Description: A great concept by Norman Lewis. This book is excellently written for improvement of vocabulary and grammar. The mechanism of the book is the easiest of all that one can find.
The book is divided parts, each part is divided into chapters and each chapter is divided into sessions. Now, each chapter begins with a session containing 10 basic words with detailed explanations for easy memorization. After you memorize the 10 words, you proceed to the next sessions of the chapter in which the 10 words are broken down into the root words. Now, from each root word, number of other words which are built on the same root word are explained briefly and clearly. So, this mechanism allows you to memorize more than 100 words from 10 basic words.
Further, the book has ”Review” and ”Test Your Learning” sessions through which you can never forget the words you have learnt.
Further, the book is written in so simple language that even a child can read it very easily.
The book is easy to avail and is much cheaper than any other books of the similiar category.

Definition and Introduction :

Technical writing is writing on a specific subject, for a specific purpose, to a specific audience. Technical writing is usually done to construct a bridge between people who know technology and people who use it. They learn and understand complications of technology and put it in a simple words that will help the user to understand and use technology.

Technical writing is a way of analyzing, generating and managing information about various products and technical procedures to be used in the generation of technical documentation.

History :

Technical writing is existing from centuries. It is not at all new field. Only the difference is that because of advance technology and new ways of marketing, business deals, in late 90’s way of Technical writing has changed and it also got importance. Previously Technical writing was done by one or two persons but now group of people or team is being appointed by companies or industries.

Technical writer :

The very first thing for Technical writer is to recognize, understand target audience. Then he has to gather information from various sources related to technology and put it in a simple way so that audience or user will easily understand it.

When writer is writing memo then he expects action, when he write instructions he expects others to follow it. So main aim of technical writer is to understand audience’s need.

Training required for Technical writing :

There are many colleges providing Technical writing courses and online programs are also available. Some private institutes also runs courses on Technical writing. Science and Arts are two different fields. But Technical writer should have knowledge of both. He needs science as there is methodology of writing Technical Articles, Reports & Arts is useful for powerful language. Good Technical writing should be free of jargon and easy to understand for intended people.

One who wishes to be Technical writer should be good teacher. He should be very clear with his ideas. He must have good interpersonal and communication skills as he has to interact and gather or provide information to users, marketers, programmers. He should have thorough knowledge of technology about which he is going to write and language in which he is going to write.
