The accident has left the town and Aero Club in shock and we would like to pass our sympathies to Tom's family along with the Museum staff and volunteers who have been hit hard.

January and early February have seen lots of Tecnam activity with almost 100 hours flown in January alone. Students and visiting pilots included Bill Pascoe from Canberra spending a week on intensive flying lessons, along with fellow Canberra residents Darcy and Jessie Molyneux taking a Trial Introductory Flight each. The Tecnam so impressed their father Gavin that he came back with the boys in February and took a flight himself.

Local Ariah Park farmer Kevin Harper has taken up the challenge of learning to fly and has been doing his best to introduce Jill to the actitivies of a farmer by offering time in the header during harvest. Along with that opportunity Jill went out to Kevin's farm at shearing time with Brazilian exchange student John-Paul and local resident Joan Westman to watch sheep being shorn.

It must be the month for issuing licences with congratulations due to Cootamundra resident Scott Sharman, visiting glider pilot Peter Hokkanen, local Aviation Museum technician Mitchell Liebich and Italian visitor Domenico Muscolino. Look out for an article in the Temora Independent next week about Domenico and his very interesting life.

Peter Hokkanen arrived in his Nimbus 3 from Benalla with an outlanding due to a line of thunderstorms, stayed 5 days and went home with a Recreational Licence and the Tecnam grin.

Lindsay has been clocking up impressive time instructing and sent his first student, Darren Price, solo recently. Darren, from West Wyalong has been flying very consistently and enjoyed the opportunity to go home with an even bigger Tecnam grin than usual. Congratulations for first solos also go to James Childs, and Robyn Otley.

Robyn and her husband Garath have purchased a block on the aviation estate and hope to retire to Temora in the not to distant future.

...Local couple Sal and Justin Anderson have been enthusiastically flying at every opportunity and making great strides in their flying.

In March we hope to have a fly away to Shepparton for the weekend, and don't forget our Tuesday night pilot nights, this Tuesday Rod Luke will be walking us through controlled airspace procedure, bring your Canberra VTC and Sydney VNC. If you don't have one, Jill will have some limited spares to use.

Wings over Illawarra 2009

<dc:subject>Home</dc:subject>

(null)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

<dc:subject>Home</dc:subject>

Lots of activity this month, not as much flying due to harvest, wind, rain and other weather. In early December a gaggle of aircraft flew in from Cessnock Aero Club for a POPE (Partners of Pilots Emergencies) course. The men flew off to Cootamundra for a boys night, while the ladies attended school, learning about radios, GPS's, emegency procedures, practical navigation techniques and transponders. Later that day, two ladies went flying in the Tecnam to apply some of the principles and techniques learned and all pronounced themselves much happier. On the way home the next day the ladies were pleasantly surprised at how proficient in these techniques they were and how much happier their respective partners were with them sharing the workload and contributing to the flight. We have also reinstated the pilot information evenings on Tuesday nights at the clubhouse starting at 8.00pm. In the past, these pilot information nights were to keep pilots up to date on new rules, remind pilots about old rules and introduce new information and interesting pilot info. Recent talks have included a run through on the weather information available on www.temoraflighttraining.temoraaeroclub.net along with talks about SAR watch, submitting flight plans and flight notes, new changes to CTAF procedures in February 2009, a talk by Stewart Ferguson about AUSSAR and the new PLB beacons, along with general discussions about lift, drag, aircraft performance and weather. Next year we will have presentations from Rod Luke about controlled airspace (of keen interest to RA-Aus pilots who will soon be able to add this endorsement to their certificates), along with talks about weight and balance, circuit procedures, changes to legislation, etc. If you are interested, these nights will start up again on January 27th at 8.00pm. If there are any topics you would like to cover or questions you might have, contact Jill or Alan or come along, you might enjoy it! We have also recently enjoyed visits from Garath and Robyn Otley, club members from the South Coast, along with a visiting pilot from Italy, Domenico Muscolino, who very much enjoyed flying an Italian aircraft in Australia! New club members include Ray Foley and Justin Anderson. Check out the attached photos for the proud moment.

The Temora Flight Training Tecnam has managed 74 hours since going on line in late September and on one memorable day a total of 8 hours in one day was flown utilising both aircraft with Jill, Alan and Lindsay being the three instructors involved. Lindsay has been clocking up some good instructing time.

We would like to welcome new students and club members: Lloyd Maxwell, James Childs, Peter Kowalski, Jeff Doggett, Darren Price, Rick Slapp, Rod Martin, Chris Clark.

It's good to see dedicated students back like Damian Walker and David Yee, who drive from Murrum Bateman and Mt Tomah respectively. Recent achievements include a first solo for Sal Anderson, a cross country endorsement for Barry Mapham, and an RA-Aus Pilot Certificate for Chris Clark.

Up and Coming Events

<dc:subject>Home</dc:subject>

Aerobatic Championships - Sat-Mon Oct 4th-6th
