He said that so far the microbial fuel power stack that scientists have developed generates enough power to enable SMS messaging, web browsing and to make a brief phone call.

"Making a call on a mobile phone takes up the most energy, but we will get to the place where we can charge a battery for longer periods. The concept has been tested and it works - it's now for us to develop and refine the process so that, we can develop MFCs to fully charge a battery," he said.

The 'pods' are essentially chairs that convert into private flat beds, a website reported.
There have been 10 pods installed in Terminal 1 and 3, with an extra 35 due to be fitted later this year.
According to airport authorities, the chairs, which include a sliding shade, will isolate the passenger from noise, light and crowds.
The pods will be soon upgraded to include internet access and secure storage for luggage and valuables and travellers will also be able to charge their electronic devices on the chair.
