Most of those services have apps designed for iPhone and/or Android phones, and though those apps usually aren’t for free, many people are ready to give a small amount of a monthly fee to get access to a huge number of songs that can be streamed straight to your phone.

1. Spotify

Spotify is one of the most famous mobile music servers in the world, and though it has been available in many countries for several years already, it came to the U.S. only last year. The subscription fee is $10 per month, but in exchange for this not that big sum you’ll get the opportunity to listen to all the music available on the server – all the songs will be streamed to your smartphone (Android or iOS-based) at 320kbps.

2. Rhapsody

Rhapsody isn’t as famous as Spotify, but its library contains more than 14 million songs, so most likely you’ll find there anything you want. The monthly fee is the same as in case of Spotify ($10), but you can also choose the premium account ($15 per month), which will give you the opportunity to use the same account on three different devices simultaneously. And if you’re not sure if you want this app or not, there is a trial version that can be used for 14 days.

3. Grooveshark

Grooveshark is the next music server for smartphones, and unlike the previous ones, it’s available worldwide. Another nice feature of the app is that you don’t have to download and install it, you can just listen to your favorite songs via their web browser interface. There are two types of subscriptions for this app, and they both cost $9: the premium Grooveshark Plus will remove the annoying ads, while Grooveshark Anywhere will give you unlimited access to the app and its huge library.

4. Rdio

If you’re a social networking fan, you’ll like the Rdio app, which is a really cool audio streaming service with some kind of social twist – you can listen to the songs your friends are listening to or listen to something from the library of the app that contains more than 10 million songs. The subscription will cost you $15 per month anyway.

Again, iTunes offers the iPhone version of the app, and Google Play has the Android version.

5. Pandora

The last mobile music server I’d like to talk about is Pandora. I think it’ll be loved by… no, not by the fans of James Cameron’s Avatar! By radio fans. The app is something like an online radio – you can choose a song you like, and it will make a playlist of similar songs for you. Pandora is one of the few music apps that can be used for free (and one of my most favorite ones, too!), but you can pay $4 per month to remove the ads and to increase the quality and the bitrate of the songs you’re listening to.
