<title>EPISODE 361 – A Look Ahead and Flashback!</title>
<description>This week on TechtalkRadio, Justin and Shawn are out, and host Andy Taylor speaks with James Czerniawski, who holds the position of Senior Tech and Innovation Policy Analyst at Americans for Prosperity and serves as a commentator for Young-Voices. James has written extensively on various topics such as Section 230, antitrust, commercial drones, and Spencer Cox - The Governor of Utah's recent bill proposing time limits and a digital curfew for minors. In the interview, James shares his insights on this legislation and its potential for adoption in other states.

Andy recently stumbled upon a treasure trove of old TechtalkRadio Show Interviews from the time when the show was known as Techtalk with Mike and Andy in the Coachella Valley at Palm Springs. Among these archived interviews are some real gems, and Andy is excited to share a few of them with the audience. The first interview he wants to shareis with Ben Sawyer, who visited the show in 1999 to discuss his book "MP3 Power", which he co-wrote with Dave Greely and Justin Frankel, The Creator of Winamp. The book delved into the increasing use of MP3 technology and the benefits of audio compression. During the interview, the hosts also talked about Justin's creation of Winamp and Shoutcast for streaming audio content. Justin's inspiration for creating Shoutcast was his love for the KROQ Loveline Radio Show and his desire to hear it beyond the confines of LA radio. The follow-up book, "Online Broadcasting Power", even gave a nod to TechtalkRadio, as fellow host Bill Grace would stream the show across the country, making it the first in the Coachella Valley to do so.

In addition, Andy shares an interview with Michael Giacchino, a prolific music composer known for his work on popular TV shows such as LOST, numerous blockbuster movies, and several beloved video games. During the interview, Michael gives insights into his creative process and even shares anecdotes about meeting legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. This week's episode of TechtalkRadio is full of engaging conversations and enjoyable flashbacks.

<title>EPISODE 359 – Everything Everywhere All Too Quick</title>
<description>This week on TechtalkRadio, Andy and Shawn explore some tech gadget ideas for kids as Shawn's Son approaches his first birthday, including a not very traditional Roku Remote without batteries that Shawn found to be a fun toy. Shawn also discusses his experience with the Endor 3 3D Printer and how he used it to create useful items for his home, such as a baby gate designed from Thingiverse. Additionally, he shares his thoughts on the new Wyze Wireless Gaming Headset, highlighting both its pros and cons. Andy also weighs in on the discussion, sharing his preferred headphones for work and gaming, including the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and SteelSeries Arctis 7. Finally, they touch on the exciting new partnership between Roku and Wyze, which includes the integration of Wyze cameras into the Roku platform.

Andy discusses his recent news segments on the dangers of text spam, email scams, and the emerging threat of voice AI, which could be used to capture voice prints and scam people in your social circle. He also shares his experience with Voice.AI, one of the best voices deepfake sites he's come across, and even surprises Shawn with a demo of one of the voices he created. While the service can be pricy, it certainly has its fun uses however could also have risks associated with it. Andy also shares a frustrating experience with BingChatAI, which ended a chat with him because it felt he was being confrontational when he was just trying to provide accurate information about TechtalkRadio.

CEO of RAXCO Software, Bob Nolan, joins Andy Taylor to discuss the company's history and offerings. With roots dating back to 1978, RAXCO Software began as a provider of system management tools and has since evolved to offer a range of solutions, including server management, system backups, and quick restoration options. Bob and Andy also discuss the importance of these solutions in the context of recent ransomware attacks, such as the one experienced by the Tucson Unified School District earlier this year. Specifically, they delve into RAXCO's Instant Recovery technology and how it has helped organizations recover from such attacks.

Shawn shares the Cool Website of the Week, WebSDR.org for those wanting to check out Amateur Radio Cast around the World.

Shawn covers some of the areas according to reports that were affected. Even with the issues LastPass has been seeing, the guys talk about the importance of Password Managers and how they should be implemented. <title>EPISODE 356 – My Camera Shared What!? </title>
<description>For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy and Shawn talk about the latest announcement from Wyze with its OG Camera. Shawn picked one up for right around 20 bucks and talks about how the camera line has evolved over the years to present and how easy they are to set up. Microsoft has announced that they are going to stop the sales of the Download of Microsoft Windows 10 on January 31st for those to build a new system or update however as Andy says, the Windows 10 update at record time could still be found on the Microsoft Website. Shawn notes that support for Windows 7 and 8.1 ended January 10. What was recently polled as the best video game of all time? We were surprised at the results, FIFA sports.

Inventor of the Leap Pad Jim Marggraff visits the show to talk about the creation back in 1999 of the Leap Pad and how the thought came to create this paper-based multimedia. Jim tells us about connecting with grandchildren and keeping in touch with them using technology. The idea goes beyond sitting in front of them in a face time call, it’s about making the connection. Jim tells us about his new venture, Kinoo Magic Wand which utilizes screen sharing and books along with fun characters on screen during this "Video Call" to engage the child, and of course the grandparent! We also learn of the collaboration with Highlights Magazine for continued content for learning and fun. For more info on the Kinoo Magic Wand look at https://www.kinoo.com

We visit the Netherlands, via the net, and talk with Adrianus Warmenhoven, a Cyber Security Advisor at NordVPN about staying protect when connecting our security cameras around the home. A recent article from Daniel Markuson of NordVPN highlights how some may be streaming their home life online without realizing it. Adrianus tells us about some of the settings which should be configured and how the company NordVPN can add a layer of protection in this and other connections on the web.

Shawn talks about some recent TikTok trends regarding the theft of vehicles and a recent article about Forbes reporters that were not to happy with a story around their privacy and TikTok. That article on the Forbes Website

<title>EPISODE 355 – Don't Leave Home Without It! </title>
<description>In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy talks with Justin about the early computers they had and how far the technology of personal computers has come along. Andy tells us about a repair on the Dell 7779 Inspiron which had him frustrated at all the steps just to replace the keyboard. After the complete overhaul, Andy ran into Bitlocker which was enabled however the owner of the laptop did not have the recovery key. A few changes in the Bios enabled this to be bypassed but it was on pins and needles to get to that point. Justin tells us about a problem with his Pixel Watch and a crack that appeared on it and the problems he ran into getting it fixed, it can't be! Luckily, he purchased with American Express, Justin tells us why! Rick leaves us a comment on our Facebook Page about getting a Secret Labs chair after Justin had mentioned it and how Rick feels about it.
Friend of the Show Mitch Goldstone of ScanMyPhotos.com talks with Andy about preserving photos and film and how they can turn around scanning in one day in most instances with one day scanning and how they provide the expert touch on Slide Carousels and Super 8MM film which digitizes individuals frames. Mitch also shares a warning for those with VHS tapes and another reason they should be preserved. Mitch was able to attend CES2023 and tells us about the show including what the United States Post Office is doing to energize Postage Stamps.
Andy talks with Dijam Panigrahi, Co-Founder of AR/VR GridRaster on the hopes that Apple was going to be more involved in AR/VR. The discussion on Augmented Reality focuses on how companies will employ this technology in the future and where the industry is now. GridRaster works to develop the solutions for companies large and small and Dijam tells us about the importance in design. What is the biggest challenges facing further Development of AR/VR is discussed.
Justin takes a Quiz from Andy's latest game he is playing on Mobile, Trivia Star which Justin nails. Justin tells us about the Website earthclock.cwandt

<title>EPISODE 351 – Ripping the Band-Aid Off, Time to Upgrade!</title>
<description>In this Weeks Show Justin, Shawn and Andy start the show talking about Shawn getting ready to install his Synology NAS System. Shawn is testing drives he purchased with HD Tune Pro which can tell how long a drive has been in use and other useful info. Justin tells us why Synology is much more then just extending storage on the system but can also be used to run a multitude of services such as Docker which can then run PiHole, DNS Blackhole, Minecraft Server, Virtual Machines and more including his Plex Server which can always run under the Synology. The guys talk about Plex and how the service has grown over the years. Shawn and Justin both did the lifetime sub for Plex, and the guys recommend this as a way to go. Cord Cutters can use HD Homerun for recording Over the Air Television and use it like a DVR and can be served over the Plex Server. The newest product from Silicon Dust is the HD Homerun 4K. Justin explains why OTA delivers a better picture then Cable. Shawn tells us about the Latest Time lapse, and it included some snow! We learn a bit on how he creates these great looking Time Lapse creations and some software to help called LRTimeLapse which Shawn feels is one of the best.
Justin reminds us about data collection and how we are the product and why your browser will feed you ads based on information you searched for. With this info, Justin shares info on Network Chuck and how he explains how you could create your own Search Engine using SearxNG. Justin recommends NotGoogle.live created by Network Chuck. Andy talks about migrating a Windows 10 system with corruption in Windows which was preventing Windows Update from completing. Users purchased a new system with Windows 11. Rather than reinstall all the programs and must relink the Database to network drives, reconnect printers, Andy purchased Laplink PCMoverProfessional and while the time to do was about 5 hours it worked flawlessly! The crew talks about some of the many different versions of Windows over the years and what they liked while Andy has been banned from talking about Windows 8. Shawn lets us know that Windows 8.1 support is ending January 10th, 2023. Shawn and Justin talks about making the move for listeners to Upgrade while Shawn also decides to try doing an install of Windows 8.1 to see if it was really as bad as a lot said. Shawn, Justin and Andy talk about Cyber Monday and each shares a tip to be safe shopping online.
Justin talks about getting back into Cyberpunk2077 from CDProjekt Red and how much better the title has gotten since its first release and why.

<title>EPISODE 338: Never Bet Against a Sneeze </title>
<description>In this week’s show, Justin and Andy kick off the show with a discussion of what has been happening lately with Crypto. Visiting the show is an outspoken member of the popular Facebook group, Crypto Coin Trader, Oniel. Oniel gives us a rundown of what is trending with digital currency and its recent dip in value. Oniel talks about the reasons to question everything and why sometimes in the crypto space this is not popular. When it comes to Bitcoin itself, Oniel doesn't feel this should be the focus on digital with so many good alt choices available.
Oniel also says the Federal Reserve needs to stop increasing the basis point. Be sure to check out the Facebook group, Crypto Coin Trader.

Andy has finally finished his build and the process for a fresh install on a new system and reinstalling is never fun. Andy did find a program he found useful including Acronis Disk Director and will also be installing Wirecast so we can start Video Casting the Show. With Shawn having his son in his arms during the show, the guys talk about the rights of a child when it comes to parents sharing photos and video of their child. It brings about a good time to think about how much we share online of our children and our lives and guidelines parents need to set for other family members in what could be shared.

Andy runs out of USB Ports and purchases two options, a USB 3.0 HUB from Sabrent and an internal 3.2Gps PCI Express Card. Justin’s water heater in his house goes on the fritz and he is forced to buy a new one. He looks at a Whole Home Hot Water Recirculation unit and chooses the Navien which runs around 14k! Justin talks about the technology behind it. Andy shares a website for playing a fun game right on the Desktop goldddigger.frvr.com

<itunes:subtitle>EPISODE 338: Never Bet Against a Sneeze</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>In this week’s show, Justin and Andy kick off the show with a discussion of what has been happening lately with Crypto.

Andy jumps on to the new App BeReal and talks about what it is and how it is different from other Social Photo Sharing Apps. We found out what drove him to begin the company which has saved data from failed hard drives for years.Five Star Data Recovery has a great reputation for its services and support in this lucrative field and shares the personal rewards of recovering client data. Vahan tells us the differences in the processes to recover data from logical to mechanical failures. While SSD technology is fantastic, when it comes to your Data, in case of failure, having a traditional "Spinny" drive is much better. What should you do when your drive is clicking or beeping? Great tips shared from Vahan.

Shawn shares info out of the recent National Association of Broadcasters Convention and the NDI Technology for Broadcasting Video.

<title>EPISODE 336: Is Bigger Always Better </title>
<description>In this week’s show, Shawn and Andy talk about how Shawn is working Technology into him now being a new parent. We cover some of the recent news from Wyze and address a question from one of the TechtalkRadio listeners wanting to know the story behind Wyze Cam V1. The Company just put out a new Wyze Air Purifier. Shawn says one of the keys is to ask other parents you know which technology works for them, As far as Baby Monitor, Shawn has the Infant Optics Baby Monitor.

Shawn gets the opportunity to upgrade his Graphics card to the very hard to find 30 Series Nvidia Graphics based Card. Shawn tells us about the jump from a 1050 to a 3060 Series at around $350. Andy recently purchased a Samsung Odyssey CRG9 Monitor to replace his two 27-inch monitors on his desktop. The Experience unfortunately wasn't the greatest after returning one of them then getting another also defective. Lots of Time and fuel spent he decided to give up and stick with the 2 27' monitors for now. Andy does like what he was able to experience in the look and desktop feel and more than likely will give it another shot.

Coming out April 20th, Postal 4 - No Regerts will be available on Steam. The Creator of the original Postal, Running with Scissors is based in Tucson. Friend of the Show and the man behind Running with Scissors Vince Desi talked with Andy about the new Release, background of the game and Selectable voices with friends Rick Hunter and Corey Cruise and Jon St. John. Vince tells us about the differences between Postal and now Postal 4 No Regerts. Shawn shares the Website of the Week https://www.cpuid.com

<title>EPISODE 335: Monitor Confusion </title>
<description>For this week’s show, Andy Taylor and Justin Lemme host the Show as Shawn is adjusting to being a new parent! Congrats to Shawn and Kailyn! Andy has decided to take a look at a new trend in replacing a double monitor situation and opting for a Ultra-Wide. There are several manufacturers on the market from Asus to Dell to Scepter and Samsung. Andy reached out to Samsung to see if he could get a look at one for the TV Segment on KMSB Fox 11 yet deciding which to look at was number one and finally Samsung had no inventory available. There are a handful of different ones available each having different features as Andy has decided this may be a great solution to purchase. Justin and Andy talk about the differences between 1080 and 1440, 120hz and 144hz to 240hz. Also, some have commented in Product Chats that while the Curve of the 49" screen is great, the Dimensions from top to bottoms are small then a standard 27" on the desktop, depending on the manufacturer. What are some other considerations with gaming on these larger screens? We tackle some of these questions.

Justin gets himself the new Asus Router, upgrading from a Juniper Switch and shares what he loves about it and some of what he isn't overly happy with. Andy takes on a Digital Conversion process and talks about the Victrola 7 in 1 Turntable which has some great features and a USB Connection for
recording onto a PC or Mac. The guy’s wax poetic on the Technics 1200 which was a mainstay in nightclubs and mobile DJs for many years.

Returning to the show is CPA and Intuit TurboTax Expert Lisa Green-Lewis to discuss the Latest with the new version of TurboTax and TurboTax Online. What are some of the new items to consider with this year’s filings and to prepare for next years?

Justin tells us about the passing of Steve Wilhite, he created the GIF and what is the proper pronunciation of the format.

<title>EPISODE 334: The Tech Behind News Reports</title>
<description>In this week’s show, Shawn, Justin, and Andy cover some of the Tech you may find behind the Local and even National News. For many News Reporters, or Multimedia Journalist, they are a One Person Band. Many times, a Journalist/Reporter will be asked to go into the field to cover a story and they are the Reporter, Camera Operator and Engineer for the Segment. Shawn tells us that about 90% of the On Scene Reports are now done this way. Justin and Shawn talk about the different pieces of technology that make this possible. Another trend in News Reports has been Stringers and how the local new audience can provide video from the scene of a news story.

Shawn and Justin tell us about stories they have done when working with TV News and one of the biggest was Shawn’s from Mecosta County " He Didn't Make me Pass Out on the Floor" Segment which went viral and was featured on news stories across the country including Jimmy Kimmel. Justin shares his story of the Epic Fail Fox 5 News Jetpack video which hit over 3.3Million views on YouTube. A story has surfaced about Microsoft possibly including ads in the Launch Windows for Windows 11. The turns the focus to the business of Ad's and Click throughs. With so many ads, how can they be minimized. Justin tells us about how easy it is to create a PiHoles with a Raspberry Pi device although, right now they are in High Demand.

Justin recommends Duck Duck Go as a search engine for those looking for privacy when searching online. A recent Ad campaign by them stresses the Privacy factor. Security with Passwords is discussed after Justin shares an Infographic from Hive Systems about creating the best password. The guys talk about Password Managers and which ones they like. With Justin's announcement of a new job in the tech world the guys talk about Education and Degrees and what is important to get a step into working in Tech. Where should one begin? Shawn shares the Website of the Web, https://www.hivesystems.io/password which can help guide you in creating a stronger password.

<title>EPISODE 333: A Bite of the Apple</title>
<description>For this week’s show, Shawn, and Andy talk about this weeks announcements from Apple with the Peek Performance Event. They break down
the new iPhone SE unveiling which features the A15 Bionic, the same power found in the iPhone 13. The iPhone SE will feature a smaller screen, 4.7" however with the Home Button, Touch and camera system also found in the iPhone 13, this can be a great option for those looking to a new smartphone in the iOS world with a much reduced price. While the Mac Book Air was a nice announcement with the M1 from Apple, the most exciting announcement had
to be the Mac Studio and Mac Studio Display. The Benchmarks of the M1 Ultra are amazing which is included a an option for the new Mac Studio, the M1 Max also is an offering.

Andy has been watching Investigation Discoveries latest show, Undercover Underage which 6 Episode run happens on Thursday Evening on ID and is streaming with the Discovery+ App. The show takes a deep look at one of the sad issues with the online world, Sexual Predators that can prey on those
underage. While we might not think our children can be affected by this, the preying on the younger users online takes many forms and is sometimes hidden behind the keyboard. Andy talks with Roo Powell, the Author and speaker and creator of SOSA, Safe From Online Sex Abuse. They talk about the show itself, the reality of getting these predators in the front of Law Enforcement and how youth is groomed to give up information and put themselves in harms way which could lead to trafficking, rape and murder. It is a gritty subject yet while TechtalkRadio talks about the latest in Gadgets and Gear and internet trends, this is not a trend we need in Society. Find out more about Sosa at https://www.sosatogether.org

Shawn tells us about the latest World of Warcraft Expansion and some of the Twitch Users streaming their Gameplay. Those that want to give WOW a try can check out https://www.blizzard.com

<description>In this week’s show, Shawn, Justin, and Andy try to decide which streaming service if they had to abandon, what would it be. In this, they talk about some of the great shows and reasons to watch and which ones they have that they would choose from to eliminate. One of the Constants among the three of them is YouTube for watching demo's, shows, classic clips. Andy found a new reality show on YouTube with good production value and is based in Arizona called Crazy Eights.

Elden Rings is quickly becoming one of the most streamed games and for very good reason. Shawn and Justin talk about the popularity of Elden Rings and what makes this RPG so different from the rest. Andy thought Elden Rings was a New Video Doorbell for the Older Crowd. Andy gets his hands on a ATEM Mini and ask Shawn about some of the key features on the Mini and why this would be a good solution on a Large Zoom Gathering that Andy have been asked to put together.

While Justin passed on his opportunity to get the Valve Steam Desk Shawn tells us about the CEO of Valve hand delivering the Handheld gaming units to buyers in Seattle. Andy shares the Sabrent USB 3.0 4 Bay Docking Station which has a comfortable form factor for the desktop. While it does some RAID configurations Justin and Shawn share the NAS devices they use. Getting your Videos and Photos digitized if you are doing it yourself can be as easy as having a company send you a box however Shawn's explanation truly nails it.

<title>EPISODE 331: To EV or Not To EV</title>
<description>In this week’s show, Justin, Shawn, and Andy reflect over some of the great moments from this past weeks Game. Justin and Andy talk about the Halftime Show and with Shawn share their favorite commercial spots. Crypto was featured in different ads for Exchanges and why this was a successful move for them. Also featured in Ads were Electric Vehicles and the crew talks about some of the brands and tactics used to get EV into the minds of viewers. The talk shifts to whether the guys would consider getting an Electric Vehicle. Some Manufacturers may be looking into subscription features for Vehicles and why this may not sit well with consumers, or would a buyer mind this method? Justin shares a story in the news out of Denver about a man’s battle with Carvana and how shopping for a car is much different from the past, but is it better? We are used to not getting out hands on items before we buy thanks to Amazon and other commerce sites and they guys share satisfaction from Customer Service from Amazon.

<title>EPISODE 330: Two Rats Butts!</title>
<description>In this week’s show, Justin, Shawn, and Andy break down some of the events of the Weekend including the "Big Game" for Sunday. Justin isn't entirely happy that the game won't be broadcast in 4K and shares his reasons why he feels it should be. Shawn breaks down some of the needs when broadcasting a Sporting Event in 4k and the Cost to equip the production crew. This year will present many commercials for products featuring a wide range of celebrities which is one of the extras Andy is focused on. The guys talk about the rise in many to look at Apps and Websites that allow
in some states to wager on the game and believe new allowances for some this year, wagering will be open to many consumers. Listener Ana sends in a
Question about wanting to upgrade her 6-year-old Motorola Android device and looks for what could be a possible replacement. Justin responds with his
experience with the Google Pixel 6 and why this would be a good upgrade.

Listener Mike also wants some suggestions on the possibility of building a Gaming Streaming PC that could be built for around $1000. Shawn believes it can be done with some reservations and looks at PC Parts Picker as a source. Andy talks about his Recent Custom build and how on a recent visit to
Costco found a comparable system in Speed and Cost for almost the same price point offered a much higher end graphics card, the RTX3060. This reminds
many of the trend of people buying systems and pulling the graphics cards and reselling the new build with a lower graphics card to make the difference.

Justin decides he is going to pass on his Pre-Order of the Valve Steam-Deck and tells us why and what he bought instead? His Website of the Week is a play on the popularity of Wordle, this one WorldDl, see if you know your geography! worldle.teuteuf.fr
