Dropbox, the popular cloud storage service has recently introduced a new feature that will allow users to share links directly from desktop.

Previously, when you wanted to share a file, you were first directed to your browser, had to be logged in and then you can get the sharing link. Well, there’s no need to do this anymore as the process has been simplified.

Now, when you right-click on any file or folder stored in your Dropbox folder, you can see the option for “Share Dropbox Link.” All you need to do is to click on it and then the sharing URL will be automatically copied to your clipboard. You can now paste this URL anywhere to share with others. To paste, simply press Ctrl + V (or Command + V for those on Mac), but you already knew this, right!

Just to clear the doubt, you can send the link to anyone, even if that person is not using Dropbox.

For sure, this new update from Dropbox is a minor one, but still very useful if you want to quickly share files or folders with anyone – be it your friends, family, co-workers or any other person.

4. Scroll down to agree to the terms and then click on the “Convert” button.

Verifying your Website on Pinterest

If you’re a business, then you won’t like to miss this step as it’s very important. When you verify your website, a little check mark, also known as verification badge will appear next to the website URL which will increase the trust of users about your website.

Pinterest says that right now you can only verify top level domains. With this point in mind, let’s proceed forward.

1. Click on your business name from the top right side of the screen and then select “Your boards.”
2. Click on the small pencil icon on your profile.
3. Add your website to the Website field and then click on “Verify website.”
4. Click on “Download Verification File” and then save the HTML file to your computer.
5. Now you need to upload this HTML file to you web server at the root folder. This can be done by using FTP client like Filezilla or cPanel’s File Manager. Note that you should not upload the file to any sub-folder or else you’ll not be able to verify your site.
6. Go back to Pinterest and then click on “Complete Verification.”

If you’ve followed every step correctly, then you’ll be able to verify your website in no time. Once verified, you’ll get a tick mark next to your website link in the profile.

Once logged-in, click on the big blue “Upload files” button. As you can read on the site, you can upload up to 1000 EPUB or PDF files for FREE on Google Play. You have two options – either you can upload your EPUB and PDF files manually, or you can also import the books through your Google Drive, but only if you have any such files in your Google Drive.

One thing that you’ll need to keep in mind is that the file size should not exceed 50MB. After you’ve completed uploading the file, it takes some time to process the file, before you can start reading. But once the process finishes, you can start reading the book on your mobile devices using the Google Play Books app on your Android smartphone or tablet, on iPhone, iPad or on the web interface of Play Books.

Outlook.com is Microsoft’s brand new email service that’s built from the ground-up, which replaces Hotmail. With this new email service, Microsoft aims to attract users by offering a super clean interface, and good features. Most important of all, Outlook.com promises to focus on user’s privacy. The latest addition to Outlook.com is the ability to chat with your Google contacts right inside Outlook.com’s interface. Once you integrate both the services, you will be able to chat with your Outlook.com, Windows Live Messenger and Skype contacts with Google (Gmail and Google Talk) users from Outlook.com’s interface. But to do this, there’s a small procedure that you need to follow, and you’ll be up and running in no time.

Connect Outlook.com with Google Contacts

To get started, go to https://profile.live.com/home/services and click on Chat with your Google contacts.

Once you click on it, you’ll need to confirm that you really want to connect your Outlook account with Google. Click on Connect.

If you aren’t signed-in to your Google account, then you’ll need to enter your login details. Next, you’ll need to give permission to Microsoft to access your Google account. Click on Allow access.

You will now get a confirmation message that you’ve connected your Google account to your Outlook.com account. Click on Done.

Next, click on the Messaging panel (as shown in below screenshot) to open chat sidebar.

If the contact is online, then you can see the contact in green color and you can start chatting with him/her.

If for instance, you have connected multiple accounts like Facebook and Google, then you can select which service you want to use to chat with. You can now chat with your Google contacts (be it Gmail or Google Talk) right inside Outlook.com, and without navigating anywhere else.

Hope you like this new feature which enables you to chat with contacts from other services, right on Outlook’s interface. If you cannot see this feature, then you’ll need to wait for some time, as the feature is slowly rolling to all users.

One reason why a Windows PC runs slow is the number of startup applications that start with Windows. Such applications will start running in the background when your PC starts and then consume system resources. The only way to stop those applications to use your system resources is to disable/remove them from startup. Fortunately, doing this is a piece of cake in Windows 8.

The old method to manage startup programs still work in Windows 8, which requires user to type “msconfig” in Run window. This should open System Configuration utility. You can now visit the Services and Startup tabs to manage your startup programs in Windows 8.

While the above method works great, Windows 8 now comes with an interface for managing startup applications which can be accessed from the new Task Manager. This means that you can use the Task Manager to specify which applications load up when Windows starts.

Now, there are three ways to start Task Manager in Windows 8. One method is to right click on the Taskbar and click on Task Manager from the options.

Second method is to move your mouse to the extreme lower left corner of the screen and then you’ll be able to see the Start screen button. Left-click there to open power user menu, or alternatively, press Windows + X key. From the options, click on Task Manager.

The Task Manager can also be launched by searching for it on the Start screen. Simply type “task” (without quotes) and then hit Enter.

Now that you’ve opened Task Manager, you can see its default view which will show you only the name of the applications that are running. Click on the down arrow button to get more details.

Finally, you can click on the Startup tab which will display which programs start with Windows. If you see any unnecessary app or bloatware that you don’t regularly use, it makes sense to disable it from the startup. To do this, right-click on it and then click on Disable. Alternatively, you can just select the program and then click on Disable from the bottom of the dialog box.

When you’re done managing your startup programs/applications, click on the Close (X) button from the top right corner of the window.

Let’s say you don’t have a PDF reader installed on your PC and you are reading the PDF on Google Drive. In such a case, it might be difficult to remember the exact page which you were reading previously. Well, if you’re using Google Chrome browser, then there’s a solution.

Enter PDF Bookmarker for Google Docs, a Chrome extension that lets you bookmark pages in PDF, which you’ve opened through Google Drive (Docs). Chrome, from version 21 does not supports installing apps, extensions and user scripts from outside of Chrome Web Store. The most problematic situation is when users try to install scripts from Userscripts.org. When you click on the Install button from the user script page, you’ll get a message that says “Apps, extensions and user scripts cannot be added from this website.” There’s only one button for “OK”, and there’s nothing you can do apart from clicking it.

Previously, even after the message, the userscript was downloaded to the computer, but not anymore. The download process of the script won’t get started, and such a message will be displayed. Fortunately, we have a solution to this problem.

How to Install Userscripts on Chrome

This method will apply to installing userscripts from Userscripts.org, and from any other website that you trust. Firefox users will need to install the Greasemonkey extension to install userscripts. So without any further ado, let’s learn how to install such scripts on the latest version of Chrome.

Head over to Chrome Web Store and install the Tampermonkey extension. This is a userscript manager for Google Chrome that will help you to manage and edit all all your userscripts in the simplest way possible. With this extension, you can enable and disable userscript with just 2 clicks.

Once you’ve installed the Tampermonkey extension, head over to userscripts.org to install any script of your choice. Click on the “Install” button on Userscripts.org’s page. You’ll now get a pop-up asking “Do you want to install userscript in Tampermonkey or natively in Chrome”. Click on OK button to install this userscript with Tampermonkey.

Next, you’ll get a second pop-up window informing you about Userscript installation and its name. Click on OK. That’s all you need to do to install the userscript, and the same userscript will be automatically activated by Tampermonkey.

By clicking on the Tampermonkey icon from the toolbar, you can get new scripts or see which script is running on a particular page (for example; if you’ve installed YouTube center align script, and when you open YouTube, you’ll be able to see the name of active scripts running on YouTube). You can also force Tampermonkey to check for userscript updates or view Options. From “Options” page, you can enable, disable, trigger an update or remove a script in bulk. Think of this as a central page where you can perform many such important tasks.

Well, now that you know how to install Userscripts on Chrome, try installing useful scripts and enjoy using them. Use this method to bypass the restrictions placed by Google when installing anything outside of Chrome Web Store.
