After the Diwali Dash, OnePlus is now hosting a December Dash sale. The OnePlus December Dash Sale will be held all through the month, and registered users stand a chance to purchase the newly released OnePlus 3T for just Re. 1 from the company's online store.

The OnePlus December Dash Sale sale will be conducted on December 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 12pm to 6pm IST on the online store. Through this Dash sale, users stand a chance to buy the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus accessories, cases, covers, and other products for just Re. 1. To register, the user must get their OnePlus account ready, verify their mobile number, and fill in address and card details. It is also mandatory to share the event to their respective social channels thereafter to complete their registration process.

Registered users then earn points for every person who signs up through their share link. To earn a OnePlus 3T 128GB, the user must earn as many as 300 points. Once these points are earned, and the OnePlus 3T smartphone is claimed, the user must checkout by paying Re. 1 within three hours. Post the stipulated time frame; the OnePlus 3T unit will be removed from the user's cart.

OnePlus is also conducting a weekly prize draw where all registered users stand a chance to win a free OnePlus 3T 64GB variant. The winner will be chosen randomly by OnePlus every Saturday for the month of December, and the winner will be intimated by email. For December Dash registrations, head to the company's dedicated webpage.
The new OnePlus 3T is priced at Rs. 29,999 for the 64GB inbuilt storage model, and Rs. 34,999 for the 128GB storage model, and will be sold exclusively on Amazon India starting December 14.

ZFS (Zettabyte FileSystem) is a file system designed by Sun Microsystems for the Solaris Operating System. ZFS is a 128-bit file system, so it can address 18 billion billion times more data than the 64-bit systems ZFS is implemented as open-source filesystem, licensed under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL).
The features of ZFS include support for high storage capacities, integration of the concepts of file system and volume management, snapshots and copy-on-write clones, continuous integrity checking and automatic repair, RAID-Z etc. Additionally, Solaris ZFS implements intelligent prefetch, performing read ahead for sequential data streaming, and can adapt its read behavior on the fly for more complex access patterns. To eliminate bottlenecks and increase the speed of both reads and writes, ZFS stripes data across all available storage devices, balancing I/O and maximizing throughput. And, as disks are added to the storage pool, Solaris ZFS immediately begins to allocate blocks from those devices, increasing effective bandwidth as each device is added. This means system administrators no longer need to monitor storage devices to see if they are causing I/O bottlenecks.

Word Sense Disambiguation

Words have different meanings based on the context of the word usage in a sentence. Word sense is one of the meanings of a word. Human language is ambiguous, so that many words can be interpreted in multiple ways depending on the context in which they occur. Word sense disambiguation (WSD) is the ability to identify the meaning of words in context in a computational manner. WSD is considered an AIcomplete problem, that is, a task whose solution is at least as hard as the most difficult problems in artificial intelligence.

WSD can be viewed as a classification task: word senses are the classes, and an automatic classification method is used to assign each occurrence of a word to one or more classes based on the evidence from the context and from external knowledge sources. WSD heavily relies on knowledge. Knowledge sources provide data which are essential to associate senses with words. The assessment of WSD systems is discussed in the context of the Senseval/Semeval campaigns, aiming at the objective evaluation of systems participating in several different disambiguation tasks. Here, some of the knowledge sources used in WSD, different approaches for WSD (supervised, unsupervised and Knowledge-based ) and evaluation of WSD systems are discussed. The applications of WSD are also seen.

Wine

Wine makes it possible to run Windows programs alongside any Unix-like operating system, particularly Linux. At its heart, Wine is an implementation of the Windows Application Programming Interface (API) library, acting as a bridge between the Windows program and Linux. Think of Wine as a compatibility layer, when a Windows program tries to perform a function that Linux doesn't normally understand, Wine will translate that program's instruction into one supported by the system. For example, if a program asks the system to create a Windows pushbutton or text-edit field, Wine will convert that instruction into its Linux equivalent in the form of a command to the window manager using the standard X11 protocol.

Wine is often used as a recursive acronym, standing for "Wine Is Not an Emulator". Sometimes it is also known to be used for "Windows Emulator" (An emulator duplicates (provides an emulation of) the functions of one system using a different system, so that the second system behaves like (and appears to be) the first system.). In a way, both meanings are correct, only seen from different perspectives. The first meaning says that Wine is not a virtual machine, it does not emulate a CPU, and you are not supposed to install Windows nor any Windows device drivers on top of it; rather, Wine is an implementation of the Windows API, and can be used as a library to port Windows applications to UNIX. The second meaning, obviously, is that to Windows binaries (.exe files), Wine does look like Windows, and emulates its behaviour and quirks rather closely.

Virtual Retinal Display

The Virtual Retinal Display (VRD) is a personal display device under development at the University of Washington's Human Interface Technology Laboratory in Seattle, Washington USA. The VRD scans light directly onto the viewer's retina. The viewer perceives a wide field of view image. Because the VRD scans light directly on the retina, the VRD is not a screen based technology.

The VRD was invented at the University of Washington in the Human Interface Technology Lab (HIT) in 1991. The development began in November 1993. The aim was to produce a full color, wide field-of-view, high resolution, high brightness, low cost virtual display. Microvision Inc. has the exclusive license to commercialize the VRD technology. This technology has many potential applications, from head-mounted displays (HMDs) for military/aerospace applications to medical society.

The VRD projects a modulated beam of light (from an electronic source) directly onto the retina of the eye producing a rasterized image. The viewer has the illusion of seeing the source image as if he/she stands two feet away in front of a 14-inch monitor. In reality, the image is on the retina of its eye and not on a screen. The quality of the image he/she sees is excellent with stereo view, full color, wide field of view, no flickering characteristics.
