JoshuaJones - Microsoft Announces Foray into Retail Store Sales Ala Apple

I had a similar thought when it came to buying products there. You have a problem with your Apple product, they can handle the problem at the Apple Store. You have a problem with your HP desktop, they do what at the MS Store? Give you the IT number for HP? Unless Microsoft is planning on making some warranty pack like most tech stores, I think it will become more of a headache than a boost in sales.

That completely defeats the purpose of having a so-called Microsoft Store. They might as well call the store Egghead as was suggested by one of the linked-to blogs. Or Fryes. Etc.

Brick-and-mortar has great potential to add another revenue stream for Microsoft. Unlike Apple, they can partner with as many hardware vendors as they need.

Jason - Microsoft Training vs. Apple Training - Part II (of II)

I used to have a MCSE and MCP certification in addition to a few others. I found that, at the time, they were largely unnecessary other than to help your resume stand out from the rest. These days, however, I and other networking colleagues will not hire a person to fit a position unless they have the certifications to attest to at least possessing some kind of demonstrated knowledge. It's easy for a person to forge experience and references; it's a little bit more complex to forge certification.
