After a successful first edition in June with a focus on Reykjavik and a second try-out edition at the TodaysArt Festival in September with a focus on Detroit and Kobe, the Hyphae concept is ready to step up a level. This Hyphae event presents a selection of amazing musicians performing live from Brooklyn, Calgary, Copenhagen and The Hague. Next to a physical event in The Hague at Project Space X10, this first ever stand-alone Hyphae event will be organised and celebrated in Brooklyn, Reykjavik, Ljubljana, Berlin and maybe even more cities around the world.

In addition, we are very proud to release the second Hyphae compilation featuring recent tracks by the presented artists, which you can download here for free!

TodaysArt Session #5 - Nordic Sounds

Op 28 oktober vindt de vijfde TodaysArt Session plaats in Korzo. In Session #5 staat hedendaagse elektronische muziek uit Noord-Europa centraal en presenteert TodaysArt zowel gevestigde namen als opkomend talent uit Noorwegen, Finland en IJsland. Het programma bestaat uit avontuurlijke elektronische muziek, met zowel live- als DJ-sets, variërend van donkere en mysterieuze ambient soundscapes tot euphorische, dub en bass geladen, glitchy en minimalistische clubmuziek.

Een van de hoogtepunten is het live elektro-akoestische optreden van Svarte Greiner. Svarte Greiner is het eenmansproject van Erik K. Skodvin uit Langesund, Noorwegen. Skodvin is een van de twee leden van Deaf Center en oprichter van het Miasmah-label en de gelijknamige grafisch ontwerpstudio. Onder dit alias verkent Skodvin een donker, mysterieus en verstoord universum, gedrapeerd in David Lynch-achtige mystiek.

Zeer bijzonder aan deze editie is de showcase van elektronische muzikanten uit IJsland. Het gebeurt zelden dat er in Nederland een directe focus is op de vooruitstrevende en eigenzinnige muziek afkomstig uit dit land. Met namen als Yagya, Ruxpin, Tonik, Skurken en Steindór Kristinsson staat er een ijzersterke selectie van IJslandse muziek op het programma. Ook de in Amsterdam woonachtige Fin Blamstrain zal voor de eerste maal nieuw materiaal ten gehore brengen tijdens de Session.

HYPHAE! TiD IS BACK

TiD is eindelijk weer terug met een nieuw project; HYPHAE! Hyphae zal een maandelijks terugkomend fenomeen worden waarbij de hele wereld wordt verenigt in sublieme live-acts en concerten. Komend weekend worden een groep van acht muzikanten uit IJsland via de Hyphae-Stream in het daglicht gezet.

Hyphae organiseert namelijk streaming events waarbij twee fysieke feest locaties met elkaar worden gedeeld doormiddel van beeld en geluid. De eerste editie van HYPHAE is bij te wonen bij het Korzo Theater in Den Haag of in Bakkus in Reykjavik. Kun je niet fysiek aanwezig zijn? Volg dan het event dan live op HYPHAE.NL

Recently, CIANT from Prague produced a series of talks in the field of data research and development, Datapolis.

Muziek downloaden via google

Voor alle muziekofielen laat ik zien hoe je snel de meeste muziek/ebooks/kleine programmaatjes kan downloaden via google.

Het zit simpel inelkaar.. Mensen op verschillende blogs zetten graag 'illegale' muziek online om te laten horen aan hun bezoekers.
Dit gebeurd meestal op grote filesharing services als mediafire.com / rapidshare en nog veel meer van dat soort sites..
Google indexeerd die pagina's dus je kan via google de site afzoeken naar media..

Hoe gaat dat in z'n werk:

bijv ik wil nathan fake - sky is pink (james holden remix)

of bijvoorbeeld het nieuwe album van james blake in zip hebben

of dat verschikkelijk dure schoolboek in pdf, er zijn genoeg mogelijkheden

soms zie je dat de bestanden door mediafire eraf worden getrokken. Vaak is het album dan zo populair dat de volgende dag 5 nieuwe versies op staan.. Eigelijk is het uiteindelijk niet meer te controleren voor de muziek industrie waar hun album zal opduiken.

Opening voor de big brother award waar 'natuurlijk' de overheid vandoor ging met de hoofdprijs

(denk aan electronische patienten dossier - ov chip - centrale opslag voor vingerafdrukken / etc etc)

en er wordt nog gezwegen over datamining van social networks je merkt er alleen nog niets van. (datamining = zoeken naar verbanden in bak met informatie, bijvoorbeeld 3 kwart van je vrienden is 40 jaar jonger, dus je valt in de 'pedocategorie' (of je bent een leraar, maar je bent dan toch mooi de klos!) )

De eerste editie van FIBER Festival vindt plaats op zaterdag 15 januari, in de Verdieping in club Trouw Amsterdam. FIBER presenteert jong aanstormend talent binnen video kunst (projection mapping, video kunst en (interactieve) installaties) en elektronische muziek. Tijdens de dag en nacht zijn er optredens, performances en presentaties door studenten, bedrijven, live-acts, dj’s en vernieuwende visuele artiesten.

Michael Persinger is telling us that he found a way to generate the "God" feeling. A feeling that religious people have when they go to church for example, the feeling that "something" is there. With this God helmet it's made possible to stimulate specific regions of the brain. By activating a special part of the brain, the user of the helmet enters a different state of consciousness. Would this be true? Almost all people that used the God helmet say that they enter a weird kind of dreamy/trippy state. Want to try it yourself? Journalism in the Age of Data [stanford.edu] is a must-see documentary of about 54 minutes, 'starring' some of the most talented and well-known data visualization practitioners of today. The covered topics are wide, but include contemporary issues like Visualization in Journalism, Telling "Data Stories", Exploring Data or Technology and Tools. It was produced during the U.S. Knight Journalism Fellowship by Geoff McGhee, titled "Documenting emerging uses of data visualization".

After the book Life Inc, Rushkoff is here with a new book. This book called Program or Be Programmed. He asks us questions about the amount of people programming in our world. He suggests that programming should be a similar progress when everybody learns to write. We didn't only learn to read when books were available, we also learned to write ourselves. I Don't know if he's totally right about the fact that everybody should be able to program, but I do think it's going to be a fresh critical book. Coming soon: Program or Be Programmed.

"Apple is opening up its iTunes App Store – from which people can download apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch – so that developers can write programs for it without using Apple's own software.

It also says that it is publishing the guidelines used to review apps before they are approved for the store, which should ease a bone of contention with developers who have been frustrated by the opaque nature of the reviewing system.

The move to open the store to software written using non-Apple products will forestall the threat of an anti-trust investigation which had looked possible after Apple blocked apps written using Adobe software tools. The two companies have been engaged in a tussle for months over Apple's refusal to incorporate Adobe's Flash software, used on many desktop computers, on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch – collectively known as "iOS devices".
