Password protecting your Excel Worksheet can prevent others open your works with your permission. To allow only authorized users to view or modify your data, you can help secure your entire workbook file with a password.

To do it, just follow below steps:-

• Open your Excel workbook, on the File menu, click Save As.

• On the Tools menu, click General Options.

• Do either or both of the following:

• If you want users to enter a password before they can view the workbook, type a password in the Password to open box, and then click OK.
• If you want users to enter a password before they can save changes to the workbook, type a password in the Password to modify box.

•  Click OK.
• When prompted, retype your passwords to confirm them.
• Click Save.
• If prompted, click Yes to replace the existing workbook.

Recently when i launch Internet Explorer on my Windows XP machine, it keep on pop up an error message “The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context”. I tried to perform Windows update, the Internet Explorer also prompt the same error message. I tried to ignore the error message, but the Internet Explorer will quit automatically.

So, i tried to do research on Internet regarding this problem. Actually a lot of Windows users facing the same problem. The problem is come from the IE 7/ IE8.  To solve this problem, you have to reinstall the IE7/IE8.

Below are the steps:

• Enter Add/Remove Programs (Start > Settings > Control Panel)
• Find Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8
• Click Uninstall
• Reboot your Windows
• Re-Launch Internet Explorer (now back to 6)
• Run Windows Update again to upgrade to latest version on Internet Explorer

I think this kind of problem only happen on Microsoft product. So, don’t expect too much on Microsoft product…hahaha.

By default, you can watching YouTube videos on iOS devices.  But you unable to download it and watch later.

There is an apple app called MXTube that allows you to download YouTube video for offline viewing. Besides, it also allow you to stream the youtube video. But this cool apps is not available in apple store. This free apps only available in Cydia store. So, you will need to jailbreak your iOS devices in order to install MxTube from Cydia store.

To install MxTube

• launch Cydia store

• Search for MxTube

• After that, press on Install button to install it

Download Movies with MXTube

• It is very easy to use it. First you just Search for YouTube videos inside MXTube application.

• After that, just click on the video you want to download and select the quality.

Recently i just deploy OCS Inventory NG (Open Computers and Software Inventory Next Generation) to track my IT assets. OCS-NG collects information about the hardware and software of network machines that running the OCS client program (“OCS Inventory Agent”).

In my network environment, i have machine that run on Windows and Mac OS X.

In this tutorial, i just show how to install OCS Inventory agent on Mac OS X machine. You can download the latest OCS Inventory agent installer from OCS Inventory official website. I did try to install the latest version of OCS inventory agent for Mac but it doesn’t work. So, i decided to use the older version of OCS inventory agent which is version 1.1. This version work fine for me in Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.6.

Let’s start with installation of a Mac OS X agent. Download the Mac OS X agent from here and unzip the file. Once the file has been extracted, double-click on Agent_MacOSX_1.1.pkg to start the installation. During the installation, you just follow instruction from installation wizard and click continue to move forward.

Once the installation finished, now you have to configure your Mac OS X machine to communicate with OCS Inventory Server. To communicate with OCS inventory server, you have to point your OCS inventory agent point to the OCS inventory server ip address or domain name.

Here are the steps:-

• launch your terminal
• edit OCS inventory agent configuration files by enter following command

 sudo nano /etc/ocsinventory-agent/ocsinventory-agent.cfg

• Change the default server name ocsinventory-ng to your server ip address or domain name

server=192.168.0.2
logfile=/var/log/ocsng.log
delaytime=30

• After change, just save the file.

Now the final step that you have to do is to force the OCS inventory agent run. To do it, just enter the following command in your terminal.

sudo /Applications/OCSNG.app/Contents/Resources/ocsinventory-agent

Now you can login to your OCS inventory server web GUI. You should be able to see your Mac machine information appear on the web GUI.

Zimbra’s collaboration suite can be accessed from the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad which will pull in calendar, contacts, and email. So, it possible to Zimbra Calendar with your IOS devices.

If you would like to sync just your Zimbra calendar, just follow below steps:-

Now, you should be ready to configure Google Sync on iPhone.

• On your iOS devices home screen tap “Settings” application.

• then Mail, Contacts, Calendars

• Under Accounts, select Add Account…Because Zimbra is not listed, we have to select Other

• Select Add CalDAV Account

Enter the following info:-

Server: your mail server URL. (Example: mail.techkaki.com)
Username: Your zimbra email (Example: contact@techkaki.com)
Password: your zimbra email password
Description: a description of your choosing

• After that, click Next
• You may be prompted with a warning message. Just “Accept” it.
• Finally, just select Done.
• Now your IOS devices will sync the calendar from your Zimbra server.

I found a very useful feature in Excel that allows you to split your data in one column into multiple columns based on a simple condition. This useful feature is ‘text to columns’ which is a option under the Data menu that allows information in a cell or range of cells to be split into columns.

Below is a simple tutorial to show you how to use this useful Excel feature.

Example:

I have a product list that represents product model and serial number. How do I split the product number (Sample A) into two separate columns (Sample B) by using excel?

To do that, just follow below steps:-

• Highlight the content that you want to split.

• Select “Data” at the menu bar and click on “Text to Columns”, tick on “Fixed width” to continue the conversion by clicking “Next” button.

• Create the line break at the desire position and click “Next”.

• Select the “Text” option and choose on cell that you want to location the data in “Destination” column.

• Click on the “Finish” button after selected the destination and you will see a message box appear as below. Click “OK” to proceed and you will obtain the same result as Sample B.

I just discover a cool trick on iOS devices. The cool trick that i going to share here is how to take a screen shoot of your iOS devices. It is useful when you want to show friend or colleague a snap shot of your iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) to guide them do the setting of the new application.

To take a print screen of your iOS devices, just follow below steps:-

• First, go to the screen that you intend to snapshot or capture.
• Hold down the Home button and then press the power button.

• Once released, a flash screen with white background will appear together with camera capture sound, indicating that the screen has been captured successfully.
• To view the screen shoot that you capture just, just go to Photo icon, you will notice those images have been stored under Camera Roll, just like where you store photos captured using iPhone’s built in camera.

I got complaint from my user about their Thunderbird email client spell check function. According to them, the spell check function stop working. I tried to do misspelled two word in this email client to demonstrate the problem. I found that the email client fail to detect the wrong spelling.

To perform troubleshooting on this problem, i try to check on Thunderbird Options setting by using bellow steps .

From the pop-up dialogue shows an empty grey box for “Language” which means that Dictionaries & Language Packs installed on that computer. To solve the spell check issue, just need to manually install Dictionaries & Language Packs.

Below are the steps:-

• Click Add to Thunderbird.
• Wait for the download to finish; even if nothing seems to be happening, chances are a dialog will eventually appear.
• Click Install Now under Install add-ons only from authors whom you trust..
• Now click Restart Now.

Done!!

You can easily transfer Photos from your iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod) to your Mac computer. The easiest way to transfer pictures from your iOS devices to your Mac is through Preview. You’ll need to connect your iOS devices to your Mac computer via USB cable. In this tutorial, i will going to use my iPod Touch to do it.

Below are the few simple steps to do it:-

• Launch Preview
• From the File menu navigate down and select “Import from iPod…”

• Select “Import All” to get all the pictures, otherwise individually select pictures and click ‘Import’

• By default, all the picture will import to  ~/Pictures/ folder. You can change the location by select the your preferable location from the drop down box. In this example, i will select the default location.
• After import, the photos show up on Preview so you can edit, crop or color correct if you’d like.

Besides using Preview, you can also transfer pictures to your Mac with iPhoto or Image Capture. If you have any other alternative to do it, just share with me by leave your comment here

I’m sure every iDevice (iPad, iPhone, iPod) user would like to access App Store download games or apps to play. To download Apps from App store, every user require to create an Apple ID, but most of them will stuck at credit card info portion. It is because most of user refuse to give away their credit card info. The following tutorial i going to show you how to create new Apple ID without a credit card.

To create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card please follow the steps below :-

Step 1: Download and install iTunes

For Windows users, just click HERE to download latest version of iTunes

Step 2: Open iTunes on your computer and click on “iTunes Store”.

Note: Please be ensure that you are not logged in to iTunes Store

Step 3: Once the iTunes Store has loaded, try to download any of the free apps. Eg: Facebook

Step 4: A pop-up windows will prompt you to login. Just click Create New Account

Step 5: You are directed to the “Welcome to the iTunes Store” screen. Click Continue

Step 6: Read the iTunes Store Terms & Conditions. Make sure you check the box next to where it says “I have read and agree to the iTunes Terms and Conditions.” if you agree with it.

Step 7: Fill in your details by enter your email address, create your password, continue to create and answer your security question, then enter your birthday. After that, Click Continue.

Step 8: Select None as the payment option and continue fill up the form.

Step 9: You’ll then see a screen that says ‘Verify your Account‘. Click Done and then check your email for a verification email from iTunes Store

Step 10: A verification email will send to your mailbox. You just need to login to your mailbox and verify the email to activate your account.

After this, you should able to use your new Apple ID to log in App Store. Done!!!:-)
