Terrapins Rising in its 3rd year, debuts this coming Tuesday night at 9:30 PM on Comcast Sports network.

Adrian Bowie is going to Houston to train with Maryland legend John Lucas according to terrapintimes.com.

I got lots of positive feedback on the interview with new Baseball Coach Eric Bakich. He seems extremely confident.

Brock Parker, a former University of Maryland student won 2 events at the WSOP, both 6 handed Texas holdem games.

Brett Cecil, former Maryland closer, is on the mound for Toronto tonight vs the O’s.

Four Terrapin Swimmers to Compete at USA World Championship Trials

INDIANAPOLIS - Four University of Maryland swimmers are poised to compete in the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships (World Championship Trials) in Indianapolis this week. On the men’s side, incoming sophomore Andrew Relihan will compete in the 400 IM on Tuesday, 200 IM on Friday and conclude his trials with a stint in the 200 back Saturday.

Patty DeScenza, who will serve as captain for the second-straight season for the Terps in 2009-10, is swimming in the 200 fly Friday. CSCAA Scholar All-American and NCAA Championship participant Annie Fittin will compete in the 100 back Wednesday. Rising sophomore Lia Reich will participate in the 400 free relay Wednesday.

Trembley Keep The Flames of the Fire Going!!!!!

One of my complaints about Manager Trembley is that he never seems to let out his anger or emotion. The interview after the 10-9 come from behind win over Boston was about as dull as one could be for the greatest comeback in O’s history. Last night Trembley just about went off the deep end objecting a botched call in the first. After getting tossed, Luke Scott said to him on the way in—Don’t worry skip we’ll get this one for you. Final score 12-4 O’s. Luke has a homer and 7 rbis.HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! A fired up team–seemed to work for Billy Martin.

Frank Urso , Terrapin All American Middie puts the team on his shoulder and defeats Les Matthews and the Johns Hopkins Bluejays 10-9 in OT for the NCAA title. Jeremiah Johnson’s Dream Comes True–Verbally Commits to Maryland

Suitland High Defensive back (5″11″ 154 lbs) Jeremiah Johnson received his first scholarship offer from Maryland and accepted 5 minutes later. From Matt Bracken’s blog in the Sun comes the following:

“I guess first off, because it’s the hometown team and I always root for the hometown team,” Johnson said. “I’ve been watching football since I was young, and my dad was a big Maryland fan. He actually lived right across the street from Maryland’s campus. A lot of my family [members are] Maryland fans. And I like Coach Friedgen and the program that he runs.”Suitland coach Ed Shields was surprised Johnson didn’t have other scholarship offers, although he expected they would eventually come. Still, Johnson’s recruitment progressed in a somewhat natural fashion. “I really think he was flying under the radar,” Shields said. “That’s just one where I think Maryland had seen the highlight film, they had seen his results from combines and stuff like that, so it’s just one of those things. And it’s really good, because Maryland should get the ones in their backyard that other people haven’t caught onto yet. That’s the way it ought to work, so it worked out very well.”

Funny how things work out. A week ago , we stated on Terp Talk–keep Salazar and trade Felix Pie. Ironically these are 2 players that have drawn interest from the pennant chasers in baseball. Expect both to be gone by the All Star break.

Robbie Rogers Makes Statement in USA Win Over Grenada in Soccer

Two-time defending CONCACAF Gold Cup champion USA didn’t waste any time jumping ahead of Grenada. Former Maryland star, Robbie Rogers collected two assists and a goal to help the USA to a 4-0 win. Roberts was named Man Of The Match for his efforts.

“We had a great team effort tonight,” Rogers said. “The chemistry was really good, and we were able to create a lot of chances. For us, it is a fantastic way to start the Gold Cup, and at the same time we know it is only the beginning.” The article comes from goal.com.

Over 500 people were turned away from entering the WSOP Main Event on Monday. A total of 6494 registered for the event creating a 60 million dollar plus prize pool. After the 4 day one segments 3433 remain in battle. Some of the leaders include well know pros Phil Hellmuth,Jr, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, Mike Matasow, and Jason Alexander (Seinfeld). Play continues today.
