How Can I Change WordPress Autosave Frequency Interval?

WordPress.org has come out with several versions after the immense success of WordPress 2.0. More than 1.8 million WordPress copies have been downloaded all around the world.
WordPress Developers, thoughtfully, have included the AutoSave feature in the widely popular Blog publishing system ever since the release of the 2.1 version. This feature has become a lasting fixture in all the versions released after the WordPress 2.0, which means that your HTML files will get saved once in every 60 seconds while you are working.
The advantage of AutoSave feature is that you don’t lose any data as it automatically gets saved and stored in the form of a draft or a page every minute. Another added advantage here is that you have the spell check and search engine option enabled. However, some developers would prefer having longer durations, like maybe 5 minutes for saving their works.
To Delay the data saving time:
To be able to change the time interval or the occurrence for which the WordPress auto-save feature will save your data and content in the Visual Editor, you could easily do it using the AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL function.
This command will help you configure and set up a new rule for the time interval to save your data automatically. The constant could then be added in the wp-config.php configuration file within WordPress whose location is in the root directory. In simple words, you will be able to change the frequency of AutoSave according to your preferences.
You will need to open the above mentioned PHP file with a notepad or any other HTML editor. The syntax of the line that you will need to add to this file in order to extend the Autosave frequency to 5 minutes in WordPress is:

define(’AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL’, 300);

You can save the file and upload it again, or you could just save it if you are editing it online. Now the WordPress will auto-save your editing pages or posts for every 5 minutes or 300 seconds instead of the default 60 seconds. If you have any other preferences for Autosave frequency, you can similarly change the AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL constant according to your needs.

The freeware utility from Microsoft to mount ISO Images doesn't work in Windows Vista. Thankfully there's another utility that does.

The utility that we will use is called Virtual Clone Drive. This utility will let you mount .ISO, .CCD, .DVD, .IMG, .UDF and .BIN files. Download the utility and start the setup process.

Select Yes or OK at the hardware prompt and continue. You might have to restart your computer. Now you should be able to mount any ISO image by just double-clicking on the file. Note: If you are going to reinstall this utility, make sure you uninstall it first, or you'll BSOD yourself repeatedly.

This utility does not work on Windows Vista 64 bit edition.

Alternatives

Virtual CD-ROM (Microsoft) - This utility does not work in Windows Vista
MagicDisk - This is a nice, free utility, but it isn't very easy to install in Vista64.
Alcohol 52% - Free version of Alcohol 120, but it bundles a browser toolbar that they claim isn't spyware. It's unacceptable.
Daemon Tools - Well known tool, but the latest version installs spyware on your computer, and the old version doesn't work in Vista.

At this point, Virtual CloneDrive is by far my favorite free utility.

uninstall groovemonitor.exe

GrooveMonitor is a service utility that tracks groove behavour and creates reports for error reporting to MS (what else does it report?). It loads on startup. It gets installed when you install Office 2007. However it doesn't get uninstalled when you uninstall Office 2007. GrooveMonitor starts upon Windows startup (via registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).

To remove GrooveMonitor from your machine you have to go to Control Panel and then select Add/Remove programs. GrooveMonitor is one of the displayed applications. Uninstall it from there. That should do it for any normal windows program. Not surprisingly Microsoft himself often violates this basic principle (which surprisingly would give you more control over their crappy [pardon my French] software), and GrooveMonitor will still load on startup.

You can however use msconfig to prevent it from coming up on Windows startup.
1. Go to Start menu and click Run
2. Type msconfig and press Enter.
3. Go to Startup tab and then uncheck any reference to "groovemonitor"
4. Reboot

Note: Some malware may also camouflage themselves as GrooveMonitor.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 / Vista Password Breaking & Cracking

Before starting, for newbies…

Windows NT 5.0 = Windows 2000 (all edition)
Windows NT 5.1 = Windows XP (all edition)
Windows NT 5.2 = Windows 2003 (all edition)

So throughout this post I will refer our target as Windows NT 5.x (as following content are equally applicable to all Windows NT 5.x OS family).

So lets start the fun. You will be surprised to know that you can break into any Windows NT 5.x system without any software tool 80% of the time! So does this mean you can break into 80% of the system only???

No No No, If this would have been true, I’d never posted this. I believe in 100% result. So for 20% system there are another ‘n’ no. of ways and I’ll tell u a bit insecure way later. First lets get to 80% of the vulnerable system.

In Windows NT 5.x, you can create any no. of user with different names & privilege and optionally password. One such account with highest privilege level, with user name “Administrator” is setup by default (at par with UNIX/Linux’s root account).

At the time of installation Windows NT 5.x prompts for password but many system are setup by vendors and other person. The user of the system is different than one who installed and these lazy people are always in hurry and SKIP this password window. (Now I feel this is something wrong with Windows. It should be like Linux’s installer anaconda who forces you to provide password for “root” user).

The irony comes next. In final step of installation you create an account. Lock it with password(optionally) and start using the system. Now on welcome screen you see account(s) with different name. But have you ever seen “Administrator” account name (except you skipped somehow to create another account or booting in safe mode”).

Now if u can’t see “Administrator” account on screen, and system is locked against administrator privilege. You can hit “CTRL+ALT+DEL” (in Windows XP) to get Authentication window of Windows 2000 style.). If you still fail to get windowed login screen, boot the computer in safe mode ( It is done by pressing F8 during booting and selecting "Safe Mode" from the menu ).

Once you get dialog box. Enter user name “Administrator”, leave password field blank and hit ENTER to brake into the system! This is what works 80% of the time (I know its hard to believe but rather simple to TRY IT OUT!!!!).

Now for rest of the 20% system (where “Administrator” password is not blank). There are literally more than 100’s of tool available on Internet and the tool I use, I like, I refer is here.
I don’t know its name. I got it from my hacker friend ROGER. I named it WinPass.iso. Its an ISO image and you can download it from megshare where I kept it for downloading! Burn this ISO on a CD… Its bootable image of 2.7 MB.

It has Linux OS with text-mode only. (No Linux Knowledge Require here!!! Great naa….). After booting from CD… A menu driven program will start with options and their description at each level.

READ EVERYTHING BEFORE GOING AHEAD as any wrong-turn will make the target machine unstable. One mistake may crash the system to the reinstallation phase! So test it first on systems from college, office, etc!

It worked 100% of the time….As its 3.03 MB (after extracting) you can burn it on a mini-CD and keep it in your wallet all the time, so can roam around having master key to all systems having Windows NT 5.x family OS!!!

You can search on Google for Windows Password Cracking And Hacking Tools and would get plenty of them. Soon I would be posting as in how these softwares work. Njoy !!!

How to disable dr.watson in windows

Watson is a debugging tool in windows , which sometimes becomes quite irritating when ever it pops up suddenly .

Here is a method to disable it , if it bugs you :

Dr. Watson can be disabled using the registry editor:

Start the registry editor (Start >> Run >> type "regedit.exe" >> Hit enter )
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ AeDebug
Click on AeDebug and click Del

Alternativly just set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ AeDebug \ AUTO to 0

To re-enable Dr. Watson type "drwtsn32 -i" in run window.

1, Increase external USB hard drive performanc

By default, USB storage devices have write caching totally disabled primarily so you can unplug them without bothering with the Safety Remove Software icon in the Tray. Although this is handy for flash drives, it significantly slows down external USB hard drives. First, plug in your external USB drive, right-click Computer in the Start menu, and choose Properties. Then, click the Device Manager link, expand the Disk Drives entry by clicking the plus (+) sign, and double-click your external USB hard drive. Click the Policies tab and then click Optimize for Performance. This makes two more options appear: Enable Write Caching on the Disk and Enabled Advance Performance. Enable both options and click OK. Rebooting enables the change.

2, Increase SATA drive performance.

Vista's write caching is fairly conservative by default in order to prevent data loss in the event of a power failure. It your desktop PC is connected to a UPS (uninterruptable power supply), or if you're using a notebook computer with a reliable battery, you can set the write caching to be more aggressive. Right-click Computer in the Start menu, choose Properties, and then click the Device Manager link. Expand the Disk Drives entry by clicking on the plus (+) symbol and then double-click your SATA hard drive. Click the Policies tab, check Enable Advanced Performance, and click OK. Rebooting Vista will enable this change.

3, Disable Network Printer Search.

Vista normally searches for new network printers when you browse your LAN. But if you aren't regularly adding printers to your network, this searching slows things down. To disable this feature, click Network from the Start menu, which opens the Network window. Press ALT to make the Menu Bar visible if it isn't already and then choose Polder Options from the Tools menu. Finally, click the View tab. uncheck Automatically Search for Network Printers, and then click OK.

4, Turn unneeded Vista features off.

Windows Vista adds hundreds of features when it is installed. Not all of them arc enabled by default, but you probably don't need many that arc, anyway. Disabling those you don't need saves resources and speeds your system up. To find these and disable them, open the Windows Control Panel and switch to Classic View. Next, double click the Programs and Features icon and then click the Turn Windows Features on or off link on the left side or the window. After a moment, a large list appears with checkboxes. Those that are checked are enabled and those that aren't arc disabled. Different versions of Vista have different features enabled, so expand any collapsible entries by clicking the plus (+) sign to see what's turned on and disable what you don't need. To lock a folder in windows XP without any software. Follow the steps below.

1. Make a Folder in C drive rename it as "abc" without quotes.
2. Now open Command Prompt from Start Menu.

3. Type "attrib +s +h C:\abc" without quotes and press enter.
4. This command will Make your folder invisble and it can not be seen even in hidden files and folders.
5. To make it visible again type "attrib -s -h C:\abc"

You can lock any other folder also by changing the location C:\abc to address of your folder.

Multiple gmail ids for same account

You can have multiple email address of your existing gmail account just add "+" symbol after your user name then add anything followed by @gmail.com. Read the example below for better understanding.

My gmail id is rishi@gmail.com, Suppose I have three friends meena, teena, veena and if they ask for my email address then I tell them its rishi+ neetu@gmail.com, rishiforu+ teena@gamil.com and rishiforu+ veena@gmail.com.

When they send me at this address it first goes to gmail server where it recognize it as rishi@gmail.com and avoids “+” sign and anything after it. So any mail send to rishi+ anything@gmail.com come in my inbox.

So If you have Boyfriend/Girlfriend tell him/her email your email id as yourmail+ yourmate@gmail.com
Note: TO check your mail you have to login as yourmail@gmail.com that is in my case rishiforu@gmail.com without “+” sign.

How to access the sharing data offline

Access the shared data offline allows you to keep using your shared files, folders and software programs when disconnected from the data server. When you reconnect to your data server, all files will be synchronized to the files on the network.

There are two types of configurations required to set the access shared folders offline available, one for data server and other for client computer.

Configuration on Data Server.

First locate the folders that you would like to share or make new folders then share these folders so they can be accessible to any one on the network.

Now right click on that folder and click on the option "Sharing and security".

A small dialog box will appear with the title "data properties". Under the "Sharing" tab, select the check box "Share this folder on the network" under the "Network sharing and security".

Now set the share level permissions that you want to give the users on every folder. Enable cache of share folders by click on cache button (by default it will be enabled).

Configuration on Client Computer

On the client computer, first open My Computer then click on Tools.

In Tools menu bar, click on Folder Options, a window will appear with the title Folder Options.

Under the Offline File tab, check the option Enable Offline File. Here you can choose the synchronization process "Synchronize all offline files when logging on", "Synchronize all offline files before logging off" and others.

Click on Apply button to save the settings and then Ok button to close this window.

Now sitting on the client computer, try to access the shared folder from the data server.

First Right click on the shared folder and Click on Make available offline.

To synchronizing the offline work from client computer to data server, again open My Computer then click on Tools. Click on Synchronize then click on synchronizing button.

After that down to data server and then try to access share folders by give the UNC (Universal Naming Convention) path of data server. But it will be accessible weather the server is down or up.

How To Disable Windows Genuine Advantage Notification in 3 Simple Steps

Following three simple steps now you can get rid of the pesky and sometimes buggy Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) notifications:

1. Reboot Windows in safe mode (hold the f8 key while booting and you will get the option to boot in safe mode) and then:
2. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and search for wgalogon folder and delete it. You should backup up the registry beforehand, in case somethiong goes wrong.
3. In your windows directory search for files wga* and delete them.
You are done!
Now reboot back normally and continue your work. Windows Genuine Advantage will not bother you anymore.
Warning: Use at your own risk. Backup everything before you do.

A faster start menu

A see no reason for there to be any delay when I click on the Start Menu. Effects are pretty, but I wouldn’t click on it if I didn’t have business inside, so lets get it open and get moving. The default speed can be adjusted with a quick registry entry.

The default value is 400. Set it to 0 and the delay is gone, but it will be nearly impossible to move the mouse fast enough not to activate [All Programs] if you mouse over it in route to your final selection. It's easy to train yourself to move the pointer to the right after clicking Start to avoid activating All Programs. Pick a number that suits your style and make the change, then test it until you find a good compromise between speed and usability.

Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.

Burn/Write Disk Via LAN

Ever wished you could share that CD /DVD writer on the LAN / home network, saving you the time to run back and forth between your computer and the one with disk writer or the Money to install one in each computer?

I am sure many of you might have tried sharing the Disk recorder only to realise that by sharing it only shares the data in the disk and not the device. Some even said sharing the CD / DVD writer is not possible Until I came across NeroNet.

NeroNet doesn't actually share the CD / DVD but it allows you to burn CD/DVD via LAN which is exactly you want, multiple users using a common Disk Writer. NeroNet acts like a server and the bridge between the Writer and the client on Network.

Note: You need Nero 6 or higher to get the maximum benefit.

This is how you do it.

1) Download NeroNet and Install in that Computer which has the common CD/DVD writer.

You get something like this:

Just click Ok and go to step 2.

2) Right Click on the NeroNet systray icon and go to Web configuration.

On clicking this a web browser will open with the address http://127.0.0.1/www/index.html that's the localhost address.

In this click on "User Management" and create a new user id. This is the user Id and password the different users will enter in their Nero.

Also don't forget to change the password of the administrator account.

Server Installation is done !

3) Now go to each computer from which you need to burn disk remotely and Open "Nero Burning Rom" from the Program list.

File > Preference > Expert Feature Tab

Check on the Enable NeroNet Support the click on NeroNet Button

This will open the NeroNet Accounts Window. Now to enable a new account click on Create.

Now Give the account name, The user name and password should be the same as any one created in Step 2.

The Ip address given is the server address and you need to enter this in the address bar of your browser to access the control panel of the server.

You can even launch the Control Panel Site by clicking On "browser " in the NeroNet Accounts Window
Click Ok and you are Done !

If you get Login Failed that means you might have entered the wrong User name and password and check step 2 again.

Now we get to the good part How to Burn Disk Remotely !

Choose the Files you want to Write as you would do with Nero until you reach the "Final Burn Setting" Window. In this Choose the "Current Recorder" as the Profile you created in Step 3.

Then Click on Burn. This will queue your request to the Nero Server which will in turn burn the Disk on the Common CD /DVD burner.

You Can check the status at Control Panel Site.

Now One last tip: By default the Disk is ejected after burn which means the disk is no longer available to be written and someone needs to carry their lazy geek ass to reset it every single time writes it. Now a simple setting solution is to disable Disk ejection after Burn.

You can do that by going to Nero Burning ROM > Files > Preferences > Expert Features > Check: Do not eject the Disc after the Burn is complete.

Optimize Firefox Reduce Memory Leakage

Firefox 2.0 since its release had the niggling memory usage and no matter how many updates have been out to address this issue it still has that retard issue. A standard Firefox install without any extensions consumes around 80MB but soon after you add a few extensions you can see a noticeable drop in the performance. There are many guides out over the internet but i have made my own version that seems to work. It gonna be a pretty comprehensive guide so you have a stick a little longer to learn the tricks.

First of all make sure you have the latest version of Firefox, presently 2.0.0.7. If you don’t have which i doubt. You can download using the link below, if you are kind enough grab my referral link.

Extension and themes the main cause of memory leaks.

A standard install of Firefox doesn’t seems to show any memory leak issues. But after installing few extensions it seems to show the memory leak issues. Basically this issue occurs due to buggy, bloatware extensions. Also if you overloaded your Firefox with extensions, you can expect high memory usage. Same goes for themes, don’t install too many themes. To minimizes memory issues try testing each plugin one by one for few hours and check over their memory signature. As a result you can always find out the buggy ones and help yourself minimizing the high memory usage. You can even check this comprehensive list of buggy extensions and find out if one of your extension belongs here. Always keep your extensions updated this is another way to cope with the issue.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode

If one of your extensions is not in that list, boot Firefox into Safe Mode to disable all extensions and themes. You can do this by going to Start > Run, and entering:

firefox -safe-mode

A similar looking box will appear .Now check Disable all add-ons
now click on Continue in Safe Mode. Now fire up your Windows task manager and compare the memory usage before and after disabling the extensions. Normally disabling extensions only drops of couples of MB of RAM.But if you find some memory spikes this surely indicates some problems of either of the extensions or themes installed.

Plugins:

Another memory hogger are the plugins that are needed for open special media or application within Firefox, like Java chat, PDF reader, WMV, Quicktime etc. Here are some links from MozillaZine that offers some basic solutions to plugin related issues.

Clear your Download History:

This will erase your download history each time you close the Downloads History window.

The previous tips were simple yet good enough to tame the leakage issue. Now why not some internal tweaks that will boast Firefox performance to some extend. Here is a tip to limit the amount to allocated for caching.
There are a couple of settings you can tweak in Firefox that can limit the amount of memory allocated for caching.

1. Open Firefox and type in about:config in the address bar.

2. Type browser.cache.memory.enable in the Filter Bar and make sure it is enabled. If not, just double click it to set it to enable.

3. Right-click an area of empty space in the browser and choose New > Integer. Type in browser.cache.memory.capacity and click OK.

The integer value you enter depends on the amount of RAM you have.
If you have:
256 MB of RAM, enter “4096”
512 MB of RAM, enter “8192”
1 GB of RAM, enter “16384”
and so forth… Just double the number as your RAM doubles.

4. Right-click anywhere on the window and click New > Bootlean and enter:

config.trim_on_minimize

And set it to true.

By default whenever you minimize an app in Vista the memory usage goes down. But Firefox for some reason doesn’t does that. By using the above setting it will use less when minimized.

5. Restart Firefox for these changes to apply.

Millions of video clips, technology shows, music albums, movie trailers are available on these video sites for online viewing or they can also be downloaded to your hard drive for offline viewing.

The downloaded video files are generally in FLV format (Flash Video) which is an Adobe standard for video compression. It has fast becoming the web standard for delivering online video (replacing Apple QuickTime, AVI, Windows Media and Real rm formats) because Flash Video can be viewed inside Macromedia Flash Players which is shipped by default with most web browsers. Now here is what you need to do:

Just copy the above code and paste it into Notepad. Save it by giving it any name you choose. Assuming, the file is called secret.txt, change the extension to ‘.bat‘ so that the new name becomes secret.bat. What you get is a batch file. You could actually save one step by saving the file in Notepad directly as secret.bat by enclosing the file name like this: “secret.bat” . This batch file is the one that you need. You can edit this batch file to change the folder name and the password. To change the name of the folder that is created, change the ‘Personal’ (in bold in the above code) to any another name you choose. Likewise change the ‘pwd123′ (in red in the code) to anything else.

Now let’s see how to use it. Place the file in the location where you would like to create your protected folder. Run the batch file by double clicking on it. This will create a folder named Personal in the same location as the batch file. You can now open this folder and place any files in it. Once you are finished, run the batch file again. You will be asked whether you want to lock the folder. Entry ‘Y’ (for Yes) and hit Enter. The folder becomes invisible. To retrieve the folder, run the batch file again. You will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password, hit enter and voila! the folder appears.

Important: The batch file acts like a key to open the locked folder. So once you have created and locked a folder, do not keep the batch file in the same location since anybody can open the batch file and view your password. So I would suggest that you keep the batch file in a separate and safe place or better still keep it on your pen drive or flash drive. That way when you want to open the folder just copy the batch file to the location where you have your protected folder and run it.

Do remember that the above method is not intended to act as a substitute for the numerous free and commercial softwares that are specifically designed to provide security and encryption to your data.

Update: One of my friend told me that the code does is not working. Of course I did check it before posting it here. But I have identified the problem. The problem is with the straight double quotes used in the code in this post. Once you copy the code you would also need to change each of the double quotes with your keyboard double quotes. That might seem a lot of work for some. So I thought it would be easier to give away the batch file itself. You can download the file here. (Use right-click and ‘Save Target as’ or ‘Save Link as’).

Using Guest Create An Admin Account

Please do not misuse it.

Step 1: Open up Notepad, copy and paste the following code into it and save the file as admin.bat. (You could actually give it any name, just make sure that the extension is .bat)

Step 2: Copy the file to the Startup folder. Here is the path to the Startup folder:

The next time the admin logs on into the computer, the batch file runs and the admin account is created. Once the admin logs off, you can log in using the username newadmin and without any password.

Remember that it wouldn’t take long for the real admin to find out that a new admin account has been created.

Disable Error Report In Windows

Microsoft’s Error Reporting in windows sometimes is disturbing, most of us don’t want to send that error report because it’s of no use. Even I am fed up of this stupid error pop up every time. There’s a easy way to disable Microsoft error report in windows.

Disable Microsoft Error report in Windows XP:

1- Open Control Panel (Start > Control Panel)

2- Open the Problem Reports & Solutions applet Under advanced options and disable error reporting.

Disable Microsoft Error report in Windows Vista:

1- Right click on my computer (Desktop) and click properties

2- Click the Advanced Tab

3- You’ll see a “Error reporting” button at the bottom, click it

4- Select Disable Error Reporting

And you’re done.
