Apple is all geared up for the new announcmnets and lauches soon to be made. The D-Day seems to come very near it seems. Just the recent iPhone 3.0 firmware Beta 5 launch a few days back, Apple mailed all its developers to make their Apps 3.0 compatitble or they won’t work and would be removed from App Store.

It seems there isn’t any backward compatibility with Apps in the AppStore. Isn’t that something Apple should be working on? Similar to what Android would do. Though all Apps basically would work the same as they worked before, just the change in the indexing order would affect a few buttons in the Apps and developers would have to start working on that soon.

No release date has been set, but considering Apple are already forcing developers to ensure their apps work on a beta release of the new OS – its a sure sign that a release date is just around the corner.

As Apple getting all prepared for 3.0 final release there seems to be more rumours about the new Generation iPhone and iPod Touch coming soon. iPhone 3G has been already removed from many markets. Could this be some preparatory task for next iPhone ? or just some fiasco?

So you developers, get started!!!

Virus, Trojan, worm, you may often hear, but do you really know the difference between all ? I stumble upon people asking me what is the basic difference? Are they really that dangerous? Lets clear the myth and tell the truth.

Virus
Virus is a computer program. Just the entry of a virus can slow computer performance, or cause damage to the image or display a pop-up ads that are not desired. The virus can produce itself to other programs, usually in the form of executable file (. Exe), ie, a file that the application should be executed. Virus does not run until you run the file. Exe is. While other file extensions such as. Bat,. Com, and. Exe is also often used by the virus, only to deceive you. The good news, the virus only in the trigger-by-file in the attach, so the need for action from the man pass it on. Virus isn’t a standalone code to run by itself, its like a parasite but needs the host file’s execution to activate itself.

Worm
Worm is actually a special type of virus. Unlike most viruses, worms do not require human interaction to pass it on. Worm are stand alone and does not require the interaction of the self, such as executable files. Worm can replication himself and pass it on to another system. Many of the worm is designed to extract email addresses that are stored and sends itself to those who saved contact list in your email. The good news, to protect the email, you can create a false email address, to test the existence of the worm. Computer worm does not attack directly, but flooding the contact list you, and to flush bandwidth, network and create a clog. Some worms are deadly enought to corrupt your data too.

Trojan
A Trojan horse, such as in the Greek legend, is a program that is intended for something that is not harmful, but can be dangerous if you download it. Unlike viruses or worms, Trojan replication not himself or infected other system. However, once Trojan infected computer, it will ‘backdoor’ on your computer, that allows other people can log in to access your computer system. If you have backdoor, hackers can even print documents from your computer, open the CD tray or change the desktop image, and the worse that can access a file important. Its like trojan gives a highway pass to all trying to connect your computer. Once they got it, they can do whatever they want as if they are controlling your computer, instead of physical they do it virtually.

Its advisable to keep your computer secured with firewalls and anti-virus softwares, and keeping them updated it the must thing, as there are many viruses , worms and trojans on lose everyday.

The leading design firm, Happy Cog released an update on March 11th regarding their work on redesigning the Mozilla.org website. The update contains three seperate concept designs with the goal of each one to encapsulate what the Mozilla universe is all about. Each concept contains an explanation behind the design.

The redesign is still very early in development but Happy Cog is asking that you take a look at each concept and then drop them a line in their comments section to provide feedback on what you think.

Happy Cog says ” Exposing these designs at an early stage in their development creates a powerful communication channel to help us find out what works, what doesn’t work, and start an open dialog with the community.”

Check it out and let me know which one you like more.

Finally after releasing many some few untethered jailbreak applications for iPod Touch 2G whick worked just till the next reboot. And what not other things. The Final iPod Touch 2G jailbreak is out.

Finally after releasing many some few untethered jailbreak applications for iPod Touch 2G whick worked just till the next reboot. And what not other things. The Final iPod Touch 2G jailbreak is out. Yes!! Cydia on iPod Touch 2G ..Too curious and too excited iPhone Dev Team released it without a GUI so as to ease everyone, but within few hours a GUI version was released by the iPhone Dev Team member(just for now).

So as said, the Jailbreak can be done in two ways

Manually use the firmware patch to jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G -

For Manual Jailbreak follow the lengthy tideous steps, which would make you understand whats actually going on.

Using the now released QuickFreedom GUI version -

Simpler than anything, it would be just a few clicks and you would be done.

Download the the firmware 2.2.1. (Google it and there are loads of resources to download that.)

Download Quick Freedom, Install and Run it.

Follow the simple instructions, firstly install LIBUSB then patch your firmware with the jailbreak file. (Don’t worry, everything is just a few clicks)

Shift Restore your Ipod Touch using the custom firmware( that is done using iTunes) you just created using Quick Freedom.

After the firmware is installed by iTunes you are done

Cydia and installer would show up.

Google Noticeboard is a new service from Google Labs India that intends to improve the way Indian communities share information online.

Google Noticeboard is a new service from Google Labs India that intends to improve the way Indian communities share information online.

Its an application that helps people access and share information over the Internet using public digital noticeboards. Using Google Noticeboard, communities can access a variety of relevant information. People can create text messages or record voice snippets and post them to one or more noticeboards. Typically each digital noticeboard carries publicly accessible messages. Compared to the notion of personal communication using email accounts, the Noticeboard metaphor allows user to engage in public communication with communities.

Noticeboard uses a Firefox extension and requires to enable IMAP in Gmail to send messages. The service seems to be aimed at people that don’t own computer and don’t have an email address, but the interface is very basic and limiting. Google Noticeboard’s user guide (PDF) has more information.

I am not sure how useful this is, lets see how people use it.

People often get confused when it comes to differentiating Web 1.0 , Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. A few people do call Web 3.0 as still to come in near future, but it has already begun. Lets just try to understand it in a much easier way.
Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 are passe now. Web 1.0 was all about discovering things yourself, building and developing data on Internet and used for specific purposes with limited usability. Sooner, Web 1.0 was replaced by Web 2.0 and the age of networking began, with time passing and Internet got filled with Web 2.0 applications, websites and developers flooded Internet with their knowledge and new bright ideas.
Then began the debate of this new growing Internet behavior. Search engines started beginning the Information Portal, computers are about to produce results as per our satisfaction. You search something on your favorite Search engine and bang within few minutes you are with answers. Social networking, rather the advancements in Web 2.0 proved to be more and more subtle in developing the pre-present era of Web 3.0.
Yes, we have already started our Internet phase of Web 3.0 with information clogged in databases and all the databases working together to give out the most of what can be provided of the specified keywords. This is Web 3.0
To understand Web 3.0 an Intenet adviser Freek Bijl, gave a beautiful and easy to understand presentation using some great easy to understand example to explain this technology. There are two parts of this presentation.
Check them and let me know how much you know about Web 3.0 now.
