By partnering with Life by City Energy, Ikea can bring smart, lower-carbon gas solutions into its one-stop Home Design Service, making it easier for homeowners to plan kitchens and bathrooms alongside furniture, storage, lighting and interiors.

Announced on 3 November 2026, the partnership is the first expansion of the end-to-end service, which has helped 300 homeowners since its soft launch in 2025. Whether furnishing a new BTO flat, renovating an existing property or refreshing a kitchen, customers can now consider gas water heaters, hobs, cooker hoods and gas dryers as part of a coordinated design. The partnership combines IKEA’s home-furnishing expertise with City Energy’s appliance and gas-installation knowledge, including smart IoT-enabled solutions designed to offer greater energy efficiency, convenience and control. City Energy says town gas infrastructure is available in all new HDB flats and, according to its 2026 data, approximately one in two HDB homes using town gas also uses a gas water heater.

The expanded service is available at IKEA Alexandra and IKEA Tampines, where homeowners can explore Life by City Energy’s appliances in the showrooms.

The journey starts with an IKEA Home Design specialist discussing the homeowner’s needs and developing a proposal. When gas appliances are selected, the specialist works directly with Life by City Energy’s experts to incorporate appliance dimensions, placement and gas-piping requirements before renovation begins; site visits and technical checks follow where needed once the customer proceeds. IKEA remains the single point of contact, coordinating cabinet installation, appliance delivery and installation, gas works and activation. IKEA handles cabinetry and relevant appliance positioning, while Life by City Energy arranges delivery, installation and gas connections through its teams and partners.

Previously, customers had to source gas appliances separately, bring back specifications and arrange deliveries themselves. Bringing these decisions and schedules together saves coordination time and helps reduce mismatched specifications, installation delays and avoidable rework.

Availability and Special Launch Offers

The expanded IKEA Home Design Service is now available at IKEA Alexandra and IKEA Tampines. To mark the launch, homeowners can enjoy special Life by City Energy appliance packages and IKEA gift cards with qualifying purchases made at these stores:

• Pin messages for longer: People can now pin messages at the top of a group chat without choosing a time limit, keeping key information easy to find beyond the previous 30-day maximum.
• Share recent history after someone joins: Group members can now send recent message history to new members even after they have joined, including those who joined through an invite link. Sharing history is optional, and the messages remain end-to-end encrypted, just like other personal messages on WhatsApp.
• Share everyday moments through Group Status: A shared space for photos and updates allows members of a specific group to view, react to and add to its Status. Posts disappear after 24 hours and are only visible to members of that group.
• Filter mentions and replies: A new filter helps people find unread group conversations where they have been mentioned or received a direct reply, including @all mentions.

One charge can last 7 days. It acts as a health device to monitor your heart rate, O2, skin temperature, sleeping routine and calories/steps information. Of course, its main job is to let you control your Rokid AI glasses by touching the surface of the ring, and by gestures.

This is one of the few times that Unitree is using H2 humanoid in a demonstration video. Check it out.

In my opinion, this is just a controlled demonstration that may not be useful in real situations. However, it shows that Unitree is using its robots in different scenario settings for future development.

I think we are not far away from the i-Robot movie scenarios.

The Apple iPhone Duo is now on pre-order from 8pm (SGT) on 16 October 2026. I will do an unboxing once I got it. It is a piece of gadget from Apple that is so costly and never tested thoroughly by consumers. I am not sure what to expect.

Tesla “Flying” Roadster

Tesla is showing off a Rocket Roadster that I believe is one of the kind that I have seen. It has compressed air propelling the car and guiding it safely to the ground.

This technology is “copied” from Elon Musk’s Space X. Check out the short video above. Amazing.

However, I do not think that this is even legal on the road. Nevertheless, Elon is saying that this Tesla Roadster will be available from 2028. What do you think?

On the poster, it says “更智能 更出彩”, which translates to “Smarter, more Brillant”. If you look at the last Chinese word on the poster, it has some colors on it. And the meaning of the word “彩” means color. So, many are speculating a full color AI glasses. Currently, the AI Glasses from Rokid is monochrome (Green to be specific).
