That's right! Teich Garden Systems has recently completed our first installation in beautiful New England. Our 12 x 16 garden system will provide an abundance of fresh veggies with no worries about critters enjoying the harvest before our customers do!

Greens Farms Academy debuts its new Teich School Garden System!

We recently completed installation of another of our wonderful school garden systems at Greens Farms Academy in Westport CT. The 32 x 40 garden will be used as an outdoor classroom for the entire school community to enjoy. Greens Farms had their first planting day yesterday, October 19th using nursery stock that we provided from our own Upstate New York organic grower. The kids planted lettuces, kale, chicory, and collards that they will be harvesting very shortly. All of the kids had a great time planting and were excited about their new garden. Jamie assisted with the planting day and spoke to the kids about all of the features that the garden offers. When Jamie was talking about the structure standing over 7 feet tall he asked who knew what type of animal would not be able to get in. One little boy raised his hand and said "I know, I know.....Mice!"

New Teich Garden opens at The Garden Education Center of Greenwich!

Okay so it was a monsoon. But that did not dampen the spirits of all involved with the Harvest Moon festival at the Garden Education Center of Greenwich located in Cos Cob Ct. There was pumpkin decorating, music, good healthy food and good company. While the festival was in full swing everybody came down to the site of the new Teich Garden System to participate in the ribbon cutting.

Fulton Houses in lower Manhattan has a new Good Food Garden!

Well...it's done. The Good Food Garden that just a few days ago was the object of so much attention at the corner of 9th Ave and 14th St in NYC has been relocated to the Fulton Houses. Located on W. 17th St the facility is home to over 3000 residents. Many residents stopped by during the installation and were excited at the prospect of having such a wonderful new garden on the premises.

On a sad note, one of the children who had volunteered to help tend the garden and was anxiously awaiting it's arrival was killed this past weekend in a horrific car crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway. The garden will be dedicated to 11 year old Leandra Rosado's memory.

Our thoughts are with Leandra's family.

With all of the installations going in this Summer and now into Fall we have definitely fallen behind in our blogging, we will try to keep updating it more often. We just completed a garden installation in what is now our 9th state with many more to come! Our Teich School Garden Systems are becoming increasingly popular with schools and other educational institutions ranging from nursery schools on up. Even college gardens are now on the horizon!

Our partnership with the Food Network and Share Our Strength has allowed TGS to grow into new markets and exciting new projects. The Good Food Gardens concept and brand has gained a lot of momentum and is now represented in many different places, each with its own story to tell. It's incredible to see the effect that the GFG's have on neighborhoods that are lacking a source of fresh, healthy food and the impact they make on the surrounding communities. 2010 promises to be an incredible year for the GFG line!

Our residential line is also thriving and keeping us very busy. As we expect in all of the school gardens we are installing the kids themselves end up being our best salespeople! Excited children are going home saying "I love our garden at school! Can we please get a garden too?" Then we get a call and another residential garden is born into a welcoming family!

Again, our apologies for the lack of recent posts. I do believe we are caught up now for this current week. And if you see the TGS/Good Food Gardens vehicles racing around your neighborhood at all hours of the day or night please understand...there are a lot of gardens to build out there!

Good Food Garden opens at NYC Harlem Children's Zone!

We were honored to be a part of the Grand Opening of the new Good Food Garden at the Harlem Children's Zone located at 125th St. & Madison Ave in NYC. The inspiring facility serves over 10,000 children in a 100 block radius of Harlem. Our Good Food Garden was part of the Fun & Fit as a Family event that took place this past weekend. The garden was installed on the 5th floor roof and will give the folks at the Zone an incredible amount of growing space. Chef Andrew and the kids did an amazing job of planting all of the lettuce, peas, Swiss chard etc. For the Grand Opening groups of students were brought up to the garden which included a composting station, a worm farm and a tasting station. All of the kids were excited about their new garden and they look forward to their upcoming harvest!

GFG on display in NYC on 14th St. & 9th Ave. with Aida Mollenkemp from Food Network

A 12 x 20 Good Food Garden was on display this past weekend as part of the Food Network's NYC Wine and Food Festival. The garden was installed at the intersection of 14th St. & 9th Ave and boy did it ever draw attention! People literally did double takes when they came across the lush green garden that had appeared in the middle of one of New York's busiest areas. Lots of folks stopped by to chat with us and to praise the Good Food Garden initiative. Many realize the need to raise awareness in both children and adults about healthy eating and agree that the Good Food Gardens are a wonderful vehicle with which to do this. People were sorry to hear that the garden was only a temporary display and was not a permanent fixture on 14th St. After we broke the garden down for transport and were loading it in the truck Jamie overheard one couple in conversation. The wife was saying "Henry I swear to you not two hours ago there was a beautiful garden standing right in this spot!" When she asked Jamie if he was involved with the garden he had a little fun and said "What garden?" He then reassured her that she wasn't losing her mind and that the garden was being re-installed at the Fulton Houses on 17th St.

A passerby commented that at first he thought it was an illusion. Right smack dab in the middle of 9th ave & 14th there is a thriving vegetable and herb garden! The Good food Garden is part of the food network's Wine & Food Festival taking place in Manhattan's Meat Packing district this Friday thru Sunday. After the festival the garden will be dismantled and re-installed at the Fulton Houses for all to enjoy!

Garden Education Center of Greenwich has a new Teich Garden System!

Congratulations to the Garden Education Center of Greenwich in Cos Cob Ct. on the recent installation of their brand new Teich Garden System! The 16 x 32 model complete with pergola will serve as a learning center for members of the gardening center. Kudos to Nancy and Lisa for their hard work in bringing this garden to life! A Good Food Garden makes its debut at the Joseph Arthur Middle School in O'Fallon IL!

As a winner of the Reader's Digest Nationwide contest, Joseph Arthur Middle School was the recent recipient of a 12 x 20 Good Food Garden. The school located in O'Fallon, IL has a gardening program already in place and the entire school community is abuzz about their new garden!

Brookside Elementary debuts new school garden!

We are always honored when we are invited to attend the grand opening of one of our school garden systems. Last Friday Brookside Elementary School in Yorktown Heights had their first planting day in their brand new 16 x 32 Teich School Garden System. District officials, teachers, parents and excited students made the day a huge success. One of the highlights of the morning was the cutting of the ribbon across the door to officially open the new garden, while a band played "Let the sunshine in" and the entire school community joined in.

We recently installed one of our Good Food Gardens at the ArtSpace Charter School located in beautiful Asheville NC. The school was a winner of the Reader's Digest nationwide contest and now has a wonderful 12 x 20 garden for all to enjoy.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Community Center in Colorado Springs CO is home to a new Good Food Garden! The center was one of 5 winners selected by Reader's Digest, Share Our Strength and Food Network to receive an awesome new garden for the entire school community to enjoy!

Seven Bridges Middle School has a new Teich School Garden System!

We recently completed the installation of a 32 x 40 Teich School Garden System at Seven Bridges Middle School, in Chappaqua, NY. The two-tiered garden is situated on a steep slope with universal access available on the lower level.
TGS will be supplying the school with fall starter vegetable plants so that the students will be able to have a planting day upon their return to school. A quick growing crop will allow for a Harvest Day in the fall. Enjoy your new garden 7B!

When we first met Brianna, Taylor, and Alexandra we knew they were a determined bunch who were going to make things happen! What a wonderful example of how a garden can transform an entire community. Teich School Garden Systems grow & grow over the summer months!

We recently paid a visit to one of our favorite school gardens at the Robert Bell Middle School in Chappaqua, NY. Even though the school is closed for the summer the garden is growing beautifully and the kids are going to have an amazing harvest when school starts. The healthy soil, landscape mulch, built in irrigation system complete with timer, and the critter proof fencing allows our gardens to thrive virtually unattended. Imagine the kids faces when they return in a few weeks to see how their garden has grown! And as for their upcoming harvest day, I hope they are hungry! Nice job Robert Bell Middle School Gardeners!

On August 12th we were proud to be present at the grand opening of another Good Food Garden. The garden is located at the Center for Community & Family Services at the Arroyo Head Start Center in Altadena, CA. This is the first in the series of GFG's to be sponsored by Weight Watchers. The kids, staff, and invited guests had a ball planting all of the beautiful starter vegetable plants and now the kids are looking forward to their upcoming harvest!

Honored guests included Weight Watchers President David Kirchhoff, Lose for Good spokeswoman Jenny McCarthy, and Billy Shore, Founder and CEO of Share our Strength. Of the many news media covering the event the highlight was Access Hollywood's correspondent Maria Menounos on scene to cover the opening of the garden.

The Good Food Garden which has been growing since late June is thriving at the New York Botanical Gardens. This beautiful garden is located in the courtyard at Sleepy Hollow High School for everyone in the school to see daily. TGS has begun working with several of our partners to produce a wonderful new line of organic and natural botanical soaps, candles, and other household products. In response to our customers requests we will be using the certified organic seedlings produced by our nursery partner, Sliver Heights Farms, to create the purest products available.

We will be launching our new brand TBC in the fall of 2009. Look for our products in local stores and they will be available online on our website.

We are in the process of constructing our new website www.teichbotanicalcollection.com and we are looking forward to the launch of the new Teich Botanical Collection later this year. We want to thank all of you who have inspired us to launch this line, you know who you are so we just want to say thank you for paving the way.
