Jaime from Design Milk posted this yesterday and I think it's pretty cool.

Masterpiece is a sculpture made of painted acrylic that resembles a cloth-covered painting, which has yet to be revealed. The artist, who goes by “Whatshisname,” is making a statement about artwork that regardless of what has already been created, there is always the next masterpiece to uncover.

Ashley over at 7thHouseOnTheLeft wrote a great article about using wrapping paper as art last month that I wanted to share with you. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to buying wall art, look no further that your own closet! Some wall paper out there is actually quite nice, and for the cost of a frame you can create some cool, unique wall hangings. Check it out:

Ditching the Frame: Simple Alternative Ways to Hang Art

Going frameless can be great for a number of reasons. It lends itself to a casual collected look and it is low commitment, making it easy to keep things fresh by changing out your artwork.

All paintings from TenthFloorDecor are gallery wrapped and do not require a frame, however here are a few suggestions on how to creatively display artwork you have have purchased elsewhere… feel free to add your own to the comments below.

1. Clip it. I used all purpose clips purchased from Black Ink to display one of my own photographs in my kitchen. For added support I used a piece of acid free tape over the back.

2. Mount it. Many artists are choosing to present their artwork mounted on Gaterboard for gallery presentation. The trend has a clean, modern feeling when used at home, as seen in Blade and Amy's Modern Miscellaneous House Tour.

3. Use an Easel. Propping your piece on an artist's easel, as you see in La Danas Yellowtrace Sidney Apartment, is a fitting presentation that works well with large scale pieces.

4. Pin It. If the prints aren't too precious and you're not afraid of putting a few holes in the wall, simple tacks work great. Use brass pins for a slightly more grown up version of this dorm room classic.

The Luxury 35th Street Home by Lazar Design/Build

The luxury 35th Street Home by Lazar Design/Build on Manhattan Beach, California is Steve Lazar’s recent project is a contemporary home he designed for his family in Manhattan Beach. While ascending a series of Mangaris wood steps, one walks alongside a river of water flowing over riverbed stones that lead to the entrance of the home. The entire three-story structure is comprised of stained and polished Mangaris wood, and the immediate impression is that the visitor has just arrived at an island resort. Inspiration from the islands is apparent throughout his design, as this home would be just as comfortable in Maui as it is in Manhattan Beach. It is well poised to take advantage of coastal breezes from all direction.

Stepping up to the living room, a panoramic view of the shoreline is visible through sliding-glass pocket doors. Contemporary furniture, spaciously placed, adorns the living spaces, creating a fresh, breathing environment. Accents of blue and green appear throughout the home, evoking the seaside surroundings.

The spacious kitchen is comprised of stainless steel appliances with blue/green reflective mosaic tile. A dining room adjoins the kitchen area, and clean custom cabinetry with stainless steel finishes reveal more of Lazar’s attention to craftsmanship.

Google Campus By Jump Studios

Internet giant Google will run this shared workplace for startup technology companies that interior designers Jump Studios have just completed in the area nicknamed Silicon Roundabout in Shoreditch, London.

Occupying a seven storey building, the Google Campus contains a series of flexible open-plan workspaces and lockers that accommodate hot desking.

At ground level is a reception desk decorated with multicoloured Duplo bricks, beyond which a wall of reclaimed fruit crates provides shelving for books, magazines, pin boards and clocks.

I think it would be amazing to work in this type of space with other startups. We have something similar in the city with General Assembly. Spaces like this are great for encouraging creativity and collaboration. Would you want to work here?

The first time we offered these paintings they sold out in THREE DAYS. I was expecting high demand for these paintings, but I was shocked (and a little overwhelmed) by how quickly we sold out. As a result a lot of people were unable to buy them the first time around, so now's your chance!
