I noticed that on my “ESL Vidoes” blog, that videos that I had embedded in my pages were not getting listed in the “Sites Linking to This Video” part of the YouTube.com’s pages.

Why?

Because I had the videos set to “autoplay.”
For a while, I removed the “autoplay” from my embedded YouTube code and noticed that my pages were getting listed.

So, if you want to embed videos from YouTube and you do not want your page listed in the “Sites Linking to …”, all you have to do is have to do is add the “&autoplay=1″ in 2 places in the embed code.

If you don’t know how, try this search:
http://www.google.com/search?=autoplay+youtube

I’ve enabled this menu for Mac Safari users.

I still give visitors using other browsers the older menu, since this one doesn’t work on all pages for them yet.

Both Windows Safari and Chrome show the drop-down part of the menu behind embedded Flash. (I know how to fix this, but each page with Flash needs to be fixed, so it will take a while.)

Windows IE and Firefox on both Windows and Mac, have problems with the some pages with Flash. (This, too, can be tweaked by changing the default Flash embed code on each page, but it will take time.)

Known bug on all browsers: The drop-down part of the menu gets hidden by embedded Java applets. I haven’t been able to find a solution for this problem. However, clicking the top menu item takes the visitor to the appropriate “menu page” which is the traditional way to navigate this website.

See an example of this code in action at http://www.manythings.org/b/e/tags.

1. First you make a page template file by copying the following code and pasting it into a file named “tags.php” This “tags.php” file should be put inside the folder of your currently-used theme (on your webserver)

2. Then to make your “All Tags” page, you go to “Write a Page”, select “All Tags” as the template, give the page the title “All Tags” (or a similar title in your own language), and leave the page empty.

3. Optional (You may skip this step): To get a short, easy-to-remember, and easy-to-type URL, change the “slug” to just “tags”. How clean your URL looks may depend on your “permalinks” settings.

<?php /*
Template Name: All Tags
*/ ?>
<?php get_header(); ?>
<?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<div class="post">
<h2><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<?php wp_tag_cloud('number=9999&smallest=9&largest=72'); ?>
</div>
<?php endwhile; endif; ?>
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
<?php get_footer(); ?>
</div>

You can edit the &smallest=9&largest=72 sizes if you like, but I like to have a large range, so it’s obvious which tags only appear on one post, and which are very popular. However, this may look a bit strange on a “young” blog with only a few tags.
