Seiko Epson Corporation (“Epson,” TSE: 6724) has developed the world’s lightest*1 GPS-enabled running monitor, which also boasts an extremely thin design. Designed to be worn on the wrist and equipped with long battery life*2, the monitor uses GPS to provide runners with accurate distance, pace and other data. Epson plans to release a commercial version of the monitor in Japan in 2012 as the company’s first entry in the electronic sporting goods market.

Demand for running equipment has soared along with an escalating number of distance runners and races in Japan, Europe, America, and other developed economies. Looking to serve this demand, Epson developed a comfortable, unobtrusive GPS running monitor that provides long battery life, accurate running data, and excellent water resistance, ensuring maximum appeal to weekend joggers and serious racers alike.

Impressive water resistance will offer added peace of mind. Ordinary GPS running watches are rated to meet the IPX7 immersion protection standard, which means they can be fully submerged in water no deeper than one meter for a maximum of 30 minutes. Epson’s running monitor, however, is water resistant up to 5 bars, or 50 meters of water. This level of protection means users can safely use the monitor not only in a downpour but even while showering or swimming.

FUJIFILM is all set to raise the curtain of a new era by introducing interchangeable lenses. The pioneer in the digital imaging field today unveiled FUJIFILM X-Pro 1, the first digital mirror-less interchangeable lens camera.

FUJIFILM India Pvt. Ltd., the wholly owned subsidiary of FUJIFILM Holding Corporation, Japan has also launched three newly designed fixed ‘X mount’ lens.

These interchangeable lenses are having 18 millimetre f2, 35 millimetre f1.4 and 60 millimetre f2.4. The X-mount featured on the X-Pro 1 has a thin profile and quick shutter time lag.

FUJIFILM X-Pro 1 is FUJIFILM’S response to the unprecedented success of FinePix X100 and they re-imagined the digital camera, this time, with mirror-less interchangeable lenses.

The X-Pro 1 body includes a 16 megapixel APS-CMOS image sensor with FUJIFILM’s EXR processing technology. While X-Pro sensor gives a clearer image with the 6×6 colour array as compared to standard 2×2 array. It allows the users to instantly switch between an electronic and optical viewfinder thanks to X-Pro 1’s Hybrid multi-viewfinder.

Any one who sees it for the first time will fall in love with its retro look with a sleek black design and 3-inch LCD screen. X-Pro 1 is for those who want all the advantages of a small, rangefinder-like camera in a reasonable price. It will be a best option for a high-end second camera for professional photographers and serious amateurs.

According to Mr. Kenichi Tanka, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India, “The huge response we received from users of X-100 leads us to develop X-Pro 1 with some added features. With X-Pro 1 we are entering into the digital mirror-less camera market which has shown a rapid growth due to their portability in term of size and weight. Similarly XF Lenses designed especially for the X-Pro1, promises enhanced resolution and light volume in image edge areas as well as reduced chromatic aberration for exceptional image quality. It will definitely be a hit in the digital camera market like its predecessor X-100 and repeat the success.”

Intel is taking its Ultrabook™ message to the streets, literally, using 60 of the new ultra-thin, ultra-responsive and ultra-secure computing devices in a flash mob to create a giant mobile human billboard.

The company has launched a series of videos on YouTube featuring the Ultrabook™ Pop-Up Theater and events filmed in and around Los Angeles landmarks. The screen of the ‘theater’ is composed of 60 synchronized and choreographed Ultrabook™ computers.

The light-hearted campaign is designed to introduce Ultrabooks™, a new category of computers inspired by Intel. The next generation in mobile computing, Ultrabooks are thinner, lighter and more responsive than traditional laptops and more powerful and secure than tablets.

The first Ultrabooks—from brands* like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Samsung and Toshiba—are in stores now. Intel expects more than 75 designs to be available or in development in 2012 and that Ultrabooks will become mainstream devices by the end of the year.

According to Jayant Murty, Intel’s Asia Pacific director of brand strategy and integrated marketing: “We wanted to launch Ultrabook™ to the world in a fun and unexpected way. Ultrabook™ Pop-Up Theater showcases the nature of these great new devices and demonstrates how they can inspire and delight us during everyday moments.

Stephanie Gan, manager of advertising and digital programs manager for Intel Asia Pacific, said the campaign involved collaboration between creative and technology experts, as well as an energetic team of 60 young men and women, who helped bring Pop-Up Theater to life.“We took Ultrabook™ Pop-Up Theater to more than 10 locations in three days—including the famous Chinese Theater, Venice Beach and downtown—entertaining and engaging with crowds as it unfolded. We hope many more people will enjoy it on-line.”

Overall creative direction and concept for the Pop-Up Theater video project was managed by PARTY, working closely with dof Inc., from production through editing.
