I am working for an Australian company who has outsourced the work to India. They have outsourced the job because the work done by us is 10 times cheaper price than they'll have to pay in Australia. Plus we work for 11 hours a day and do not get paid on hourly basis.

By outsourcing the job, the Australian company is getting extra 3 hours job done by 9 people (3 x 9 = 27 hours everyday) at 10 times less wages.

I started my company based on Gayle's advice of oursourcing. I would also like to add that I have also done a lot of bartering on craigslist.org and dibspace.com.

Having outsourced approximately 200 hours ranging from $3 - $12 I found that dealing with a person directly is better than dealing with a middle man. On the other side, the middle man may have other resources that can pick up the work if someone calls in sick or a family emergency occurs.

What is important is to set clear expectations from the get go and to collaborate locally and internationally. Without Gayle's help I would have never been able to start www.GuysAndGirlsNextDoor.com which opens its doors on September 15.

It's a mix of business and personal. I run two small companies (CareerCup.com and SeattleAntiFreeze.com), so I outsource a web design, web development, content editing and a large variety of other tasks.

I have hired some people from the US, but it's unusual. The majority are from other countries, because I don't have the money to hire a US employee (and you don't necessarily get better quality).

At least you are honest about why you are outsourcing work. IMO, too many companies complain that they cannot find qualified workers in the US, so they must outsource, or bring the workers in on visas.

I'm mostly outsourcing to India and the Philippines (I've actually found the latter to have better English skills). From what I've heard, the specialized remote assistant shops are pretty pricey. I just look on odesk.com and hire people myself. I've generally had better experience when someone represents themselves rather than dealing with a company playing middle man.

That seems to be another theme in the Argentine psyche -- a sense of defeatism. "unfortunately we have to live like that"?!? no you don't! just change your locks!

our apartment in the congreso neighborhood has the same crazy locking doors that require a key to exit. unbelievable. yes, there is a lot to love about argentina. but this defeated attitude is not one of them.

Anonymous: I understand that you want parents to be notified of health decisions involving their 17 year old. All else being equal, I might prefer that as well.

17 year olds, unfortunately, make stupid decisions. If forced to ask for permission for emergency contraception (EC), the majority will just "chance it" instead.

If you agree with my assessment of 17 year olds, then please tell me which of these two situations you prefer:
1) A 17 year old does not take EC and instead often gets pregnant
2) A 17 year old takes EC without her parents' permission and does not get pregnant.

Being very opposed to unplanned teenage pregnancies, I'm obviously going to have to go with option #2. And you? Which do you prefer?

This blog makes my heart sick. It is a sad day when the government overrides fundamental parental rights. I have many moral issues with this as well...but even all those aside- simply politically i think it is terrible when the government intrudes into family life and removes a parent's authority to make decisions for the best interest of their own child.
(obviously removing a child from an abusive situation is a totally different situation)

This is just the thrashings of the religious right led by the republican hegemony that has recently lost and will continue to lose because of its hatred of anything unlike themselves. We are a nation that will lose when only some are protected and not all. Silly but it will eventually happen. The nation is changing and signs are that the republicans lost. Oh my, that article is painful to read. I would add that condoms are available to everyone and that plan B is a responsible back-up method in case of a condom breaking.

I don't even see it as a 'major decision'. "Ummm, the condom just broke. Let's get plan B." There is no thought to it.

The assumption that you can see a doctor, affordably, in the US health system is a complete joke within the 72 hour timeframe is incorrect. And plan B is more effective the sooner it is taken after sex.
