Automakers and Tier One suppliers using the QNX CAR Application Platform will soon have the ability to offer connected navigation and search, providing drivers with 3D turn-by-turn navigation and voice/audio prompts, along with real-time information like up-to-date maps, business listings, local places, traffic information, gas prices and more. QNX and TeleNav will demonstrate connected navigation and search in the QNX CAR Application Platform this week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV.

TeleNav Enhances Driving Experience with New Version of TeleNav GPS Navigator(TM)

(NASDAQ: TNAV), one of the largest global wireless location-based services providers with more than 18 million paying subscribers, today launched TeleNav GPS Navigator version 6.2 for select Android devices. The latest version of TeleNav GPS Navigator is designed to deliver a faster and more reliable way to navigate, search, and view maps on a mobile device. TeleNav has added new features such as expanded Speech Recognition, Quick Search, Multiple Route Suggestions, enhanced local search content with more listings, and overall improved application speed.

A Personalized Experience: Multiple Route Suggestions and Commute Alerts

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 now offers Multiple Route Suggestions and allows users to choose which route they prefer to take. Once a destination is entered, users are presented with up to three route suggestions overlaid on a map with route distance and estimated drive times. Users can review information for each route and select the option that best fits their personal driving needs.

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 also includes a new user interface for the existing Commute Alert feature, making it easier for users to set and receive automatic alerts at a pre-selected time to show current traffic conditions along their daily commute. Users can choose to have these alerts sent via e-mail, SMS, or within the TeleNav GPS Navigator application to receive their personal daily commute information before hitting the road.

Search Made Simple

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 includes Quick Search, a new feature designed to make finding local places quick and easy. Located on the application's home page, users can simply touch the Quick Search box and type an address, landmark, category (i.e. Italian Food), or a business name. TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 uses predictive search technology to suggest results as the user types their desired location. Quick Search eliminates the need to navigate menus in order to find and drive to a location.

TeleNav has included an expanded Speech Recognition feature, allowing users to press a single button on the home page and speak a command. In addition to the Speech Recognition commands available in previous versions of TeleNav GPS Navigator used for finding addresses ("1130 Kifer Road") or businesses ("Find gas stations"), TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 provides voice access to more information, for questions such as "How's the weather" or "How's traffic."

TeleNav has also made its local search functionality easier, faster and more comprehensive, adding millions of new Points of Interest (POIs) to its search database, giving TeleNav users access to more than 22 million U.S. business locations, historical landmarks, airports and more.

"There's nothing more frustrating when using a GPS product than to search for a location and not get a result. If a user can't find the destination they're looking for, the quality of the navigation features doesn't matter," said Dhanani. "We've put a lot of effort into ensuring that our users are able to find the destinations they're searching for."

Additional Features and Enhancements

In addition to multiple route options and search enhancements, TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 includes enhanced map performance and design, allowing for faster panning and page refreshes when users view the map screen within the application. The map view also includes one-click options to layer information on the map screen, such as traffic flow information and the locations of traffic cameras.

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 also features a new POI search screen interface designed to make searching for business categories more simple. When viewing the POI category page, users are presented with an easy to read view of popular business categories and can access those listings with one-click.

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 is available immediately on the Android Marketplace to AT&T customers (as AT&T Navigator 2.2) using the Samsung Captivate™, HTC Aria, Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X10, or Motorola BACKFLIP™ devices running Android OS version 2.1 or above. Ford Selects TeleNav as Global Navigation Partner for MyFord Touch-equipped Vehicles

SUNNYVALE, Calif and SHANGHAI, China – December 9, 2010 – TeleNav, Inc., (NASDAQ: TNAV) one of the largest global wireless navigation services providers, today announced that Ford Motor Company has partnered with TeleNav to bring connected navigation to its MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch-equipped vehicles around the world. Ford's second-generation SYNC™ system uses TeleNav's automotive-grade GPS navigation software to deliver real-time information to help drivers search, find and drive to places more reliably and efficiently.

"With TeleNav's worldwide routing and navigation experience, Ford now can offer high quality connected services to drivers in a number of countries," said HP Jin, president, CEO and co-founder of TeleNav. "The availability of MyFord Touch outside of North America is further evidence of TeleNav's growing presence in the auto industry."

MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch will allow customers to interact with the navigation system through a touch screen interface or SYNC's voice recognition capabilities to find local information and navigate to their destinations. The system includes an 8-inch touch screen in the center stack and dual 4.2-inch screens in the instrument cluster to showcase full color maps and guidance information. TeleNav's SD card-based navigation system provides an easily updateable option compared to CD, DVD or hard-drive-based systems. TeleNav's global navigation solution includes regional and local information such as languages, guidance and maps.

Similar to the U.S. version, MyFord Touch in China, Europe and South America will include Eco-Route, an application developed by TeleNav that calculates a fuel-efficient option for each route. When the driver enters a destination into the system, MyFord Touch accesses historical and real-time traffic data as well as speed limits and road angulations to calculate three drive route options: fastest, shortest and eco-friendly. Initial Ford testing indicated Eco-Route can be up to 15 percent more fuel-efficient when compared to other route options provided by MyFord Touch.

Survey Data Indicates Economy and New TSA Scanners Are Influencing Americans’ Holiday Travel Plans

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Nov. 24, 2010 – TeleNav, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNAV), one of the largest global wireless location-based services providers with more than 17 million subscribers, today released results of a survey of U.S. Residents of driving age* that indicate while most Americans plan to travel this holiday season, an overwhelming majority will be hitting the open road instead of the friendly skies. Only five percent of respondents indicated they plan to fly for their holiday travel this year, with respondents reporting that both the economy and new full-body scanners being used by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have caused them to forego flying this season. In addition to holiday travel plans, TeleNav's survey also examined Americans' shopping plans as the holiday season kicks-off this week on Black Friday.

Survey Results Indicate:

No Fly Zone – Seventy-three percent of survey respondents said they plan to drive to events this holiday season, five percent said they plan to fly, two percent said they plan to use another form of transportation such as a bus or train, and 20 percent said they don't plan to travel for the holidays this year.
More than one-third of Americans who plan to drive this holiday season indicated they will travel more than 50 miles each way. Fourteen percent will drive more than 200 miles each way.
Times are Tough (and the TSA is Rough) – More than one-fourth of respondents who plan to drive this holiday season reported that the current state of the economy influenced their decision to drive instead of fly. Additionally, one-third of the 20 percent of Americans who don't plan to travel at all indicated that the current state of the economy influenced their decision to stay at home this year. Of those respondents who plan to travel this season but are not flying, 13 percent indicated that the recent implementation of full-body scanners by the TSA influenced their decision to avoid flying.
Making the Trip for the Perfect Gift – When it comes to saving money on that perfect gift, Americans indicated they're willing to hit the road in order to save a buck at the register. While only nine percent of respondents said they would drive more than 50 miles each way to save $50 on a gift, 23 percent indicated they would drive more than 50 miles to save $100 and 57 percent said they would drive that distance to save $500. Fifteen percent of respondents said they would drive between 100 and 200 miles each way to save $500 on a gift.
One-third of the survey respondents reported that between 51 and 100 miles is the maximum distance they would be willing to drive each way if there were only one store that had the "must have" item on their holiday shopping list. More than fifty percent of respondents said the maximum distance they would travel for their must have gift is below 50 miles each way.
Ready, Set, Shop – While most gifts can be found online, respondents indicated they still plan to roam the aisles of their favorite retailers this holiday season. Thirty-five percent of Americans indicated they plan to purchase more than 75 percent of their holiday gift items from a store location. Only two percent of respondents said they will buy all of their items online.

Nearly 40 percent of survey respondents said they plan to go shopping on Black Friday. Of those respondents, almost 70 percent reported that they plan out a route for the stores they want to visit prior to leaving their home. Nearly half of Black Friday shoppers plan to visit more than four stores during their shopping trip, and slightly more than 55 percent plan to arrive at the first store sometime before 6:00 a.m.

One-third of respondents who plan to shop on Black Friday indicated that items selling out quickly is the worst part of the shopping experience, followed closely by overcrowding in the retail stores.
Patience is a Virtue (Not During the Holidays) – While respondents indicated they're willing to travel for the perfect gift, most aren't willing to wait long to purchase that gift once they arrive. Only 10 percent of Americans said they would wait longer than 30 minutes for a parking spot at a store with their must have gift. Thirty-five percent said they wouldn't wait for any length of time for a parking spot. Results are similar once respondents enter the store with only 22 percent reporting that they would wait in line for more than 30 minutes for the must have gift on their shopping list.

National GPS Search Data Reveals Which Brands Consumers Seek Out Most While on the Road

ad:tech New York – Nov. 3, 2010 – TeleNav, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNAV), one of the largest global wireless location-based services providers with more than 17 million subscribers, today released usage data* indicating the brands consumers are most actively searching for while on the road. The top brands were identified by analyzing how frequently TeleNav's users have entered the brand names as a keyword search within one of the company's many mobile GPS navigation applications. The data revealed which brands in a variety of vertical industries are beating out the competition for their share of mobile, local searches.

"Our GPS navigation users are in their vehicles, actively looking for a specific service or business to drive to," said Ky Tang, director of marketing for TeleNav. "Our analysis of the businesses our users are actively searching for helps brands understand the behavior and preferences of on-the-go consumers."

National Data Analysis Results:

Fast Food Nation – TeleNav's data analysis found that six of the top ten most searched restaurants in the Nation are fast-food locations. McDonald's tops the charts as the number one searched restaurant, with more than twice as many searches as second place Subway. Taco Bell, KFC and Burger King round out the top five, respectively.
Hotel Head-to-Head – Hotels are a popular search destination among TeleNav's users as they use their mobile GPS to travel to new locations. The company's data indicated that Holiday Inn is the number one searched for hotel with nearly twice as many searches for its properties than second place Marriott. Hampton took third place, followed by Motel 6 and Hilton.
Big Box Battle – With shopping being one of the Nation's favorite activities, TeleNav analyzed data to determine which large retail stores consumers search for most while on the road. The results found that Walmart tops the list, with more than three times as many searches as second place Target. Costco took the third position among the top searched large retailers. Walmart also holds the distinction as being the top searched keyword overall among TeleNav users.
Caffeine Clash – So where are consumers traveling to get their morning caffeine fix? TeleNav's results indicated that Starbucks is the overwhelming choice for GPS users seeking coffee on the go, with more than five times the number of searches than Dunkin' Donuts. Starbucks is the second most searched keyword among all searches conducted by TeleNav's users.
DIY Duel – With many Americans becoming Do-It-Yourselfers (DIY), home improvement centers have become popular retail locations. TeleNav's data found that Home Depot is a two to one favorite among its users over Lowe's when it comes to total searches conducted. Combined searches for Ace Hardware and Menards, in third and fourth place, respectively, accounted for less than 10 percent of searches for the top four home improvement locations.

Search Data and TeleNav's Mobile Advertising Platform

TeleNav recently launched a navigation-based mobile advertising platform that enables businesses, such as restaurants, hotels and retail stores, to place a sponsored listing at the top of the search results located in its mobile navigation applications. When users click on the sponsored listing, the advertiser can provide additional information to the user such as a coupon or menu information. The user can then choose to call, map or receive turn-by-turn directions to drive to the business location, all of which are actions TeleNav measures and reports as metrics to advertisers.

"This usage analysis demonstrates the wealth of data and insights we have into what drivers are searching for when they're on the road," said Tang. "If a brand is not a top searched destination, they can use our ad platform to place their listing at the top of the search results list, giving them more visibility with our users. If the brand is already frequently searched by our users, our ad platform can be used to include deals or coupons within their listings, rewarding consumers for being loyal to their brand and helping to increase the number of users who choose to visit a location after conducting a search."

TeleNav Launches a Free, Location-Based, Private Social Networking App for the iPhone

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Nov 2, 2010 – TeleNav, Inc., one of the largest global wireless location-based services providers with more than 17 million subscribers, today announced the immediate availability of MyTies, a mobile-only, private social networking application for the iPhone.

MyTies allows iPhone users to leverage their personal address book and contacts to create multiple private networks by inviting contacts to join and form groups. Users can form separate groups based on whom they want to share information with, for example, a group of co-workers, a group of family members and a group of college friends. This multiple-group structure allows users to easily choose which group or groups can view their messages, photos, videos and location information.

With one third of Americans worried about how much information is available about them online, MyTies recognizes the privacy of direct mobile communication and gives users the power to turn their contacts into an interactive network. New users will be allocated a number of initial free invitations to create private groups and in the future, additional invitations can be obtained through in-app purchasing.

Unlike web-based social networking sites, MyTies will not publically show information to anyone outside of a user’s chosen groups. In addition, MyTies reverses the current practice of selling and sharing users’ personal information with advertisers, and does not connect to third party networks. MyTies reduces unsolicited content through enhanced privacy settings that enable users to specify individual and group preferences.

The APIs enable developers to connect TeleNav's location-based services, such as turn-by-turn directions and location sharing, to their mobile and web applications. The TeleNav Developer Platform helps developers reach more than 17 million TeleNav subscribers and enables seamless navigation and location sharing across all major mobile operating systems on hundreds of devices supported by the networks of TeleNav's U.S. carrier partners, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular, as well as a limited number of devices on the Verizon network. TeleNav Connect

For example, an application providing restaurant information and reviews can use the TeleNav Connect API to include a "Drive-To" button within each listing. TeleNav Share

TeleNav Share is an API designed to help users easily send an address from a website or a mobile application directly to their phone. Traditionally, when a user locates an address on a website, they must manually launch their phone's navigation application and type in the address. With TeleNav Share, developers can mobilize addresses on their websites by using the TeleNav Share API to place a "Send to Phone" option next to address listings. When a user clicks on this option, they are able to enter phone numbers and instantly send the address to their phone or share it with friends. If the user is one of the millions of TeleNav subscribers, the address will be available in the "Favorites" menu when they launch the application. For other users, the address will be sent to their phone via text message.

Developer Support

The TeleNav Developer Platform, which includes TeleNav Connect and TeleNav Share, provides developers with a variety of tools designed to make integration of TeleNav's APIs into their applications quick and simple. TeleNav Reports First Quarter Fiscal 2011 Financial Results

Sunnyvale, Calif. – October 28, 2010 –TeleNav, Inc. (NASDAQ:TNAV), a leading provider of location-based services, or LBS, including voice guided navigation and local search on mobile phones, autos and enterprise LBS, today announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 ended September 30, 2010.

Financial Highlights

Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 grew 42 percent over the prior year to $51.1 million.
Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 grew 52 percent over the prior year to $12.4 million.
Cash generated from operations for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 was $20.2 million.
Average monthly revenue per end user (ARPU) for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 decreased 14 percent over the first quarter of fiscal 2010 to $0.94.
Average monthly paying end users for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 increased 65 percent year over year to 17.7 million.

"We continued to achieve record number of average monthly paying end users, which grew over 1.6 million quarterly to 17.7 million in the September quarter," said HP Jin, president, CEO and co-founder of TeleNav. "We are also leveraging our core business to grow revenue from premium navigation, automotive, enterprise LBS, and mobile advertising and commerce opportunities, which comprised more than five percent of our total revenue in the September quarter."

Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 was $51.1 million, compared to revenue of $49.5 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 and $36.0 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2010. Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 reflects the one month impact from the amended Sprint agreement.

Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 was $12.4 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, compared to net income of $10.6 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 and $8.1 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2010.

Non-GAAP net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 was $13.0 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, compared to non-GAAP net income of $13.0 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 and $8.3 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2010. Non-GAAP net income excludes stock-based compensation expense net of the related tax effect. The shares used in the calculation of TeleNav's non-GAAP net income per share assume the conversion of all outstanding preferred stock into shares of common stock using the as-if converted method as of the beginning of each period presented or the date of issuance, if later.

"Our cash, cash equivalents and short-term investment balances increased during the quarter by $18.2 million, ending the quarter with a total of $131.1 million," said Douglas Miller, chief financial officer of TeleNav. "In addition, our accounts receivable rose to $57.3 million as of September 30, 2010, of which we collected $46.5 million to date in the month of October, further increasing our cash balances."

Recent Business Highlights

In September 2010, TeleNav amended and extended its Master Application and Services Agreement with Sprint, its largest customer, and also amended its License Agreement with Tele Atlas, a supplier of map and points of interest content used in TeleNav's services.

Sprint Agreement Highlights

The term of the amended agreement is extended from December 31, 2011 to December 31, 2012. Sprint's right to terminate the agreement without cause has also been changed from December 31, 2010 to beginning June 30, 2012.
TeleNav's right to be Sprint's preferred supplier of navigation applications is broadened and the preferred supplier rights are extended from December 31, 2010 to December 31, 2012. Sprint branded navigation services offered as part of a bundled offering will transition to TeleNav branded navigation services over time. In addition, bundle opportunities are expanded to include Sprint's prepaid subscriber base.
TeleNav will receive a guaranteed annual fixed fee from Sprint for navigation applications provided to subscribers in bundles with other Sprint services. The annual fee will change from year to year over the contract period and limits the maximum number of subscribers covered under such fee in a given year. TeleNav will recognize revenue for the aggregate annual fees monthly on a straight-line basis over the term of the agreement.
TeleNav's portion of the revenue sharing arrangements for monthly recurring charge navigation subscribers, enterprise LBS subscribers and revenue generated from mobile commerce services were increased, and will also apply to revenue generated from other premium services TeleNav may provide to bundled and other subscribers during the term of the agreement.

Tele Atlas Agreement Highlights

TeleNav will now pay fees related to navigation services provided for Sprint's bundled offerings as a percentage of fees collected from Sprint for basic navigation services and from mobile advertising and mobile commerce revenue generated thereon, rather than the previous arrangement based on monthly fees per user or per transaction fees.
The term of the agreement remains unchanged and expires in July 2014; however, financial terms with respect to Sprint bundled offerings will expire in concert with the expiration of TeleNav's agreement with Sprint for these services.
The amendments to the agreement are retroactively effective as of August 1, 2010.

Ford Motor Company uses TeleNav's automotive-grade navigation software in its latest generation of Ford SYNC™ to help drivers search, find and drive to places more reliably and quickly. The in-vehicle system integrates with Ford's award-winning SYNC platform – also powered by TeleNav routing software – and connects with the infotainment and telematics system in the vehicle.

In addition to MyFord Touch map-based navigation, TeleNav developed Eco-Route™, an application for the system that calculates a fuel-efficient route for the driver. Jungle! is a convenient way for college students to buy, sell and request products and services in their area, including textbooks, tutoring or even housing, based on their current location.

By posting ads on Jungle!, students create a community marketplace with other nearby students. Jungle! posts and requests are tagged with the approximate location of the item or service, making search results more relevant.

The application has three main categories – housing, products, and services – where students can post detailed descriptions with up to four photos and their approximate location. Jungle! also offers a direct messaging feature that connects users to others while protecting personal privacy by preventing users from accessing the exact location, phone number or e-mail address of other buyers or sellers.

Jungle! lets students post an ad for anything from a textbook to a roommate. For example, when posting a housing ad, students can list rent amounts, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and include other information such as pet and smoking restrictions. Jungle! makes shopping simple by allowing users to search by item, price and location, all while mobile. Since Jungle! uses the phone's location to guide searches, it only returns products and services in a student's surrounding area. In addition to posting items for sale, Jungle allows users to post an ad for a desired product or service that is viewable in the marketplace. The app also includes a feature that searches for keywords and sends a direct message to the user when an item or service matching their request appears in the marketplace.

Financial Highlights

Record revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 grew 45 percent over the prior year to $49.5 million.
Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 grew 3 percent over the prior year to $10.6 million.
Record revenue for fiscal 2010 grew 54 percent year over year to $171.2 million.
Record net income for fiscal 2010 grew 40 percent year over year to $41.4 million.
Cash generated from operations for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 was $24.7 million.
Average monthly revenue per end user (ARPU) for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 decreased 13 percent over the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 to $1.03.
Average monthly paying end users for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 increased 69 percent year over year to 16.1 million.
Completed initial public offering in May 2010 with approximately $44.6 million in net proceeds to TeleNav, after underwriting commissions and discounts and offering expenses.

Revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 was $49.5 million, compared to revenue of $45.1 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2010 and $34.3 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. Revenue for fiscal 2010 was $171.2 million, compared to revenue of $110.9 million in fiscal 2009.

Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 was $10.6 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, compared to net income of $12.5 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, for the third quarter of fiscal 2010 and $10.3 million, or $0.20 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. Net income for fiscal 2010 was $41.4 million, or $0.83 per diluted share, compared to net income of $29.6 million, or $0.57 per diluted share, in fiscal 2009.

Non-GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 was $13.0 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, compared to non-GAAP net income of $13.1 million, or $0.34 per diluted share, for the third quarter of fiscal 2010 and $10.5 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. For fiscal 2010, non-GAAP net income was $45.2 million, or $1.16 per diluted share, compared to $30.1 million, or $0.82 per diluted share, in fiscal 2009. Our Non-GAAP net income excludes stock-based compensation expense net of the related tax effect. The shares used in the calculation of our non-GAAP net income per share assume the conversion of all outstanding preferred stock into shares of common stock using the as-if converted method as of the beginning of each period presented or the date of issuance, if later.

"Cash generated from operations of $44.5 million increased 93 percent year over year. Including the successful completion of TeleNav's initial public offering this quarter, TeleNav increased its cash and cash equivalents 241 percent year over year to $112.9 million as of June 30, 2010," said Douglas Miller, chief financial officer of TeleNav. In July 2010, U.S. Cellular, the nation's sixth largest wireless carrier, selected TeleNav as a GPS navigation partner and launched Your Navigator Deluxe™, powered by TeleNav, on multiple smartphones.
In May 2010, TeleNav announced the availability of the Sendum PT200 tracking device for Sprint wireless enterprise customers using the TeleNav Asset Tracker platform. The device provides highly accurate location information allowing TeleNav Asset Tracker users to monitor the real-time location of assets, such as high-value packages, cargo or equipment, using a secure, Web-based portal.
In April 2010, TeleNav announced the availability of TeleNav business mobility products for Verizon Wireless enterprise customers, which allow organizations' field personnel to manage their work and exchange data with back-office systems using their smartphones on the Verizon Wireless network.

TeleNav's largest customer, Sprint, is in negotiations with TeleNav regarding potential amendment of its current contract, which expires as to TeleNav's right to be Sprint's exclusive provider of Sprint Navigation on December 31, 2010 and terminates on December 31, 2011. Sprint and TeleNav are currently in active discussions to amend material terms of that contract including an extension of the contract and TeleNav's preferred provider status, changes to the current per subscriber revenue model, and provisions for new revenue opportunities from premium products, advertising and mobile commerce. TeleNav anticipates that any extended agreement would result in declines in ARPU and significant reductions in total revenue from Sprint for bundled basic navigation services compared to the most recent quarter, but would also likely result in continued increases in the number of subscribers. TeleNav cannot predict whether or when it will reach agreement with Sprint on these matters or what the ultimate financial impact would be.

Business Outlook

TeleNav offers the following guidance for the first quarter ending September 30, 2010, which assumes no amendment to the Sprint agreement would be effective during the quarter ending September 30, 2010:

Total revenue is expected to be approximately $50.0 million;
Gross margins are expected to be 80 percent;

National Survey Data Indicates Men and Women Are Similar Behind the Wheel in Action but Not As Much in Perception

Sunnyvale, Calif. – July 14, 2010 – Results of a new TeleNav (NASDAQ:TNAV) survey of US drivers* indicate that while men and women may be very different in a number of ways, they have many similarities when it comes to getting behind the wheel. From views of their biggest driving pet peeves to texting while driving, both genders reported having similar habits on the road. However, the survey results also suggest that while their actions on the road may be similar, men and women have very different perceptions of which gender rules the road.

Survey results indicate:

Men Claim “King of the Road” Status . . . Women Beg to Differ - When asked which gender is the better driver, 40 percent of male respondents indicated they think males are better drivers than females. Only two percent of males indicated that females are the better driving sex while 58 percent thought that gender plays no role in driving ability. Female respondents had a different opinion of the better driver debate. Only four percent of women indicated males are the better drivers. Interestingly, just seven percent of female respondents think that women are better drivers. Nearly 90 percent of females indicated that gender plays no role in driving ability.

No Matter the Sex, We All Like to Text - While both sexes agreed that texting while driving should be illegal (89 percent of both men and women), it seems that neither men nor women are fully practicing what they preach. Nearly 25 percent of both male and female respondents reported sending at least one text message while driving per week. Men seem to be the most heavy texters with 36 percent of those who text while driving indicating they send an average of seven or more texts per week while on the road. In contrast, only 23 percent of women admitted to texting as frequently.

(Road) Rules Are Meant to be Broken �– Results indicate that posted speed limits may merely be viewed as “suggestions” as more than two-thirds of both men and women drivers reported having a predetermined range of speed they feel is acceptable to drive over the posted speed limit. Of those who reported having an acceptable speeding range, the majority of both men and women indicated their acceptable range is between 1-5 mph. However, more men than women (47 percent vs. 38 percent) indicated that speed ranges of 6 mph or more over the speed limit are acceptable.

It seems both sexes have been fairly successful at avoiding the long arm of the law while on the road. Eighty-nine percent of women and 83 percent of men reported having a clean driving record in the past two years with no speeding or traffic tickets.

We Can All Use a Little Guidance (Some More than Others) - Nearly one-quarter of female respondents reported that they are not confident in their own sense of direction. In contrast, only nine percent of male respondents lack confidence in their sense of direction. Ironically, even though they feel they have a better sense of direction, more men than women depend on GPS technology to guide them to a location. Fifty-eight percent of male respondents reported having used GPS to guide them on their way while only 48 percent of women have tapped the power of satellite guidance.

It’s all the (road) rage – It appears that neither male nor female drivers are angels when they hit the open road. Nearly half of all respondents reported having made a rude/crude gesture, such as showing their middle finger, to another driver in their lifetime. Of the 50 percent of male drivers who have shown their displeasure toward another driver, 16 percent admitted to doing this at least once a week compared to just eight percent of females. And what if “flipping the bird” isn’t enough? Forty-one percent of women and 43 percent of men reported using their vehicle’s horn to express displeasure at an action made by another driver.

What driving no-no’s do respondents feel warrant a honk of the horn? The top-three worst offenses include:
1. Cutting off another vehicle when changing lanes
2. Tail-gating or following too closely
3. Not using signals to turn or change lanes
Responses indicate that anger on the road isn’t always displayed toward other drivers. More than half of respondents, 55 percent of both men and women, reported having had an argument with a significant other while driving. The most common reason, reported by both men and women, was one partner accusing the other of being a bad driver.

New Mobile App Helps Drivers Keep Focused on the Road by Automatically and Safely Notifying Contacts When They Will Arrive

OnMyWay is a simple-to-use notification application that automatically alerts a pre-determined person or group of people of the sender’s trip status and estimated time of arrival (ETA). Drivers can quickly set an OnMyWay notification prior to getting on the road and the application will automatically send travel time updates based on location to designated contacts via text and/or e-mail.

A recent Ford Motor Co. study concluded that manually dialing a mobile device while driving was almost 2.8 times riskier than normal driving¹. More so, the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) found that those who text while driving are 23 times more likely to get into an accident than that of a driver paying full attention to the road².

The application automatically notifies recipients of the sender’s ETA by text or e-mail so the user can focus on driving. OnMyWay delivers an initial notification alerting the receiver when the driver has started his/her trip and includes an anticipated ETA based on GPS location. Following the initial alert, up to three additional status messages might be automatically sent based on the sender’s preferences. National GPS Usage Data Reveals Walmart is Nation’s Most Searched for Destination While on the Road

Sunnyvale, Calif. – March 10, 2010—TeleNav, one of the largest navigation services providers with more than 13 million subscribers, today released usage data* that suggests users depend on GPS navigation for much more than getting from point A to point B. The data indicates that while customers in various cities depend on some GPS features more than others, when it comes to searching out nearby businesses on the road, drivers across the country seem to be in agreement on their favorites.

An analysis of searches conducted by TeleNav users in December 2009 indicated that Walmart topped the list as the number one U.S. business TeleNav customers sought out while using their GPS service. Starbucks took a close second, proving Americans’ obsession with morning lattes and mochaccinos is still quite strong. Two more large retailers, Target and Best Buy, took the third and fourth spots respectively, while Bank of America rounded out the top five most searched destinations in the country.

TeleNav data from all GPS point of interest (POI) searches for the entire 2009 year indicates that drivers living in or visiting some U.S. cities need more assistance locating local hotspots than in others. Los Angeles took the number one position as the city where most GPS searches occurred in 2009. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area followed in a close second, indicating that while things may be bigger in Texas, it doesn’t always mean they’re easier to find. Chicago, Houston and Atlanta, respectively, rounded out the top five U.S. cities where most GPS searches took place.

TeleNav’s GPS search data also sheds some light on the cuisine preferences of American drivers. Search data from December 2009 showed that pizza is the top food item searched for by customers using TeleNav’s GPS applications. Residents of Chicago led the way in GPS searches for pizza while residents of New York City were most likely to search for the nation’s second preferred cuisine type, Chinese food. Rounding out the top five of America’s most searched food types are burgers, American food and Mexican food, respectively.

“Every month our users are conducting millions of searches while using GPS navigation applications. This data provides a very interesting look into the locations people across the country are searching for while on the road,” said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and vice president, products and marketing for TeleNav. “In addition to searches, our customers are relying on our products to complete millions of trips each month. The data we’ve collected from these trips has helped us identify the features that are most relied on by our users and provides an intriguing look into how GPS usage differs across the country.”

While users in every state depended on GPS guidance to travel, TeleNav’s usage data for the entire 2009 year indicates that residents of Maryland were the most frequent users of GPS guidance, using the technology for twice as many trips per month than the national average. Completing the top five areas with residents relying heavily on GPS navigation to guide them are the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, North Carolina and California.

Traffic remains an issue that many American drivers deal with on a daily basis. To help ease the stress of traffic, TeleNav provides users with real-time traffic information and the option to route around traffic incidents. As one of the nation’s most traffic-plagued cities, it may not be surprising that TeleNav users in Los Angeles chose to use GPS navigation to reroute around traffic more than any other city in the nation. Other top five cities where drivers preferred to use GPS to get around traffic instead of sitting in gridlock included Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago and Atlanta, respectively.

Because TeleNav products are connected, users receive real-time information such as searching for gas stations based on current prices. Data from December 2009 indicates that residents of Phoenix may be the most cost conscious drivers in America, as residents of that city averaged more Gas by Price searches than any other city. In a close second, residents of San Antonio were also looking to save a buck at the pump through Gas by Price searches. Cleveland, Detroit and Jacksonville, respectively, rounded out the top five cities with such economical drivers.

Sprint Provides Cellular and GPS Services to FEMA for its Nationwide Vehicle Tracking Program

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Sept. 21, 2009 —The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is relying on Sprint (NYSE:S) to provide 2,000 Nextel handsets in support of FEMA’s nationwide vehicle tracking system. As part of an agreement signed earlier this year, Sprint is providing handsets equipped with industry-leading Nextel Direct Connect^® and TeleNav Track, a cell phone-based GPS navigation and tracking service. This powerful combination of technologies allows the agency do its job efficiently during an emergency by supporting quick deployment and effective management of its critical resources. As Parents Send Children Off to School, New Poll Suggests College Freshman Aren’t Prepared to Navigate New Surroundings

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – August 31, 2009 – Results of a new poll conducted by TeleNav in partnership with the College Parents of America suggest that while parents are getting students ready to hit the books this fall, they may be failing to get them ready to hit the road. A survey of current college students has found that more than 50 percent were not confident in their ability to find their way around their college town before heading to school for their freshman year*. Additionally, more than 60 percent of all respondents reported they were not familiar with the location of buildings and local businesses in their newly adopted cities, with more than a third of this group saying it had taken them more than three months before they had felt familiar with their new surroundings.

Trouble Finding Emergency Service Providers

Perhaps even more alarming for parents, the poll found that a large number of respondents reported lack of familiarity with the location of emergency service providers in their new communities. More than 50 percent of current college students reported that if faced with an emergency during their freshman year, they would not have been able to locate the nearest police station without the help of a navigational aid or a friend. Forty-four percent of respondents indicated they would not have been able to find the nearest hospital in an emergency.

Getting lost causes safety concerns

Not feeling familiar with their new community isn’t the only issue students reported facing. More than 40 percent of all respondents reported getting lost at least once during their freshman year. Of those respondents, one-quarter said they had felt concern for their safety when lost. Additionally, one in five respondents reported that during their freshman year, they had left a party or social event alone and had been uncertain how to find their way home. The poll results also indicate that the methods students use most often when lost may not be as dependable as parents may hope. The top method students reported using to find their way when lost was to continue driving until they found a landmark or location they recognized. This was followed by depending on another person to provide guidance to their location over the phone.

“Parents need to understand that their children may not feel comfortable or confident finding their way around their new environment as they begin the college experience,” said James Boyle, president of College Parents of America. “The results of this poll suggest that parents should spend just as much time preparing their children to navigate their new community as they do getting them ready for the classroom. Students may not raise this concern with parents during the very stressful days leading up to their move to campus, so parents should take a proactive approach to ensuring their child has the tools to find their way in new surroundings.”

Even short distances can cause concern

Additional poll results suggest that even if parents send their kids to schools within short distances from home, their children may still lack confidence in their ability to find their way around town their freshman year. Forty-five percent of respondents who attend school less than 200 miles from home indicated they weren’t confident finding their way around their college town heading into their freshman year. The confidence level of students declined as the distance between their college and home increased. Of those students who attend a school greater than 200 miles from home, 77 percent indicated they weren’t confident finding their way around town.

Helping students prepare for new surroundings

To help guide them around town, 60 percent of those students heading into their freshman year feeling unfamiliar with their college town indicated they had relied on a navigational aid such as GPS navigation or online maps. Students had placed a high importance on access to navigation aids, with more than 40 percent of respondents indicating GPS navigation should be a priority item for parents to provide to their children entering freshman year. Additionally, nearly one-third of respondents said that if they had had access to GPS navigation on their mobile phones, they would have used this resource at least once a week to find their way while driving around town.

To help parents prepare their children to navigate new communities, College Parents of America has developed a list of tips for parents that may help ease students’ stress as they head off to school.

Arm your child with GPS navigation technology so they can easily find their way to important locations such as emergency providers
On move in day or before, be sure to schedule some time to drive your child around the community, locating emergency providers, the nearest grocery store and other important locations
Create a “lost” kit that can be placed in your child’s vehicle consisting of paper maps of the community, an easy reference list of important numbers and locations, a prepaid mobile phone and a prepaid gas card
Taking the tone of an experienced traveler and not a concerned parent, provide basic navigation advice such as identifying the major roadways in the community and their direction in relation to your child’s new home
Before saying goodbye to your child, simply ask them if they feel confident in their ability to find their way around town
