Triple 8

Today was our first time trying Triple 8 restaurant, and I was really impressed! Triple 8 China Bar & Grill opened not too long ago on the L.A. Live campus in downtown L.A. Since it is Dine L.A. Restaurant Week, we decided to take advantage of their special lunch menu. You get to pick one selected appetizer, entrée and dessert for twenty dollars per person. Since Tiff was with me, we ordered opposite of each other because we like variety.

Tiff ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad for her appetizer and the Black Pepper Mignon Beef for her entree. I got the Peking Duck Bun and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. The chicken salad was very refreshing; Tiff and I really liked the dressing and the fresh lettuce. We especially liked the fried wonton, which added texture to the salad.

The Peking duck bun was served with pickled cucumber and some green onions inside the bun. I am not a fan of green onions but the pickled cucumber worked great with the duck. We really dig the crunch of the cucumber and the moist and tenderness of the duck. Along with some drizzle of the hoisin sauce, the appetizer was completely devoured in our bellies.

The mignon beef was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had. It was so tender, I can taste it melt in my mouth. Red onion is not one of my favorite, but the way it was cooked in harmony with the beef was pure goodness.

The honey walnut shrimp was very scrumptious and lightly coated with mayonnaise. This was important for me and Tiff since we are watching our waistline, we definitely didn’t think the mayonnaise overwhelmed the shrimp at all. These entrees also came with white Jasmine rice or brown rice. You can most certainly opt out on the rice if you are trying to lay off some carbs.

This was a good lunch, we were completely satisfied and service was great. Our server was very nice. Looking at their menu I would think this place is a little too pricey for me, but after tasting the quality of the food and the culinary skills of the chefs, this place is worth trying out. Eating well is part of your health and you want to make sure you treat yourself to good restaurants that serve fresh foods because, after all, some do say, “you are what you eat”. If you are in the area, I hope you get a chance to explore Dine L.A. Restaurant week!

Angus Steak Sandwich

A quick review of this succulent Steak Sandwich is a must, because it is just so good! Today is actually our second time coming back during the week and the experience was just as wonderful as the first.

On a typical day at work, we bring our own lunches because it can get pretty expensive eating out every day. However, we like to spoil ourselves from time to time by exploring all the wonderful food places that downtown LA has to offer. Today was one of those luxurious and fun days!

One of our buddies from work always raves about the Gyro Steak and Lamb sandwich from George’s Greek Grill. The smell and looks of it was very tempting, so we made sure to try it. Since Ha and I are not at all fans of Lamb, we decided to go with this scrumptious Angus Steak Sandwich. As you can see, the steak was grilled to perfection – not too rare and not too well done. It was moist and juicy. Every bite had my taste buds wanting more. It reminds me of a Steak Pita wrap; however the Chimichurri marinating in the steak gives you a taste of Greece, as far as I know.

The Cranberries

Today’s melody includes a classic band and, of course, one of my most favorites in the alternative rock genre, The Cranberries. Dolores’ voice is so originally beautiful and unique that I can’t help but slip into a daydream of wondrous thoughts throughout the work week. Resonating in my head all day long, I’m reminded of fond memories of the past like dancing with my niece at nearly one-month old to When You’re Gone, singing most of my childhood years away to Zombie whenever I’m with my sister, and still today I am dreaming of finding success and love through Dreams.

Often and sadly, I forget about the kind of moments that make me feel alive and happy because I have already absent-mindedly archived them due to my busy lifestyle. However, I love embracing moments like today when music acts as a portal for my mind to briefly escape reality and into a realm purely made up of sweet and fond memories.

The Cure “Friday, I’m In Love” always takes me back to summer days on the beach when I was just a teeny weeny lady in my early twenties. Soaking in the warm sun while playing in the water or running in the sand with my dogs were my every day summer routine. On the contrary, nowadays I sit most of my days away in an office stressing about deadlines. This is a sign of adulthood. Albeit the negativity that comes with adulthood, there’s also so much more to appreciate like how today is Friday! It is time to celebrate the weekend – days when you can dance on the beach, do whatever you want, enjoy, relax and simply fall in love with anyone or anything! I know, I am.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are in an era where women are not only holding more profound leadership roles in today’s society, but women are even holding onto their own pants and wearing them in the most upbeat fashionable way! Collectively, I personally feel we speak our intentions vicariously through our own choices of fashion wear. If our outfits make us look unique, bold, elegant, sexy, powerful, and beautiful, then it is by choice that we want everyone to perceive us by every single one of those characteristics. Essentially, we wear what we feel and we often want everyone else to see how we feel.

Born circa 1920's during the First World War against Britain, The Pants Suit, aka Trouser Suits, was worn by women as they peaked their way into the industrial workforce. More apparent in mid 1960s, The Pants Suit essentially became a fashion statement to show women in power and enforced gender equality. Well-known fashion designers at the time promoted the idea and it created a widespread of believers as well as non-believers that dubbed the attire as inappropriate and mimicry to the male gender. For example, Yves Saint Laurent introduced his LeSmoking line of evening suits for women that resembled a gentlemen’s tuxedo. Although women’s triumph over respect and power has been an on-going struggle even in today’s society, we have made much progress in gaining a pool of acceptance as well as transcending The Pant Suit to “Women in Power” attire with elegance and extreme admiration.

Leading by example, I have featured a few of my most favorite women of tomorrow who sports The Pant Suit with great charisma. I believe their immaculate success and power in their own talents are sending the most perfect message of women in power through wearing the Pants Suit.

Taylor Swift is our rock star queen, heroine of love and our Woman of the Year. Let’s make her Woman every year because I definitely see her holding the spotlight for an eternity. She selects a stunning white tuxedo-like suit by J.Mendel at the 2012MTV Music Video Awards.

Scarlett Johansson is a talented actress and has been renowned for her heroic role of Black Widow: the first female avenger from the Marvel universe! She selects a bold red pantsuit by MichaelKors at the 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier Premier.

Maggie Q is my role model of all models and actresses because she is simply a remarkable person. She has a huge compassion for dogs, major skills in martial arts, always does her own stunts, and a persistent type-A personality relevant in her achievements through career successes in film, modeling and especially in her involvement with the dog-community (PETA). As for her choice of style for the Pant Suit, she wore a simple classy and chic black jumpsuit by Yves Saint Laurent at The Late Night Show with David Letterman in 2014 promoting the launch of the movie Divergent.

Emma Stone is another successful actress that everyone love for her humor and beautiful soul. You may have fallen in love with her in Crazy, Stupid, Love, Birdman, and The Amazing Spider-Man just to name a few. She stunned everyone at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards in a gorgeous pantsuit embellished with sparkling diamonds by Lanvin.

Last but not least, Emma Watson is a leading young lady and has already taken on many prominent roles at only age 25. At age 9, she made her way to the public eye as the adorable and witty witch named Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter film series. As of today, she is keeping busy not only in the film industry but also making an impact on the world. Currently, she is in the midst of filming Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (cast as the beautiful Belle) as well as taking the role as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador appointed to her back in 2014. Relevant in her courageous speech about gender equality at the UN Women HeforShe campaign, Emma gives us a reason to admire her endlessly. Emma looks sharp in a classic black and white pant suit when she attended David Letterman Late Night show inMarch 2014 during the release of the movie Noah where she portrays Ila, the adopted daughter of Noah.

While looking lavishly stunning and confident in their choice of the Pant Suit, these ladies as well as others not mentioned here, have much on their shoulders than what meets the eye. They are all beautiful as well as talented, brave, and strong. They all have endured obstacles and loopholes to be given the recognition they deserve in present day. In essence, their embodiment of the Pant Suit mirrors the type of values they each hold which serves the most perfect portrayal of “women in power”. No longer is the Pant Suit made to mimic men superiority, but I believe it has now transcended to tailor and beautify the women physique as a stand for power.

Beach Goers

It is full blown beach season in California. Despite the gloomy weather and humid air us Californians have been experiencing lately, the beaches are still the happening spot. To me, going to the beach is such a natural remedy to life and work balance. It clears my mind and heart from anything negative because the fresh salt water breeze and the sound of crashing waves truly bring me to a tranquil and uninterrupted piece of mind.

Besides the wonderful nature of the sea, the attire for the beach requires minimal effort. Hooray! If you are anything like me, I don’t like wearing my bathing suit all day because I get cold easily. After swimming, I prefer to slip into a cover up. A cover up can be a nice over-sized shirt that covers up the top part of your body, a light-weight dress or even a hooded sweater. Since I have had two kids, I am a little shy with my body so I am always sure to bring a cover up with me to wear when I am not in the water. And besides, I’m pretty conservative with it comes down to my swim wear. But that is another story to be told later. For now, I’d like to share some of my “Must Haves” cover ups for this summer season. These cover ups can be worn all day at the beach or even at a fancy pool party. Either way, I am really infatuated with these items and I hope you like them too, not to mention they are on sale right now from Victoria’s Secret. It is never a bad idea to snag good stuff for less than full price especially if it is from a popular brand.

Gloomy days always have me craving for comfort food like the ones my mom perfects so deliciously since childhood. Today, I am craving Pho; a healthy Vietnamese dish composed of fresh beef broth, vermicelli noodles, sliced onions, Thai basil, cooked bean sprouts, green onions, a splash of lime and side condiments of hoisin sauce and Siracha for extra flavor! One other ingredient that is my most favorite that is often served only in a few authentic restaurants is Culantro. What I love about Culantro is its crunchy texture and herby flavors that brings out the authenticity of the dish. It just mixes so well with all the other ingredients making the dish so warm and comfy in my belly. Here is something similar you can make all on your own: All Recipes. I hope all of you enjoy!

Sea Otters

Did you know that sea otters are part of the weasel family? While they look so cute and cuddly, the male otters can be very aggressive and would bite the female's nose during mating time. Although, this behavior is unacceptable it is hard to not adore such cute sea furries. In my family, we call them sea Cody because they look like our dog, Cody, so cute and fluffy.

Declaration of Independence

Did you know by coincidence the only two signers of the Declaration of Independence and later holding the US Presidency seat, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day on July 4th 1826 marking the 50th anniversary of the Declaration. And again, another U.S. president and also a founding partner of the declaration, James Monroe died on July 4th in 1831. On the brighter side of the spectrum, the only U.S. president to be born on this day was Calvin Coolidge in 1872.

Healthy BBQ

Fire up the grill and let the barbecue and good company begin. Every year Tiff and I celebrate the Fourth with poolside barbecue and homemade strawberry lemonade. Barbecuing in the summer is so much fun; it is such a great and economical way to spend quality time with family. This year I have been a little more health conscious with the foods I eat. I’ve been sticking to more vegetables and have lessened my intake on carbohydrates. It is extremely hard for me to keep this healthy diet and definitely wouldn’t want to break my streak because of today. Since breaking the tradition of barbecuing is not an option, I have come up with some good ideas to barbecue that won’t burst your cholesterol levels. All the chips, beer, dip and grilled meat can lead to bad indigestions or worse a lot of grilling of meat can lead to cancerous outcomes. And because you only live once, you want to make sure you treat yourself and your family to healthier eating. Grilled vegetables such as bell peppers, mushrooms and squash are delicious and require minimal efforts. Pineapple and peaches are also good for grilling. Also a good substitution for meat is fish. Season any fish filet (I prefer tilapia since it is cheaper) with salt and pepper then wrap it in foil and it is ready to pop in the grill and depending on the thickness of the fish it should take about 10-15 minutes. I like to eat my fish with mango salsa. I hope all of you had a good fourth and lots of good healthy eats!

Today we celebrate Independence Day – the day of the everyday we are liberated to act on our dreams, goals and decisions to live the life we want. We are fortunate to live in a nation that allows us to be free spirited. To celebrate this very liberated day, I am celebrating it with family by the poolside with delicious barbecue and dressing up in simple, casual and comfy patriotic wears. I chose my blue rustic denim shorts to go with my tan lace haltered top. To add some patriotic flare, I paired my outfit with subtle red Volcom sandals. Also, my little pups wanted to join in on the fun too so I made them matching bandanas! What are you wearing today?

Fourth Throwback

July fourth is just around the corner and I can hardly wait for the festivities to start. Here is a quick throwback to last year’s Fourth of July with Tiff and me grabbing some ribs at Sprouts for our barbecue. The weather was just so perfect and we decided to complement our patriotic tanks with a fedora. We don’t normally purposely try to be twins, but since we both wanted to wear the tank top we made an exception. The tank top was very lightweight and was fairly priced at Target. This top can either be paired with denim shorts or long jeans. This is truly a versatile piece and can be re-worn even after the holiday!

Third Eye Blind

My pick of the day for music is Third Eye Blind. This band gained its popularity in 1997 through their self-titled album, Third Eye Blind. This album definitely takes me back in time to my youthful Junior high school days. I can still remember cranking my stereo up to "How's it going to be" and "Losing a whole year". Every track on this album is so incredibly executed. I almost forgot how much I loved it. And not to mention, who could have resisted the ever so good looking and talented guitarist and vocalists, Stephen Jenkins. Today is one of those days when I definitely feel like walking down memory lane to all those oldies but goodies music.

Fashion is a huge factor in life, because every piece of clothing you wear has a story. We can all admit that what we wear can sometimes dictate our moods, which is a key aspect to looking and feeling great. However, today, I’d like to take a step back from Fashion and talk about something just as important and that is your skin.

I feel that I can wear all the nice clothes I want, but if my skin doesn’t feel healthy, I am not going to feel confident about myself. I am sure there are cosmetics out there that can cover up blemishes, dryness etc. However, nothing will make you look better than your natural glow. Taking care of your skin is really the first step to feeling confident. Your skin is the biggest part of you that is presented to the world every day, so make sure you treat it well.

As we are moving into summer, the humidity of summer can soften your skin and help retrieve the moisture that was lost in winter. However, too much heat also increases your sweat production which can create more oils to clog pores. Everybody has different skin types. Make sure you are aware of the type of skin you have so you can nourish your skin according to the season. Remember to protect your skin from the sun. Excessive sun exposure is very damaging to your skin so make sure you apply sunscreen every 45 minutes to prevent ultraviolet rays. If you have sensitive skin like me, I would recommend using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Light Weigh Clean feel. From my past experience, I’ve never liked to apply sunscreen on my face because it would make my face feel greasy; however, Neutrogena really brought light to my situation. This product is completely light weight (as stated on the product) and it doesn’t smell bad either. Enjoy the sun but be smart doing it!

Lace

Not until five years ago did my sister and I develop a mad crush for Lace. Come to find out that Lace is just simply vintage, elegant, classy and most definitely historical. Lace existed during the 16th century and was found dominant more for fashion in northwestern Europe. As you can see, it didn’t take long for Lace to gain popularity all over the world. Lace can be incorporated in almost anything from apparel to accessories! I can only hope that lace continues to be influential in fashion and prevail through time. Dress like you’re royal, be bold, be vintage…wear lace!

I would like to share a few of my favorite dresses with lace incorporation. Firstly, I truly adore Taylor Swift’s ivory dress designed by Elie Saab. She may have worn this dress in 2012 at the ARIA Awards, but it still holds a top spot in my book. This dress may not be all lace but the lace side panels really work for me. The lace insets completely define the dress and help add elegance to the bustier-looking top and draped chiffon skirt.

Second picture reveals the black dresses I find bold and chic which are also by Elie Saab. He’s infamous for his lace designs and elegant wear. From the beaded details to the sheer embroideries, these dresses wouldn’t be perfect without the incorporation of lace on the sleeves and chest.

Taking Lace back to its royal roots, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, posed in an Alexander McQueen dress at a National Thanksgiving Service for The Queen. This dress exudes sophistication and class which is made to fit a Duchess. I like the dark champagne silk belt contrast, which I feel defines the waistline and add curvature to Catherine’s physique. I would say that she is embracing the royal look perfectly.

If you never thought about wearing lace before, please think again. Lace is truly an asset to the fashion world and it can make you fall in love once you start embracing the look in your wardrobe.

Morning Grace

Hi everyone! Our names are Tiffany and Ha and we are sisters and welcome to our wardrobe, a place for us to share our vision of endless transformations and love for seamless designs.

As we feel a quick and simple bio is a must; we come from a dog-loving family of 3 sisters, loving parents, and 5 beautiful furry children. We have a close bond and feel very fortunate to be graced with such a fate to have each other for support and happiness until the end of time, time, time! ( Anyone remember this line from Just Friends? The whole movie is just pure comedy and we love it so much!)

Today we had an early start and needed extra charge for the rest of our day so we decided to take a morning stroll for our Green Tea Latte and Hot Caramel Apple Cider. A great and highly recommended choice for all you caffeine free peeps :)

We dressed totally opposites today with Ha in Black & Blue and sneakers for street-wear comfort and Tiff in all neutral White & Tan. We just love being our true self and feeling okay about it especially through a wardrobe that represents who we are as individuals and we want everyone to feel the same!
