Registering your own domain name can be a trying process – especially if you go through all of the steps only to realize that someone else has already registered the domain name that you wanted.

With Register.com and their tool that allows you to check available domain names, you can save yourself a considerable amount of time and energy. The ability to search for available domain names is simple. You can enter the domain names into the search bar, and from there the site does all the work.

If a domain name is already registered, the web site will not only tell you that, but it will also give you whatever public information is available about the site and who registered it.

If the domain name is available, you can register it directly from the site. Register.com will take you through the full process to register your new domain name. It even offers a website creation tool that can help you to get your personal or business website up with as little hassle as possible. The company claims that their customer service is some of the best. They are constantly in touch with their users to make sure that they are getting the most out of their domain services.

If you happen to run into an issue with your domain or website building, the customer service and tech support at Register.com are actually available 24 hours a day. This can make a world of difference for international users and those who keep late hours.

One of the most effective promotional tools for any business is a compact disk. With the ability to store a large amount of information with easy access to its dissemination, a CD allows even the smallest company to spread their message much farther than they could through any other method.

Before, once you are done with the production of the materials for your CD, you can take your product to a professional duplication plant in order to be manufactured in large numbers. However, this is not the best solution nowadays. Today, CD duplicators allow even the smallest of companies to take on the entire responsibility of producing your CD in house. You no longer have to pay the convenience costs of having someone else take the duplication process off of your hands. As a matter of fact, depending on the size of CD duplication machine that you get, you can actually perform your manufacturing process faster than a professional plant.

CD duplicators come with the ability to place labels on the front of the CD or print them directly through lasers depending on the process. There are various companies that offer CD duplicators for small businesses. One of the companies that claim to be reputable in this line of business is Summation Technology.

Enterprise resource planning or ERP is a software that allows companies or organizations to manage the entire business organization using a system of integrated applications. ERP software systems usually cover aspects such as development, manufacturing, sales and marketing.

The ERP software is made up of modules. Each ERP module is focused on one aspect of the business and oftentimes, these modules are individually purchased according to the needs and technical capabilities of the company or organization.

Some of the common ERP modules are the following:

Order management

Inventory management

Warehouse management

Procurement

Manufacturing management

Planning

Financial management

CRM

Business Intelligence

eCommerce

Project accounting

Technology

There are various companies that sell ERP systems. While it might be feasible for organizations who have the technical expertise to buy their ERP modules from different suppliers, it is better to buy all of the business’ ERP modules from one single company that exclusively develop, sell, implement and support such ERP system.

Because ERP systems encompasses many aspects of the business, the data that they provide help streamline the operations, increase profitability and gain a strategic competitive advantage.

Among the popular vendors of ERP systems are SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Sage, Infor, QAD, IFS, Lawson, Epicor, Consona, Exact Globe, Syspro, Visibility, CDC Software, Activant Solutions and NetSuite.

A fellow blogger who is planning to migrate from Blogger to WordPress recently asked me about web servers, whether she will need a dedicated server or a shared server, and what to look for when searching for a web host.

What are Servers?

First, let me share with you why one needs a server. When you’re working on your computer, you get to access and use the files that you have on that computer (can be any information such as videos, images or other content). Once you share something to the world via the internet, everybody can now access your files through your domain name or IP address. However, to keep your site accessible all the time, you need to have that particular computer turned on 24/7 all year round – which is generally not a feasible idea.

This is where web hosts come in. They provide the physical computer where you can save your files via the internet and then they are the ones who serve or share the information to the rest of the world thru the internet as well.

Dedicated Servers

A dedicated server is a type of web hosting where one client owns (or rents) the entire server. He gets to use and control all the resources of that computer. He can pick his own operating software and tailor the database, email and applications according to his needs. This type of web hosting is expensive and usually costs hundreds of dollars per month.

Shared Servers

A shared server is a type of web hosting where different clients are assigned to a single server. Compared to a dedicated server, what one can do and control in a shared server is limited because he is only assigned a limited disk space to work with. In addition, when one of the sites in the shared server becomes rogue, your site usually gets affected as well because you are basically sharing the same computer. This type of hosting usually costs less than ten dollars per month.

What To Look For When Choosing a Web Host

Based on what I shared above, one should prioritize the following when looking for a web host:

Security – it is important to find a web host that is secure so that your site will not be affected by malware and other rogue applications, especially if you’re using shared hosting

Always up – you are getting a web host for them to serve your site to the rest of the world. If your site is always down or inaccessible, that defeats your purpose for buying a web hosting account.

Customer support – you need to be assured that just in case you need help regarding your website, there’s always a person available via chat, email or phone who is competent enough to help you solve your site’s problems or issues.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post however, all points and views are 100% mine.

Nowadays, people mostly use phones and the internet to communicate wirelessly. In the early 1900′s, radio equipment was the one used by people to exchange messages. Two-way telegraphy traffic was already commercially available across the Atlantic Ocean in 1907 and in 1923, the first mobile two-way radio was developed in Australia.

The following are among the popular uses or functions of two-way radios (or radios that can both receive and transmit content with similar radios that operate on the same channel or radio frequency):

Family or Personal Use

Included in this function are those times that you need to keep in touch with your family, friends or group while you’re traveling, enjoying the outdoors, hiking, fishing, in a theme park perhaps, a shopping mall, or for recreational purposes.

Organizational Use

Some organizations use radios to coordinate rapid responses in cases of emergencies. Whether for business or pleasure, two-way radios can keep the organization’s leaders, staff and volunteers in touch with each other.

Business Use

Businesses and organizations use two-way radios, walkie-talkies or handy-talkies to carry out their business or organizational goals. Examples of these are farming walkie talkies used in small farms, school radios and two-way radio equipment used by the military, retail stores and hotels.

What other functions of two-way radios can you think of? Do you agree that two-way radios are in the brink of “extinction” because of the advancement in cellular phone and internet technologies? Care to share your thoughts in the comments section below?

Having a business signage for your business is important. It can be an integral part of your company’s overall marketing strategy, reinforcing your brand and drawing attention to your promotions.

A business or corporate signage can be a cost-effective form of commercial advertising. Whether it is within the premises of the business or off-premises, the cost-per-thousand exposures (or cost of reaching a thousand potential customers) of strategically placed signage is less than those of advertising in newspapers, radio and televisions.

To people who have never heard of your business or company, your sign is like your handshake to the public. You can attract customers, instill your brand in their minds and can even create impulse sales from them.

One of big companies who recognize the importance of signage is McDonald’s. Even before they break ground, they already install a sign in every new location. Small businesses may not be able to compete with the almost $40,000 budget that McDonald’s put on signage per location but they can follow this example of prioritizing the company’s signage (and not making it as the least priority in the business).

There was a study conducted in 1997 by the University of California that was commissioned by the California Electric Sign Association and the International Sign Association regarding on-premise signage performance. According to that study, addition of on-premise signs incresed sales and the number of annual transactions.

The Bottom Line: Signage is important. It is imperative for every business, big or small, to make their signages an integral part of theiir marketing campaign.

TWD is a systems integration company that offers unified communication services in enterprise information technology, IT infrastructure services, IT security solutions and collaboration technologies. Their headquarters is at Arlington, Virginia and currently has approximately 330 employees, 89 percent of which hold US government clearances. They operate a 10,000 square foot warehouse in Beltsville, Maryland and a 2,500 square foot warehouse (and a 3,000 square foot test lab) in Springfield, Virginia.

TWD has gained its prominence in the federal IT marketplace since its incorporation in 1992 as a small, minority owned Section 8(a) business. They began work with the Office of Homeland Security in 2001 and they were awarded the SEAPORTe prime contract and the DHS EAGLE prime contract in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Last year, they awarded the USG ONE contract, a prestige held by only nine companies who were ever awarded that contract.

With over 20 years of knowledge and experience, TWD claims to be a leader in design, engineering and installation of innovative, unified communication solutions and industry-leading enterprise information technology. If you want to learn more about this company, you can visit their company website, wwww.twd.com.
