DELIVERS INTERVIEWS FROM THE WATER DURING THE LIVE BROADCAST OF THE 2011 SPONSOR ME SUNSET OPEN

SUNSET BEACH, Hawaii, Jan. 20, 2011 — Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation unveiled the latest in its arsenal of Broadcasting genius, a waterproof microwave uplink microphone and video broadcasting system. The system, developed by Ubiquity and Ubiquity’s Director of Cinematography Mike Prickett, gave viewers of the 2011 Sunset Open a one of a kind experience never before seen in the action sports industry.

“One of Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation’s secret weapons was unveiled at Sunset,” said Carmichael. “This has never been done before,” said Mike Prickett. “The waterproof broadcasting system allows me to interview the surfers live in HD with HD quality sound while they are waiting for the next big set.”

Ubiquity’s new waterproof broadcasting system gave viewers of the live Sunset Open broadcast the one-of-kind experience of listening to some of the top name surfers describe their last ride and the current wave conditions. Viewers were given this experience by the broadcast transmission provided by Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation’s patented IP Backhaul technology.

“No other company in the world has done this before,” said Co-founder Connie Jordan.

Carmichael added, “This year’s Sunset Open views more like a live sporting event than ever before. We have really added value to the broadcast by giving the end user a more engaging experience by offering live interviews from both the water and the beach along with introducing the surfers with their backgrounds.”

Ubiquity strives to bring ease of use and accessibility to the end user. By doing so viewers of Ubiquity’s broadcasts are able to immersive themselves into the production and have a viewing experience unrivaled in the action sports industry.

The two day contest featured up to 12 foot sets and some of the best surfers in the world. The contest had an epic final heat between pro surfers Hank Gaskell, Joel Centei, Ian Walsh, and the defending 2010 Sunset Open Champion Myles Padaca. In the end, Hank Gaskell prevailed and cashed in on the $2,500 first prize for his efforts. The contest featured a total prize purse of $10,000 and gave surfers the opportunity to qualify for the coveted Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

Ubiquity broadcasted the 2011 Sponsor Me Sunset Open live, in stunning HD to Time Warner Oceanic Cable, on the internet at sponsorme.com, on Apple’s iPad and iPhone, as well as other mobile devices.

Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation’s patented technology and methodology continues to change the way the world views live broadcasts and simulcasts over the internet, television, and mobile devices.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2011 — Online real estate broker Sawbuck Realty (www.sawbuck.com) today announced the availability of the Sawbuck Real Estate app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The Sawbuck app lets users search the Multiple Listing Service for homes for sale, open houses and recent sales. The Sawbuck app leverages the iPhone’s social media, GPS and data collection capabilities to allow users to find, tour and evaluate the homes they like best.

Also today, Sawbuck launched service in the Philadelphia area allowing homebuyers to use Sawbuck.com and the new Sawbuck app to search for homes for sale and research recent sales.

The Social App for Real Estate

Whether searching for a home from the couch or car, the Sawbuck app allows users to take full advantage of their device’s GPS and social media capabilities. During a home search, users can set up self-guided tours with turn-by-turn driving directions, or arrange for agent-guided tours with top-rated local real estate agents. While touring homes, users can keep their friends and family in the loop by checking in via Twitter or Facebook, complete checklists to help remember details, and add private photos, videos, notes and ratings. The Sawbuck app immediately synchronizes with users’ Sawbuck.com accounts so they can also access check-ins, checklists, photos, notes and ratings from a computer.

The Ultimate Field Tool for Serious Homebuyers

Using GPS-technology, the Sawbuck app locates users on a dynamic map and identifies nearby homes for sale, open houses and recently sold comparables. Users can search by moving the map, using sortable lists or browsing photos; and filter by price, number of bedrooms or home type. Each for-sale listing includes all available photos, price history, property details, similar listings and open house information. In addition to real-time, detailed information and photos, users can view contract and sale prices for comparable homes. Out-of-area users also can use the Sawbuck app by selecting one of Sawbuck’s 13 markets.

“We’ve been hard at work on the app since last Summer,” said Guy Wolcott, Sawbuck’s co-founder and CEO. “Our goal was to do more than shrink our home search site and put it on your phone. We wanted to create the best possible mobile tool for homebuyers—to really take advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities. I think we’ve done just that, and we’re really excited to get it in people’s hands.”

Currently, the Sawbuck app includes listings in markets served by Sawbuck:

    * Baltimore
* Boston
* Chicago
* Dallas/Fort Worth
* Houston
* Inland Empire
* Los Angeles
* Phoenix
* Philadelphia
* Providence
* San Diego
* San Francisco Bay Area
* Washington, D.C. metro area

The Sawbuck app is free to download in Apple’s App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch at itunes.com/apps/sawbuckrealestate. For a video demonstrating key features of the Sawbuck app and for screenshots, visit www.sawbuck.com/iphone.

DETROIT, Jan. 20, 2011 — A special-edition Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will serve as the official pace car of the 2011 Indianapolis 500. Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials made the announcement at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale classic auto auction, where a bidder will have the opportunity to purchase the first of 50 Indianapolis 500 Festival Committee cars.

The 2011 Camaro Convertible is the 22nd Chevrolet chosen to pace “The Greatest Spectacle In Racing®” and the seventh Camaro. Adding to the rich heritage is the fact that 2011 will mark the 100th anniversary of the first Indianapolis 500, as well as the centennial year of Chevrolet.

Chevrolet will donate full proceeds of the auction to the David Foster Foundation, a charity devoted to supporting families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. David Foster, the 15-time Grammy-winning music producer and songwriter, founded the organization in his native Canada.

The pace car, along with the matching festival cars, features a Summit White exterior accented with orange stripes and door graphics. The interior is trimmed in orange leather, including front seat headrests embossed with the Indy 500 logo, along with white door panels and instrument panel trim. The instrument panel trim features extensions of the orange exterior stripes.

The color combination is similar to the design used on the 1969 Camaro Indy pace car — replicas of which have become among the most popular Camaros in the collector world.

“It’s an honor for Chevrolet to pace the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500, especially during this landmark year,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “This is also a great opportunity for us to build on Camaro’s strong momentum, while supporting an important charity.”

The auction for the commemorative edition pace car takes place Saturday evening, Jan. 22, during SPEED’s live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson event. The vehicle carries lot number 1284 and bids can be submitted at the auction in person or online by clicking this link for a 2011 absentee bidder registration packet:

“The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Chevrolet name have long been associated with one another beginning with Arthur, Louis and Gaston Chevrolet’s participation as competitors in the Indianapolis 500,” said Indianapolis Motor Speedway President and CEO Jeff Belskus. “It is fitting in this 100th year for both brands that we reinforce that relationship through this year’s Camaro pace car, which resembles what many argue is the most famous pace car in IMS history, the 1969 Camaro. We are looking forward to seeing this car on track, pacing the greatest 33 drivers in the world on May 29.”

Pace car details

Equipped with a 400-horsepower (298 kW) V-8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, the actual pace car for the race requires no performance modifications to perform its duty in front of the racing field.

All 50 of the Festival Committees cars will be SS convertible models fitted with the 2SS equipment package, offering the following standard features:

    * Four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo four-piston calipers and hydraulic assist
* StabiliTrak electronic stability control
* Competitive/sport mode that enhances on-track performance
* Performance Launch Control (with the manual transmission) that optimizes hard-acceleration launches for quicker, more consistent performance
* Twenty-inch polished aluminum wheels and performance tires
* Head-up instrument display
* Center console with auxiliary gauge package

Along with the 2SS equipment, the cars feature the RS package, which includes HID headlamps and unique tail lamps.

Convertible refinement

The Camaro Convertible delivers coupe-like driving dynamics, with the unmatched fun of open air driving. The Convertible model contains an enhanced structure designed to eliminate the traditional compromises of open cars, such as cowl or steering wheel shake. The goal is a convertible that drives like the coupe. All the powertrain and suspension elements of the existing Camaro Coupe carry over unchanged in the convertible. The top has a smooth, tailored fit, with acoustical foam in the headliner that helps deliver a quiet ride with the top up.

Four strategic reinforcements enhance the already-stiff body structure to eliminate common convertible maladies of cowl and steering wheel shake. They include:

    * A tower-to-tower brace under the hood
* A transmission support reinforcement brace
* Underbody tunnel brace
* Front and rear underbody “V” braces

The power-folding top retracts in about 20 seconds. It is built in partnership with the same manufacturer as the Corvette convertible top, and operates in a similar manner. That means it folds in a simple “Z” pattern and latches with a single, convenient handle located at the center of the windshield header. Other convertible models in this segment still offer convertible tops with dual latches, forcing drivers into two-hand operations reaching across the car.

The regular-production versions of the 2011 Camaro Convertible will begin arriving in Chevrolet dealerships in February, opening a new chapter in the Camaro’s ongoing 21st century rebirth. Even before the introduction of a convertible model, Camaro ended 2010 as the sales leader in its class in the United States for the first time since 1985.

Chevrolet’s pace car heritage

Louis Chevrolet, who founded the brand with William “Billy” Durant in 1911, was a racer, mechanic and pioneering engineer. He raced in the early years of the Indianapolis 500, which also started in 1911, and served a luminary of the event in the years after he retired his racing helmet. That included driving the official Indianapolis pace car, which was developed by Indy 500 founder Carl Fisher, who believed a rolling start was safer than a standing start. The first Indianapolis 500 featured a pace car driven by Fisher.

The first Chevrolet selected as the Indianapolis 500 pace car was the 1948 Fleetmaster Six. The brand would go on to lead the racing pack more than any other manufacturer. The list of Chevy pace cars includes:

    * 1948 Fleetmaster Six
* 1955 Bel Air
* 1967 Camaro
* 1969 Camaro
* 1978 Corvette
* 1982 Camaro
* 1986 Corvette
* 1990 Beretta
* 1993 Camaro
* 1995 Corvette
* 1998 Corvette
* 1999 Monte Carlo
* 2002 Corvette
* 2003 SSR
* 2004 Corvette
* 2005 Corvette
* 2006 Corvette
* 2007 Corvette
* 2008 Corvette
* 2009 Camaro
* 2010 Camaro
* 2011 Camaro

Junior Achievement Rings In New Digital Program Strategy at NASDAQ Closing Bell Ceremony Junior Achievement USA™ will ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square on January 19 and announce a new digital Program Strategy, which will provide a blueprint for relevant, responsive, and innovative programs that build young people’s capacity to spur economic development and contribute to America’s global economic competitiveness. Colorado Springs, Colo. (PRWEB) January 18, 2011 Tomorrow, at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square, Junior Achievement USA™(JA) will ring the closing bell and unveil its new Digital Program Strategy, which will provide a blueprint for relevant, responsive, and innovative programs that build young people’s capacity to spur economic development and contribute to America’s global economic competitiveness. Junior Achievement’s K-12 programs use experiential learning to empower young people to own their economic success. JA programs focus on three content areas that develop and reinforce the knowledge, skills, and attitudes young people need for post-secondary education and career success: work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The Digital Program Strategy was created with input from a task force comprised of representatives from 16 organizations across the academic, tech, government, nonprofit and corporate sectors, uniting competitors such as Apple and Microsoft in the purpose of inspiring and preparing young people for success in a global economy. It aims to enhance the use of technology in Junior Achievement’s program development and delivery, with a goal of driving systemic change in K-12 work-readiness education. Junior Achievement’s Digital Strategy Task Force made 10 recommendations, including: Leverage existing social ne

    * Leverage existing social networking platforms to foster networking and collaboration among JA students
* Create multiple options for volunteer engagement in the delivery of JA programs
* Provide program content in a variety of digital formats to provide educators and volunteers with a suite of options

Robert Reeg, MasterCard Worldwide’s president of Global Technology and Operations, and a Digital Strategy Task Force member, noted, “Junior Achievement is extremely effective at preparing young people for the workforce. Leveraging technology and social media to share this information with students allows us to extend JA’s reach beyond the traditional classroom setting. This opens up some very exciting opportunities for innovation and sharing of best practices between educators and students, including working as members of international learning teams, which positions students even more strongly to be successful in the global workforce.”

An example around how Junior Achievement is infusing technology into students’ learning experiences is its recent Virtual Job Shadow event. Using Cisco’s TelePresence technology, JA Worldwide Chairman Ralph de la Vega, president and chief executive officer of AT&T’s Mobility and Consumer Markets, spoke to JA students in eight cities in the U.S. and Mexico about the importance of staying in school and about how mentoring opportunities, such as JA Job Shadow®, can help them succeed in the world of work.

Jack E. Kosakowski, president and chief executive officer of Junior Achievement USA, added, “As the largest electronic stock market, NASDAQ’s closing ceremony is the perfect platform from which to launch Junior Achievement’s Digital Program Strategy. We look forward to expanding JA’s scope both in terms of student reach and volunteer engagement, with compelling and relevant programs incorporating digital technology.”

Read about Junior Achievement’s Digital Strategy here. NASDAQ closing ceremonies can be viewed here.

Junior Achievement’s Digital Strategy Task Force members include:

Ely, England, 20 January 2011 – Many business leaders in the UK remain uncertain about the real risk of cyber attack on their business. They understand the global and national threats, but associate these attacks and the defence against them as being about the activities of terrorists and nation states.

Organisations of all sizes, though, are at risk: cyber attacks are automated and indiscriminate – the websites and Internet communications of small organisations can be affected by the side-effects of a cyber attack focused on a larger organisation. And, of course, as cyber crime wins more dramatic headlines, so more people feel encouraged to ‘give it a go’ – by releasing viruses onto their own work networks, removing confidential information, or just using their office network to try out an attack on some third party.

While the UK government, through the newly-formed Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA), will be providing significant resources to protect national assets, it is the responsibility of individual companies to protect their own assets and sensitive information against the disparate range of potential threats to their day-to-day business.

IT Governance Ltd – always at the forefront of the fight to help clients protect their confidential information and critical business operations – will be adding additional resources to their information security and business continuity toolkits to make cyber security and business resilience even more affordable for their customers. Two February training courses will also be available at a reduced price if booked during January.

“While ‘cyber attack’ sounds like a Hollywood film, the threat is real for most businesses. The good news is that the best defence against this sort of hi-tech attack is relatively mundane and can be encompassed by good, basic information security management practices. Use the international best practice standard, ISO27001, to guide your efforts in identifying critical information assets and putting in place controls appropriate to identified risks. Have Internet-facing IP addresses and websites tested for technical vulnerabilities. These two steps will put any organisation in a strong position to remain aloof from the cyber maelstrom,” comments Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance Ltd.

“In fact, have a penetration test of your Internet-facing resources first, as this is your greatest exposure, and then put in place managed systems for information security and business continuity. We have added resources to our best-selling toolkits to make them even more useful – and have reduced the price of our unique penetration testing packages to make them easily affordable.”

“Organisations should take immediate action to prepare themselves for the new information insecurity world.”

Find out more and take advantage of these offers:

We just read over at Engadget that the Nexus One now has a scheduled Android 2.2 Froyo update, yet again. We just had a software update for the Google Nexus One this week but Google now is releasing another one. This one’s rumored to be only a security update so it’s nothing big.

The update hasn’t notified Nexus One users yet, at least not the people who are closely following tech or gadget news sites because they’ll surely know from there.

The new build is said to be FRF91. We’ll have updates as soon as we get it up.

Apple just admitted that there is indeed a problem with the new iPhone 4 but its not what everyone was expecting. Apple said that the problem is in their software and how it calculates signal strength and displays it. You can read part of Apple press statement below.

Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength. For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.

    To fix this, we are adopting AT&T’s recently recommended formula for calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength. The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area. We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.

    We will issue a free software update within a few weeks that incorporates the corrected formula. Since this mistake has been present since the original iPhone, this software update will also be available for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.

Now, that’s assuring to hear but that doesn’t ignore the fact that the new iPhone did indeed have a problem and they did make a mistake. Well, I hope the solution to this one wouldn’t be a very big hassle because customers are starting to get a little annoyed about this whole thing.

We’ve heard from respected tech news sites that a rep of Apple has already commented on the recent Steve Jobs email issue. If you haven’t heard, the tech world came abuzz after alleged emails of Jobs bashing and saying to an iPhone 4 owner that ‘it’s just a phone’ were reported. The representative from Apple said that the story is totally untrue.

I know most of you have been thinking the same thing. We all know how easy it is to make up an email so I think everyone took it with a grain of salt. It’s also non-characteristic of a company’s head to say something like that to customers and that why would he need to reply to the comments personally. He does have thousands working for him and he can ask any one of those to answer the furious customer.

Proud Filipina Singing Sensation Charice Pempengco will play a very important role to the historical 15th President Inauguration of President Elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to sing the Philippine National Anthem. Just arriving a few hours ago from the U.S. to do her historical performance and will be staying here just for 3 days then will head back again to the U.S. for her Red Hot & Boom in Orlando, Florida. She’ll start shooting for the TV series on July 28, 2010 for the Glee season 2 new cast member. She also said that she will start her training in Broadway.

“Very proud” very proud to be part of the historic event. “syempre sobrang proud na maging part ng history (of course I am very proud to be part of history). Charice said on a phone interview.

Together with Charice to sing the Philippine national Anthem are Madrigal Singers and to be conducted by Mr. Ryan Cayabyab which makes her doubly proud and excited in the event. The Inauguration singing will take place in Quirino Grandstand.

Charice and her mother, Raquel Pempengco, flew home from the United States just for the occasion. They arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 103 from Los Angeles, California at 7 a.m. She attended a practice session in the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Charice will stay in Manila Hotel for the Inauguration event.

It is not her first time to be part of such historical important event. If you will recall the 18-year-old “Pyramid” singer also performed at one of US President Barack Obama’s pre-inauguration balls.

I know we’ve all seen the new Nintendo 3DS and I know a lot of people are now dying to get their hands on it. This new device from Nintendo is really superb as it also boasts a 3D depth slider on the side and a round nub analog stick called the “Slide Pad” by Nintendo themselves and it also has a motion sensor and a gyroscope. [just like the new Apple iPhone 4 (4G)]

The new Nintendo 3DS aside from having a glass-free 3D screen it also has two cameras that you can use to do ‘3D picture taking’. [Weird thing to say .. or type] One camera is on the top of the screen facing the user and it also has one behind.

Backward compatibility is also not a problem as the Nintendo 3DS will also play old Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games. This new device comes in three different colors schemes: black and blue, black and grey or the black and red version.

Nintendo didn’t include an announcement on when the new device will be available for the public but some people are saying that it is possibly due on a March 2011 release date. We will confirm that in a while.. and because there is no release date yet, we also don’t have the pre-ordering schedule of the new handheld device.
