It tries to download ASetup_2024-6.exe from server 195.5.161.171.   I didn’t download the file because I already knew what that was all about.   I recommend people who have downloaded this file and installed to do a full antivirus with a trusted and known Antivirus software vendor. This Fake Antivirus software is not real and you should be careful what you install or download.

Most of the time, These sites are injected into one's browser by way of a Trojan taking over the system. If left untreated these sites will become more and more profound trying to get you to install them. Most of the time these are installed in unsuspecting computers by way of exploits, backdoors, or unsafe downloading practices. This usually means that if you have it you should remove it by any means necessary because this software has been know to cause more and more trouble as time goes by. This software is fake ware, it tries to tell you have a virus and that they can get rid of it. In fact, this software is not designed with Antivirus engine in mind but to illicit pop ups and warning to raise the users security concerns about the computer in question. Downloading programs from bit torrents or other unsafe ways can and most likely will have these types of programs installed alongside the program you wanted.

As you can see Monoprice.com and on their Facebook page, people are still getting Fraudulent charges. I just wanted to talk about this a little to remind people about Credit Card Security. I would expect you once they start to take Credit cards to start using Paypal one time Credit cards if you are going to buy anything from any other retailer. As you can see right now they are going to use Paypal checkout and Google Checkout to make purchases in the coming weeks.

This however is a small step to fixing the problem at hand. They are trying to be as transparent as possible with their customers but they will always have doubt when Monoprice starts to use Credit Cards in the coming future. It is going to be really interesting to see when that does come back up. I encourage everyone to use not give out your True Credit card information online and if you need to buy something online to use the PayPal.

This was a quick post to let people know about the news that is still going around with Monoprice!! Until this is fully fixed I suggest getting your cables from Amazon.com.

Ok So you bought your modem and you have Windows 7 (64 bit O/s) but it keeps coming back asking for you to install the A600 modem files. So I wanted to talk briefly about how to get it to work:

• If you haven’t Bought the Modem yet — You will need to go buy it first to go through this process. The A600 modem is the only one that will work with Windows 7, and that is from Cricket Wireless.
• Once you receive your Modem — Plug it in!!
• Go through the new setup process — Let it try to install the software. (You can download the newest software from Cricket directly: Click this link)
• Once your have install the software you will see the Quicklink modem menu but you will not be able to connect. You will need to go to the Modem virtual CD rom location. This will have a directory in it called ‘WIN‘. There you will find “setupdrv.exe“. You will need to double click that and install the drivers. It will ask how you want to install it, you should pick the recommended settings.
• This should show bring up an icon showing that drivers are being installed. Once you have it say that is installed. You can then go to the final step.
• Double click the Cricket Icon and try to connect to the network. (If you still can’t connect, you should call Cricket and see if you have a service problem)

After I did all this I could connect to Cricket Wireless without a problem. Every time I insert the modem, it can now find the modem and I can connect to Cricket without a problem. I hope this helps solves the problem and encourage you to tell everyone who is having problems with their Cricket Wireless modem to send them to this blog post to help them fix the problem!!

So I have an Windows 7, for two months and would like to talk about some security thoughts that I would recommend to anyone who has a 64 bit system.

Now it is true that 64 bit systems are a little more secure or I would call less exploited because of how many people actually are using 32 bit systems and not 64 bit system. So the virus and exploit writers are focusing on the 32 bit system but sooner or later 64 bit system will become main stay. I am sure it will happen in the coming years, just not sure when.

So I want to talk about just what you should have installed and why you should have some type of security with your 64 Bit systems. I am sure I can hear people asking me about the 64 bit drivers for these programs. I am here to tell you about my experiences with Windows 7. To be truthful, the drivers for programs have been very easy to find and not anywhere hard to use for Windows 7. I have SuperAntiSpyware, AVG 9.0, ZoneAlarm Pro, and Malwarebytes running on this system at any given time.

I also will recommend people use Internet Explorer (64 bit) version if you plan to not have another browser installed:

Now I know I can use the 32 bit browsers and use the Adobe player but I am quite surprised that they are Adobe is taking it’s sweet time with 64 bit support. There are ways to work around it and you can try the 64 bit beta version but that seems to not work so well. I would think Adobe would want to make sure they can keep Windows 64 secure by releasing the player for 64 systems. I can only hope they release it quickly and fix the problems that are associated with it before hand.

So I was using Godaddy but I talked about in the past that I went to Just Host for my hosting 2 months ago. I did not have any trouble with setting up the service. The Emails to them were terrific, they were nice and prompt.

Why did I switch from Godaddy to Just Host?

I was having some slow responses from Godaddy’s Servers so i thought it would be best to move to a better server.   Not to say Godaddy isn’t good but I thought it was time for a change.   My website has outgrown the servers from Godaddy.    After the transfer, my response time for loading and going to pages increased by at least 300%.   I don’t know if it was a misconfiguration or if it was something I did.   I don’t’ even know if it was Godaddy or if it was something I did with the Wordpress installation on Godaddy.   I can actually load up my pages a lot faster now.

What other domains have been transferred?

That is simple, I have both Tech-linkblog.com and Tech-linkforum.com transferred this hosting without a problem.  It actually went a lot faster with my forums because I learned my lesson with Wordpress and how to do it faster and more efficient.    If I get anymore domains, I am definitely going to put them on these servers.   It seems to have not slowed it down.

Would I recommend Just Host to other website Owners?

Ever since we got the Roku, I have been buying episodes from Amazon. The shows that we have started to order are quite interesting because of how Hulu like to wait a week before showing that particular episode. So what are the few shows that we decided we must watch when they become available on Amazon are:

As you know Amazon decided to drop all the associates from Colorado due to the new state tax.  I for one am not really happy with it because that means that if my state decides to have a tax for our online sales and I will be canceled by Amazon as a well.

So to make a point, I will ask all Colorado residents and anyone else who has had a Amazon associate account dropped to click on my links and bookmark them to show Amazon that we are not happy with how they are doing business. As I type this up I’d come to realize that I can do this with my speech recognition software installed with my Windows 7 Software.

I’m trying out the new speech recognition from Windows 7 right now and it is working really well. I can do what I have been doing in the past but with my voice. I am not using the keyboard to type this and I’m having such a good time with this new speech recognition is nice.

As you can see I will still have to work on some of the dictation with it because it still hasn’t learned all my talking preferences. I am however enjoyed having not to have to use the keyboard that to write up my blog post. I wanna talk about this and to make a point for people who are interested in the new Windows 7. As you can tell it still needs to work out some bugs, but I am working on it even more. It is like teaching a young child new speech.

Speech to text isn’t always easy but can be quite interesting. In this post I am talking about how I have done my blog post with speech recognition. I will however, have to go back and spell check this using the keyboard. I don’t foresee any problems though, because it is very easy to figure out what needs to be changed.

If you haven’t gotten windows 7 yet? It is about time, because XP couldn’t do half the stuff Windows 7 can do. I would recommend Windows 7 to anybody who might need speech recognition or language assisted desktop. With a little training and a lot of patience you can do a lot of things with Windows 7. I am using Plantronics .Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset and it seems to be working really well with my Acer aspire 5739 G laptop.

You going along and Windows seems to be slow and not so responsive. You go and start messing around with the Registry and later when you reboot your systems becomes frozen and nothing you do will get it back.

What is the Windows Registry used for?

The Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that stores configuration settings and options on Microsoft Windows operating systems. It contains settings for low-level operating system components as well as the applications running on the platform: the kernel, device drivers, services, SAM, user interface and third party applications all make use of the Registry. The registry also provides a means to access counters for profiling system performance.

What programs can I use to repair or Clean the Registry?

There are several different programs that can be used to help fix the registry or remove the unnecessary registry entries.  I can suggest a few good utilities to help you fix or repair Windows Registry:

• Registry Utilities Professional –  This is good program for repairing small registry problems.   This won’t fix major problems but it might help you get Windows back and running.
• System Mechanic – up to 3 PCs — This is good program to scan your registry and cleaning it. It hasn’t damaged any Windows systems  that I used this on but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t done that for others.
• CCleaner — This does a mild cleaning of the registry but won’t damage your system. I use this all the time to clear out cache files and clean out the registry.

Is there any tutorials that can help with editing the registry?

If your want to play around with a registry, I would always suggest creating a virtual Windows system and before you do anything to that registry, backing up the Virtual files.   That way if you do something wrong, all you have to do is copy everything back and it is like you never did it.  This post is to try to teach you a little about the registry.   If your looking for programs to clean and repair, I definitely suggest the programs above to do that, they have worked on systems in the past for me and I am sure they will do the same thing for you.
