If this database is corrupted, your computer can’t use the RAM properly, leading to a BSOD. Other reasons for this occurrence are corrupted system files, faulty hard drives, hardware problems, etc. If you recently encountered this error, here’s what you should do.

1. Update your Windows 11

You should keep the operating system up to date to enjoy the latest security patches, better stability, and new features.

To update Windows 11, navigate to Settings > Windows Update. On the right side, click on Check for Updates.

8. Disable the RAM Overclocking

If you still get the error, the most likely culprit is the bad RAM that has been overclocked beyond the maximum limit.

You should disable the XMP profile applied to the RAM and see if it helps. If you’re using any software to overclock or underclock the hardware, it’s best to revert the changes.

If you’ve just booted your PC and saw a notification that says ‘Scan drive for errors’, your PC was improperly powered down and is checking its health upon boot. An improper shutdown can lead to data corruption and even damage to the HDD/SSD. This error could also be a sign that your hard drive is failing. Here’s what you can do to get rid of this notification.

1. Run the CHKDSK Scan via CMD

To fix all types of hard drive-related problems, run the CHKDSK scan. There are multiple ways to run the chkdsk command; the easiest is using the command prompt.

1. Click on the Windows 11 search and type in Command Prompt. Right-click on the Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. Execute the command:

chkdsk /x:

Important: Replace x with the name of the drive you want to scan.

3. Wait for a few seconds until the scan completes. Once completed, you need to scan the hard drive for bad sectors. For that, execute this command:

chkdsk /r x:

Important: Replace x with the name of the drive you want to scan.

2. Run the Check Disk utility via File Explorer

If you find the command prompt method complicated, you can run the check disk utility right from the File Explorer. Here’s how to do it.

1. Open File Explorer on your Windows 11 PC.

2. Right-click on the drive you want to scan and select Properties.

This will run the Check Disk utility on your Windows 11 computer. Wait for a few seconds until the scan completes. Once completed, restart your computer.

3. Run Antivirus/Malware Scan

Malware or viruses also create problems with the workability of hard disk drives. If the chkdsk command fails to fix your problem, you should run a full antivirus scan.

If you don’t have an antivirus program, you can use the Windows Security app to run a full virus scan. Or else, you can download & install third-party antivirus software to find and remove viruses, malware, PUPs, and keyloggers from your PC.

4. Run a SMART Test

S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology, and it tells you about the condition of your hard drive. With the S.M.A.R.T. test, you will know whether your hard drive is dying.

1. Click on the Windows 11 search and type in Command Prompt. Right-click the Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. Type in the command and press Enter.

wmic diskdrive get status

3. The SMART test will return with a Status result. If the status shows Ok, your hard drive has no problem. However, if it returns with a BAD or UNKNOWN status, it indicates a failing hard drive.

This is how you can run the SMART test in Windows 11. If you got the BAD or Unknown in the SMART test, a professional must check your hard drive.

5. Perform a system restore

System Restore will probably replace the corrupted system files and incorrect settings, which might fix the problem.

1. Click on the Windows 11 search and type in Recovery.

3. Click Display.

4. Scroll down and find the Related Settings section. Click on Advanced Display.

5. On the Advanced Display page, choose a refresh rate option and select the Dynamic option to enable the DRR feature.

This will enable the dynamic refresh rate on your compatible Windows 11 computer. If you cannot find the Dynamic option, you have incompatible hardware. To turn off the Dynamic Refresh rate, navigate to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display. On the Advanced display page, choose a regular refresh rate such as 60Hz or 120Hz.

Unable to Select Dynamic Refresh Rate?

Dynamic refresh rate will only work on laptops with a minimum 120Hz refresh rate. If your monitor doesn’t meet that requirement, you won’t be able to find or change the dynamic refresh rate.

If your display meets the requirements but still can’t select Dynamic refresh rate, you may have problem with the graphics driver. To enable the dynamic refresh rate, you can try installing the WDDM 3.0 graphics driver.

Dynamic Refresh Rate is mainly designed for laptops, as it helps to preserve battery life. However, if you are experiencing display issues after enabling the feature, you must disable it. If you have any doubts, let us know in the comment box below.

The ‘Your device ran into a problem and couldn’t be repaired’ error generally appears when the Startup Repair fails. If you’ve seen the same screen, here’s what you should do to fix it.

1. Run the Startup Repair Manually

Even if the first attempt failed, you should run the Startup Repair again. Here are the correct steps to run it.

Force shut down your PC 3 or 4 times to enter the Recovery Mode.

On the Troubleshoot screen, select Advanced Options.

On the Advanced Options, select Startup Repair.

This will run the Startup Repair. This will run and resolve all boot problems.

2. Run the Check Disk Utility

File system errors, bad sectors, and data corruption are other reasons for this problem. Hence, you should run the Check Disk utility as well.

Move to the Advanced Options in Recovery Mode.

Then, select Command Prompt.

On the Command Prompt, enter this command: chkdsk C: /f /r

You should wait until the scan completes. Once completed, restart your device.

3. Run the System File Checker Utility

To rule out the possibility of system file corruption, you should run the SFC command in Recovery Mode.

Enter the recovery mode and navigate to the Advanced Options.

On the Advanced Options, select Command Prompt.

Then, type this command and press Enter: sfc /scannow

4. Wait for a few seconds for the scan to complete. Once completed, restart your PC.

4. Use System Restore

For many Reddit users, using the system restore option is helpful. Basically, you will have to use a restore point recovered on your PC to restore Windows.

In Recovery Mode, move to the Advanced options.

Next, select System Restore.

Select a restore point before the problem.

Then, follow the instructions to complete the system restore.

5. Run Windows in Safe Mode

You will have to restart your PC, then boot into the Windows Recovery Environment. Once you boot into the WinRE, follow these simple steps to fix the error.

Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.

Press F5 or F3 and select Safe Mode with Networking.

This will boot your Windows, and you may see the ‘Finishing Updates’ screen. This may be the reason you got the ‘Device ran into a problem and couldn’t be repaired.’ error.

Some users have reported encountering the error when logging in to their Spotify accounts. The complete error message states:

“A firewall may be blocking Spotify. Please update your firewall to allow Spotify. Additionally, you could try changing the currently used proxy settings (Error code:auth:3)”

This problem generally appears due to Firewall, if it appears, here’s what you should do.

1. Restart your computer

Maybe Spotify is showing you the error message because of a bug or glitch, and you don’t have anything wrong.

If you don’t use any VPN/Proxy service, it’s best to restart your computer. To restart a Windows computer, click the Windows Start button > Power option and select Restart.

After the restart, open the Spotify desktop app and log in to your account.

2. Turn off the VPN

While there’s an option to modify the Proxy settings on the Spotify desktop client, if you are using a VPN, you need to keep it disabled.

When you connect to a VPN, the Spotify client attempts to connect to a server in a different region. If the server is far from your location, the desktop client will fail to connect and show you the error message.

So, if you are using a VPN program on your Windows computer, it’s best to disconnect it for a while and check.

3. Allow Spotify Through Firewall

You should manually allow Spotify through the Windows Firewall. Here’s what you should do.

1. Open the Firewall & Network Protection from Windows Search.

2. Paste the command and press Enter.

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

Here’s what you should do to resolve this error.

1. Configure Power Options in the Local Group Policy Editor

You should configure these things in the Local Group Policy Editor.

5. After making the changes, click Apply and OK.

2. Edit Windows Registry to Fix the Power Option error

If you still get the error, you need to make these changes to the Windows Registry.

1. Open Registry Editor from the Windows Search.

After making the changes, restart your computer. This will probably fix the ‘There are currently no power options available’ error message.

3. Fix Corrupted System Files

As mentioned above, corrupted system files also trigger the error message. To fix the corrupted system files, you should run the System File Checker utility.

1. Click on the Windows search and type in Command Prompt. Right-click on CMD and select Run as administrator.

3. Wait until the command fixes your corrupted system files.

The process may take time to complete, depending on the number of corrupted files. You need to wait patiently until it is completed. Once it has been completed, restart your PC.

4. Restore the Default Power Plan via CMD

You can use CMD to restore the default power plan. This could be helpful as well.

1. Click on the Windows search and type in Command Prompt. Right-click on the CMD and select Run as administrator.

2. Paste the command and hit Enter.

powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

3. This will immediately restore the default power plan.

This is how you can use Command Prompt to fix the ‘There are currently no power options available’ error message.

5. Run the Power Troubleshooter

You also have a dedicated power troubleshooter that you can run to resolve various power options errors.

3. Scroll down and find Power. Click the Run button beside Power to run the Power Troubleshooter.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

After the Power Troubleshooter completes the process, restart your PC to apply the changes. After the restart, you will get back your Power options.

6. Use System Restore Point

If you encounter problems with power options after installing an app or update, you should roll back to your device’s previous state.

On Windows, you can roll back to a previous restore point. So, if you have the restore point enabled, you can roll back to the state when the Power options are available.

We have shared a detailed guide on creating a restore point in Windows. If you have a restore point, open Windows Search and type “Recovery”. Next, open the Recovery app and follow the on-screen instructions to roll back to the previous restore point.

7. Install the Windows Updates

Although Microsoft installs the Windows updates on your device in the background, it’s still recommended to check for available updates. The error may be caused by a bug that has already been fixed in the latest version.

Head to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates on the right side. Windows will automatically check for updates and install them.

8. Reset Your Windows PC

If everything fails, restoring your Windows operating system to its default factory settings is the last remaining option. When you reset your Windows PC, all user-made settings will be set to default. It will also reset your power options and power plan configurations.

When it comes to the system reset, you have two options. The first lets you keep your files, and the second removes everything. Pick your selection carefully while you reset your Windows PC. Alternatively, you can follow our guide: Reset Windows PC.

We will use the Windows File Explorer to find out if your PC has an HDD or an SSD. The steps are the same for both Windows 10 and 11.

1. Open File Explorer on your Windows.

2. Right-click on the C drive and select Properties.

3. Select Tools.

4. On the Optimise and defragment the drive, click Optimise.

5. The next Window will list all drives. The media type column will show whether you have an SSD or HDD.

2. Using PowerShell

You can also use PowerShell to determine whether your PC has an HDD or an SSD.

1. Open Windows Search and search for PowerShell. Open PowerShell from the list

2. Type in Get-PhysicalDisk and press Enter.

3. The above command will list all physical disks connected to your computer. The media type section will show whether your PC has an HDD or an SSD.

If it shows more than two disk drives, your PC probably has both.

3. Using a Freeware App

Another good way to figure out whether the drive is SSD or HDD on Windows is to use the Freeware programs. Many freeware utilities on the web can provide information about HDD/SSD.

Some popular tools, such as HWiNFO, HiBit System Information, etc., tell you whether an SSD or HDD is installed on your device.

This article explains how to check whether your Windows PC has an HDD or an SSD. I hope this article helped you! Please share it with your friends.

After installing the latest Windows updates, certain programs may not work, such as qBittorrent. qBittorrent users on Reddit reported that the torrent client cannot download files; sometimes the client doesn’t open, etc. If you have been facing the same problem, here’s what you should do.

1. Restart your PC

Restarting is important after installing an update because there is a lot of finalization work done in the background.

If you haven’t restarted your computer after installing the latest update, restart it and then try downloading files from qBittorrent.

2. End Task qBittorrent from the Task Manager

The next best thing you can do is to end all qBittorrent processes in the background. This will ensure that the services run by qBittorrent are free from bugs and glitches.

Open the Task Manager and find the qBittorrent process. Once you find it, right-click on it and select End Task.

3. Turn off the VPN

The VPN server you’re connected to may be overcrowded, which can lead to a slow download speed or the download being unable to start.

Although it’s not a good idea to turn off the VPN while torrenting, you can temporarily do so. If you can’t turn off the VPN, switch to a different server location and check if the torrent client starts downloading the files.

4. Select the Network Interface in qBittorrent Settings

You can try selecting your network connection from the Network Interface settings of the qBittorrent client.

1. Launch the qBittorrent client on your PC.

2. Navigate to Tools > Options.

3. Switch to Advanced.

4. Click the drop-down next to the Network Interface and select your current network adapter.

5. If you have a VPN, select your VPN network adapter on the Network Interface.

5. Whitelist qBittorrent on Windows Defender Firewall

After the Windows 11 update, you need to add qBittorrent to the exception list on the Defender firewall as well.

1. Open the Windows Defender Firewall app from the Windows Search.

2. Click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall on the left side.

4. Check the Private and Public checkboxes for qBittorrent and click OK.

6. Uninstall & Run qBittorrent Installer as Administrator

If the problem is still not fixed, you need to reinstall the qBittorrent client.

Open the Control Panel on your Windows 11 PC.

When the Control Panel opens, find and uninstall the qBittorrent client.

Once uninstalled, right-click on the qBittorrent setup file and select Run as administrator.

Let’s say you want to use Windows XP on your VirtualBox. To do so, you must create a virtual machine that can run Windows XP effortlessly. You must allocate enough RAM, CPU cores, Video Memory, and other resources to run Windows XP smoothly on the VM.

Download & Install VirtualBox on PC

The first step is downloading and installing VirtualBox on a PC. VirtualBox is available for all operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Follow our guide: Download & Install VirtualBox to install the software package on your computer.

How to Create Virtual Machines with VirtualBox

Important: We will use a Windows XP ISO file to demonstrate creating a virtual machine. You must follow the same steps for other ISO files you want to install on a virtual machine.

1. Download and install VirtualBox on your computer.

2. Open it from the Start Menu or the desktop shortcut.
