Sony unveils the PlayStation 4 PS4

Sony electronics unveiled the eighth generation of video game console PS4 at a big press event in New York City on Wednesday.

The PlayStation 4 will compete with Nintendo's Wii U, and any other as yet unannounced consoles, as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles. The console was revealed and confirmed at a press conference on February 20, 2013, with a release date set for Q4 2013.

The PlayStation 4 will feature a custom-designed single-chip processor, with an 8-core 64-bit x86 central processing unit (CPU) developed by AMD. It is code-named "Jaguar".

The graphics processing unit (GPU) will be based on next-generation AMD Radeon graphics. It will perform at 1.84 TFLOP/s. It is likely to perform better than a mid-range graphics card in a gaming computer. It will also include dedicated graphics technology for seamless compression and decompression of video media.

The PlayStation 4 will include 8 GB of GDDR5 system memory, allowing for 176 GB/s of bandwidth.Memory will be unified, meaning that the console lacks dedicated video RAM; all RAM is shared between processing and graphics capabilities. This feature has been found in past consoles such as the Xbox 360.

The read-only optical drive will read Blu-ray discs at 6x and DVDs at 8x. A hard disk drive will be included,although Sony has not yet announced the size.

The PlayStation 4 will feature 802.11 b/g/n network connectivity as well as Ethernet. USB 3.0 will be included, as will Bluetooth 2.1. An auxiliary port will also be included. The system will come bundled with a mono headset, which can be plugged into the DualShock 4. Output options will be HDMI, analog AV-out, and optical S/PDIF audio out.

DualShock 4
The DualShock 4 will be the PlayStation 4's controller. It is similar to the DualShock 3, with several new features. One new feature is a built-in two-point capacitative touch pad on the front of the controller, which can be clicked. The controller will support motion detection via a three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer and vibration. It will include a non-removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery tentatively capable of storing 1000 mAh. The tentative design weighs 210 g (7.4 oz) and has dimensions of 162 × 52 × 98 mm (6.4 × 2.0 × 3.9 in).

3D Printer someday can Develop Human body parts

From news.discovery.com: A team of researchers at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, led by Will Shu, has built a printer that can lay down human stem cells in tiny spheres. Printing human cells has been done before, with bone marrow or skin. Those types of cells, however, are resilient compared to the more delicate embryonic stem cells.

“The technique will allow us to create more accurate human tissue models which are essential to in vitro drug development and toxicity-testing. Since the majority of drug discovery is targeting human disease, it makes sense to use human tissues.” Shu said in a press release.

The scientists used a printer that has specialized valves, which are adjustable and control the rate at which the cells are released. That allowed them to put the stem cells where they are needed and keep them intact.

Stem cells are the building blocks of organs and tissues; they are “generic” cells that can become specific kinds when exposed to the right conditions. But one of the difficulties with them is that they are delicate; if the printer doesn’t treat them gently they will lose their ability to differentiate into various cell types.

Nokia unveiling True PureView Windows Phone

Nokia is reportedly working on a true PureView Windows Phone, which will include a sensor similar to the one found on the company’s 41-megapixel 808 handset.

According to The Verge, the phone will be made out of aluminum rather than the polycarbonate typically found in Nokia’s Lumia line. Slated to launch on AT&T later this year, the handset –- code-named EOS — will be one of several Lumias sporting a new design. Nokia is also reportedly working on its own Windows 8 tablet to debut later this year.

2013’s Lumia will likely continue that tradition, providing high-resolution, high-quality photos, especially in low-light situations.
