Mini Family Reunion At Cheng Maju Restaurant

Months ago (yeah...it took me this long to blog about it) my family and our relatives had a mini reunion dinner at Cheng Maju Restaurant which is just a stone throw away from our home. Altogether I think they were 15 of us. We "checked in" around 7.30pm and all of us were very excited. All of us were gleaming to see each other. It's not always that we could sit together and see eyes to eyes while enjoying our food. I feel like a young bubbly kiddo again when we dined.

We waited for the chef to approached us and placed our orders. Actually...we didn't have to crack our brains trying to figure out what to eat. We asked the chef to chose the food on our behalf which he willingly did because...he is my cousin. LOL :D The food landed on our tables almost instantaneously as there were no other customers to be served as it was still early. There were 6 mouth watering dishes to wallop that day. We had a pleasant surprise as two of the dishes were totally alien to us, or at least to me.

Awww...it was such a pleasant feeling to be able to join my relatives and family to have a reunion dinner, albeit a mini one. The seniors were ecstatic to see the young ones joining them to have a feast. My daddy, uncle and aunty were beaming. Their faces and flashes of smiles said it all. Ok, now let us talk about the food shall we? Are you ready? Where's your fork and spoon?

I thought the food is absolutely delicious. 2 thumbs up for all the finger licking good dishes especially the pork ribs with salted eggs. The steamed lady fingers were very special too as it was the first I have seen them almost intact without being sliced in a dish. I wish we could have more family gatherings like this. I am sure we can have more in the future. The next time we have our family reunion, my little Jordan will be joining the the fray to feast all those glorious food. But really...it is all about us, being together as a family, to bond. :)

We Miss Our Little Jordan

He left us this morning...when I came back...I couldn't see my little Jordan in his baby cot anymore. I felt really sad that I couldn't catch a glimpse of my baby when I stepped into the house. My wife was leaning on his baby cot...staring at the empty baby cot. She was crying...she told me she missed our little Jordan very, very much. I was instantly saddened too. A lump appeared in my throat...I almost broke into tears at the sight of my wife. We missed our little Jordan a lot...

Do you know where had my little Jordan been?

He was not in his cot this morning...

Our little Jordan left us early in the morning to be taken care by the baby sitter. Ha :D Yes, he is almost two months old already and my wife will resume her job soon. So we have to send him to the babysitter as both our moms are no longer around to help us take care of our little Jordan. For the past 2 months, every day after I reached home...my little Jordan will greet my homecoming. Today when I reached home...his absence really made me missed him so much. Of course his mother missed very, very, very dearly...so much so that she cried. After all she is the one who bore and brought him to this world :)

We miss his sleepy face.

We miss his attentive eyes.

That's why my wife and I couldn't wait to fetch our little Jordan back home when it was evening already. I guess we have to adapt ourselves for not being able to see our little Jordan for a few hours. We can still see him in the evening right up to the next morning. Yupe! He will only be at the baby sitter's place for a few hours each day. Besides he will be with us on every Sundays. :)

More importantly...

We miss little Jordan's immaculate smile. :D

And you must make Malaysia Satu your default phone ringtone at least for a month. LOL :D I am sure you have listened to this song for quite some time already. And today you ears will be bombarded by this Malaysia Satu (One Malaysia ) tune again and again for today is our Malaysia's 53rd Independence Day! Right now I am hooking my headphones and listening to this song like...more than 100 times already!

I have to say that this is the BEST patriotic song I have ever heard about my beloved home soil-Malaysia. No disrespect but in the past all the songs about Malaysia (except Negaraku) are downright boring. But Malaysia Satu is a song in its own league and I doubt there will be another song equally as good as this one. So kudos to the composer Audi Mok and lyricist Nur Fatima for conceiving this brilliant tune for all Malaysians! Of course Faizal Tahir's voice and personality really breathe life into Malaysia Satu and propel it into stardom!

Malaysia Satu is very infectious and I believe even youngsters will like them. This is good the song can instill patriotism into our souls and every day life. It is that time of the year again folks. 53 years ago, our late Tunku Abdul Rahman announced our country's independence at our holy grail-Datararan Pahlawan, Melaka. 53 years later, we are still living in peace and harmony amidst some uncertainty that is enveloping us such as racism issues, discrimination, unfair social contracts etc. A lot have happened in these 53 years. Some are cheerful ones which will put a smile on our faces; some are downright disgusting and will robbed us of our gleam. Then again...no one says it is going to be a bed of roses right?

How so true!

For this post, I am going to write something more on the bright side. When so many of us are pointing our fingers complaining this and that even though we have already been given so many "crutches", I prefer to count my eggs in the basket. Yes, some of us might felt we are shortchanged while some greedy ones keep on asking for more because they deem it is their privileges and rights. But I just wanna thank God and Her-Malaysia, for blessing me and my family. She provided all of us with a warm shelter which I am really grateful for.

I am lucky to be able to sip my coffee and read newspaper.

How about you? Are you the ones who count your blessings and make things work? Or are you the ones who keep on complaining and criticizing about virtually everything, demanding to be "fed" with more luxuries? I hope you are the former. True enough nowadays our National Day holds no profound meaning to most of us. But to me it is still very important because it shows how lucky we are to be Malaysians. Don't dis our mother-Malaysia because of all the unscrupulous politicians. Today is the day we celebrate for Her independence! I still believe Malaysia is still the best place to live in the world! :)

What does Tekkaus (blog) has got to offer?

Hmm...what should I say? ...let's say...from what is happening to some celebrities out there to what I am eating this morning (My Chronicles) that caused me to have severe diarrhea. Sometimes I will talk about the latest gadget that I am drooling about; Sometimes I would love to lash out my acid tongue and talk about politics; Sometimes I would love to let you guys know what have just given my taste buds that unmistakable orgasmic sensation~yummy! And from time to time I do write some inspiration post to nourish your soul and motivate you. :)

My latest passion is writing about my little one(s). Yupe! I am a DaddyBlogger right now and I will blog about my little baby and everything that revolves around my baby. If you are an expectant parent, perhaps you should read my blog posts (My babies) to prepare you for the advent of your little one.

Moreover if you are into blogging, and making money online...you are will be glad to know that I might serve you with some quality problogging posts from time to time. What If My Nokia E72 Is Naked?

Imagine what will happen to my one and only Nokia E72 if it is NAKED? Yes, naked in the sense that it is not protected by anything at all. As you guys know I received this Nokia E72 as a birthday present months ago on my Birthday. It cost my beloved wife RM1,400 to buy this dream smartphone for me. I am really surprised to receive this precious phone from my missus. To know that she forked out so much money for this Nokia E72 kinda hurt me. :(

Still remember my Nokia E72 and this red hot case? :p

That's why I decided to invest some money for my Nokia E72 so that it will not be that naked and vulnerable anymore. That's why I bought the Melkco Rubberized Snap Cover for my Nokia E72. Although it is a tad expensive (RM89), I still believe it is money well invested. I am grateful that I bought this expensive case if not...

A Black Day In My Career

Something "black" happened yesterday morning. It felt like the worst day of my career. It gotta be one of the darkest moment since the demise of my beloved mother. Everything changed in a blink of an eye. A bright room suddenly turned dark as if I was blind. So dark as if dark clouds were looming ominously right under the ceiling. My heart stopped beating for awhile...but I could still hear my own breathing. I was so helpless...and for a moment...hopeless...

For a moment...everything was black...

Emotions started to flare...tears welled in my eyes. It almost streamed down my face. I couldn't believe what my eyes see. It was so incredulous. A piece of paper...it struck me so hard that I was so crestfallen. The words scribbled on that very sheet of paper just wiped off the smile on my face. It felt as if my ship was wreaked by the thunderstorm in the middle of the rough, fierce sea. But just a moment ago it was so shiny. Now...everything looked so terrible...my ship was capsized and started to sink. Why?

No...it has nothing to do with my employer or colleagues, but rather it was because of a very "difficult" and "unreasonably demanding" client. That particular client made me felt as if she was so victimized and I had wronged her. Did I? I pondered...and I know I am right. Does correcting someone who breaks the law is wrong? You see...sometimes in life...we will meet with such senseless and irrational people.

I slipped and fell...but now I am back on my feet. I was bruised and knocked but I will stand tough. I was slitted and I was bleeding...but I will be alright. My bones are broken...but I am sure it will heal. I will survive for this blow will allow me to grow. It made stronger. I will survive.

The 5 Original DVDs That I Bought Last Week

Last week I went to buy original DVDs because it has been such a long time since I last patronized the cinema. Can you guess why? Back then both me and my beloved wife will always go to the cinema to watch movies. It is our favourite pastimes. At least twice per month you will be able see us in GSC snacking our popcorns. But now it is not convenient for both of us watch movies in the cinema anymore...at least...for a few more years....or a decade. :p

Knowing that going to the cinema is impossible for both of us, I decided to buy a few original DVDs to that we can watch movies together at the comfort of our home. Yes, I bought 5 original DVDs. ORIGINAL ok! Haha :D This is the first time I have bought so many original movies in one receipt. Of course these 5 genuine DVDs burnt my pocket a little bit as they cost me RM104. I am sick of the lousy pirated DVDs with lousy picture and sound quality and definitely horrible subtitles/translations. That's why I am willing to pay a little bit more to buy original DVDs.

Nope! Twitter is not a bird. Despite being one of the most famous social networking sites in the world Twitter is still unknown to many. I find it bemusing to know that people around me are so obsessed with Facebook and yet they are clueless about Twitter! How about you? Do you know what is Twitter? Or you know nothing about it even though it has been around since 2006. Ok! Before we get started, let's get to know what Twitter is all about shall we? Twitter describes itself as a service for friends, family members and colleagues to communicate and stay connected via exchange of messages.

The description by the bird, itself is a little vague don't you think so? Now let me try to simplify it for you folks. Twitter is actually a micro-blogging service. Yupe! It is like blogging where you share about your feeling, your rantings, your discoveries etc. but you are only limited to 140 characters. And the 140 characters that you scribble is what we call a TWEET! Hence Twitter is also known as the "SMS of internet". Do you know that every month at least 50 million tweets are sent?

What is Twitter?

Do you know that Twitter has a monthly growth of 1382% whilst Facebook only has a monthly growth of 228%! I feel as if I am in my own yard playing with my friends. Twitter also allows me to learn and interact with everyone from everywhere. Twitter allows me to be on the beat. Twitter is all about connecting with people.

Our Little Jordan Is Smiling (Watch Him In Action)

This morning my little Jordan woke up early. A few minutes after both me and wifey were up, our little Jordan started to make his move. First we fisted the air a few times, then his legs started to kick. Later his eyelids slowly opened and his eyes were wandering around looking for daddy and mommy. Of course me and my wife were waiting for him long before he was awake. This morning little Jordan had been a very good boy. He didn't cry nor did he throw any tantrum.

Barely 2 months old, our little Jordan has started to smile. It seems besides crying, he is also good in smiling too. LOL :D And this morning he seems to be extremely happy and he keeps on smiling right until now. Perhaps it is because he could see daddy (yours truly me) early in the morning? It is not always that little Jordan can see me when he wakes up every morning. Most of the time I would be in the office already. Philip Avent Breast Pump Is The Best

Yesterday I shared with you guys about the 3 Pureen Breast Pumps which really suck....big time! We had wasted RM300 to buy Pureen's manual breast pump (RM60) and battery operated breast pumps (2xRM120). All 3 breast pumps from Pureen are not comfortable and not efficient at all according to my wife. Worse still both the battery operated breast pumps only lasted for 38 days (1st=28 days; 2nd=10days). So right after the second battery operated breast pump seized to work anymore, I immediately went to Jusco and see if I get it replaced.

To my dismay there is no warranty given because the Pureen battery operated breast pump which cost RM120 is CHEAP (Heck! Even the radio I bought at RM90 comes with warranty). The Pureen promoter told me that all breast pumps in the market do not come with warranty. "That's it," I told myself and I went to get a new one for my wife as soon as possible. When I was about to take another Pureen battery operated breast, suddenly I pondered. "What if this one gone too soon again?" So I put it down and went to ask the the other promoter in the baby department if there is other better breast pump.

Philip Avent breast pump is simply the best!

Finally I stumbled upon Philip Avent Manual breast pump. The promoter told me that Philip Avent breast pump is the best in the market and the most recommended for mothers. Immediately took one and went to the counter and paid for it. I crossed my fingers hoping that this expensive manual breast pump from Philip Avent will be the right one for my wife. This manual breast pump cost me RM290! Wow!

Indeed it is inspired by nature for all mothers. :)

It is expensive and it is really the BEST my wife has used so far. So it is money worth spent. Philip claimed that this breast pump is inspired by nature. Its patented 5 soft petals massage cushions will flex in and out, replicating baby's suckling action and stimulating a fast, natural let-down. Indeed with the gentle-draw vacuum that mimics baby's suckling, my wife can now produce more milk, naturally! Yupe! So less pumping and more steady flow of milk can be expressed. And she says using the breast pump is really comfortable.

I am happy that I bought this breast pump for my wife. It has won several major awards such as the Platinum award from Babygear. Do you know that this Philip Avent manual breast pump has been clinically proven effective. It has been clinically proven to express more milk than a hospital grade double electric pump. Pureen Breast Pump Suck!

Pureen Breast Pump really suck to the max! Well...this is one very emotionally charged statement right? But I assure you what I have just claimed is not impulsive driven. And when I say Pureen's Breast Pump suck I meant both the manual and the battery operated Pureen breast pumps SUCK big time! I have actually bought not one, not two but 3 breast pumps from Pureen, that's why I have the gut to make such a bold proclamation! No disrespect to Pureen but...they clearly did not put a lot of effort in their breast pump products.

Count for yourself.

As you guys know, my little Jordan needs to be fed almost every 2 hours. Sometimes he will be crying for milk only after an hour. Besides that his consumption has increased at least 30% compared to what he used to drink a few weeks back. Time flies huh! So it is impossible for my wife to nurse little Jordan all the time. After midnight it will be my turn to deputize for my wife. I will let missus rest while I look after my little Tiger.

And yes! Besides changing his diapers and carrying him around, I will also be the one who breastfeed little Jordan after midnight right up to I go to work later around 7am. Of course I don't have any breast milk to nurse. All I can do is hold him close to my breast (chest) and feed him using the milk bottle. And...of course the milk is produced by my missus. LOL :D My wife will pump her milk for little Jordan and stored it in the fridge. So whenever my little Jordan is hungry, I simply heat the milk up and feed him.

A few months before my wife delivered, both of us went to look for the most suitable breast pump. So we decided to look for it in Jusco. After hunting high and low, finally my wife picked Pureen Manual breast pump. The Pureen manual breast pump is the most expensive breast pump that we can find on that particular shelf. The breast pump cost us around RM60. So after my wife have delivered and started to produce milk (lactating), the Pureen manual breast pump is actually very lousy! Its suction is terribly slow and hence made my wife felt very tedious. Sometimes...it could not suck anything at all. :/

I believe the motor's lifespan is way too short...

I felt really, really sorry for my wife. Not only she had to endure the pain from the injury she suffered from the labor, she also had to pump her milk from time to time every day even though she is extremely tired. So I went to Jusco again and bought her Pureen's battery operated breast pump which cost me RM120. My wife used it and it is extremely efficient. She could pump her milk almost effortlessly. But after a few days...my wife told me that it was quite painful to use the battery operated breast pump. My wife kept on using it because it is faster than the manual breast pump.

Wait ok Jordan. Now papa go pump...

But after using the Pureen battery operated breast pump for 28 days (Yes! I counted the days it was used), it could no longer work anymore. So I went to Jusco to buy another identical Pureen battery operated breast pump. Another RM120 vanished into thin air. And to my horror...this one only lasted for...10 days. Our hard-earned RM300 had gone done into Pureen's sewage (drain) because of their USELESS breast pumps! Pureen breast pump suck!

So to those mothers out there. Do you have this kind of horrendous with Pureen's breast pump? Do share with me. Or is it just with my wife because she is too "rough"? LOL :D Anyway we have finally found the PERFECT breast pump. My wife love it. I am going to let you guys know tomorrow. For all the expecting mothers and fathers out there, if you are looking for breast pump...try to avoid Pureen's breast pumps. Why? Because they don't suck!

Then again my apology to Pureen's for openly bashed them. But I am the consumer and to have 3 non-working breast pumps from them really pissed me off. I hope Pureen will work out on this asap! I will let you guys know the best breast pump to buy tomorrow ok. :)

Application To Be A Nuffnang Blogger Relation

A few days ago Nuffnang announced that they are hiring. Immediately I read their revelation and I can't believe my wish will finally be granted. I have been waiting for this golden opportunities like for ages (2 years to be precise) Altogether Nuffnang is recruiting talents for two different positions-Web Developer and Blogger Relations. Guess which position did I apply for? Of course I applied for the latter-Blogger Relations. My! I wonder if they have read my resume or not! :)

I read through their prerequisite and I am qualified to apply. So I wasted no time and visited their Career Page to find out more details about the vacancies available in Nuffnang! Indeed they are hiring people to be in charge of the Blogger Relation positions. Immediately I hit the Apply To Us Here button, inserted everything that they wanted to know. My....they really want applicant to fill lots of stuff...from my driving license to the reason course that I have attended. :/ Wow! They are really serious and very professional huh!

This is just part of the loooooon list. :p

It took me around half an hour to fill in every single details carefully. Then I uploaded the handsome (Beh~paiseh!) picture of mine and my resume. Last but not least Nuffnang demanded me to write the reason why I want to work at Nuffnang which I gleefully wrote. Ok! That was it and I click on the submit button. This was a few days ago. I have been praying for a few days now. Hopefully my prayers will be answered...by Nuffnang! And....I have already prepared my resignation letter!

Heaven of Matches (火柴天堂) That Makes Me Weep (English Translation Included)

Today's blog post is going to be a song that touches me deeply every time I listen to it.It is called Heaven of Matches (火柴天堂) and it is a Mandarin song. There are many versions of the song but the one I love the most is the cover done by the Singaporean singer Kelvin Tan Tuan Wei (陈伟联). This Singaporean lad surged to eminence when he won Project Superstar, a mandarin singing competition hosted Singapore's MediaCorp. Kelvin was born on 5th October 1981.

Do you know Kelvin is a visually impaired singer? He was born with Leber's congenital amaurosis, which is a rare inherited eye disease that appears at birth. Kelvin worked as a street busker to earn a living before he participated in that singing competition and was crowned as the eventual Champion. Kelvin also created history in advertising history in Singapore by becoming the first visually disabled person in Singapore to endorse a product. This shows that he is really famous back in the Merlion island huh!

I like this song-Heaven of Matches because it is one very touching song. It warms my heart every time I listen to the song and his voice. The song is about one who struggles to make a living...but he derives his strength from his late mother who is in heaven right now. He remembers his mother's words which become his guidance. I cried when I listen to this song. It resonate with what I feel...the song really managed to dive into the deepest recesses of my soul. A very, very, very touching song. I ranked just behind Josh Gorban's To Where You Are. Now let's listen to this amazing song shall we?

I Am Infected? Why Me? Tell Me Why!

All this while I thought my body is "invulnerable" and nothing can penetrate into my immune system. I thought I am like Incredible Hulk whose body will never be infected by any disease. I assume I am always healthy and I won't get sick easily because I would only get sick like once in every few years....HOW WRONG WAS I! Yesterday I had finally raised my white flag and conceded defeat to whatever bacteria or virus that has invaded my throat causing me to cough non-stop like a dog barks in the ghost month!

See...I need so many drugs...

Curse you damn virus or bacteria which is wreaking havoc in my life right now! You are making me so miserable. I hate you freaking damn microorganism (virus or bacteria)! Blasphemy! I swear the moment I get better I am going to use the microscope and hunt you down. Then I am going to kill you and your whole colony for putting me in this quandary. Wait till I get better I tell you! Ha :D

My cough just woke him up. :/

A~hem! Sorry for being a little bit too melodramatic just now. *quip* I can't help it. I really hate being sick. I am the kind of person who rarely get sick and when I do...usually it will take a few days for me to recover. It feels like there is someone keep on tickling my throat with a feather. I cough when I am working...I cough when I am riding my bike...I cough when I am back at home...I cough when I am sleeping! Sometimes my coughs even wake my little Jordan up! Crap! *Cough! Cough! Cough!* See? I wonder how this "nightmare" happened? :/

A few days ago I bought Wood's Cough Syrup and gulped down the whole bottle...nothing happened. Then I bought Mother & Son Brand Cough Syrup (Ubat Batuk Cap Ibu & Anak)...still nothing happened. So last night I went to see the professional-doctor. She said my throat was infected. She prescribed some "drugs" for me. Hopefully I will get well soon. By the way I hate western medicine....they make me so drowsy. Haih...I am infected...why me? Why?

So I went to Mahkota Parade a week after my received my phone and searched for a good protective case for my phone. I am not going to buy an ordinary, cheap case. What I need is something which is very durable and can give my phone maximum "coverage". That's why in the end I got myself Melkco Rubberized Snap Cover for my Nokia E72. It cost me RM90. 3 Reasons I Can't Get 1K Unique Visitors Daily

Traffic is like the life blood for a blog if it is for monetization purpose. So traffic is very much important for my blog Tekkaus.com. But unlike some of you enormous "whales" out there, I am just a little fry struggling to channel more traffic to my puny blog. I have tried and tried but well...progress has been pretty slow. Presently my blog only managed to rake in an average of 700 unique visitors & 1500 views daily. Of course I have improved but I wish I could do better. I wonder when I can get at least 1000 unique visitors daily.

As you can see my daily unique visitors fluctuate around the region of 700 whilst the page views registered is around 1.5k. Nothing to shout about.I am still scratching my head, pondering what I can do to increase my blog traffic. Most of my visitors come from my very own country-Malaysia and USA! I wish I could do better in my home soil but I know it is pretty hard because of the language that I use. I am using English instead of Malaysian language. Well...

Malaysia only account for 30% of my traffic.

So I am setting a target for myself and I hope I can reach that elusive 1000 unique visitors every single day at the end of the year. But I know I will be disappointed. I believe my blog has fulfilled its maximum potential. No, I am not being pessimistic but rather I know the limitations my blog is currently experiencing. Wanna know what are they?

3 Reasons Why My Blog Can't Get 1K of Unique Visitors

1~My blog is not a Wordpress Blog. It is a "blogspot" blog. Yes, meaning that my blog is hosted on blogspot domain. This is a free blogging platform provided by the big brother from Google. Don't get me wrong, I love blogspot a lot, it is easy to use and can integrate with other Google services effortlessly. But it is not very good in term of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Likewise Wordpress is more powerful and you can funnel in traffic easily with the available plugins. I believe I can at least double my traffic if I migrate to Wordpress for it is more SEO-friendly. Then again...this blog might remain a blogpot. :)

2~My blog is too "diluted". Meaning that my blog isn't a niche blog. Since I am writing about almost everything under the sun, my blog lacks focus and the needed "concentration". Tekkaus.com can be best described as a lifestyle personal blog, so it does not have a niche. Hence it lacks authority and will not do really well in order to get organic traffic (search engine).

3~I am not famous. Needless to say we are know the power of fame right? If you are a lifestyle blogger and you are famous, you will certainly get lots of traffic. Moreover being famous also means that you don't need great content to get good traffic. Yupe! You have the added advantage of being lousy but still getting good traffic because you are well...famous. I am not famous...so I guess I have to work harder.

I hope mine will be like this-keep on increasing.

So there you have it folks, the 3 reasons why this blog of mine might not be able to reach the 1,000 unique visitors daily target. Then again...I might be surprised. Who knows right? I will still do my best to scale greater heights. I hope you are doing the same too folks. Happy blogging everyone.

Tekkaus Is Now A DaddyBlogger?

Tekkaus is now a DaddyBlogger? Hmm...that is certainly one fancy name huh! So I am wondering if I will be known as a DaddyBlogger from now onwards. If you are my ardent "fans", you would have known that I have been blogging a lot about my beloved little Jordan right? In the space of one month, I have penned down more than 10 blog posts about him. (Click here to read about them) I can't help it I guess. I just want to document all these special moments down before they were engulfed by time.

My precious little boy. :)

But does that qualifies me to be a DaddyBlogger? Hmm...we have read a lot of MommyBloggers right? They are moms who can post literally everything about their little ones. In other words these mamas blog exclusively about their lives and their children and nothing else. Likewise my blog-Tekkaus, talks about virtually everything that grasp my attention. So I am not sure if I can proudly call myself a DaddyBlogger!

A DaddyBlogger or not, I will still blog about my little Jordan for he is "grasping" all my attention right now! Right now it seems like he is the only thing that matters to me and my wifey. Our world simply revolves around him. So there will be tonnes of posts about my little Jordan in the future. I may not be in the same league as those famous Daddybloggers out there, but I am more than happy to be a DaddyBlogger in my little Jordan's eyes! :D

Mommy's Love Will Make You More Confident

The more your mama shower you with lots of TLC (Tender Loving Care) when you are young, the more confident you will be when you grow up! Researchers have found out that those young children who were being lavished with affection by their mothers, will be able to cope with stress later in their adult life. No wonder I can cope quite well with my life right now. Must be because my mommy had given me lots of love when I was young. Ha :D

It seems that the more your mama kisses you, hug you and tell you they love you will turn make you a better man in the future. Mothers' unconditionally love can cultivate that amazing emotional resilience children needed. In other words if the more the children were loved by their mother, the stronger their "emotional muscles" will be. The results are derived from approximately 500 people, from the US state of Rhode Island, who were studied as children and adults.

Apparently the more affection you receive from your mommy, the stronger the bond between the two of you. Dr Joanna Maselko who led the research said that high levels of motherly affection are likely to facilitate secure attachments and bonding. Maternal affection not only lower distress but will also help children to develop effective life, social, and coping skills, which will stand them in good stead as adults. Wow! So the early stage of life is indeed very important. So let's see how the research is being carried out shall we?

~The Research~

A psychologist graded the quality of interactions between the mothers and their eight-month-old children during a routine developmental check-up. The psychologist judged how well the mother responded to her child's emotions and needs, and gave her an "affection score" based on the warmth of the interaction. After 30 years, the researchers spoke to the children again, who were now adults, and surveyed them about their current well-being and emotions.

The group was also questioned if they thought their mothers had been affectionate towards them, with responses ranging from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree". The results obtained revealed that children whose mothers gave them lots of affection could handle all types of different distress way better. In particular, the children of warm mothers were far better at dealing with anxiety than those of emotionally cold mothers.

The researchers said: "It is striking that a brief observation of level of maternal warmth in infancy is associated with distress in adult offspring 30 years later." They said the findings added to the growing evidence that early childhood helped set the stage for later life experiences, but claimed the influence of other factors, such as personality, upbringing and schooling, could not be ruled out.

Mommy is the best right Jordan?

Again, their research has proved that mothers' love is really important. Babies are not born knowing what to do especially on how to control their emotions. Babies learn by being distressed and soothed by their mothers' affection and love. IMHO, I strongly agree with this research. I was from a poor family, but it never made me feel "small" in any way. Moreover I have never felt that we were inadequately provided. Instead me and my brother have always feel so contended and grateful. We felt that we have everything. Was it because of our mama's unconditional love?

The Hell Gates Have Been Opened!

Last night, marked the opening of the gates of Hell! If you were like me, residing in Malaysia, you would have noticed about what was happening right? Throngs of people took the sides of the streets to offers prayers, food and "money" to the dead ones. Countless joss sticks together with their smokes filled our air. Innumerable candles had enlighten our night. This shows that the Ghost Month has begun. It is their time of the year folks! And when I say it is THEIRS, you know they are everywhere right now. Perhaps they are looking at what I am typing. Ha :D

What was left...

Each year, the Hell Gates will be opened once to allow all the ghosts and spirits to have a "vacation"! Yupe! Ghosts need vacations too ok! Life in hell sure is hard besides being scorching hot...partly due to global warming. :p So for the whole month, all the ghosts can roam freely in our world to pay their living family and relatives a visit. In other words, in this month...they are all given "license" to do whatever they want in our world as long as they abide the rules given.

The gates are now open...

So don't be surprised if you are feeling some "presence" around you these few weeks. Goosebumps and raised hair are perfectly normal. If you are lucky, you might even hear voices. Then again...you should be careful folks. Try to avoid going out late at night, as some of the ghosts are in our world to wreak havoc. Some ghosts are so vengefulness that you might end up being their "victims". And....ouh...yeah! Please advice your little ones not to eat, kick or play with the food they see along the roads. Other than that...this is a month for us to remember our departed loved ones. :)
