We all are known to the silicon chips that run our smartphones, computers, data centers small gadgets like Mp3 players and also the car that you drive daily is having a computer to manage its engine. So virtually we are surrounded by the tech involving silicone chips in our day to day life.

So wait a minute Quantum computer or a quantum chip is not going to replace your silicon smartphone chip any time soon.

How the Quantum computer is different from the silicon chip computer

Well, silicon chip as we all know is made up of silicon a wafer, and that's a topic for some other day. But a computer has its own processing brain called a processor which is made by a wafer fabrication process and it works on binary number system zeros and ones. There are billions of transistors fabricated onto a single computer chip as of today. Also, the power-efficient processes of thinner and thinner wafers are going on for many years and as of today 2021, we can say the 5 nm fabrication process is almost going to be mainstream. Thinner the wafer better the performance and lesser the power consumption.

But in all the processor is for a mobile device or for a data server or for a supercomputer the basic building block is silicon wafer which has a lot of limitations like maximum frequency it can operate on maximum processing it can do and so on. I am simplifying the things for those of you who are not so deeply involved in the tech. The other similarity is the data processing is done in digital bits which have either 0 or 1 as a state of sending or storing the information.

Now here comes the Quantum Computer. Where processor architecture to the operating system to the way of functioning everything is different. A quantum computer on the other hand works on Qibits rather than bits. The qubits are the basic building blocks of any quantum computer just as we say for any chip-based computer that it is 32 bit or its 64 bit likewise the quantum computer's processing power depends on the qubits and higher is of course better. Now the interesting fact of the Quantum computer is that the qubits can have 0 and 1 both states at a single instance of time and also it can have the intermediate states too. This makes quantum computers special as the number of permutations and combinations that it can perform at any given instance increases immensely giving them an edge over chip-based computers.

As mentioned earlier the operating system for the computer too is custom made and it cannot be used as a general computer as of now. You may not be able to open your spreadsheets on the quantum computer. So you may ask what's the use of such a computer. Well, as said due to the inherent nature of extremely high speeds it can operate at and qubits taking multiple states simultaneously make them extremely faster.

Quantum Bits or Qubits

So now let's talk about what are Qubits and how they work and why is a quantum computer so fast. Well, qubits are the set of atoms entangled with others in the quantum state. It may feel sci-fi to many but that's how simply I can make you understand the qubit. Now all the Quantum computers that are designed are working on extremely low temperatures to keep the cubits stable. One of the most powerful computers by Google called Sycamore is 53 cubit. In October 2019 the Sycamore claimed quantum supremacy by performing the mathematical calculation which could have taken 10,000 years by today's supercomputer. Now you got it why there is a lot of buzz around the Quantum computer. Yet another American company claimed quantum supremacy in July 2020. They have created 128 qubit second-generation quantum computers and some of the researchers and experts believe that these computers are so powerful that it can decrypt the cryptocurrency algorithm itself. Isn't that scary for those of you who are invested in cryptocurrencies.

Almost all of the computers that I mentioned in the topic are using some sort of cubit and to achieve that the scientists have used superconductors to make these machines. Well, Chinese scientists have a different approach and they have used photons instead of superconductors and light is a means to develop their quantum computer. As per the claims by Chinese scientists they have obtained quantum supremacy. And personally, I feel that the approach by Chinese scientists is more superior.

Race to Quantum Supremacy and its Uses

Now, what is actually quantum supremacy? well, the race between companies and countries for having the most powerful Quantum computer is on and who so ever achieves the superiority in that is said to have the quantum supremacy.

As mentioned earlier the Quantum computers are not going to replace your desktops or mobile processors any time soon. But the ability to scale up the cubits and enhance the power of the Quantum computer is what makes it special that it can be scaled up to a very large computational machine. The uses of the Quantum computer as of now are task-specific and problem-specific. But the power of computational and mathematical problems that a Quantum computer can solve is almost ten thousand times faster than the fastest supercomputer that the powerful nations of the world have today.

As of now, the Quantum computers are still in their nascent stage the tech is yet to evolve and mature. They are large clunky and require a lot of power and space. But even with this advent of new computer type, things are going to change more rapidly. With such a muscle to perform complex tasks, it can solve real-time problems, it can even predict the outcome of the war and the probability of War. It can decrypt the cryptocurrencies.

There is a lot of exciting future for Quantum computers. Some day it may happen that there could be just one Quantum computer and your Mobile device's brain may be powered from one such Quantum computer else the mobile that you carry will just have no power else to connect to the internet and have a brain of its own from the Almighty Quantum computer that may be sitting centrally providing all that computational power that your device or you may need.

What is GPON Technology How it works and its Advantages?

GPON Broadband Technology is for High-Speed Internet Experience

GPON is the type of broadband connection you should get if you want a faster and more secure internet experience.

PON here stands for Passive Optical Network. This kind of network was available in the mid-90s. Over the period technology has evolved and advanced since the mid-90s, technology of PON has matured as well. Now the PON has become GPON. Here GPON stands for Gigabit Passive Optical Network. From the name itself you can make out that the internet you get will be very fast. A fiber-optic broadband connection is used to create a point to the multi-point network so users can access the all-fiber Ethernet end-point. Even at a greater distance, GPON transmits data at a very high speed and offers a great bandwidth. Let’s take a look at all the benefit of a GPON network.

Benefits of a GPON Network

1. Longer Range/Distance – A conventional copper broadband connection (DSL connection) can transmit data over a range of 100 meters. But a GPON broadband connection can transmit data between 10-20 kilometers. But despite the higher distance, the speed doesn’t drop. So ultimately, you can get higher speeds at higher distances making it a win-win for everyone.

Speed Of GPON Network

In most cases of broadband connections, the download speed is greater than the upload speed. Mostly, internet service providers set their default settings for your broadband connection in a way that your download speed is greater than your upload speed. It is nothing but normal to get 80% of the promised upload speed to you. Sometimes, it is even lesser than that. The reason behind slow broadband speed is that when a lot many users use their broadband connections in the same area, the servers get busy uploading and downloading data for multiple user's streams at the same time.

To get a symmetric internet speed both for downloading and uploading, a fiber-optic broadband connection is the one to go for. Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) is the best fiber broadband connection that one can get in today's era of fast internet. It is advanced technology and has many advantages to it mentioned above.

How Does GPON technology work?

As said earlier the GPON or any PON network is passive in nature and it doesn't require any supply to operate. It entirely works on the principle of splitting and coupling the light signals through the network of optical fibers.

Here are some of the building blocks of the GPON technology

OLT- Here stands for OPTICAL LINE TERMINATION Equipment

ONU/ ONT Optical Network Unit/ Optical Network Terminal (which is typically a Router/Modem) you can say in the lamens language

Coupler Its typically a network element in the GPON network wherein the fiber optic power form the OLT is coupled to a number of splitters where it is finally connected to the ONU/ONT

Splitter Its also a GPON Network Element where the power is further distributed to the number of ONT/ONUs from the OLT. The splitter is the last element in the network where it connects to the customer premises ONU/ONT in the GPON network.

Also if the GPON network is triple play, meaning the Voice, DATA, and Video or Cable TV then there are some other network elements and I think to keep things simpler we will just consider the network with the above-mentioned network elements with just the voice and data. Below is the basic block diagram of the GPON network

As seen from the above diagram the OLT is the main optical equipment connected to the uplink of the network and from OLT the optical network web is laid to the end-user premises. All the network elements like splitter and couplers are connected through the optical cables till the last mile and that is up to the user ONT.

The devices like computers, Mobile devices, and PSTN telephone, or even a SIP phone or IP Phone can be connected to the network to make and receive calls.

There are many updates of fiber to the home like FTTH, FTTX, etc. and as of 2021 fiber is the way to get a high-speed internet connection. Fiber to the home is reliable and steady connectivity as of now and it's here to stay till the big technical breakthrough is invented. I don't see that happening any time before 10 to 15 years of time. 5G though is promising but the cellular data is almost 5 to 10 times more expensive than that of the fiber line and it's yet to prove its metal.

Petrol Scrap Bike to Cyber Electric Geared Bike

This is a project very close to my heart and this is a second iteration of the Bajaj Boxer, one of the popular bikes in the commuter segment in India made by Bajaj Auto. I got a very old and rusty scrap bike totally in nonworking condition. As you can see from the pictures below of before and after. The pictures of the old bike itself reveal the rusty and miserable shape it was in. This bike was totally worked upon and converted to a geared electric bike. This is the second bike that I have made. The first bike was a bit raw in shape and refinement.

I have kept the same concept of using the old bike's gearbox and converted it to a geared electric bike. I have used the original bike's gearbox but have replaced the original crankshaft with a customized one. I hope you guys will enjoy this article.

Step 1: Preparing Old Bike for Battery Tray and Electric Conversion

Old scrap bike gas tank was removed and a metal tray was fixed at its place. this will hold the new battery pack made with two parts of configuration 6s15p. The battery pack was split into two parts as the chassis pipe is passing in between the holding tray for the battery pack. You can also see the LifepO4 battery pack in two parts with all the balance wires taken out form the battery pack. The BMS was attached outside of the battery pack and the rest of the wiring from BMS and battery wires were connected. Finally, the XT90 connector was connected as a power output.

Step 2: Assembling the Electric Power Train With Old Gearbox

Above seen are some of the parts that were removed and are not required like silencer air filter original crankshaft magneto etc. Custom Gearbox is then assembled with a custom crankshaft that goes in as primary drive shaft and it goes inside to the gearbox. finally, the gearbox gives output at the trans axel which then drives the final wheel. No modifications were done in the final drive wheel sprocket. Also, you can see some of the parts that were used in the IC engine were removed saving some weight.

Step 3: Installation of Gearbox and Motor on the Bike

Finally, the gearbox is installed on the bike chassis. L plate made of iron was then installed on the gearbox where the original block piston and valve head assembly was there. According to the requirement, the holes were made in the base of the L plate that will house the motor on a perpendicular face. You can have a look at the pictures above to get a better idea.

Step 4: Installation of Primary Drive Pulleys and Electronics

I have installed the pulley and belt drive as a primary drive system. This will drive the custom driveshaft going inside the gearbox which will drive the clutch and through trans axel, the power will be transmitted to the rear wheel. As seen in the above pictures the electronics like converter and motor controller were installed inside of the bike chassis where the air filter assembly was there. Also, you can see the charging socket installed on the gearbox side popping out. Also, you can see the battery packs mounted on the platform that was used to carry the battery pack in two halves.

Step 5: Display for Battery Capacity

I have used a simple digital display to show the battery voltage so that I can see how much charge is remaining. All the rest things like speedometer and light and horn switches are kept original. The display unit also houses the three-position switch that will offer three different power modes of the like economy, city, and sports. The three-position switch is wired to the controller.

Step 6: Custom Tank and Looks of Finished Bike From the Scrap like Cyber Bike

I made a custom tank that will cover the battery pack and made it waterproof as well. As you can see from the above pictures the completed bike. I have tried to give a modern retro look with some sort of futuristic design. The design is not inspired by Tesla's Cyber truck as this bike was made before the launch of Cyber truck. Still, I say its Cyber Electric Bike. I want to hear from you guys that how does the bike look like and what do you say about the color scheme in the e-bike.

Step 7: Performance and Let's Take it for a Spin

With a gearbox, this is bike can pull a lot of weight. As seen in picture I and my friend in doubles are easily climbing up the slope more than 35 degrees. You can also see the stills of the in motion. for further action, you can surely watch the entire video of the bike performance. I have been using this bike since I made it in August 2019 and not a single time the bike disappointed me.

The bike has decent pickup and power. It can travel a distance of 65 km per charge and I have given DC fast charging that can charge the bike from empty to full in just 2 hours flat. How to convert old petrol bike to geared electric bike

This project is very very special as I have made an electric bike that too India's first electric bike with four gears. I always use to wonder why no gearbox is used to make electric bikes efficient. Of course, the obvious reason I do know but still I wanted to know and experience what idea was there in my mind and so I decided to make one on my own. The idea behind making the geared electric bike was to make a commuter or street bike with an economy, green, zero-emission street bike that can easily carry any person, two persons and can cruise at a decent speed. It lags nowhere in the city's fast-moving traffic. Also can carry loads while climbing more than 35 degrees of slopes. I have made all of the above things to be true and working on the bike. The donor bike that I took was in very bad shape. This project took six months to complete as I wanted all of the above criteria to be present on the bike. How I made it and what all modifications are done to make this bike is all well described in this video. Basically, I took Bajaj Boxer and used only the frame and gearbox of the bike. For using four-speed gearbox on an electric bike, I had to replace the main crankshaft with the customized one. Also, a thick motor plate was fabricated for mounting the motor on the gearbox to make it a complete electric engine with four gears. This project came out really very good and even more than my expectations.

Many of my friends have asked me why gearbox and not hub motor, following are the reasons

1) Better torque on lower power motor.

2) electric vehicles are typically cursed for lower traction up hilling or climbing a slope that is eliminated in this.

3) overall lesser amps draw from battery due to gears improving the life of battery and efficiency of the entire system

4) higher load carrying capacity due to gears

5) I have just used a 1000 watt motor which outputs barely 2000 rpm at the shaft but still, I have managed to strike a balance between performance and power just because of a geared system So I hope you have got all your doubts cleared over using the gearbox.

There is a lot going in for the making of this project and lots of efforts and hard work had gone for making this e-sculpture on two wheels. Your word of appreciation will be really a credit to my work.

Step 1: Taking a Donor Bike and Modifying Its Frame to Hold Batteries

Step 2: Customized Parts That Were Made

An e-rickshaw motor 1000 watts 48v was modified. The motor is primarily made to be used with the rear differential gearbox of a three-wheel vehicle. There was a small gear on the shaft of the motor. I then turned that gear to the rounded shaft and made a flat part on the shaft to fix the chain sprocket with grub screws. The original engine crankshaft was removed and replaced with the customized shaft and the drive sprocket will be fixed on the other end where there was a magneto of the bike. The shaft pops out of the magneto cover where there will be a key slot to fix the bottom sprocket. Where there was a mounting for block and head assembly at that place motor mounting plate will be fixed. motor sprocket is also shown in the pictures below.

Step 3: Electric Engine Assembly

The customized shaft was placed in the gearbox and the gearbox was then assembled as a regular bike gearbox along with all the gear and clutch functional. The gearbox will then be filled with regular quantity to 20W30 gear oil. This oil will probably last forever because this oil is not going to be burnt by the combustion engine.

Step 4: Gearbox and Parts Ready to Be Mounted for Electric Motor

As I have shown in some of the above pictures gearbox converted for the electric engine is ready along with the electric motor. Firstly the gearbox is mounted on the frame after that level plate gasket are placed and the motor mounting plate is fixed. After that part is completed the motor is mounted on to the motor mounting plate completing our electric engine installation with gears.

Step 5: Making BLDC Motor Wiring Connections With Controller

As like other regular electric bikes the motor, throttle, battery connections were made to the controller. Ignition switch wire was connected to motor enable wire in the controller. Twisting the throttle the motor and electric engine came to life.

Step 6: Primary and Secondary Chain Drive Installation

This bike has two chain drives. Primary chain drive between motor and gearbox and secondary chain drive between the gearbox and the wheel.

Step 7: Making a Cover for Battery Bay and Paint Work

The battery cover was made form the existing petrol tank by cutting it into two parts and then adding an iron sheet strap in between to bridge the two halves by welding so that it sits on the battery bay. Finally, all the parts were sent to the paint shop and I was eagerly waiting for the results.

Step 8: The Final Outcome and Taking It for a Spin

The final outcome of the project was mind-blowing. I took the bike for a ride and I cannot explain to you how satisfying and hair raising experience that was. The bike performs as expected and even more than my expectations. I would suggest you watch the video for a better understanding of the project. DIY cute jumping robot sparrow.

I have made this cute Jumping Robot Sparrow and it will steal your heart away with its cute looks so let's see how to make this cutie.

Take two cold drink bottle caps and make holes of about 5mm exactly at the center of caps.

Step 2: Fix Both Caps on the TT Geared Motor

Take one geared TT motors and fix both the caps as shown in the picture by holes made previously and keeping the equal spacing hot glue both with the shaft of the motor.

Step 3: Stick Rubber Strip on the Half Part of Wheels

Take a rubber tape or cut rubber from a bicycle tube and stick it on the half part of the wheels. Stick the tape with the super glue that it does not come off. Make two layers of that tape one on another.

Step 4: Take a Bicycle Spoke and Bend It As Shown in Picture

Take one bicycle spoke and bent it as shown in the picture and take two plastic tube pieces and slide it over the bent spoke making sure that both of the tubes can slide smoothly over the spoke length. This tubes can be easily made out of the ball pen refills or inner colored tubes.

Hot glue the spoke assembly on the motor. Tubes are to be glued and not the spoke making sure that it has a slant angle which you will understand in a while in the next step. The entire TT motor once glued will be able to slide on kind of rails made up of cycle spoke which seems to be of U-shaped.

Take two wooden strips and make two holes as shown in the picture above. Make it sure to make it at a slant that our spoke assembly will rest on it making the feet of the sparrow.

Step 7: How the Assembly Looks Like

Step 8: Wiring Up Motor Adding a Jumping Rubber and Battery

The battery is added by sticking or hot gluing at the belly part of a sparrow. Wiring is made and the switch is added. A rubber band is strapped as shown in the picture.

Step 9: Draw the Templet of the Sparrow.

A figurine is made out of cardboard single layered or you can even use balsa wood for that reason. Take the cutout of the eye portion, keep that round part as we will use that round eye part cut out as well. Make two figurines of the sparrow one for each lateral sides.

Step 10: Color It and Hot Glue Both Sides

Color it and hot glue the sparrow on both sides to Sparrow mechanism. Eyes are painted white which are glued on the wheels.

Step 11: Our Sparrow Is Now Looking Too Cute...

Dji Osmo Pocket review

This product is something I have ever imagined. Small in size big in features is what this gimbal is all about. It also has a lot of many accessories available to use with it which enhances your experience to use this little stuff. This is the same kind of arrangement that we have seen on DJI Mavic 2. Start capturing silky smooth video footages with no more camera shakes and blurring videos.

Eventually, if I put it this way that, it is DJI Mavic 2 minus the drone part of it, is what DJI OSMO Pocket plus one tiny monitor to find out what is being shot.

In short, if I say this is a smartphone camera mounted on three axis gimbal but without that clumsy big mechanical structure, which cant be pocketed but this one can be with the same quality and features onboard. This entire unit with a camera and onboard screen weighs just at about 116grams isn't that amazing.

The camera onboard is very capable and it can really take some scenic videos and stills, which you would probably judge from the specs above. The monitor screen on the gimbal is one-inch diagonal, but it's a touch-capable display.

Connecting the smartphone with this gimbal makes things even more fun. Many configurations and features will otherwise remain unexplored without the smartphone connection. The DJI app installed on the phone automatically pops up once you connect the phone with a supplied adapter or lightning connector both provided in the box. Else for all other activities, you don't need a smartphone and that's the basic purpose of this device.

In addition to usual video features like slow motion, timelapse, and motion lapse, you can also use the gimbal to track faces and other objects. DJI’s FaceTrack feature automatically stays focused on your face when the gimbal is in selfie mode, and the ActiveTrack feature allows you to manually select what you want to track.

Those of the professional videographers and photographers won't be giving up their gear for this unit as when it comes to reproducing sharp and crisp images and videos it falls short. But If you never owned a gimbal and you planning to buy one then I will definitely recommend this product.

I can say that it performs better then your old Gopro camera, and if you are planning an upgrade to new Gopro then consider this more potential option.

Considering the early release price of 350 USD it's not cheap, but considering the power that it packs in, also justifies its price. This will roughly translate to about say 26000/- INR.

This gimbal camera will definitely appeal a lot of vloggers, pro-level videographers and video and gadget enthusiasts.

DIY Dynamic Desk Lamp

This is very easy to make a project. The end result comes out very satisfying. It took just a handful of things to make this dynamic desk lamp. The reason why I say dynamic is that along with RGB color changing is because it is having the bubbling water effect along with lamp which adds to the dynamism of the lamp making it much lively and soothing to look at; it kind of makes the place as happening one even though you are all alone it will boost up your mood.

Materials required

1) Empty Bottle for making lamp body

2) A plastic box, big enough to house bottle and it serves as a lamp base and to house electronics

3) Aquarium stone, some aquarium pipes

4) RGB LED strip with controller and remote.

BSNL EYING SMART CITY PROJECTS

The state-owned company BSNL is foraying its expertise of telecom business in smart city projects of central government.

Just on 17th October 2018 at the Rajkot Gujarat, BSNL demonstrated the POC ( Proof OF Concept) to the top authorities. The Rajkot Municipal Commissioner and Commissioner of Police headed the event. Also, the committee from RMC and professional consultant hired by Rajkot Municipal Corporation to analyze the performance of bidders was present at the event.

Top officials from BSNL were present at the event. Principal GM Rajkot, Shri A.K. Upadhyay, Principal GM Enterprise Business Gujarat Circle BSNL V. Ramesh, Dy. GM Enterprise Business Shri P. K. Shukla. Bsnl Rajkot Enterprise Business team worked day and night relentlessly to make this event a success.

There were other bidders apart from BSNL as a lead bidder. BSNL had worked out the entire smart city project in multiple parts and consortium partners with expertise in various fields.

BSNL's Smart City model

As we have witnessed and heard a lot about all telecom service providers revenues sank to one just one third. This is due to a fierce price war in the Indian telecom market. Corporate office BSNL Delhi worked out a plan to tap in additional revenues to fight the revenue crunch in BSNL.

Like all other telecom operators, BSNL is even facing the immense heat of price war in the Indian Telecom market. This is also a kind of diversification in the right direction by BSNL in the like or adjacent field.

Key Features and Smart utility integration by BSNL.

BSNL along with its consortium partners showcased the following utility to be integrated with the smart city capability.

GIS Geographical information system:

In this system, a given area or entire area of the city is scanned especially underground. All the utilities running beneath the ground surface is scanned. An ultrasonic or electromagnetic radar-like device creates the 3D map in software and that very map is then linked to the CCC (command and control center) of the city.

With a click of a button as and when required information regarding the underground layout of any particular area can be obtained. This can ease giving permissions to agencies and other excavation-related works carried out in the city.

Smart hawkers prevention

In this utility, a camera is mounted in restricted areas of the city. The camera continuously keeps monitoring about timing and subject detection of the area under consideration. This will flag an alert whenever an illegal hawker is found in the prevention area or during the disallowed time. Many parameters can be set in this system.

The concerned Municipal officer's mobile will receive an alert about any objectionable hawker, along with map guidance to the place of illegal hawker presence. The system is smart and can differentiate between a car and a hawker. Also, the system is AI enabled meaning it will keep itself updating under various scenarios and become more and more intelligent over a period of time.

PIS and Smart Fare collection system

PIS stand for passenger information system. Passengers traveling by any public transport system will be given information of various parameters including the timing of buses on the BRTS route. It will also provide any alerts pushed from CCC about any emergency and things like that.

Smart fare collection system includes automated entry and exit while traveling form the BRTS route. This will include a ticket validation system. In future, it will be expanded to " Rajkot Mitra Card" a unified card to travel all across the Rajkot City without any cash just automated fare collection and charging across any public transport.

Smart Parking

In this system an automated fare collection is possible. Real-time information of availability of parking slot at Corporation's parking lots. The system will facilitate to book a parking slot for your car remotely.

Public Address Systems

In this utility, a centrally controlled PA system is located at CCC. In case of emergency or in any need to inform people in any situation an announcement can be made from anywhere on any selected place from CCC. Announcements can be selective, meaning any particular place or in a group of places; an announcement can be made.

Automated Traffic Light Control

This is a very excellent feature of a smart city. At crossroads, we know that we Indians burn a lot of fuel along with wasting a lot of time. This system will help to achieve about 30% of saving in time and of course, fuel wastage will also go down with that.

What this system does is that it keeps a watch on traffic from all four lanes, there are smart sensors to understand the amount of traffic. Then in realtime, the system takes a decision to pause or release the traffic of anyone particular lane. And as claimed by system manufacturers and implementors it saves about 30% of the time by smart switching of traffic lights by adaptive switching in reference to real-time data of traffic.

All of the above smart facilities and utilities are concentrated at CCC. BSNL has incorporated Schneider as a CCC platform provider and integrator wherein all the utilities and services are integrated and monitored.

So there is still a lot more to Smart City that BSNL and its consortium partners can do. So I have given you the brief idea as what BSNL, a state-owned company is actively participating in for making its financial position strong in the market.

Back in the days' phone cameras were very laggy and dodgy, but now manufacturers are stretching the envelope farther and farther and closing the gap between professional cameras and phone cameras. And as said the best camera is always that's one in your pocket.

Initial Impression Of Device

Samsung A9 looks stunning at first glance, and nowadays the trend of color grading seen on the phones is also visible in above pictures. Personally, I don't like notches on screen and thankfully the above one does not have one.
For those notch lovers, this is one drawback. The design looks very premium. The array of four camera sensors at the back side too looks great.

Technical Specifications

Apart from this four-camera array, the phone is equipped with a fairly typical set of mid-range internals, like a Snapdragon 660 processor clubbed with 6GB of RAM and powered by a 3,800mAh battery.
The device has onboard 128GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot that supports up to 512GB of external memory. A dedicated memory slot in the tray along with dual nano sims. A9 also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The screen is a 6.3-inch Full HD+ panel, with a resolution of 2220 x 1080.

Samsung's Strategy

Samsung has now shifted the focus of throwing groundbreaking technology and features in flagships to more of mid ranged phones. The reason for the shift in focus was published by Gartner in May, and t launch of A9 is in line with the company's strategy.
The company's strategy shift is owing to stiff competition from Chinese phones; having all those jazz-like in screen fingerprint scanner and all those exciting stuff at mid-ranged segment prices. So some of these techs aren't a part of flagships; are available in lower or mid-range Chinese phones.
Furthermore, ever-increasing prices of flagships make it difficult for people to upgrade to next flagship; for almost no to very incremental changes. To throw in groundbreaking features in flagships, includes a lot of research and development costs, hence higher costs of flagships; thus making it commercially unviable compared to lot many Chinese options.

Pricing and Availability

Finally, the pricing of this device is going to be in the upper midrange bracket; expected to be launched with a price tag of about 725 USD. which translates to 54000/- INR. Hence, this seems to be much pricy in India, but maybe it's global pricing. Pricing in India will be under 40K, to pitch the device in midrange price bracket. Samsung Galaxy A9 is slated to be launched in India around November 2018.

Some of you in the related field would be knowing in and outs of this tech in depth but most of the people are still unaware of this extremely powerful technology; though used by them on daily basis. So worry not I will try to cover most common and uncommon uses of cloud computing and what the stuff is all about in this article.

The early and most widely used form of cloud computing that we all are familiar with today is an e-mail which changed the way we communicated. Now I hope you might would be getting some lines straight in your head what cloud computing is all about. In cloud computing generally a central server is remotely located and all the clients, users are connected to the client machine which is a web server, a dedicated mainframe computer or an central server with massive computing power.

All the client machines may it be your mobile phone or an tablet or desktop or laptop for instance are connected to that central server or cloud computer ;through one or the other form of connectivity. SAAS Software as a service :

CRM modules, your SAP ERP, e-mail, virtual desktop, chrome book, online games, cloud storage like Google drive and Dropbox etc. are categorized into software as service. SAAS provides mainly sharing of software to client machines and no other resources are available, its just the software that comes into interface for using particular service and hence software as a service. None of the infrastructure or platform of cloud computer is available to user or the client.

IAAS Infrastructure as a service:

In IAAS, refers to online services that provide high-level APIs used to de-reference various low-level details of underlying network infrastructure like physical computing resources, location, data partitioning, scaling, security, backup etc. A hyper-visor, such as Xen, Oracle VirtualBox, Oracle VM, KVM, VMware ESX/ESXi, or Hyper-V, LXD, runs the virtual machines as guests. Pools of hyper-visors within the cloud operational system can support large numbers of virtual machines and the ability to scale services up and down according to customers' varying requirements.

PAAS Platform as a service :

The provider typically develops toolkit and standards for development and channels for distribution and payment. In the PaaS models, cloud providers deliver a computing platform, typically including operating system, programming-language execution environment, database, and web server. Application developers can develop and run their software solutions on a cloud platform without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software layers. With some PaaS offers like Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Platform and Google App Engine, the underlying computer and storage resources scale automatically to match application demand so that the cloud user does not have to allocate resources manually.

Why Cloud Computing ? Advantages and Disadvantages

So above three are the main typologies that prevails in cloud computing in today's world. So now the question; why do we need cloud computing ? Of course advantages are unlimited. It is very economical to to operate and manage. Scale-ability is almost instantaneous which in traditional setup will be a night mare. The design and architecture of the system is robust and redundant. It is rapidly deploy able by large and medium enterprise and can be scaled up or down according to varying requirements. Upfront costs for IT infrastructure can be minimized by going in pay on use model. Setup and deployment times can be drastically reduced and manageability of large networks increase substantially.

The only disadvantages as of now is that IAAS and PAAS are not deploy able on small scale or may be it seems expensive to lower medium enterprises but you cannot say exactly so as their need for cloud computing at given point in time of their growth may be not so dynamic to deploy cloud based needs. Other most prominent thing is connectivity, and as connectivity fails every transaction and communication form central server is cut off with no access to any resources. But the matter of the fact is that in years to come, this tech is going to propagate more and more to smaller businesses in one or the other way and the potential of growth is immense as connectivity is always going to be better day by day and hardware is going to be cheap day by day, and these factors will attract more and more users to cloud computing for their business needs in days to come.

Yet another budget device from Mi. It belongs to Redmi series of Mi Brand of phones. It will be available on 2nd October 2018 at 12 PM. on Mi Official stores in India. Priced at 10999/- for 3GB and 32 GB of ROM version and 12999/- for 4Gb and 64 GB ROM version. Available in Blue, Black, Red, Gold and Rose gold color variants. Its also available on Amazon India but at some higher price than that of Mi's official store. I am mentioning this here so as any one of you making up your mind to buy one can get some benefit. On Amazon though there is no waiting and its readily available. Though after a while as the supply demand settles the prices will be uniform. Any ways lets get back to our review.

Now lets talk on how the phone stacks up in market with cut throat competition in this category, as there are tonne of options available in this price range with very lucrative features and varying price and performance.

For all those Mi Fans and MI users this is really a great budget phone to have and as you have seen from the specifications that these phone packs in some decent processing power. Does the job for day to day use with ease and its 4000 mAh battery is a real stamina battery and as claimed by company can easily last you two days for lite to moderate usage of course at the end of second day you will be bit worried finding the charger.

Display is clearly visible in sunlight and has 500 nits of brightness. Display of all MI phones is generally good enough and nothing much to complain about it. For all those display notch lovers you are going to have a feast for your eyes as this device has one. Although I don't like notches in display and It's my personal opinion that notch does not increase that much of real estate of screen and it seems a broken bit in continuity of what ever you are watching on display making it a like a dent in brand new car with super fine paint job.

Phone feels lighter as it actually is lighter then redmi note 5 pro. I will suggest you to go for bit further stretching your budget to higher RAM and ROM version as once you buy the phone you are pretty much locked for the amount of internal storage that comes with the phone although you can upgrade it to dedicated memory card slot without sacrificing any sim or dual sim functionality as this feature is real good and as specially in terms of Indian telecom market and Indian users scenario.

The cameras also capture quality images as well as record high-definition videos. Low light camera performance though is not that great but for the price at which the phone is available one cannot afford to demand that feature as Mi does have plethora of devices to sell all at once in a market it plays and so nothing much to complain about it there.

So if you are making your mind to buy one then go ahead and grab one as there is nothing wrong in getting one and you really get right value for what you pay.

NOTE: Don't confuse your self with Redmi Note 6 Pro with one in review is Redmi 6 Pro. One mentioned prior is priced and categorized higher than Redmi series, not yet launched in Indian market and no word on its availability as of now.

Samsung Galaxy A7 as advertised by the company seems to be camera oriented device. Galaxy A7, a mid-range smartphone with outstanding photographic capabilities thanks to no less than three rear-facing cameras and an impressive 24-megapixel, f/2.0 selfie camera.

Amazon mentioned that “went back to the drawing board” when designing the new Echo Dot. The company says it features a larger 1.6-inch driver, is 70 percent louder than the previous model, and much clearer sounding. It retains both Bluetooth and aux output if you want to hook it up to a bigger speaker you've already got.The new Echo Dot costs the same $49.99. Preorders start today, and it ships in October.

Amazon says it has built the ultimate portable device for taking Alexa on the road. The Echo Auto will be available to start on an invite basis for $24.99 before expanding to all customers and jumping in price to $49.99.

The Echo Auto connects to Alexa through your phone and plays over your car’s speakers. It features eight microphones that the company says can make out your voice even over road noise and music. You can do all the usual Alexa commands, and when you ask for directions, the Echo Auto will send you to Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, or whatever your preferred navigation app is.Your car should be smart enough to let Alexa Auto to discover and connect to your car settings, audio, AC, and media center of your Car.

The new, tiny Echo Input is meant to be plugged into speakers you already own; doesn't carry speaker driver unit built in. It contains a far-field microphone array for Alexa commands, but in a put-it-anywhere form factor that is sleeker than even the Dot. In short its Amazon Alexa family device having same smart assistant capabilities without speaker built in. If you own many portable speakers lying around with you and collecting dust then put them all on duty with this Alexa patch. The Echo Input is just 12.5mm tall. Will be available later this year for $34.99.

SECOND-GENERATION ECHO PLUS WITH LOCAL VOICE CONTROL

It has got better sound and, like last year’s model, can act as a hub for your smart home gadgets. There’s also an integrated temperature sensor that can trigger Alexa routines based on a room’s temperature. Priced at the same $149.99, the Echo Plus goes up for preorder today and ships in October.

Amazon also demonstrated new local voice controls that are debuting with the Echo Plus; if your internet goes out, you’ll still be able to control the smart home devices with this speaker. Amazon is starting with “some of the most-used controls like lights” and will expand local voice controls to other devices over time.

Amazon Alexa loaded echo series of speakers are great but the only sown side is that they do not provide rich music experience. This has been solved by Echo Sub, what actually echo sub does is that it pairs with echo or echo plus and spices up the listening experience with rich bass that most echo speakers lack.

SECOND-GENERATION ECHO SHOW

Amazon’s echo show has been improved with a larger screen now with 10 inches and better sound. And similar to the Echo Plus, it can serve as the hub to a smart home. It’s also the best Alexa device when it comes to hearing your voice; As per Amazon, the eight-microphone array in the new Echo Show is the best mic system it has ever shipped.

Amazon is adding web browsers ,including its own Silk browser and Firefox; to the Echo Show. And the company announced a Skype app for the device that will allow users to make video calls directly on the show. In addition to offering the same “drop-in” video chat capabilities as last year.

The second-gen Echo Show will retail for $229.99. Preorders start today and it’ll be available in October.

ALEXA GUARD

Amazon is gradually moving into home security with Alexa Guard. The new feature “integrates Echo devices, smart lights, and security service providers to help customers protect their homes while they’re away.”When Guard is on, Alexa can send you Smart Alerts with audio clips when specific sounds are detected, including breaking glass or smoke or carbon monoxide alarms.

Just set your Echo device to away mode when you’re heading out by saying, “Alexa, I’m leaving,” and Alexa will let you know if your Echo devices detect an unusual sound.

Alexa Guard also has an Away Lighting mode that uses machine learning to turn your smart lights on and off “in patterns that seem natural” to deter house break-ins and robberies.

AMAZON BASICS MICROWAVE

Amazon’s own Amazon Basics brand is putting out a new microwave that takes advantage of the new Alexa Connect Kit, which will also be made available to third-party device makers. The kit “includes a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE module that contains software developed and managed by Amazon; that automatically and securely connects to Amazon-managed cloud services.” There’s no actual microphone in here; the microwave connects to your Echo devices over Bluetooth.

So how does this make a kitchen appliance better, that might be a valid question. The Amazon Basics Microwave includes “dozens of quick-cook voice presets, so you can cook just by asking Alexa.” There’s a built-in Ask Alexa button that you can press and say simple commands like “two minutes and thirty seconds on medium” to speed up the process of heating up your food.

The microwave will cost $59.99 when it ships later this year, and you can preorder beginning today.

ECHO WALL CLOCK

Amazon’s new wall clock is similar to the microwave as mentioned above in the articel. I know, that sounds strange but may be we cant predict market as it may pick up. Clock connects to your Echo speakers over Bluetooth. The big plus here is that you can set timers, alarms, and change the time using your voice and Alexa commands.

AMAZON SONOS MULTI-ROOM AUDIO AND ECHO LINK / LINK AMP

Sonos and Amazon have been working in partnership; Alexa is the voice assistant on the Sonos One and Sonos Beam. But today, Amazon made clear that it wants to make its own multi-room audio functionality much more powerful. Third-party speakers with Alexa will soon be able to be grouped into a whole-home setup same like the Echo speakers can do today.

The Echo Link (above) is “designed to connect to a receiver or amplifier, with multiple digital and analog inputs and outputs for compatibility with your existing stereo equipment.” There are no mics built in here; instead, the Echo Link serves only to “let you control music selection, volume, and multi-room playback on your stereo with your Echo or the Alexa app.”

If you have passive speakers, the Echo Link Amp adds “a built-in 60W 2-channel amplifier” to the equation. These two products are similar in concept to the Sonos Connect and recently announced Sonos Amp.

WI-FI SIMPLE SETUP

Amazon announced what it describes as “a multi-year journey to make setting up all types of electronic devices as easy as plugging them into the wall.” The effort is called Simple Wi-Fi setup . Wi-Fi Simple Setup is part of a larger plan of frustration-free setup, which includes Zigbee setup. Smaller smart home devices won't actually talk directly to your Wi-Fi router. They use lower-frequency signals like Zigbee to help save power, and it looks like Amazon's new setup assistance will help connect those devices as well..

Now, compatible devices will be able to access the Wi-Fi credentials stored on your Amazon products so that they can automatically connect to the internet within seconds of being plugged in. Amazon says its customers have already securely stored more than 100 million Wi-Fi credentials in the “locker.”

AMAZON SMART PLUG

Smart plugs are not something ground breaking many Chinese firms have sold those in millions. This new $24.99 product is exactly what the name suggests: it’s a plug that goes into an outlet and is compatible with Alexa. So you can tell Alexa to turn on or turn off whatever’s plugged into the Smart Plug from wherever you are. And it supports the automatic Wi-Fi setup mentioned above. Preorders start today, and the $24.99 Smart Plug will be available in October.

RING STICK UP CAM

This is yet another Amazon product to foray into home security system.The Ring Stick Up Cam will be offered in both wired and battery-powered configurations both for $179.99. The Stick Up Cam can be used both indoors and out, according to Amazon, marking Ring’s first cameras designed for both environments. They can integrate with the Ring Alarm when used inside the house. The wired variant is up for preordered right away, with the battery Stick Up Cam to arrive in December. Both offer 1080p video, night vision, motion detection, and IPX5 water resistance.

So I studied lot of many TV Boxes and searched for hours as I wanted to get one for me and finally I can recommend you this product. Why Android Box ? Answer is simple first lets compare some of the other products. You can buy Google Chrome Cast but in that you will be limited to just streaming the content form your smart phone to TV and no app store and customization is possible there. Amazon fire stick is also one to be considered but it has its own limitations. First generation TV sticks were slow sluggish and doughy. Media players like Asus o-play series were quiet popular but not after Android boxes so, according to me putting your money in Android TV box is the right way to go. Also 80% of world over devices are running android and you are familiar with the UI and interface except some of the skins slapped on to the devices by manufacturers.

So looking at the specifications it is quiet evident that the box is having enough grunt and computing power to crunch large 4K media files with an ease. The box has to be connected to TV with HDMI connector. It has one SPDIF, Two USB ports, One Micro SD card slot, One gigabit LAN port and a power port on the box.

Automobiles is one sector where in innovation never stops and things keep changing and getting better by every passing day. Since we have been driving cars side view mirrors are mandatory across all the countries of world for you to take your car on to road and drive. There have been quiet a bit of incremental changes in side view mirrors but those were not ground breaking. There are obvious advantages of digital mirrors then those of conventional mirrors. It has got much wider field of view then those of conventional mirrors. ORVMs are integrated as like conventional car. The image quality is said to be average but that is not the point of focus of digital mirrors, at least as of now as it would be better to keep drivers eyes on the road rather then looking at stunning amoled rich and vibrant color display for what going on the back of the car.

It would have been a better that side view mirrors would have been flushed into the car body but going for this conventional approach is to keep the viewpoint we all are accustomed to look at. So there would be lot of enhancements with lot of customization in future for this tech and manufacturers will some day flush and squeeze those protruding traditional looking digital mirrors or ORVMs to the body of car and we would have to adapt ourselves to new viewpoint. Also other enhancements as said earlier like lane merge warning, park assist etc will be refined as the technology of digital mirrors grows mainstream form luxury cars to more affordable cars. In my opinion some thing similar to what happened with touch screen phones which once used to be considered luxury is now main stream and physical keypad phones are now more expensive to manufacture will happen with this digital mirrors. All the hardware and back end infrastructure like low cost low latency sensors and displays are readily available at disposal of automobile manufacturers to make digital side view mirrors more mainstream, affordable and functional for cars of future and for masses.

You might have come across the term IOT, but many of you may not still be aware and clear of what does that actually mean. No worries for those of you who don't know what IOT buzz is all about keep reading. As such if I talk in depth then there is a lot of tech going beneath this IOT and its working.I will be concentrating on easy and lucid way of making you understand IOT tech. The word IOT is termed form Internet of things. As such its not very recent concept but in a way it is. Internet had deeply penetrated into our lives and IOT is you can say is an extension of Internet making in more deep rooted more integrated and making our lives more and more dependent on the power of internet. In IOT the background power or layer of transport is internet and so the term IOT. May be I might be sounding more technical but keep reading its that complicated.

To simplify the things I will start with one simple example, you would have definitely seen one advertise on Indian TV during last summer of Lloyd ACs featuring Shree Amitabh Bachchan. Where in this ad it was highlighted and marketed that the AC was having Wi-Fi capability and you can turn on and off the AC from any where. Hope you recalled that Ad. Now how does that happen that you can remotely do so ? here comes IOT.

Now what happens is that, an manufacturer places a hardware inside of your AC under consideration or any IOT enabled ac say for instance. That hardware has a built in Wi-Fi capability and also accompanied with a dedicated task micro controller, small amount of RAM where in a small program keeps running. Now that hardware is then connected to your home wifi router and through that router it is then hooked up to cloud servers through internet. An mobile application then makes up for an API to control that AC which is also connected to internet and having authentic access to cloud server where in information of your AC hardware connected to your wifi router through internet is stored and matched.

I hope that I have not complicated the Internet of things for you. Like wise many devices in a same home, having that small wifi chip , micro controller, some ram to store program with appropriate piece of software running on it can be hooked up to central server or cloud server and your mobile device is having front end of that server API to control the device.

So all in all this is just one application that I have told you about there are already lot of home appliances like Fridge, TVs, ACs, Washing Machines, Electric Kettles, and the list just goes on in just home appliances category. In background lot of many things like safety, Authentication, privacy,security etc is taken care of for all of those devices connected to cloud servers for IOT.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data,creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.

The number of IoT devices increased 31% year-over-year to 8.4 billion in the year 2017 and it is estimated that there will be 30 billion devices by 2020.The global market value of IoT is projected to reach $7.1 trillion by 2020.

Some of the identified application of IOT are as follows: Medical and Healthcare, Transportation, Building and Home Automation (and example in the article was of home automation), Manufacturing, Agriculture,Energy Management, Environment Monitoring etc.

The company plans to hire 50 young professionals with average age of 25 years for the said project. There are multiple uses of blockchain for company's own uses initially and whether it will be open to mine like Bitcoin or not is not clear at this point of time . DIY electric screw driver

Electric screw drivers are not new any more but seriously speaking I wanted to make one since I was in school. At that time I was using hand cranked manual drill to make holes in PCBs I use to make at home. Since then it was on my mind that how fancy it would be to screw unscrew and tighten and loosen nut-bolts if i had this rotary power converted to do aforesaid tasks. At that time electric drills were available but none of electric drills with variable speed screw unscrew things were present in market. And point of having cordless drills were out of question as the battery technology and motors were not that powerful.

I have placed the image of finished product as above. As I mentioned earlier I had an idea of doing so since childhood days. Finally I got my hands on to 25MM Geared motor which can easily run at about 6 to 12 Volts so the search of driving force was over. Source of power was easy and readily available at my disposal as I am RC pilot and I have had couple of lithium polymer batteries lying with me. Now that only thing that was to be done was to find an enclosure for drive motor, a shaft coupler and a donar screw driver for taking its bit holder apart fixing to motor with coupler and hex bits to make this project into a working screwdriver.

So to my closest vision for screwdriver body shell was to use PVC pipes and with end caps to hold motor in place and house a battery and switching mechanism to forward and reverse the screwdriver; and a push switch to screw unscrew the same. So I carefully marked motor mounting holes on one of the end cap and fixed motor at one end cap. Then I arranged and marked switch layout for direction and cut a square hole on PVC pipe to make it slide nice and snug. I then drilled a hole in the top end cap to place push switch to make a momentary contact while screwing and unscrewing. Then once everything was in place and wired up accordingly, I tested it and the end result of screwing and unscrewing was amazing using 12v Lipo battery.

This is the futuristic forecast by Stanford University economist Tony Seba. The professor's report, with the deceptively bland title Rethinking Transportation 2020-2030, has gone viral in green circles and is causing spasms of anxiety in the established industries.

Mr Seba's premise is that people will stop driving altogether. They will switch to self-drive electric vehicles (EVs) that are 10 times cheaper to run than fossil-based cars, with a near-zero marginal cost of fuel and an expected lifespan of 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers).

Only nostalgics will cling to the old habit of car ownership. The rest will adapt to vehicles on demand. It will become harder to find a petrol station, spares, or anybody to fix the 2000 moving parts that propell the internal combustion engine. Dealers will disappear by 2024.

Cities will ban human drivers once the data confirms how dangerous they can be behind a wheel. This will spread to suburbs, and then beyond. There will be a "mass stranding of existing vehicles". The value of second-hard cars will plunge. You will have to pay to dispose of your old vehicle.It is a twin "death spiral" for big oil and big autos, with ugly implications for some big companies on the London Stock Exchange unless they adapt in time.

The long-term price of crude will fall to $US25 a barrel. Most forms of shale and deep-water drilling will no longer be viable. Assets will be stranded. Scotland will forfeit any North Sea bonanza. Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Venezuela will be in trouble.

It is an existential threat to Ford, General Motors, and the German car industry. "We are on the cusp of one of the fastest, deepest, most consequential disruptions of transportation in history," Mr Seba said. "Internal combustion engine vehicles will enter a vicious cycle of increasing costs."The "tipping point" will arrive over the next two to three years as EV battery ranges surpass 200 miles and electric car prices in the US drop to $US30,000 ($40,600). By 2022, the low-end models will be down to $US20,000. After that, the avalanche will sweep all before it.

"What the cost curve says is that by 2025 all new vehicles will be electric, all new buses, all new cars, all new tractors, all new vans, anything that moves on wheels will be electric, globally," Mr Seba said.

"Global oil demand will peak at 100 million barrels per day by 2020, dropping to 70 million by 2030." There will be oil demand for use in the chemical industries, and for aviation, though Nasa and Boeing are working on hybrid-electric aircraft for short-haul passenger flights. This is just similar to what auto industry witnessed when technology of two stroke was replaced by four stroke two wheeler in countries like India and where Hamara Bajaj was on a prime time Ad. Mr Seba said the residual stock of fossil-based vehicles will take time to clear, but 95 per cent of the miles driven by 2030 in the US will be in autonomous EVs for reasons of costs, convenience, and efficiency. Oil use for road transport will crash from 8 million barrels a day to 1 million.

Insurance costs to fall by 90 per cent

The cost per mile for EVs will be 6.8 cents, rendering petrol cars obsolete. Insurance costs will fall by 90 per cent. The average American household will save $US5600 per year by making the switch. The US government will lose $50 billion a year in fuel taxes. Britain's exchequer will be hit at the same rate.

"Our research and modelling indicate that the $10 trillion annual revenues in the existing vehicle and oil supply chains will shrink dramatically," Mr Seba said.

"Certain high-cost countries, companies, and fields will see their oil production entirely wiped out. Exxon-Mobil, Shell and BP could see 40 per cent to 50 per cent of their assets become stranded," the report said.

These are all large claims, though familiar those on the cutting edge of energy technology. While the professor's timing may be off by a few years, there is little doubt about the general direction.

India is drawing up plans to phase out all petrol and diesel cars by 2032, leap-frogging China in an electrification race across Asia. The brains trust of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a mix of subsidies, car-pooling, and caps on fossil-based cars. The goal is to cut pollution and break reliance on imported oil, but markets will pick up the baton quickly once the process starts.

China is moving in parallel, pushing for 7 million electric vehicles by 2025, enforced by a minimum quota for "new energy" vehicles that shifts the burden for the switch onto manufacturers. "The trend is irreversible," said Wang Chuanfu, head of the Chinese electric car producer BYD, backed by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway.

At the same time, global shipping rules are clamping down on dirty high-sulphur oil used in the cargo trade, a move that may lead to widespread use of liquefied natural gas for ship fuel.

This is all happening much faster than Saudi Arabia and Opec had assumed. The cartel's World Oil Outlook last year dismissed electric vehicles as a fringe curiosity that would make little difference to ever-rising global demand for oil.

It predicted a jump in crude consumption by a further 16.4 million barrels a day to 109 million by 2040, with India increasingly taking over from China as growing market. The cartel said fossils will still make up 77 per cent of global energy use, much like today. It implicitly treated the Paris agreement on climate targets as empty rhetoric.

Whether Opec believes its own claims is doubtful. Saudi Arabia's actions suggest otherwise. The kingdom is hedging its bets by selling off chunks of the state oil giant Saudi Aramco to fund diversification away from oil.

Opec, Russia, and the oil-exporting states are now caught in a squeeze and will probably be forced to extend output caps into 2018 to stop prices falling. Shale fracking in the US is now so efficient, and rebounding so fast, that it may cap oil prices in a range of $US45 to $US55 until the end of the decade. By then the historic window will be closing.

Experts will argue over Mr Seba's claims. His broad point is that multiple technological trends are combining in a perfect storm. The simplicity of the EV model is breath-taking. Self-drive "vehicles on demand" will be running at much higher levels of daily use than today's cars and will last for 500,000 to 1 million miles each.

It has long been known that EVs are four times more efficient than petrol or diesel cars, which lose 80 per cent of their power in heat. What changes the equation is the advent of EV models with the acceleration and performance of a Lamborghini costing five or 10 times less to buy, and at least 10 times less to run.

"The electric drive-train is so much more powerful. The gasoline and diesel cars cannot possibly compete," Mr Seba said. The parallel is what happened to film cameras - and to Kodak - once digital rivals hit the market. It was swift and brutal. "You can't compete with zero marginal costs," he said.

The effect is not confined to cars. Trucks will switch in tandem. Over 70 per cent of US haulage routes are already within battery range, and batteries are getting better each year.

EVs will increase US electricity demand by 18 per cent, but that does not imply the need for more capacity. They will draw power at times of peak supply and release it during peak demand. They are themselves a storage reservoir, helping to smooth the effects of intermittent solar and wind, and to absorb excess base-load from power plants.

Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank England and chairman of Basel's Financial Stability Board, has repeatedly warned that fossil energy companies are booking assets that can never be burnt under the Paris agreement.

He pointed out last year that it took only a small shift in global demand for coal to bankrupt three of the four largest coal-mining companies in short order. Other seemingly entrenched sectors could be just as vulnerable. He warned of a "Minsky moment", if we do not prepare in time, where the energy revolution moves so fast that it precipitates a global financial crisis.

The crunch may be coming even sooner than he thought. The Basel Board may have to add the car industry to the mix. There will be losers. Whole countries will spin into crisis. The world's geopolitical order will be reshaped almost overnight. But humanity as a whole should enjoy an enormous welfare gain.

So in early days there use to be only one mobile tower in entire city and just about 8 to 32 channels means maximum 32 simultaneous calls. So this limited the usage of mobile phones. If more number of mobile towers were installed then there use to be an interference of frequency of channels that adjacent tower was carrying. So in order to solve this problem the concept of frequency reuse was introduced and here comes the concept of cells of mobile towers as shown in picture. These cells have different frequencies for adjacent cells and same frequencies are reused in farther cells. The concept was like instead of using one high transmitting power mobile tower , use number of low power multiple towers that are ideally of the shape of hexagon and these hexagons are called cells. So from these concept of frequency reuse and splitting mobile towers to small cells comes the term CELL PHONE.

From the introduction of these cells of mobile towers, there are certain rules that adjacent cells always have different frequency hence the problem of frequency interference is solved also the same frequency is reused in towers located father then at least one cell. So is the concept of frequency reuse as shown in figure F1, F2 F3 are various frequencies and how they are planned to use in one cell is reused in farther cells. Also these group of cells is called cluster. As you are travelling from one place to another with your mobile device it keeps switching between various cells and you remain connected to mobile network through virtual cells of towers and lot of other processes like hand off takes place while switching form one cell to another. Wall mounted wireless charger for all devices in a room

Wireless charges have been there for quite a bit but this tech innovation seems very promising !!!!

The technology to charge devices without plugging them in is getting almost mainstream into our garages, living rooms and even the furniture itself, but most of these systems require close proximity to the power source or transmitting coil. The tools to take wireless charging to the next level already exist, though, according to a new paper that outlines how an LCD-like panel could be used to charge several devices simultaneously from a distance of up to 10 meters (33 ft). That sound interesting isn't it ?

Existing systems mostly work through induction. The charging panel contains a coil of wire, and as a current flows through that coil, it generates a magnetic field strong enough to induce a similar current in a nearby coil – say, one that's incorporated into a phone, toothbrush or electric car. The problem with these is that the efficiency of these kind of charge transfers drop drastically, meaning the device needs to stay in contact with, or at least very close to, the transmitting coil. The pros is that while there's no need to actually plug in, you're still effectively tethered to the charging source.

Our proposed system would be able to automatically and continuously charge any device anywhere within a room, making dead batteries a thing of the past." says David Smith, professor at Duke University and one of the authors of the paper.

Now what is there in here? lets find out.The new system would stretch that range by making use of higher microwave frequencies, and focus the waves towards a device in a room by running them through a flat, LCD-like panel. That panel would be made of a metamaterial that already allows experimental Toyota vehicles to communicate with satellites through a flat "antenna" on the roof.

In this case, each cell in that metamaterial could be tuned to manipulate the electromagnetic wave as desired, which can focus the beams of energy from a wall-mounted panel the size of a TV down to something as small as a smartphone, anywhere in the room. The system will be capable of charging multiple devices at once, and work at a distance of up to 10 m, twice the range of the KAIST system. The Cota system comes close, reaching 9 m (30 ft), but since it's based on phased array technology, it's likely too expensive and power-hungry for home use.

Of course, the proposed system comes with its own hurdles and cons. The electromagnetic energy source behind the panel would need to be developed to balance power, cost and efficiency, and the metamaterial would need to be optimized to best focus the beams of energy without creating secondary "ghost" signals. And while the beams are considered safe for human exposure, the system will still need to turn itself off if someone walks between the panel and the device. But, the team says, these problems aren't deal breakers.

"All of these issues are possible to overcome — they aren't roadblocks," says Smith. "We actually came up with some nice analytical formulas for coverage areas and efficiencies that would be possible. I think building a system like this, which could be embedded in the ceiling and wirelessly charge everything in a room, is a very feasible scheme convenient and fascinating. Moreover, there are versions of the concept that can deliver larger power over much larger distances."

Here's what Google learnt after extensive testing of its much hyped and cute looking autonomous car

Google first revealed that it was working on self-driving tech way back in 2010. At the time, its autonomous vehicles had covered just 140,000 mi (225,300 km), but had already been able to tackle San Francisco's busy and tricky Lombard Street, cross the Golden Gate Bridge and circumnavigate Lake Tahoe.

Google's self-driving vehicles have now already been driven over two million miles ( 3.2 million km) on public roads and, as you might expect, the first million looked very different than the second. Freeways, light traffic and simple intersections have given way to complex city streets, advanced road craft and social cues.

In an article released previously, Google's head of self-driving tech Dmitri Dolgov explained that these sort of achievements came pretty quickly. "That's because it's relatively easy to master the first 90 percent of driving where you're traveling on freeways, navigating light city-street traffic, or making your way through simple intersections," said Dolgov. "But to create a truly self-driving car that can do all the driving, we knew we'd need experience in more challenging and interesting situations."

To gain the right kind of experience - that so-called final 10 percent - Google has its cars spend most of their time today on what Dolgov calls "complex city streets." In these environments, they are said to have become better at detecting obstacles – such as emergency vehicles, construction zones and closed lanes – and responding accordingly.

The more the cars have driven themselves around and uncovered a range of situations, the more Google has learned. Dolgov suggests that the second million miles has helped Google's cars learn how to deal with even out-of-the-ordinary situations, with a uni cycling couple and cars driving the wrong way among those it has encountered.

The cars are also said to have become better at understanding the nuances of human driving and predicting what other drivers are likely to do, based on what Dolgov characterizes as the "delicate social dance" and "silent conversations" of road users. Here, he is referring to the subtle ways in which we indicate our intentions to each other – such as by positioning ourselves to change lanes – that may be obvious to human drivers but much harder for autonomous vehicles to recognize and interpret.

In turn, one of the skills that Google's cars have learned is how to drive more smoothly. This makes their very movement safer and, of course, improves the experience for vehicle occupants. In addition, it communicates to other road users that the "driver" of the car is competent and in control.

This last point is particularly prescient given the news that California has revised its laws to allow self-driving cars without pedals or a steering wheels to be tested on certain roads. Google had previously been put out by the state's insistence that autonomous vehicles must have an operator able to take control if need be. As the rules are gradually relaxed, though, and the likes of Google continue to clock up autonomous miles, the once far-fetched idea of reading the news while your car ferries you to work becomes ever closer to reality.
