Well, we may treat this as another confirmation to our growing list of evidences of the tablet’s existence..or not. However, any mention of this illusive tablet from the Cupertino company is well-worth discussing, don’t you think?

You may remember a few months back that New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller made a “slip” and mentioned the “impending Apple slate” at an internal meeting with his digital staff.

This time, it’s France Telecom deputy chief executive Stéphane Richard that uhm, made an affirmation regarding the tablet.

According to PCWorld, in an interview with journalist Jean Pierre Elkabbach, Richard twice interrupted with a “Oui” when Elkabbach talked of reports of an Apple tablet. Now, unless my French are that rusty, “Oui” means, “Yes”, right?

And when asked if Orange (owned by the French Telecom) customers will be able to enjoy the product, the deputy chief exec responded with “Bien sûr” which in English means, “Of course”.

So does mean this one’s a keeper? The PR people at Orange don’t want us to think so. They are now scrambling to recover from the slip, telling the MocoNews that Richard’s comments don’t count as confirmation and his words were just taken out of context, poorly translated, yada yada.

Well, what do you think?

iSuppli says Google’s Nexus One actually contains around $174-worth of hardware. To estimate the bill of materials, the company broke down all of the phone’s components and came up with a fairly simple breakdown.

The phone’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor is the most expensive part, costing $30.50. The OLED display comes in second with $23.50 then the device’s memory which is $20.40.

The Nexus One’s touchscreen assembly comes in next, costing $17.50 and the camera with $12.50.

The MicroSD Card ($8.50), Bluetooth/wLAN ($8.20) and Battery ($5.25) rounds up the breakdown. The rest of the expenses goes to parts like electrical components, power management technology and other mechanical hardware.

Manufactured by HTC, the Nexus One costs $529 if you buy it unlocked or $179 if it comes with a two-year T-Mobile contract.

What do you think? Is the price worth it?

The American Dialect Society, an association that studies the English language announced that late last week that the verb “Google” has been chosen at the top word of the past decade.

Other words up for the Word of the Decade include 9/11, blog, green, wi-fi, text and war on terror but it was search giant’s wide-spread use that beat them all off.

“I really thought ‘blog’ would take the honors in the word of the decade category, but more people google than blog, don’t they? Plus, many people think “blog” just sounds ugly. Maybe Google’s trademark lawyers would have preferred it, anyway,” Grant Barrett, chair of the society’s New Words Committee said in a statement.

The American Dialect Society also announced late last week that Twitter’s “tweet” as the top word of 2009.

“Both words are, in the end, products of the Information Age, where every person has the ability to satisfy curiosity and to broadcast to a select following, both via the Internet,” Barrett said.

The folks at Perfect Third wants to help you get a better sleep so they’ve created WakeMake – a Bluetooth wristband that measures the motion of your sleep patterns and circadian rhythms. It works with any cellular phone with Bluetooth capability.

So how does it work?

All you have to do is activate the WakeMate application and set a WakeMate-approved alarm before dozing off. Using actigraphy, a non-invasive method of monitoring human rest/activity cycles, the wristband uploads all the technical details (e.g. sleep patterns, etc.) to WakeMate’s servers.

When you wake up, you’ll be able to see how well you slept, and even data and facts about how much sleep you have been getting and how much you should be getting.

With continued use, the app will eventually rank your sleep performance using a faint praise or a subtle grumbling. The app will also give you advice how to get a better night’s sleep.

Interested? You can now pre-order your own WakeMate at their website for $50 with a $5 deposit and free worldwide shipping.

With this recent update, mouse cursor tracking while controlling remote systems has been improved, as well as reliability when controlling systems with dual graphics processors or when controlling client computers with two displays. There is also a more reliable drag-and-drop file copy.

The update also fixes some issues of the previous version including better handling of IP address and port changes for clients using Network Address Translation (NAT), improved authenticating new client computers and improved reporting of results for failed software installations. Asset management problems like correct reporting of MacBook Air MAC addresses were also fixed.

The 4.21MB client update and the 51.41 admin update require Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later, or Mac OS X 10.6 or later, or the corresponding Mac OS X Server version of any of those. It is both available via Software Update and at you can download it at Apple’s Support Downloads page.

The Nexus One weighs 4.59 ounces and looks very chic in its silver finish. It has a powerful speech-to-text feature with high accuracy even in a noisy room.

The Nexus One also has the ability to use a video wallpaper with 3D images.

Motorola’s Backflip has a 3.1-inch touchscreen which can be propped up and a QWERTY keyboard that can be folded back behind the screen.

The most notable feature on this phone however, is the ability to touch the touchscreen from the back. According to the company, developers will be building apps to use the back touch functionality so that’s something we will have to wait and see.

Not even out in the market yet and just days-old after it’s unveiling, Google’s Nexus One is already facing a problem.

According to a report in the UK’s Telegraph, the family of author Philip K. Dick wants to sue Google for using the Nexus One name. Dick’s daughter even sent the company a letter on Wednesday telling them to drop the name of the new smartphone.

“In my mind, there is a very obvious connection to my father’s novel,” Isa Dick Hackett, the late author’s daughter, said.

Philip K. Dick wrote the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? in 1968 which later on became the basis for the Blade Runner movie. It features a series of robots known as Nexus 6 models.

Google, according to the Telegraph, maintains that they based the phone’s name on the nexus’s common meaning which is defined as a “place where things converge”.

In addition to that, Dick’s family does not hold the trademark on the Nexus One name so I’m guessing this a trial they won’t win. But who knows?

Fans of these little people have something to celebrate about.

EA announced on Thursday that The Sims 3: World Adventures will be invading to your iPhones soon. The company didn’t mention the exact release date nor the price for this expansion pack but don’t worry, it will definitely come to the App Store.

So what’s new in this release? Like in the full Mac version, your Sims won’t be stuck in the everyday, domesticated environment. Now they’ll be able to go to exotic places like Champs Les Sims in France, Shang SimLa in China and Al Simhara in Egypt with lots of new sights and adventures. It consists of fifty-two new goals and four new mini-games. There will also be new clothing styles, furniture and even new face types for your Sims.

Those who already have the original iPhone release can transfer their favorite characters and even content from in-app purchases from the old game to the new one.

Will you purchasing this expansion pack?

Dell seems pretty focused on their gaming consumers as they display a new gaming laptop and monitor from Alienware at the CES this week.

The Alienware M11x has an 11-inch display screen with an HD 720p resolution. Don’t let the small size fool you though, because according to the company, it has “all the power of a 15-inch laptop” and it is “”as easy to carry as it is powerful”. Dell did not mention the laptop for reports say its below $1000.

For those who really do want larger screens, Dell is also set to release their M15x ($1,399) and M17x ($1,799) models. The M17x will run on Intel Core i7 processors.

Also on display on Dell’s booth is the 23-inch Alienware OptX AW2310 monitor. It is capable of in-game 3D through NVIDIA 3D Vision technology. You will have to fork out a separate $499 for it though as it is sold separately from NVIDIA.

In addition to the E6 (6-inch) and E101 (10-inch), Samsung apparently also have a 5-inch model and 6-inch model with a QWERTY keypad.

Similar to the E6 and E101, the two newly-unveiled models also have touchscreens and users can write directly on the screens using a stylus with a built-in electromagnet resonance (EMR).

The two is set to be released on March or April, months ahead of the E6 ($399) and the E101 ($699) which are both set to be launched on July. Pricing for the two new eReaders however aren’t available yet.
