Just tell me why on Poker Stars is it that every fckn time I have AK vs any pair the AK blanks and if I have the pair vs AK, the AK hits every time, even if I have KK, then the AK hits a Ace ... if I have QK vs Q7 then the 7 hits, if I had the Q7 and the 7 hit, then the K would follow. I just bubbled a game that I was leading strong, where this shit happened 6 times almost one right after each other - why does it never happen in my favor did Stars ever hear of odds evening out, it's not just lately, it's always been this way ... I'm getting sick of this crap, I've tried my damnedest to keep quite and not bitch, but the constant continuation of this bullshit is just too much.

A whole lot!!!!

First he bought me a new poker chip set. I'll take pictures and post them in a few as my camera is out in the car, and well, I am too lazy to go and get it right now. It is by American Heritage, who also make Billiards tables, etc. I wanted slightly heavier chips (more of the 12 g range) but I like these. We've been playing with our friend's set (whom for the purposes of protecting the guilty and undeserving, I shall nickname Gun Nut) which feature the San Antonio Spurs Logo. The problem with those particular chips is that it is difficult to differentiate between the black and white chips.

Second, he got me tickets to go see Texas Hippie Coalition tonight. They are my new favorite band. Imagine if Pantera and Lynyrd Skynyrd got together and had an ugly love child.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjCtHgNEcV0

He even got a sitter for tonight so we can go together!!! Yeah!!!

And as a side note: tomorrow is my last day of teaching for a while. I give my students their finals tomorrow and then I finish my last bits of research and starting in August, I write my dissertation!!!! Yeah!!!! Almost done!

check out how bad i played my AK... no excuse here, but before playing them i hadn't seen any good cards an the chip donk with 141k was just playing everything, AK sucks big time not just because of this hand,,, even if try to play poker with ak he was going no-where so i made a donk call ALL IN instead of seeing the flop an try 2out play him "NOT"

even though the blinds were what they were it was RuSSian-Roollette on the table with cards.

the gl tell was to player1, had some good battles with him thru out the tourny
at different tables go i said gl back 2him when we met up on this tables had nothing 2do with my call like i was done

2nd time i get deep in a tourny an i was wasn't thinking of my goal to make the final table with a call like that.should of folded, lost my focus :rolleyes:(great prices top 6)

this is what i learned from it, i can't lose focus regardless what any1 else is playing i had enuff chips to ride another donk-storm an wait to be in position to double up or triple up which was my first tough an i wanted to stick it in the donks face but AK zzzzzzzz an JJ beat my AK

ok another day another dollar more money more donkys.

Ok I'm officially stuck in a rut. If I play a smaller SNG, I usually get donked by someone playing donkeyish type cards. Mainly because I am patient, and only get them in good in these types of tourneys only to get sucked out on by some donk.
If I switch up to larger MTT's from 180 to lets say infinity amount of players I end up losing because my uber tight(yet brilliant)play leaves me with too small of stack to have any fold equity, and I get donked as the HH below shows. I don't think I could of played the hand any better, yet I still end up on the losing end. I honestly believe if this hand held up I could of cruised into the money.
I'm not bitching or whining here, just completely frustrated. Look at my stats for this game. can't see how I could of played it much better.(other than folding my PP on my last hand)
Thanks for the support BSQUAD, and I'm still feeling for you on your exit. It was sick also!!!

Let’s look at the “premium hand”, too many players think the TH strategy is just sit around and wait for premium cards, when you get them, bet pre-flop very strong (if not all-in) and then make big continuation bets no matter what flops. This method might have some validity live, but little online and less so in the “lower priced” games. There is no quicker way to exit a game than to play by this theory. When you lose with premiums – you lose big, if your opponent doesn’t have a strong hand, then you get no action – so on the one hand you are seeking out that person that can (and often will) beat you and on the other hand you are setting up a “road block” for the easy chips that even if they hit will not beat you. The game that you are playing is “Here I’ll give you the majority (if not all) of my stack or I will just take chump change from you”

What you are doing is passing up on the “work hard” build an empire method for a sit back put my first born on the line for a toss of the coin. Most poker players feel that they are above “the gamble” for the “I have a edge” play … fine, having a “edge” is good, but too many players, turn it into “a gamble” Donks to Pro’s will all agree that AA is a good hand, but the donks will outbid the Pro’s for them at auction, as well as they will other premium hands. It’s like buying a stock at it’s high, likely to go up an eight or so, doubtful to bust out for a big increase and dangerous for a fall out drop. You might feel that your winning auction bid of $10,000 for that Jeroboam of vintage prized Chateau Lafite Rothschild is sure to increase in value, but what good is it when it slips out of your hand to the concrete on the way to your car. - where buying case after case of “Wild Irish Rose” and selling it to the wino’s could have put you on “easy street”.

No I’m not advocating “ATM” play, however if I was forced to, I would prefer it over “just sit tight and wait for the big stuff only”, I prefer losing trying than I do blinding out. “Zap Bam thank you Ma’am” might sound alright to you, but it could express train you to the rail also. You might use all your charm enticing that perfect lay to bed only to find that she is a “Black Widow” that devours her mate after sex.

Watch out for the Black Widow:

I put this person on a weaker pocket pair, but one that was good enough to call a significant raise with. I had her pinned on K's or Q's and I was pissed when the K hit the board, because she was either better than I was or she was going to fold to the K.

Without a re-raise and by how long it took her to call my betting I assumed one King and/or a draw was all she had. Definitely no Jack.

Anyone else getting a different read in this situation? She folded a lot of my 3betting and continuations.

I know there aren't a ton of people who play cash games here but I've found watching session videos where people talk out their hands, thoughts, and betting throughout the session to be extremely helpful in improving my game.

I've scanned some other forums that have other people review these session videos with their own thoughts. I feel like this would be a great way for people to learn and I was wondering if we could start something similar here.

The videos tend to be around 40-60 minutes in length, and most depict a standard multi-table cash game session, but I think this might work with with turbo heads-up grinders or STT SnG's, etc.

Love to hear your thoughts.

The Diva and I downtown 7-1-09

Sabrina got a hold of me this morning while I was fighting the donks online. After a couple of tourney ending donk plays(on their part)she convinced me to go downtown and try our luck there. Beautiful day in downtown Deadwood as pictured here...

We made our way into the Gold Dust where a $7.00 entry(actually 5 plus a 2 dollar dealer toke)was about to begin.
You get a starting stack of 500 chippies+200 if you took the 2dollar toke. For the first 3 rounds there are unlimited $5 rebuys which gets you 500 for your $5. Blinds start at 25-50 with 10 minute rounds. I bought in for $22 and Sabrina(theDiva)popped it for $17 I think. Hell we didn't even have a full table, but that doesn't mean a small tourney. 9 players ended up the final tally.

A few hands went by and I looked down at A-10 off in late position and smooth called the blinds and 2 other limpers one being Sabrina. Flop was Q-J-8 giving me a double belly buster. It was checked around to the Diva who shoves at this point(can't remember the specifics as I've been drinking:) )
but it gave me about a 2.7 to 1 return on my 3-1 draw. Well the 9 hit the turn, and a blank on the river. I'm happy, the Divas not and she re-buys.
At the break we were about even. Here's my stack at break.

My picture of Sabrinas stack is blurry but I would say we were about dead even, and in the upper third of chips in play. She might of had me by a chippie or two.

i tried to get a good shot of the tank top she was wearing, a sweet little job with MEAN BITCH emblazoned in rhinestones. As you can see she lives up to the rep.

OOPS I was wrong, it's Miss Bitch

Just a few hands after the break i am dealt AK of hearts in early position. Blinds are 200-400 at this point and I make it 800 to go. Folds around to the Diva who pushes about 4k into the pot. Only one player behind her before me and he calls for the rest of his chippies. What to do now??? I know at this point she's got a made hand as the Diva will push you early in these rebuy affairs, but after the re-buys are over she settles in and plays some poker. I honestly put her on JJ as this is her usual line with this hand. Without the call behind her I would of probably made the call, but instead folded my suited AK. She turns over QQ and the lone caller who hadn't shown down a decent hand all day shows her the CRAPSHOOT. No Q and the Diva is down to 200 in chips. While I feel I made the right laydown, of course hearts hit the board and I would of taken them both down. Oh well, pat myself on the back and move on. The Diva gets forced in with her 200 a few hands later with no luck. I tried to take a picture of her cute rear as it was about to exit but was grabbed by a floorman who wouldn't let me take the shot. A shame cuz shes so cute when shes mad. I accumulate a few more chippies and then look down on AA. Make my standard raise and get no callers till the donk that crippled the Diva calls. flop is XXX no connectors no suits, so unless he flopped a set I have his ass. I push, he calls and loses with K-J or some such crap.
Very next hand I look down on KK(crapshoot I love it) and make once again the same bet of 3x the BB. I get an insta shove from the next player for about another 4k in chips. She is the poker room manager and a fairly good player. I insta call, and she turns over the bitches. I show my KK which holds up and I am now a massive chip leader. I fold a bunch till the next break enabling a guy to take out the 2 remaining players. When I get back from the can we are HU and I offered him a good chop. After a bit of back and forth he took the deal and I take home 175 and he gets 145.
original payouts were 192 and 128, so I felt it was a pretty good chop. I had him out chipped by more than 1.7 to 1 but he is a very solid player(with WSOP experience)and I knew that I should try to get out with the best of it.
I haven't heard from Sabrina since the tourney, but I know she will get over it. We do this stuff all the time.Though she hasn't replied to my text and she did make me walk home.LOL

*Q:* *What is your profession? Have you had any other professions prior to your current one?*
*A:* I currently work with autistic people on the midnight shift. I used to do pizza delivery until gas prices got annoyingly high.

*Q:** Besides poker, what else interests you?*
*A: * porn? lol.. no.. pretty much poker and good movies.

*Q:* *What are your favorite books/movies/TV shows?*
*A: * book: havent sat down and read one in a long time. movie: transformers was an awesome movie. tv: smallville, eureka, csi.

*Q:* *Any particular songs/genres of music that you relate to?*
*A: * I listen to all different kinds but i guess alternative rock.

*Q:* *What are your pet peeves?*
*A: * way too many to list... probably my biggest one though is people that drive like crap while talking on their phone.

*Q:* *Your worst fear?*
*A:* I actually dont have one.. alot of people would say something to do with death.. but im really not even scared of that.

*Q:** What's your favorite food?*
*A:* chinese.. sweet and sour chicken.

*Q:* * Take us through a day in the life for you:*
*A:* usually I wake up about noon and jump on my laptop. maybe watch a movie or turn on the tv for background noise and play some poker until i either have to drive my fiance to work or until i have to go to work myself.. usually i get to work about an hour early so i can set up and get back to playing poker :-)

*Q:** Who are your heroes?*
*A:* fictional: Always been a huge fan of Superman.. real: my friend rob.. he's in the navy.. and i guess anyone else in the military who is putting their life on the line for our rights.

*Q: * *Are you related to, or do you know personally, or have you met anybody famous?*
*A:* I met Spike Lee when I was about 12 I think.. He was filming a sprite commerical or something at the Disney Sports place in Florida.. that was kinda cool. also met a couple of Detroit Tigers.. one of my teachers back in the day was on the Dallas Cowboys until he blew out his knee. I'm sure I've met more.. my fiance took care of a couple of Red Wings when she worked at the Secretary of State.. including Sergei Federov and Steve Yzerman.

*A:* Get a good job with benefits.. Win the WSOP Main Event.. Buy a house and a 1956 red and white corvette... technically thats one goal.. just the string from beginning to end lol

*Q: * *Explain what a perfect day would be like for you:*
*A:* Wake up.. check and see that I have the winning jackpot lotto ticket.. quit my job.. sit down to stop my heart from racing and play some poker.. win a huge tournament..

but then again.. all that would probably give me a heart attack and kill me.. so my perfect day would end up being my last day too lol

*POKER RELATED QUESTIONS:*

*Q: **How did you come up with your nickname?*
*A:* Just always been a fan of the wrestler Kane.

*Q: **What is your biggest poker cash or accomplishment?*
*A:* Back when Hollywood Poker was playable from the USA I won a 5.50 tourney that had only about 600 people but 1st place netted my almost $300

*Q: **Are you more of a tournament player or ring game player? What buy-in/stakes do you play at?*
*A: * Tournament all the way. With all the crap that goes on at Pokerstars I kinda have to keep my buyin's low.. If I'm playing live.. stakes dont matter as long as I have the cash on me.. or can find someone to back me..

*Q: **Do you play competitively or for recreation? How much time per week do you spend on poker?*
*A: * Both.. recreation at the start of the tournament and then if I'm still in after the first break I get very competitive. As for time.. well.. most of the time I'm online playing poker.. unless the fiance gets pissy... then is only about 1/3 of the time lol

*Q: ** Do you have any favorite poker pro's? If so, why are they your favorites?*
*A: * Negreanu: just cause we both have played Magic.. and I love how confident and talkative at the table he is.
Marcel Luske: kinda crazy but a great player.
Huck Seed: Greatest Headsup player alive. How can he not be a favorite.

*Q:* *Briefly explain how you got into poker (Possibly include age, influences, and location)*
*A: * I've been playing poker since I was 18.. so about 7 years. Ever since I stumbled on my first poker site(I get bored when I'm online so I am always searching for new things to do) . I had watched other people play live before that but started really getting into it after my first freeroll. I think it was on Pacific poker.

*Q:* * What is your favorite poker site to play on?*
*A:* Now? Pokerstars and full tilt. I used to play alot on Hollywood Poker.

*Q: **Do you have a favourite (Hold'em) hand?*
*A:* Probably J10.. so many things that can be done with it.. my 2nd fav is Q9..

*Q: ** Whats your favorite tourney format? (Possibly include ideal # of entrants, blind level timer, type of game, buy-in, etc.)?*
*A:* 360 max, 10 min levels, NLHE, 5.50... just a good simple format

*Q: **In live games, do you have a good pokerface?*
*A:* I have been told that I am very hard to read.. Just ask everyone that I have ever taken money from :-D I have honestly never left a live game without winning money.

*Q: **Are you a better live or online player?*
*A:* I'm much better live by far. I have a knack for reading others. Cant do it that well online :-(

*Q: **What is your weakest point playing online?*
*A:* confidence

*Q: **As of today, what are your poker ambitions?*
*A:* Winning the WSOP Main Event.. heck I would settle for a Circuit Event win lol

*Q: ** If not for poker in your life what would you do in your spare time?*
*A:* Sleep lol... I've been known to sleep for 2 days straight before lol

*THF RELATED QUESTIONS:*

*Q: ** How did you find THF and why did you join?*
*A:* I was looking for sites that would help me improve my game and stumbled upon THF.. Was impressed by what I saw on here..

*Q: ** Who's poker related posts on THF do you find most useful or most agree with?*
*A:* honestly? Crapshoot's posts have always helped me.. it helped me fold those KK hands lol.. j/k.. he has posted some good advice though.

*Q: ** If you could choose one player on THF to play heads up against for $1000 who would you choose?*
*A:* Crapshoot and hope he hits KK every time.. it would ensure me victory lol j/k probably Savage

*Q: ** If you could send one player on THF to the WSOP to win you cash who would it be?*
*A:* Oly all the way

*Q: **Who in the future on THF do you think is most likely to be successful in their poker?*
*A:* hopefully me. I would like to see more from GIJoe though

*Q: ** What do you think would improve the THF?*
*A:* THF doesnt really need much improvement.

*Q: ** What was your favorite THF moment?*
*A:* Dont really have one yet.. but I'm sure its coming.

I found this poker prayer a while ago and plan to put it on t-shirts for my poker team. I just wanted to share it with you because I like it so much. I'm writing this out from memory as I can't seem to find it anywhere now. So if you know it, and I have posted it wrong, please let me know. Thanks

Our game, who art from Texas, Holdem be thy name.
Thy cards may come, thy blinds be done,
At home games as is done in the casino.
Give us this day, our daily outs,
And forgive us our suck outs.
As we forgive those who suck out against us.
And lead us not into bad calls,
But deliver us from bad beats,
For thyn is the chips, the cards and the tables,
Forever and ever…
All in!!!
