Update : The Site is Down due to an Error with Cloud Flare!

Tech Hamlet is currently down. Its a DNS reolution error with CloudFlare. Our servers are working fine and there's nothing wrong from our side. Hope CloudFlare will fix it soon!

Update : The issue is now fixed! Things should work fine now!

The all New 13th Version of Tech Hamlet is on the way!

Right now, we are slowly rolling out the 13th version of our site. Its not a sudden release like the previous versions. It will take several days because this is a huge update!

We release one part, test it and then release the next part. Already, most of the site was tested on our local test machines. But, still, there are things to do!

So, please be patient! We will announce the final release very soon!

Tech Hamlet 12.0.1 (Dofollow comments and more ads)

Did some small updates to the site!

Added Two more banners to the top of the site with the Google+ badge. Did this because many advertisers asks for it but I don't like to fill the site with ads... What to do...

Now this might interest you... Changed the Comment system from Disqus to Livefyre! It's a brand new comment system which have several great features. The things we liked :

- It pulls conversations done outside the site into the comment area. For example, Facebook page comments, Twitter mentions...

- Its a full do follow comment system. Search engines can see the comments and you can benefit from that!

- Its a real-time comment system!

Updated the Partner List in the Footer! (Did you know we have moved to a VPS at Servint and Ditched KnownHost several months ago?)

Since problems started to crawl into my head, I didn't even touched the internel part of the site. No fixes, no updates, no features.... Now, things are going to change...

According to the previous partner list, we used KnownHost as our host and Hostgator as our domain registrar. We ditched those two months ago.

Ditched Knownhost because I think they don't have enough security on their servers! Got a lot of attack alerts... We moved to Servint several months ago and I think they are the perfect host for us. Have more security and also have more powerful hardware!

We also ditched Hostgator because they are not good when handling domains (still) and moved to NameCheap.

Today I have removed Knownhost and Hostgator from the list and have added VaultPress (Yep, we are using it!) and Servint! Might add Namecheap and the others in the next major update! :D

Our feeds were not updated correctly since July! Now its Fixed!

In July we made a major update to our servers. During that update, a small mistake in the server configurarions have prevented Feedburner from pulling latest topics from our RSS feed. Just now we fixed it and everything is back to normal! Now you'll recive updates from us as usual!

SSL Login for our Authors!

We have just enabled SSL login for Tech Hamlet. Earlier, we had to use the normal http connection to log into the dashboard. Now, all the members of TH will be redirected to the https version of the login form. So, everything you send to our server and everything you download from our server when you are inside the dashboard will be encrypted! Cool isn't it? Wait and see... We are going to add more features to TH in order to add more security and speed!

Site Was Down on Saturday?

Well, on Saturday, we moved our DNS to Namecheap. Before moving to the VPS, we used cloud flare. After moving, we disabled it, but left it to reolve our dns. But, on saturday, we moved to Name Cheap's DNS. Thats why the site went down for some people. More control and good support!

A New Partner and a New Home for Tech Hamlet

We have just moved our growing site to a brand new VPS at KnownHost. Now the site is much faster than before and we have the full control on its server. So, with the help of the host, we have fully customized the server for TH. Actually, this customization took several weeks :D But now, things are stable!

We have also got a brand new partner! Dulitha Wijewantha is our newest partner! A young man from Sri Lanka and a great java programmer! Well, a growing organization needs help.. So, you'll see more people workng on TH really soon!

Tech Hamlet is Getting Ready for the New Year

Today we are doing some big changes to our blog! We are about to go from TechHamlet 9.1 to TechHamlet 10.0! The new version should be much more faster because we designed most of the site by our selves.. The new site is powered by the Thesis Framework and customized by us! Updated : Upgrading TechHamlet.com and Video.TechHamlet.com

Update : The upgrade was successful and everything is back to normal!

We are going to perform an upgrade to our sites which should allow us to integrate the two sites more easily and also reduce the load on our servers. As soon as we launched video.techhamlet.com yesterday, we realized that its a bit hard to intigrate it with our main blog. So, we decided to make a major upgrade today.

Today you won't be able to access both our sites for about 3 hours and we will post an update here as soon as we finish the upgrade.. So, stay in-touch!

We are on a vacation! But TechHamlet.com will still give you new posts as usual!

Update : We are back! From today onwards TechHamlet will be fully functional as usual!

Both the main writers of TechHamlet.com are going to take a big vacation for about 11 days! We will be visiting India (Specially Buddhagaya) during our vacation. So, we are going to leave the country tomorrow (6th) morning and will return on the 16th!

But don't worry.. Everything is set and you will get new posts from Tech Hamlet everyday (except for Sundays)! The posts are written and scheduled carefully so that TechHamlet.com will be live and kicking as usual!

Updated : We are Going for a Small Vacation!

Thats right.. the main writers of TechHamlet.com is going to take a small rest! For a long time we managed our blog without getting much rest, writing posts, making the site better and faster. We did all these things just for you people! But today, we are asking you to give us a small rest! Can you?

Guys, we really need some rest specially to our minds.. They work 24h in Tech Hamlet. Trust me, some days I have even managed this blog in my dreams! From tomorrow, (9th of September, 2010) we will be taking a small vacation until the 12th of September 2010. So, there will be no new posts in TechHamlet.com for these 4 days.. Refurbishing TechHamlet.com!

We are going to test a new template for TechHamlet.com! So, the site will be down for several hours...

Remember, we are only testing! Still we are not sure whether we will be able to implement the new template permanently! So, stay in touch for updates!

Update : We will not change our existing template! With these tests, we realized that we can't find a good matching theme to replace our old one! Think its not the correct time for a change.. So, the theme change was postponed! We will update our current theme and come online soon.. So, be patient!

Update : TechHamlet.com 8.0 is now online! We have done a lot of core changes, updated the current template to its newest version and have also made it more secure and faster! We were also able to fix a lot of bugs which made the site slow and buggy.. So, this concludes our maintenance session.. Thank you for your patience my friends!

Status.TechHamlet.com is Alive!

TechHamlet.com was online for about an year! Within this period, you might have seen that TechHamlet.com went offline for several times, the site's template got messed up, and you might have also seen several ugly warning messages popped up right in-front of your face..

But, most of these errors had a reason behind it. Most of you might have tried hard to get to the site thinking that it might be a connection error from your side! Most of you might have thought that it was a hacker attack!

Still you never knew whats going on from the inside.. Sometimes, it might have caused by some of our stupid experiments, some server upgrades or while we are changing our template!

Thats the past! Today, this new addition to TechHamlet.com will provide you with a good report on our site's status! Whenever our servers were down, we have to take the site offline, we got any attacks, when we are changing our templates, or when we are cooking some thing new, we will post it on Status.Techhamlet.com.

Now you might think "If techhamlet.com is down, theres a good chance that status.techhamlet.com will also be offline!". The answer is "It won't happen like that". Because, this site is not hosted on the same servers as techhamlet.com. This site is hosted and managed through Posterous.com. So, even if the main site is down, the TechHamlet Status will be up and running giving you a full explanation about the failure!

So, what do you think? Isn't this very useful? Won't this help our readers to learn more about whats going on in the inside? Please feel free to share your comments with us!
