Wonderful Mozilla Open Web Tools Directory

There are lot of tools created that help web developers. However, it is very hard keep track of these tools. So how would it be if there is a centralized index where you can go and look for these tools. With this thought in mind Mozilla has created a GUI based web index that is good looking and easy to use.

Mozilla says,

As we’ve explored different tools we could create here as part of the Developer Tools Lab, we’ve come to the opinion that in addition to creating new tools, one of the best things we could do is help developers understand the broad universe of tools that already exist and expose some of the fantastic and amazing work that’s being done.

The Open Web tools Mozilla Directory is built for modern browser like Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, Chrome 2, or Opera 9. There might be some issues with IE for which Mozilla tools directory offers a link based simple tool directory.

At the moment there are only few tools available, however Mozilla is actively working to add more. You too can contribute to the directory in case you are relevant to other tools that are amiss on Mozilla web developers tool directory. They have prepared a data entry form for you to use to submit a tool, go ahead help yourself, Open Web Tools .

Twitter is an effective tool to keep your friends, relatives closer and also make new friends. However people have come up with innovative ideas like using twitter to improve business. How?

Don't under-estimated the power of 140 character or less, the length of a tweet. The restaurants are posting tweets on daily specials and offers to attract the followers to the restaurant. One customer said, she follows few interesting restaurants on twitter like Meyers + Chang, and goes in if there is something interesting in the tweet.

A normal ad cannot bring that personal touch like a tweet. It generates personal interest and builds a long lasting relationship between the business and the customer. Tweeting back and forth helps the restaurant to know details regarding what was liked and what wasn't, helping the business in taking a right decision.

What an innovative idea!!

UpComing! Yahoo Messenger for IPhone

Apple's 3.0 Operating system has come out for IPhone. One of the cool feature on IPhone is push notifications. It is actually an IPhone application that alerts you about on some events even though you aren't running it, something similar to the way mail App on IPhone alerts you when you receive a mail.

On similar lines Yahoo! Messenger for IPhone will notify you when a new IM message arrives even if you are not running the application. The Yahoo! push notification is not yet ready, however yahoo is aggressively working on it to roll it out soon. Waiting to have it on your phone?

YouTube to Have New Channels Design. Coming Soon

Couple of months ago, YouTube redesigned the channel and tested it in beta via a secret link, which most of the YouTube user discovered. Based on the feedback provided by those users, YouTube is building a stronger and faster channels design that is being tested to be released soon.

YouTube is at the final stage and is expected roll out the new channels design to more users. Starting today, all new accounts will automatically have the new version of channels. Beware, existing accounts will have the new themes automatically by July 15 2009. Here's a video that show how a theme looks, and how you can get started:
