This new device uses an encoding technique to calculate the distance a signal has traveled. The new method allows the camera to encode information within no time. The data which is sent back can be easily calculated to estimate the different distances from one single signal. This new nano camera has an option of unsmeared images (if images are blurred due to a jittery hand, it can be unsmeared to produce a sharper picture).

The super-fast, affordable camera is currently under development at MIT and is all set to improve everything from video game experiences to driving safety.  Researchers at a recent tech convention reported that this new technology is quiet similar to a high-speed ‘femto camera’ developed at MIT, which can capture objects at a trillion frames per second. Raskar’s group unveiled the trillion-frame-per-second camera in 2011, which was capable of capturing a single pulse of light that travelled through a scene. The camera uses fast but expensive laboratory-grade optical equipment to create an image each time. This “femto-camera” costs around $500,000 to build and the researches came up with the ‘nano camera’. The camera is anticipated to be used in motion-sensing application, which is similar to the new version of Microsoft’s Kinect video game controller.

In contrast with this, the new “nano-camera” works with a continuous-wave signal that oscillates at nanosecond periods, which allows the team to use inexpensive hardware. By solving the multipath problem, unmixing the light paths and visualizing the light moving across the scene, the New Zealand team has offered the same results as the $5,00,000 camera, but with a slightly lower quality for just $500. The Researches of MIT Media Lab have developed this nano camera to capture translucent objects in 3D.

Twenty-seven per cent of the tweens have been subjected to hurtful posts on social networking sites and only half of them have confided in their parents. Thirty-six per cent of the children have chatted with strangers. A survey conducted earlier this year showed a horrifying number of 700 teenagers who met strangers they came to know on the social media.

The Central Board of Secondary Education is said to be drafting a cyber safety policy for schools. Right now the schools are addressing this issue by blocking certain websites. The tweens do not have any account security as well! 25% of the children have their names as the password to their accounts, 27 per cent of them have their birthdays.

McAfee’s survey showed 572 male and 428 female respondents aged between 8 and 12 years who were residing in cities like, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Hyderabad. This survey conducted among the tweens reveals interesting evidence of internet usage from different gadgets.  Around 90% of them play games regularly, 76% of them access the internet through PC or Laptop, 68% of the tweens use mobile devices to access the net, 63 % of them use the tablets for chatting with friends. How are they accessing it?

How to Hide Your Friends List on Facebook

Follow these simple steps to hide your friends list on Facebook.

Step 1: Login to your Facebook Account and click on Privacy Settings at the top left menu.

Step 2: You will be redirected to Privacy Settings and Tools page, where you need to click on the Use Activity to enter the advance settings.

Step 3: Now check the Activity Log and Click on More to open the Friends log.

Step 4: Click on Friends tab, and click on Who can see your friends list? on top.

Step 5: Click on “Only me” Option as seen in the above screenshot. This sets a privacy lock to your friends list, where no one else in Facebook could ever see your friends list.
