Japan has witnessed quite a few weird and unique devices in the past but given Japan’s recent history, the new phone from Sharp makes a lot of sense. The Pantone 5 107SH from Sharp is an Android device that can detect radiation level (up to 9.99 uSv/h).

A dedicated button on the phone triggers the radiation reader app and gives a reading in few seconds.

Apart from that, the phone is fairly usual when it comes to specs. Coming in choices of eight colors, the phone runs Android 4.0 and comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 1.4GHz CPU, 4.9MP camera, 1Seg TV Tuner, Wi-Fi and is dust and water proof.

Softbank will start selling the phone from mid-July at an unspecified price.

eBay has seen its fair share of iPhone prototypes but it seems this is the first time we’re seeing an iPad prototype being auctioned away on the site. Its the first-generation iPad and sports dual dock connectors, which surprisingly, Apple decided to remove from the final design.

The prototype is seen running Switchboard, which is Apple’s test software and is reported to work perfectly except for the touch input.

The listing owner is giving away the prototype for $10,000 or if you’d like, you can bid for the item that is currently going under $5,000.

3D International and ThreeD Holograms have unveiled a new display filter that transforms a regular 2D display into 3D. The transformation is done by attaching a detachable VisuZ CLD (Chromatic Light Deflector) on a regular LCD and the bundled software allows to convert the regular content to 3D for a glasses-free experience.

The idea is interesting but the implementation is the key. The company says the 3D filter can be used for variety of purposes from watching movies, gaming to outdoor advertising.

VisuZ CLD is currently available in 22-inch and costs Rs. 19,500.
