If you have a Nokia mobile phone S60, S40 edition etc. and you have protected your memory card with password and forgotten.If one day suddenly you restore your phone , after that you find that your memory card is password protected and shit ! You don’t know the password and have some important files & data in that, what will you do ? Don’t worry, I will show you the way by which you can unlock memory card’s password. If that trick will not work then sorry you can’t recover your memory card’s password & data but yes , I will tell you the other trick by which you can format your memory card and at-least recover your memory card to reuse.

So, these are some tricks to recover your memory card’s password.

If you have a Nokia s60 1st & 2nd edition phone you can find your memory card’s forgotten password by following these steps:

1. Download  and Install FExplorer.
2. Insert card into your s60 1st or 2nd edition phone but don’t access it through phone.
3. Run FExplorer and Open the path C:\system.
4. You will  find there a file named mmcstore , move this file to other location of your phone, rename the filemmcstore.txt
5. Open the file in your phone or Copy that file(mmcstore.txt) to your pc and open that file in notepad.
6. You will find your password in that file.
7. By this way, you can unlock memory card and recover your memory card’s password.

Unlock Memory Card in Nokia s60 3rd edition:

While searching, I haven’t found any way to find password of Nokia s60 3rd edition phones. But in some s60 3rd edition phones & almost all E-series phones you can unlock your memory card by remote lock option. Follow these steps:-

1. Activate remote lock option by going to Tools ↪ Settings ↪ Security ↪ Phone and SIM ↪ Allow remote lock menu. The password of your memory card will be your remote lock message.
2. Send an sms containing your remote lock message that will automatically change your memory card password.

Unlock memory card in Nokia s40 edition phones:

The only option to recover your locked memory card in Nokia s40 edition phones is formatting it with an s60.

1. Insert your locked memory card in an Nokia s60 edition phone.
2. Open the memory card options. You will see an option of format, select the format option. After formatting, you can at-least recover your memory card to reuse.

Some other tricks to unlock memory card:

• Try to explore your memory card in Linux OS. For a start you can download ubuntu or some other Linux distros which can be run in a USB drive. List of Linux OS can be run in a USB drive.
• Go to a mobile repair shop and get your memory card unlocked. They will charge you almost 50 bucks. They will put your memory card in a Memory Card Adapter and unlock it.
• Or buy your own Memory Card Adapter. Memory Card Adapters are available in the market. It will cost you around 2000 to 3000 INR.

The hosts file is a file used in an operating system to point hostnames to IP addresses. It is a  text file like any other text file with name hosts but without any extension to file. The Hosts file located in every OS at different locations in Windows NT, 2000, and 32/64-bit versions of XP,[4] 2003, Vista, 7 it is located in %systemdrive%/windows/system32/drivers/etc, in Mac OS X 10.2 and newer it is located in /private/etc/hosts

In Windows when Windows Start up it load the hosts file in to cache memory, then Windows checks the Hosts file before it queries any DNS servers, which enables it to override addresses in the DNS and by redirecting any IP or hostname to local IP(127.0.0.1) we can block any website or server to load.

By this way, you can block websites ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers. It is also very useful trick when you want to block some websites in your home PC to protect your kids from porn or other inappropriate websites.

For Example:

Adding entry 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net in hosts site will block ads from ad server Doubleclick.net,

adding entry 127.0.0.1 facebook.com will block Fcebook.com on all browsers in a system.

You can use this pre-configured hosts file containing all major ad-servers & suspicious websites [Link to the file]. Download this file by clicking & selecting Save As & Replace with your system’s hosts file.

Step by step tutorial of Blocking a website with hosts file in Windows:

1. Go to Start Menu and click on Run, Paste %systemdrive%/windows/system32/drivers/etc and hit Enter.
2. Now in  folder you will see some files as shown in image below, Copy hosts file and Paste on desktop.
3. Now, Open pasted hosts file on desktop with Notepad.
4. Add 127.0.0.1<space>hostname or IP of the website you want to block eg.facebook.com, see image below for more info. or Download this pre-configures hosts file, Copy the content from downloaded file & Paste it in pasted file on desktop.
5. Now, Click on Save in file menu(not Save as), Now Replace the edited file with the original one in %systemdrive%/windows/system32/drivers/etc.

Running an application from a USB drive is common. But do you know you can install and run an entire Orating System in a USB drive. There are some Linux distributions which can be installed and run in a USB flash drive.

Choose Linux distro as per your requirement. If you are looking for smallest operating system then it’s Damn Small Linux of 50.6 MB only, needs  16MB of Ram to run. I love to try different Linux distros in VirtualBox because, I am a big fan of Linux. Try and let us know which is your favorite one.

Software programs or a hardware which can read and store all the key stroke by a PC user in a Computer system & anonymously send the tracked reports to other computer sysstems or bots are called Keyloggers.

You personal data is on big danger if you have keylogger in your system. Your personal information like your email id, facebook account id & password, bank account and all other secure data is on the risk if, your computer system is infected with a keylogger. Hackers have programmed & attached the keyloggers with many of free softwares out there on the internet.It means when you download these softwares, you are also downloading keyloggers attached with them & giving hackers your personal information anonymously.

Follow these listed  points to detect & avoid keyloggers in your computer system:

1. Press ctrl+alt+del in windows, that will open task manager, it will show all tasks running in your system by different software programs. Examine all the tasks running in your system, if their is any task running of which you are not aware of, look it up on a search engine.
2. Scan your system with antivirusprogram regularly, boot-scan your PC regularly, it’s possible this will pick up the Keylogger on your system. There are lots of free & paid anti-virus programs out there. I recommend Avast strongly.
3. Examine starup tasks running on your system, the system configuration utility to determine which task are loaded at start-up (type “msconfig” in the run box to start).
4. Download a install specific keylogger detector program, and see if it detects anything. There are lots of keylogger detector programs out their, you can find one easily by Google.
5. Scan your hard disk for the most recent files stored. Look at the contents of any files continually updating (these might be logs created by antivirus).

Wi-Fi: Wireless Fidelity.

The term “Wi-Fi” suggests “Wireless Fidelity”, comparing with the long-established audio recording term “High Fidelity” or “Hi-Fi”, and “Wireless Fidelity” has often been used in an informal way, even by the Wi-Fi Alliance itself, but officially the term does not mean anything.

So no, “Wi-Fi” does not actually mean or stand for anything, it’s just a marketing term for any IEEE 802.11-compatible networking device.

Cnet is a very good website to download lot of virus free softwares. But recently cnet replaced direct download links to download softwares to CNET software installer which is a headache because, this CNET software installer contains adwares like useless toolbars, it can change your default homepage etc. A user without internet connection can’t install softwares.

There is a userscript called NoBadware: Direct Download Links that skips Cnet’s web downloader when downloading files from the download portal. It will automatically replaces all links pointing to Cnet’s secure downloader with direct software links, even for users who are not logged in or registered at the site. You can easily download direct software installer without CNET software installer & that installer can be used to install softwares without internet connection.

The script indicates the change on the site by adding a small notification below the Download Now link on each program’s download page.

If you have an desktop with DVD writer or laptop with DVD writer then, you can easily install your Windows 8, 7 or Vista with bootable Windows disc but, what to do if your PC is old or you have a netbook which doesn’t have DVD writer ? In that case you can install your Windows with USB Flash Drive. I am going to tell you the easiest way to install Windows 7, 8, Vista with USB Flash Drive.

Requirements:

1. A USB Pendrive with minimum of 4 GB capacity or a Memory Card of 4 GB + USB Card reader
2. A Windows Vista, 7 or 8 ISO file.
3. Download Universal USB Installer

That’s all.

Step by step instructions:

1. Firstly, Open Universal USB Installer by double clicking on its icon.
2. After Universal USB Installer box opened Click on I Agree.
3. Then, click on the Drop Down Menu marked as No.1 in image below & select Windows 7 Installer if, you are going to install Windows 7 or Windows 8 Developer Preview (Process is same for both Windows 7 as well as Windows 8 Developer Preview) or select Windows Vista Installer if, you are going to install Windows Vista.
4. Then, click on the Browse Button marked as No.2 & locate your Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows 8 developer preview ISO file.
5. Then, click on the Drop Down Menu marked as No.3 & select your USB  Drive from the list (the drive you will select will be your bootable drive).
6. Click on Create Button & you will see window as in image below. Process will take some time to complete.
7. After Process completion you will see as below.
8. Then, Plug your Bootable USB drive to the PC where you want to install your Windows Developer Preview, Windows 7 or Vista.
9. Then, Start your PC & press F2 or F12 on your keyboard to open Boot Menu (it can be different for every manufacturer).
10. Then, Change your Bootable device to Bootable USB Drive created by you in previously step.
11. Windows setup will start copying files & you will see your Install Now button, click on Install Now button & Select or Create partition on your hard drive where you want to install your new Windows & start installation process, Windows setup will show you further instructions follow those instructions & after installation process your new Windows will ready to use.

Tips: Universal USB installer is a very good, tiny, free & handy tool to install Windows as well as many other Linux distributions.
