the company is also presumed to release its newest and the best Lumia phone. Two handsets were alleged to pop out within this year with one having a 41 megapixel PureView camera while the other one seems to be the lighter version of Nokia 920. They are said to have similar specs but one will be endowed with higher Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor while the other has dual-core configuration.

If everything goes as planned, the company might announce these devices by July. Obviously, Nokia has yet to confirm these information so it would be best take them with a grain of salt.

LG is expected to introduce the sequel to its Optimus G handset, the Optimus G2.

LG has yet to produce a flagship phone that can compete in the high-end smartphone markets. But rumor has it that the South Korea-based tech manufacturer plans to introduce the sequel to its Optimus G model that might be a big hit.

Currently dubbed as Optimus G2, words on the street claimed that the display of the said gadget will be 5-inch in size, which is larger than its predecessor (Optimus G has 4.7 inches, while smaller than the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro Phablet).

The device is being seen as LG’s entry to go head to head with other companies’ high-end models as that of Apple’s iPhone 5 (or the upcoming iPhone 6), Galaxy S4, Sony’s Xperia Z, and HTC One among others. It has likewise been described as “going to be something different, something unique” by the company’s executive in a press event.

Other rumored specs include: higher touchscreen display resolution at 1080p, Android Jelly Bean OS and Snapdragon 800 CPU.

The second-generation Optimus G is expected to be up in United Kingdom markets by third quarter of this year. Meanwhile the Optimus G Pro- said to be Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 competitor- is rumored to hit United States markets starting by May.

No other specs and information on price or whether the unit will head to other markets have been provided just yet.
